Great video & easy install, but app and SD card issues.

[Viofo A229](https://amzn.to/46TI3w1) This is what I use for front and rear, keep it high in front windshield and forget it’s there till I ever need it
Had the 119S and currently use 229 Duo Plus. Good cams

The STL files are free on MakerWorld to 3d print if you have a 3D printer * [Viofo A229 rear 2k dashcam mount for MX5 ND RF 2017+ clear wind deflector](https://makerworld.com/en/models/1806669-mx-5-miata-nd-rf-viofo-a229-wind-deflector-mount#profileId-1927064) * [Viofo A229 Plus/Pro Rear Dashcam Mount for Mazda MX-5 ND Wind Deflector](https://makerworld.com/en/models/1597469-mx-5-miata-nd-viofo-a229-plus-wind-deflector-mount#profileId-1683168) If your in the US and don’t have access to a 3D printer I have them up on my store * [Viofo A229 rear 2k dashcam mount for MX5 ND RF 2017+ clear wind deflector](https://store.edge3dsolutions.com/products/viofo-a229-rear-2k-dashcam-mount-for-mx5-nd-2016-2025-rf-clear-wind-deflector-kit) * [Viofo A229 rear 2k dashcam mount for MX5 ND 2016+ convertible wind deflector kit](https://store.edge3dsolutions.com/products/viofo-a229-rear-2k-dashcam-mount-for-wind-deflector)
I have the Viofo A229+ front + rear dashcam for my 2019 ND RF GT-S I have mounts for the rear dashcam for both the A229 and A329 2k 30fps and 2k 60fps that uses the wind deflector as a mount point. The A229 are free to download and 3D print on Maker World I’ll work on getting the A329 mount up on Maker World soon. > https://makerworld.com/en/search/models?keyword=A229 If you don’t have access to a 3D printer I have them up on my store > https://store.edge3dsolutions.com
So I use a VIOFO A229+, I mean it has 2.4-inch screen and there a setting that can show Live Video Source: Front camera / Rear camera / Rear Overlaid / Front Overlaid. So it’s possible that you can look through a 2.4in screen and that you can look at to see behind you. But honestly it’s just too damn small. I would rather turn my head and look behind me. If your interested in a backup camera in a headunit, that has a 7in - 10in screen that would be more ideal.
The donger 10 pin type E non pro version. I installed a VIOFO A229 Plus 2 ch front and rear camera.
I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. Just get [a max endurance memory card](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084CJ9T2R/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WFFHDWCRNAPCVZJ2PGSF?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20) and you’ll be good to go.
Man this is one of my worst nightmares. I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. [The A119 Mini 2 is cheaper](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) and 2k resolution...which can marginally do better image quality. Like I said, it has the same sensor so night time quality is the same. It’s 1440p on the front and 1440p on the rear cam...still very respectable. I also recently just [got the VanTrue S1 Pro Max which has a nice coupon right now](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F8BW5HTS/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WM9H6N0WN8X2ANW4AZ41?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=eea6cbf997c29460cd95c86b7cbfc7e6). It seems like there are more and more options of these every year. A lot of them, unfortunately are knock, offs and junk. The usual players are still top-notch and generally have good long-term reliability. For a solo cam, [I’d go with either the A119 Mini2](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) or [the VanTrue E1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGGGG4VW/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_QRH72FDS7WG2SW7Q7ECC?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=6472c5d2e676cc621c664bb41b675f6f). Both are compact and discrete though that the E1 is more compact. The A119 has the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. Again, it’s front only but it’ll cover you in most situations and It’ll be easier to install. For a dual cam, [the A229 Plus is the way to go](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A229-Plus-STARVIS-Ultra-Precise/dp/B0CKX14L34?crid=ODOCM20VAXM7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zPIWU7n-bytu1xxkTnuc2EyTGeeEdaXMTGYIwRIO215reF0iK25fC6AbS9LG-cr_xKgOQ5Z51A7yqwuTHFHAE5P_rShDvDQ_pp98f8-O5WiFIMPcxo7XQXkbN6NM-OXoFpCpsuvQt1xpKXT2MIn6yt6WoWsW0W9GK32xr-C1pvBXlLkUeNbMwOSmOfl8U_PzojCab3mjRYKUpaiP1gntsg3MLIRZJqojR-0t31IceLk.N_m—R9zWtiv3zwSf8q6q18csSdtThNsIctSbvBM-ds&dib_tag=se&keywords=VIOFO+A229+Plus+Dash+Cam+Front+and+Rear%2C+Dual+STARVIS+2+Sensors%2C&qid=1730008188&sprefix=viofo+a229+plus+dash+cam+front+and+rear%2C+dual+starvis+2+sensors%2C%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=22d987094893adf529b9c0e958278795&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). Its the most high end cam I’ve owned and I gotta say the app it really good. So if you want a front and rear cam, I’d go with those. Just get [a max endurance memory card](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084CJ9T2R/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WFFHDWCRNAPCVZJ2PGSF?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20) since dashcams get exposed to a lot of hot and cold temps being mounted in the windshield

Its the most high end cam I’ve owned and I gotta say the app it really good. So if you want a front and rear cam, I’d go with those. Just get [a max endurance memory card](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084CJ9T2R/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WFFHDWCRNAPCVZJ2PGSF?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20) since dashcams get exposed to a lot of hot and cold temps being mounted in the windshield, and SD cards are usually the first thing to die after a couple years.
I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. I have had several VIOFO cams in the Arizona hot climate for over six years and they still work great. Same goes for van true. The main advantage of these cameras is that they are capacitor powered instead of battery powered. A lot of options out there but I always say stick with known brands like VIOFO and VanTrue. Garmin has mixed reviews. Blackvue is great but way overpriced in my opinion. For a solo cam, [I’d go with either the A119 Mini2](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) or [the VanTrue E1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGGGG4VW/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_QRH72FDS7WG2SW7Q7ECC?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=6472c5d2e676cc621c664bb41b675f6f). Both are compact and discrete though that the E1 is more compact. The A119 has the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. Again, it’s front only but it’ll cover you in most situations and It’ll be easier to install. For a dual cam, [the A229 Plus is the way to go](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A229-Plus-STARVIS-Ultra-Precise/dp/B0CKX14L34?crid=ODOCM20VAXM7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zPIWU7n-bytu1xxkTnuc2EyTGeeEdaXMTGYIwRIO215reF0iK25fC6AbS9LG-cr_xKgOQ5Z51A7yqwuTHFHAE5P_rShDvDQ_pp98f8-O5WiFIMPcxo7XQXkbN6NM-OXoFpCpsuvQt1xpKXT2MIn6yt6WoWsW0W9GK32xr-C1pvBXlLkUeNbMwOSmOfl8U_PzojCab3mjRYKUpaiP1gntsg3MLIRZJqojR-0t31IceLk.N_m—R9zWtiv3zwSf8q6q18csSdtThNsIctSbvBM-ds&dib_tag=se&keywords=VIOFO+A229+Plus+Dash+Cam+Front+and+Rear%2C+Dual+STARVIS+2+Sensors%2C&qid=1730008188&sprefix=viofo+a229+plus+dash+cam+front+and+rear%2C+dual+starvis+2+sensors%2C%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=22d987094893adf529b9c0e958278795&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). It has the Starvis2 sensor so night time quality is the same. It’s 1440p on both the front and the rear cams. I also recently just [got the VanTrue S1 Pro Max which has a nice coupon right now](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F8BW5HTS/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WM9H6N0WN8X2ANW4AZ41?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=eea6cbf997c29460cd95c86b7cbfc7e6). Its the most high end cam I’ve owned and I gotta say the app it really good. So if you want a front and rear cam, I’d go with those. I have a Blackvue in one car and a Viofo A229 Plus 2CH in the other, I highly rate the Viofo if you're looking to save some cash, they're a great camera for the money.

VIOFO
A229 Pro Series
Great video & easy install, but app and SD card issues.

VIOFO
A229 Plus Series
Solid dual cam, but app & rear wire installation annoyances.

FITCAMX
Integrated / Universal Series
OEM look, but night video and recording are unreliable.

VIOFO
A119 Mini 2
Budget king with Starvis 2, but slow app/Wi-Fi.

ROVE
R2-4K Series
Simple 4K value, but video quality disappoints some.
