I don’t get why there’s so much polarization and misinformation about wireless earbuds these days. YouTubers have to do their job and push certain narratives because their livelihood depends on it. The point is, false information is being spread. But don’t get me wrong—there were plenty of models released a year or two ago that were cheaper, didn’t have strong marketing, and just disappeared from the market. I get that wireless earbuds aren’t just about sound—they’re also about ANC and other features. But it’s crazy how a model with worse sound quality can show up today and get hyped as the best thing ever, while you’ve got models like the $35 SoundPEATS Engine4 that perform exceptionally well for their price. For example, I tested the Nothing Ear 2024 for a full day against the PI8. Sure, the PI8 might be slightly better in some songs, but we’re talking about less than a 5% difference. In some cases, the Nothing Ears actually sound better. The key is knowing how to tweak your earbuds, like using custom EQ settings or extra bass. I feel like today’s YouTube reviewers are just way too focused on the business side of things. Then you have random people jumping into the conversation with no real knowledge. Yes, the PI8s are top-tier, and so are the Nothing Ear 2024 and Technics, but the Engine4 with memory foam tips sounds almost as good—and it’s only $35! The problem is, YouTubers base their opinions too much on price. That’s where you get the classic “great sound for the price” comment. If a $100 earbud suddenly cost $300, they’d call it the best sound ever. So, trust people with real experience and don’t fall for paid reviews.

Do not listen to this Soundpeats advertiser. I have owned Engine 4, and it is awful. I threw it in the trash within a few days. :)

It appears that you promote soundpeats everywhere you go. Engine 4 is a terrible edition, as it is bulky, uncomfortable, and produces horrible sound. That is why it was discounted from the upper $90 to $40Ish. Even they acknowledge it's trash. 🤷🙂

Current I am on the edifier tws1 pro. Are these better? I also have soundpeats engine 4 but they have less air in the mids than the Edifier. The soundpeats engine 4 also has slightly bigger soundstage and detail and slightly better articulation between the mids and bass . But the edifier has more airy sound stage and depth with darkness , slightly better separation between the instruments and vocals than the soundpeats engine 4. The edifier has more detailed treble and spark than the soundpeats engine 4 Engine 4 has a slightly taller stage . What the engine 4 lacks is air and space between the vocals and instruments. I prefer the sound of the edifier more Should get this ROSESELSA EARFREE-i5 or the soundpeats capsule 3 pro+

Depends on budget. SoundPeats have some real bargains on their Aliexpress site at the moment and the Capsule 3 Pro are really good and cheap if you like the stem variety and the Engine 4 are brilliant if you don't. I have the even cheaper SoundPeats Clear for like $25 and they are excellent

Yes. Their sound pleases me in spite of their balky work in progress app that they can't seem to get perfect. So I tell people to try some of their products. I have stated that Engine 4 can become uncomfortable at times. I always advise that we all get good return options since these are such personal products. Additionally poor quality control is industry wide. I often return a set in exchange for the same and get one that works properly. Since you are researching my posts you have noticed that I'm very enthusiastic about the EarFun Free Pro 3 that a consider to be a bargain at the current $49.99 sale price. Very comfortable with lots of features and a useful app with good EQ options.

I find noise cancelling to be disruptive too. Soundpeats Engine 4 are old favorites of my friends in music production. Well tuned with no anc or other extra circuits to get in the way. They do have LDAC though. I bought another pair recently because I thought they might be phased out. They're only around $50 but have high end sound.

I've tried a bunch of cheap TWS, so if by earbuds, you mean TWS, here are my picks under 40. Best earbuds without tips, buds like normal airpods UNDER $40 1. Oppo Enco Air 3 2. SoundPeats Air 3 Deluxe HS Best all-around choice (best combo of ANC, sound, codecs, app support, battery, call quality, multipoint etc.) UNDER $40 1. QCY Melobuds Pro 2. Soundcore A3i or Soundcore A20i Best Sound Quality UNDER $40 1. Moondrop Space Travel 2. SoundPeats Engine4 My personal choice overal: Moondrop Space Travel These are Bluetooth buds that I've tried that are likely $40 or less (at l least when on sale) that I think are the best choice, depending on what you are looking for. The Melobuds Pro are likely the best you can get OVERALL, because they have decent sound, multipoint, good battery, good ANC/Transparency, lots of features, LDAC, and a adequate app that helps customization. Most earbuds like this are closer to the $100 range. It's on sale in my country for 45 right now, but likely cheaper in the US. The Soundcore A3i and A20i both great performers that are tuned with the typical big bass of Soundcore, but the mids and treble are actually more balanced than most buds. It comes with the excellent Soundcore app support which is one of the better apps in all of TWS in my opinion. You get custom EQ settings, touch control, and more - if you are a bass head, these would be a good choice. If you like airpod-style earbuds without rubber/silicone/foam tips, the Oppo Enco Air 3 is better than the airpods 2 or 3, and a fraction of the price. It's hard to find/buy where I am, so the SoundPeats Air 3 Deluxe HS was a close second with some cool features. For sound quality alone, I don't think I have heard anything better than the SoundPeats Engine4 in this price range. It's about 50 in my country but likely cheaper elsewhere. It has LDAC, and dual drivers to present very clear sound. The Engine4 is tuned very neutral with a strong boost to the lower bass, which I enjoy. Only issue is that it does NOT have ANC or Transparency mode, which prevents it from being up there with the Melobuds Pro as an all-arounder. My favourite choice of them all is the Moondrop Space Travel. It is one of the best tuned earbuds ever (in my opinion), and comes with 3 EQ presets for different bass levels (moderate bass, extra bass, monitor flat bass response). It is only $20, and while the plastic and case clearly show it, the buds themselves punch way above their price range. There is no multipoint or high res codec support, but it sounds great and has an app. The app is kinda shitty and only works with Android at the moment, but you can map controls, choose your tuning, and have access to surprisingly good ANC and transparency modes. I was blown away when I first bought these as the performance for the $20 price tag was amazing, and despite not being the bass cannons that I gravitate to, the tuning was fantastic out of the box. Something to note is that Moondrop just came out with the Moondrop Moca, which is apparently very similar to the Space Travel, just better tech/features, and is around $40, but I haven't tested it yet - I have heard good things though. I can't vouch for it, but my guess is it would be a good choice if you want the best sound/tuning while still enjoying ANC, transparency, etc.

My current earbuds were bought for me, the jlab epic lab edition. though I usually go for budget earbuds. I had a quick look around and the Soundpeats true Engine 4 would be the best for sound quality. I have personally tried them because my little sister has them. otherwise from a quick look your best bets that I haven't personally tried are the Tozo NC7, EarFi Airs (earfun), and the Soundcore Life A3i though only get these if you find them on a good deal they won't disappoint you but from the reviews the others will be better

Thank you for posting a review on these. I'm looking for a budget friend option to replace my soundpeats engine 4. My engine 4 works fine but I need something that has better NC and call quality without sacrificing sound quality. Hopefully it isn't too far off from the Engine 4s

I too used to think that BT anything but good atleast in SQ. Hence I gave up on spending money on it & lived with a Jabra h85 fullsize can which is musical if not hifi. And I had & still have some cheap $15 BT neckband earbuds for riding EUCs. That was then & this is now. Then I saw a Denon PerL Pro on a Prime Day deal & said, why not. Its an easy return if it don't float my boat. Well it blew me away. The soundstage, the imaging, the separation, the clarity, the transparency, the details, the sweet vocals & the airy highs that just stop short of sibilance. O & the bass. Everything is so articulate that I can almost zoom in on any instrument & follow it. 1st time ever I thought this is almost, if not as good as a very decent wired fullsize headphone powered with an equivalent amp/dac. Not saying the DPP is the end all & be all but man, I'm impressed. That said, iems/buds are very personal as fit & comfort is everything. Alls I can say is if the stock tips float your boat, try comply foamies. There's others but I havent tried so no idea. Far's inexpensive buds go, for $35-$40, the Soundpeat engine4 SQ is bang for buck but it does not have ANC & its mike isnt anything to write home about. I say start here & maybe you'll see the world in a different light. Goodluck
