"The picture quality day or night is fantastic."
"the starvis 2 sensor this has is great. I have both the older and newer viofo units, and the starvis 2 definitely makes a difference compared to the previous gen."
"I got it because of the Starvis 2 sensor which gives improved clarity in the dark. ... If anyone is driving at night I highly recommend any dashcam with a Starvis 2 sensor."

"It, actually just saved my ass and paid for itself several times over. A dump truck failed to merge and took out my right quarter panel."
"It helped me just recently in my insurance claims process when a 3 wheeler driving on the opposite side of the road rammed my fender and took off my front bumper as I was making a U-turn."

"If you’re looking for a dual cam then, the A229 Plus is the way to go ... So if you want a front and rear cam, I’d go with that."

"Capacitor powered. That’s what makes them be able to handle hot and cold temps. I would never get a battery powered dashcam."
"I wanted a better chance of it surviving the florida heat here, so I just picked up a Viofo a229 plus instead."
"those have worked fine in the Texas heat for years."

"I just installed my A229 2-channel cameras yesterday, I highly recommend using the ASC connector that you can buy off of Hachi Electronics. Makes it so much easier to hardwire than messing around with the fusebox."
"I got a Viofo A229 instead and like another commenter, I mounted it in the black dot area of the windshield next to the mirror and I hardly notice it."
"The Viofos were easy to install ... my then 16-year-old daughter was able to do it herself."

"It does NOT handle the Florida heat at all. ... Constant shutdowns while driving and parked have rendered it absolutely useless. ... Viofo's solution? Kick it down to 1080 / 2k and hope works. It did not. ... The camera is seriously flawed."

"The mirror power is not on when the car is off, so the dashcam will also be unpowered when the car is off, so no recording when parked if u use the mirror power."
"You may get around 4-8 hours in parking mode depending on the state of the car battery and the voltage you set the cutoff to. ... I needed a longer parking mode duration so I've added a dashcam battery as well."
I changed mine for a Viofo A229 plus (F+R) this year, and it's a big improvement over my last one (which was a NextBase). It's been a lot more reliable (not randomly restarting, no need to constantly format to fix errors), and the quality is really good. OP if you're not worried about price and go for a Viofo, definitely go for the Pro models as while the 1440p is adequate at the higher bitrate setting, it's not as crisp as some footage I've seen from the pros. That said, the A229 plus is still the best dash cam I've ever owned. Overall, the firmware is good, the 3 wire hardwire kit is excellent and the app is handy for getting single files off via WiFi, though it takes a minute or so for a 3 minute clip.
Reposting here from another comment I made elsewhere - purchased the VIOFO 229 Plus https://a.co/d/eJBAVxF and also this adapter that plugs in right under the steering wheel area so it’s not hardwired directly to the battery but does let you pull continuous power using the OBD connection under the steering wheel like mentioned https://a.co/d/aG8ZMxg
[Viofo A229](https://amzn.to/46TI3w1) This is what I use for front and rear, keep it high in front windshield and forget it’s there till I ever need it
I have a 2022 CRV and asked this same question a few months ago. I was recommended this item: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKX14L34?ref\_=ppx\_hzsearch\_conn\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title\_2](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKX14L34?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2) which I ordered, along with the wiring harness: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHDXPGP1?ref\_=ppx\_hzsearch\_conn\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title\_2. So far so good! Edit: make sure you get it professionally installed so you don't see the wires.
Viofo A229 Plus Dual Front and Rear camera I installed it myself, pretty easy with the exception of the wiring that goes through the lift-gate took some time but not bad! You can add the hardware kit for the parking protection and they also have a 3 channel version if you want cabin recording. https://a.co/d/aW0syXW
I have the a229 plus two channel and I like it just fine, in fact I will be adding another to my wifes car and my second car. App works well enough, and I have the reminder to reformat my card every three months. so far every time I have linked to it to make sure I am able to downoad video it has worked well.
I'm late 50's and I like my Viofo A229 plus just fine.
That's assuming they can do things like turn on wifi on the camera and connect their phone to the camera's wifi network to download video and adjust settings.
I use a VIOFO A229 Plus. I just route the power to the DC port under the dash in the middle. I installed it a year ago, they may have an adapter to power it from the mirror now, but I would worry about battery drain. This dashcam has front and back cameras, connects to your phone to pull video. I like it a lot. I hide all cables, can't see much of them. I usually get dashcam from US when someone is visiting, you can save 30 to 50% sometimes. https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A229-Plus-STARVIS-Ultra-Precise/dp/B0CKX14L34/ $169 or around 14.5k inr , pretty good deal. Also there is an OBD hardwire kit thats available in US for much cheaper so you can plug It into obd port instead of fusebox for parking monitoring
So I use a VIOFO A229+, I mean it has 2.4-inch screen and there a setting that can show Live Video Source: Front camera / Rear camera / Rear Overlaid / Front Overlaid. So it’s possible that you can look through a 2.4in screen and that you can look at to see behind you. But honestly it’s just too damn small. I would rather turn my head and look behind me. If your interested in a backup camera in a headunit, that has a 7in - 10in screen that would be more ideal.
my VIOFO A229+ 2ch records audio both front facing and rear facing cameras. VIOFO also makes 3ch camera systems, Front facing, rear facing and infrared in cabin camera the cheepest is the [VIOFO T130 3CH 3 Channel Dash Cam Front 1440P + Interior 1080P + Rear 1080P for Lyft Taxi Ridesharing Drivers](https://www.viofo.com/products/t130-3ch-3-channel-dash-cam-front-1440p-interior-1080p-rear-1080p-for-lyft-taxi-ridesharing-drivers)
