Currently using **Instant Vortex Plus** and honestly I couldn’t recommend it more, being that I’ve owned a couple of others previously…I went with the **6-quart** which is literally the perfect size for our household...It handles everything from chicken wings to a whole tray of veggies without feeling cramped, and it doesn't take up an insane amount of counter space either. If you're cooking for more than 3-4 people regularly though, I'd say go straight for the **10-quart**, the only time I've ever wished I'd sized up is when I'm cooking for guests…. As for Xiaomi vs Ninja, both are decent but I'd nudge you away from both honestly…[**The Instant Vortex Plus**](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BPKTWKQWre2Q9DkPBzyi2ptwEh0DIc_7tyjGD7CZiAo/edit?usp=sharing) just hits differently. The presets are incredibly useful, it heats up super-fast, and cleanup is a breeze since the basket is dishwasher safe… Ninja makes you pay a premium honestly for the brand name in my opinion…The thing that really sold me on the Instant Vortex Plus was how **even** the cooking is, no need of flipping things halfway through and finding one side still pale. The 360° airflow actually does what it claims to do so yeah…However, if you need more options I bumped into an article \[[**Best Air Fryers: I tested 8 so you don’t have to**](https://homeversezone.com/index.php/2026/04/08/best-air-fryers-i-tested-8-so-you-dont-have-to/)\] that someone shared here on Reddit, and it pretty much covers all the factors to consider when choosing your ideal airfryer…
We have an Instant Pot Vortex 6 quart basket. It's huge and does a great job. But for a family of 5 you may be better off with two units. We also have a microwave/convection oven and a gas convection oven. Both of those have a keep warm setting which is basically 175 - 225 degrees. A lot of times we cook things separately and keep one warm while we cook the next thing.
Instant vortex plus 6qt has worked amazing for us! We’ve had it for about 2 years now with no issues at all.
I don’t know about a dream but we use the hell out of it for wings, salmon and fried Twinkie’s and it has never let us down.
Instant pot vortex and I love it! My tray does not fly out when tipped upside down. Easy peasy to clean. Gets blazin hot and fast!
My instant pot vortex is a breeze to clean, often times I can use just a paper towel.
> this was a big issue when they first came out; I assume they've fixed it by now Can confirm - it had a smell the first time I ran through a 15m air fryer cycle (empty, per the quick start instructions) and I haven't smelled anything since.
It’s one of the better ones I’ve had outside of an original vortex when the instapot stuff was made in Canada.
Id definitely go with the Instant vortex mini. its around $60 and is the recommended budget air fryer on wirecutter. You can find some good options [in this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/cookingforbeginners/comments/1lxgrty/best_budget_air_fryer/)
Philips, Instant Pot/Vortex, and Cosori are all better than Ninja. Ninja has bad non-stack and low power.
