"Make sure whatever dashcam you buy has a capacitor and NOT a battery. ... In the summer the interior of cars can get well above 120° and cook the battery. A capacitor will survive, no problem. The same for the winter, the batteries fail in the constant, deep cold, capacitors don't."

"I have it hardwired (wired to the interior fuse box rather than 12v adapter) and the cables routed around the headliner, install was pretty easy and cables almost completely hidden (only parts showing are to the immediate right of the rear view mirror housing where two wires go into the dash cam unit). ... Hardwiring was actually pretty easy and IMO didn't involve that much additional work compared to just doing a stealth wire run to/from the cigarette lighter. ...
