yes, maybe because they actually arent as loud, but listening to them at max volume will hurt your ears and give you hearing damage, op probably uses max volume on the wired ones. which has damaged his hearing so much that slightly quieter ones now are too quiet.

yeah, i have the earpods and the xiaomis, and the xiaomis are a bit thicker, but less Long on the earpiece. they fit my ears just as well as the earpods though, but your milage may vary of course.

Xiaomi buds 3, im not joking this is serious lol. that thing has so much pressure that you can't use it much you need to lower the anc power in order to use it normally that is insane. i tried: Xiaomi buds 3 (-40dB i dont know how but hell yeah) Xiaomi buds 5 (no silicone, weakstill better than 4 NC) Redmi buds 6 pro (-55dB 4kHz good but -55dB is not realistic) anker soundcore liberty 4 NC (worst among them) If i would rate the ANC power: Xiaomi buds 3 9.5/10 (bose may be better, or not lol) Redmi buds 6 pro 6/10 Sony WH-CH720N 5/10 Xiaomi buds 5 4/10 Liberty 4 NC 2/10 (2 is optimistic) Transparency mode: Xiaomi buds 3 9/10 (literally hearing aids at this point) Redmi buds 6 pro 3/10 Xiaomi buds 5 3/10 Liberty 4 NC 2/10 Fun fact: my dad was using xiaomi buds 3 as hearing aids when i didnt use it 😂) Bad sides: its stick is VERY long like VERY but if you dont care just buy it. its BOSE and SONY's only enemy.

Starting cheap to expensive, these are what I recommend from buds I've tried or used before: 1. Erazer X11, shaped as open concept, this thing hangs on your auricula. Sounds balanced following Harman. This is an $8 that I randomly stumble and happened to have very good sound quality especially for sub $20. I think the low-mid has bad reproduction but everywhere else the sound is great. Also the battery is huge around 10h playtime per earphone. 2. Moondrop block, has classic Moondrop tune which follows rthing target band. Sounds really good, surprisingly delivers bass enough for an on-ear earphone. The low price of $18 is hard to miss. Also happened to have 140ms SBC latency which is usable for gaming. 3. Redmi Buds 5, classic bassy tuning which is surprising for a half-ear. But anyway you get what you pay for. I personally won't pick this and skip ahead to >$60, although this one only cost $28. 4. Xiaomi buds 5. $60, this is clearly in the premium spectrum of half-ear. You can expect the best of the best and this guy delivers... For a price of course. 5. Apple Airpods 3 or 4, clearly the standard for apple. The sound while being clear feels lacking in power (?) not tinny but definitely not as good as I thought. Only pick this if you have an iPhone I guess. This is very expensive in my country so check yours. Either way this limited selection hopefully fits your budget. I was personally surprised with X11 being very cheap while giving an amazing build quality and has too long of battery life. The purpose was for my mom's zoom call but ended up being a good music enjoying earphone. Generally going very expensive on half-ear doesn't make that much sense because sound quality wise they plateau'd really quickly, getting a high bitrate connection like LDAC just didn't give you the extra detail or dynamic for half-ear.
