So I use a VIOFO A229+, I mean it has 2.4-inch screen and there a setting that can show Live Video Source: Front camera / Rear camera / Rear Overlaid / Front Overlaid. So it’s possible that you can look through a 2.4in screen and that you can look at to see behind you. But honestly it’s just too damn small. I would rather turn my head and look behind me. If your interested in a backup camera in a headunit, that has a 7in - 10in screen that would be more ideal.

I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. Just get [a max endurance memory card](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084CJ9T2R/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WFFHDWCRNAPCVZJ2PGSF?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20) and you’ll be good to go.

Man this is one of my worst nightmares. I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. [The A119 Mini 2 is cheaper](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) and 2k resolution...which can marginally do better image quality. It seems like there are more and more options of these every year. A lot of them, unfortunately are knock, offs and junk. The usual players are still top-notch and generally have good long-term reliability. For a solo cam, [I’d go with either the A119 Mini2](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) or [the VanTrue E1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGGGG4VW/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_QRH72FDS7WG2SW7Q7ECC?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=6472c5d2e676cc621c664bb41b675f6f). Both are compact and discrete though that the E1 is more compact. The A119 has the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. Again, it’s front only but it’ll cover you in most situations and It’ll be easier to install. For a dual cam, [the A229 Plus is the way to go](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A229-Plus-STARVIS-Ultra-Precise/dp/B0CKX14L34?crid=ODOCM20VAXM7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zPIWU7n-bytu1xxkTnuc2EyTGeeEdaXMTGYIwRIO215reF0iK25fC6AbS9LG-cr_xKgOQ5Z51A7yqwuTHFHAE5P_rShDvDQ_pp98f8-O5WiFIMPcxo7XQXkbN6NM-OXoFpCpsuvQt1xpKXT2MIn6yt6WoWsW0W9GK32xr-C1pvBXlLkUeNbMwOSmOfl8U_PzojCab3mjRYKUpaiP1gntsg3MLIRZJqojR-0t31IceLk.N_m—R9zWtiv3zwSf8q6q18csSdtThNsIctSbvBM-ds&dib_tag=se&keywords=VIOFO+A229+Plus+Dash+Cam+Front+and+Rear%2C+Dual+STARVIS+2+Sensors%2C&qid=1730008188&sprefix=viofo+a229+plus+dash+cam+front+and+rear%2C+dual+starvis+2+sensors%2C%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=22d987094893adf529b9c0e958278795&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). It has the Starvis2 sensor so night time quality is the same. It’s 1440p on both the front and the rear cams. Its the most high end cam I’ve owned and I gotta say the app it really good. So if you want a front and rear cam, I’d go with those. Just get [a max endurance memory card](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084CJ9T2R/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WFFHDWCRNAPCVZJ2PGSF?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20) since dashcams get exposed to a lot of hot and cold temps being mounted in the windshield

They are pretty decent. I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. I have had several VIOFO cams in the Arizona hot climate for over six years and they still work great. Same goes for van true. The main advantage of these cameras is that they are capacitor powered instead of battery powered. [For a dual cam, I’d go with the A229 Plus. ](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A229-Plus-STARVIS-Ultra-Precise/dp/B0CKX14L34?crid=ODOCM20VAXM7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zPIWU7n-bytu1xxkTnuc2EyTGeeEdaXMTGYIwRIO215reF0iK25fC6AbS9LG-cr_xKgOQ5Z51A7yqwuTHFHAE5P_rShDvDQ_pp98f8-O5WiFIMPcxo7XQXkbN6NM-OXoFpCpsuvQt1xpKXT2MIn6yt6WoWsW0W9GK32xr-C1pvBXlLkUeNbMwOSmOfl8U_PzojCab3mjRYKUpaiP1gntsg3MLIRZJqojR-0t31IceLk.N_m—R9zWtiv3zwSf8q6q18csSdtThNsIctSbvBM-ds&dib_tag=se&keywords=VIOFO+A229+Plus+Dash+Cam+Front+and+Rear%2C+Dual+STARVIS+2+Sensors%2C&qid=1730008188&sprefix=viofo+a229+plus+dash+cam+front+and+rear%2C+dual+starvis+2+sensors%2C%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=22d987094893adf529b9c0e958278795&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) It also uses the Starvis 2 sensor for excellent nighttime quality and records at 1440p on both the front and rear cams, which is great. A lot of options out there but I always say stick with known brands like VIOFO and VanTrue. Garmin has mixed reviews. Blackvue is great but way overpriced in my opinion. Redtiger also has mixed reviews. For a solo cam, [I’d go with either the A119 Mini2](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) or [the VanTrue E1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGGGG4VW/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_QRH72FDS7WG2SW7Q7ECC?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=6472c5d2e676cc621c664bb41b675f6f). For nighttime quality you want something that has a Starvis 2 sensor. Has greatly improved the night time video quality. Good idea to quit putting it off. Better to get one before you wish you had one. I always say stick with known brands like VIOFO and VanTrue. For a solo cam, [I’d go with either the A119 Mini2](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) or [the VanTrue E1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGGGG4VW/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_QRH72FDS7WG2SW7Q7ECC?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=6472c5d2e676cc621c664bb41b675f6f). You nailed it. Getting a dash cam is like one of the best ways to protect yourself. I always say stick with known brands like VIOFO and VanTrue. For a solo cam, [I’d go with either the A119 Mini2](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) or [the VanTrue E1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGGGG4VW/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_QRH72FDS7WG2SW7Q7ECC?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=6472c5d2e676cc621c664bb41b675f6f). I also recently just [got the VanTrue S1 Pro Max which has a nice coupon right now](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F8BW5HTS/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WM9H6N0WN8X2ANW4AZ41?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=eea6cbf997c29460cd95c86b7cbfc7e6). Unknown brand with likely a bunch of fake reviews written. [For a dual cam, I’d go with the A229 Plus. ](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A229-Plus-STARVIS-Ultra-Precise/dp/B0CKX14L34?crid=ODOCM20VAXM7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zPIWU7n-bytu1xxkTnuc2EyTGeeEdaXMTGYIwRIO215reF0iK25fC6AbS9LG-cr_xKgOQ5Z51A7yqwuTHFHAE5P_rShDvDQ_pp98f8-O5WiFIMPcxo7XQXkbN6NM-OXoFpCpsuvQt1xpKXT2MIn6yt6WoWsW0W9GK32xr-C1pvBXlLkUeNbMwOSmOfl8U_PzojCab3mjRYKUpaiP1gntsg3MLIRZJqojR-0t31IceLk.N_m—R9zWtiv3zwSf8q6q18csSdtThNsIctSbvBM-ds&dib_tag=se&keywords=VIOFO+A229+Plus+Dash+Cam+Front+and+Rear%2C+Dual+STARVIS+2+Sensors%2C&qid=1730008188&sprefix=viofo+a229+plus+dash+cam+front+and+rear%2C+dual+starvis+2+sensors%2C%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=22d987094893adf529b9c0e958278795&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) It also uses the Starvis 2 sensor for excellent nighttime quality and records at 1440p on both the front and rear cams, which is great. Most dash cams are already discounted right now and based on prior history, I would expect maybe an extra five to $10 more savings on actual Black Friday. So if you want one, just get it now before things sell out. I always say stick with known brands like VIOFO and VanTrue. For a solo cam, [I’d go with either the A119 Mini2](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) or [the VanTrue E1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGGGG4VW/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_QRH72FDS7WG2SW7Q7ECC?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=6472c5d2e676cc621c664bb41b675f6f). Both are compact and discrete though that the E1 is more compact. The A119 has the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. Again, it’s front only but it’ll cover you in most situations and It’ll be easier to install. 70mai is actually one of the decent brands out there, though not as well reviewed as VIOFO and VanTrue.
