"I just installed my A229 2-channel cameras yesterday, I highly recommend using the ASC connector that you can buy off of Hachi Electronics. Makes it so much easier to hardwire than messing around with the fusebox."

"Yeah they are specifically better in the heat than other cameras because they use a super capacitor instead of a battery to do the final writing to the SD card when the power gets cut by your car. ... Batteries tend to have issues in extreme heat/cold"

Reposting here from another comment I made elsewhere - purchased the VIOFO 229 Plus https://a.co/d/eJBAVxF and also this adapter that plugs in right under the steering wheel area so it’s not hardwired directly to the battery but does let you pull continuous power using the OBD connection under the steering wheel like mentioned https://a.co/d/aG8ZMxg

App works well enough, and I have the reminder to reformat my card every three months. so far every time I have linked to it to make sure I am able to downoad video it has worked well.

I installed it a year ago, they may have an adapter to power it from the mirror now, but I would worry about battery drain. r/CarsIndia • Dashcams ->So I use a VIOFO A229+, I mean it has 2.4-inch screen and there a setting that can show Live Video Source: Front camera / Rear camera / Rear Overlaid / Front Overlaid. So it’s possible that you can look through a 2.4in screen and that you can look at to see behind you. But honestly it’s just too damn small. I would rather turn my head and look behind me. If your interested in a backup camera in a headunit, that has a 7in - 10in screen that would be more ideal.

It was my first time and it was simple but I was being very careful with the tucking. I initially was worried about battery drain but it has never been an issue so far. I do have parking mode. You do have a few settings options. Did you see the YouTube video I was using for reference. I don't mind sharing pictures if you would like. I found a grounding area underneath the steering wheel and using a nut to secure it.

I should have positioned and stuck the cameras first . I bought the hardwire kit. My fuse box is located under the steering wheel and I managed to tuck the wires in from behind the rear view mirror without going near the airbags. I purchased a Samsung pro endurance SD card. I will be checking video quality tomorrow
