Blackvue DR900 2ch. 4K in the front and 1080p (or 720) in the rear. Put a circular polarizer on it, works great! Have had it for probably 6 years

I also second blackvue, you can buy them off of ebay for cheap I have both dr900 and dr900X (they use idfferent power adapter, fyi) instead of running the rear camera all the way back, I have it mounted on the rear view mirror so it records me as well as the rear cabin, the image is clear enough to see what goes on in the back

I was looking at the A329. Saw that it had a similar looking rear cable to my Blackvue. Did a google search and this comment came up. So thanks for confirming and you are right that I am considering changing from my Blackvue DR900 to something with Starvis 2.

I got Audi dashcam from CPO it was terrible. 1080p quality, who use 1080p anymore its unusable during night time, and the process to save the video was also terrible. Then i move to blackvue something, now its 4k, automatically connect to your phone, and easier to save the file

Blackvue 2 chanel camera. Get it with WiFi but no need for cellular connection as that is for people who operate fleets like taxis. Can get them with 1080 front and rear or 4k front with 1080 rear. It's a camera that you fit and forget until you need it then you just use the app on your phone to download the videos immediately.

I’ve been running a BlackVue DR900X‑2CH for over a year and it’s been rock solid. The front 4K sensor picks up plates at night and the rear 1080p lens covers everything behind me.

Second this. Using a Blackvue F/R with hardwire to the fuse location right by passenger footwell. Video quality is good and device has been reliable (in the 3 months of ownership). Software is bleh, but you can always read direct from the card. You can also download clips to your smartphone via app by connecting via Wi-Fi direct.

I use the Blackvue 900 series in my Model X as a backup. After several incidents where people lied after they hit me, I will not drive a car that does not have a dashcam.

I am trashing my a229 pro and replacing with sony dr900x. To OP: I would recommend avoiding viofo. Literally the only two times I needed to pull videos, it didn't record, I could not believe it. The first time I needed, I reviewed clips after parking 30 min later, and for some reason the 1 minute clip I needed just didn't exist. Every other clip was there, but not that specific one. Triple checked every clip before and after the event and it just wasn't there... The second time I witnessed a huge crash on the freeway that I very narrowly avoided. Pulled over so I could pull footage for the "victim". Red button was on showing it was recording, but no buttons were working at all when trying to pull up, recording light was clearly on. Had to unplug and turn it back on to find out it wasn't recording for the past 2 days.... Very unreliable.

I like how you had to add Black Edition like it matters with the dash cam lol I got a 4K BlackVue with front and rear. The app is bunk. But I also don’t have the cellular add on. And the footage only lasts for 24hrs so if I don’t download it that day it’s gone forever

I have the Blackvue 900X plus 2 channel for my 21. There’s no point of just getting the front as things do happen from behind as well. I got mine off Amazon and had Best Buy installed it hardwired for about $70. They did my first Viofo 2 channel on my 21 Accord so I just went back to them when I got the Blackvue.

I stuck with Blackvue and upgraded to the DR900X‑2CH. Front records in 4K and rear in 1080, and when hardwired with their power kit the parking mode never misses a motion event.

Bought a Blackvue dr750x 4 years ago and it's still running great. It probably has 100,000 miles on it at this point. (I drive a lot for work) Then bought a Blackvue dr900 2 channel for another car in the family and that is also going strong. No issues with either.

Got my BlackVue DR900X-1CH Plus a couple of years ago. As others, I did the wiring and it works great.

Just get a Blackvue dashcam. More expensive than the rest, but very reliable. Been using mine for 2 years now and never had any issues (DR900X-2CH).

I upgraded from an older BlackVue to the DR900X 2CH and it’s been rock solid. The front 4K camera captures every detail even at night and the rear 2K unit makes reading license plates a breeze.

I had a Blackvue DR900X that took the heat from 21-24 when I sold it and it was still working. Parked every day in the sun in Corpus Christi. It doesn’t have a battery so it takes getting cooked a lot better. The rear camera was impossible to keep attached though so I just got rid of it. But today’s adhesives are probably better. My new car I got a Thinkware U3000 that even has a sun guard sticker to block the direct sunlight. I can’t attest to it because I now have a garage that I park my car in.

I have a BlackVue 2ch camera. It does everything you require. Thinkware would be my 2nd choice (in no particular order). I can't comment on the legality of recording audio. However, you can always turn off the mic if it is a problem. If you wanted a screen, the Vivo products are good as well.

I used a BlackVue 2 channel camera in our Bolt LT2 because of the size of the plastic shroud behind the camera. My previous VIOFO camera would have blocked too much of the view. I also hard wired it for parking protection. The BlackVue has some nice cloud features like viewing footage. When I get home, it connects to my wifi and uploads all of its captured data to their cloud service.

I live in South Louisiana and I've had a regular BlackVue (non-box model) for 7 years. Never had any issues with overheating. And my second one is the 900X which is prone to overheating.

For the dashcam I would do the VIOFO A229. I have the blackview 4k and I dont care for it. The app is not very good and you have to use the app to point the camera as there is no screen on the camera itself (ie. always tied to the app unless you want to take out the memory card each time to verify where the camera is pointing.

I have a Blackvue 900x in my WRX and a 970X in the Forester. Very clean installation if you're not afraid of removing some trim pieces to do it. Video quality is really good on both.

I've used the DR900X-2CH and appreciate its clear video and ease of hard wiring. It delivers reliable coverage on all my drives.

Viofo’s are a great value, but be cautious if you live in a high heat area. After 6 months of living in Phoenix (very hot summers, like 115 degrees), my A129 Pro Duo died. Replaced it under warranty and the second died within the next year because of over heating. Did thorough research and picked up a BlackVue 900X Plus and it’s been rock solid for the last 2 years.

I went with the Blackvue dual dash cam 900x with cloud feature and battery for parking mode. It’s a game changer!

Getting 24hr power is not that big a deal. You just need to pick up a lithium backup batteries along with the dash cam and wire it all in. It isn’t that large either and can easily fit under a seat. The batteries charge up when the engine is running, and power all the devices when the engine is off. The amount of recording time you get is up to you, depending on how many batteries your wallet can tolerate purchasing. I don’t have a dash cam on my Impreza, but when my mum experienced the same issue as you with someone repeatedly vandalizing her Land Rover Range Rover L, I ended up installing 2 sets (yes.. two) of 2-channel Blackvue DR900 dash cams on her truck along with 4 Blackvue external lithium batteries for extended recording, as well as a wireless modem. I installed a wireless modem in the truck so that the dash cams could upload footage to the cloud automatically, allowing her to tap in to the cameras wherever she is. It also allows her to receive live alerts from the truck whenever there was an impact, vibration, or motion detected in close proximity to the vehicle once parked, so that she can tap in right there and then and see what’s going on from her phone. One front camera was installed in the front window, and the corresponding rear camera was installed in the right rear of the car looking diagonally forward. The other “front” camera was installed in the rear window, with the corresponding “rear” camera installed in the left rear window looking diagonally forward. Doing things this way allowed us to have full 360 degree coverage, so nobody could sneak up from the side of the truck without being recorded. The other perk of doing this is that she also now has a wireless hotspot in her truck if needed for internet connectivity. She obviously has a data plan for this all to work, but we got around that by sharing her existing data plan for her iPad for a fee. I’m not sure if there are dash cams out there that achieve the same thing without needing to purchase 2 sets of cameras, but just something to consider if you really want to cover all bases.

Blackvue 4k front and rear. It hides behind the mirror and sits on the passenger side, no problems with it yet. If you want to go lower profile, check out fitcamx, which replaces your mirror housing.

I have BlackVue front and rears on mine with incident recording and remote access. I would recommend!

I have BlackVue in 3 of my vehicles and expect to add another when my Land Cruiser comes in the ned of this month. I used the BlackVue in one accident and the insurance company said it was the highest quality video they ever saw.

BlackVue comes out with new models annually. So mine is now discontinued, they have even better ones now. Right now, I would buy this one in 2 Channel with a 128 GB card. Then when you want to switch it to another vehicle it is easy, quick and no tools. A lot of people own dash cams, how many have had to use theirs in a major collision that resulted in a multi million dollar lawsuit as I am dealing with now. Without that DC I would be screwed.

I got the best one at the time, which was around $1000 for the dashcam and $300 for the battery pack. But Black Vue sell all sorts, just make sure you have a dual cam, that is front and rear.

I picked up a dual channel blackvue. It records front and back. I used a fuse tap to power it both during driving and while parked. I've had it for ~9 months. Love it.

I had one failure of my 12v about 3 months after install. I'm unsure if it was related to the dashcam, but I haven't had an issue since...and nothing noticeable on battery life. The picture is phenomenal... And I installed it myself too, which is saying something. I'm not the best at DIY projects.... But couldnt stomach a $600-$800 install cost I was finding.

Blackvue 4k and get the battery pack so it runs even when the car is parked. You can hard wire it to car battery but it degrades battery so it's much cheaper and more reliable just to get the externay dedicated battery pack. I've ran blackvue on 2 cars now.

BlackVue DR900X is brilliant kit. Lovely parking mode and cloud recording, small and unobtrusive for front and rear recording.

I have a dual channel BlackVue in each of my VWs, a 4K in my Tiguan and a 1080p in my spouses Golf. I purchased them from Black Box My Car (Canada). Installation was pretty straight forward, the only real difficulty was getting the wire fished in the conduit from the head liner to rear hatch. I also installed a voltage saver device, it will shutoff voltage to the camera after 12 hours or when the voltage gets down to a level set with some dip switches. So far after five years I haven’t had any issues.

What’s currently better and cheaper? I have a DR900X 2chan and am open to making a change.

I’ve been running a DR900X‑2CH for about a year now and it’s hands‑down the best BlackVue I’ve tried.

Usually you can't utilize the oem camera systems, and the ones on the leaf are garbage anyway. I have both a red tiger amazon brand that cost about $130 and does front and rear and a blackVue 4k that also does front and rear and cost about $400. Each have a 512Gb micro sd and both are hardwired, which cost me about $100 at my local auto speaker store. Functionally there really isn't a difference. The blackvue interface is much more intuitive, and you get way better quality, and their upload process and automated overwriting happen in the background and you can set auto uploads when you're parked at home if your wifi reaches the camera. You can also set up a security mode where if it detects movement it will record for a bit. The red tiger every now and then I have to clear it, and I didn't want to connect it to my home wifi because the app was basically spam to get me to sign up for dumb shit. It should be able to do all those things the blackvue can, but I haven't bother to mess with it.

I eventually switched over to the BlackVue DR900X-2CH for my setup. I needed a solid 2-channel dashcam that could be hardwired easily, and this one fit the bill. The upgrade to 4K for the front channel was noticeable....it's much clearer in low-light conditions too. The installation was a bit more involved than I expected, but once it was set up, everything worked flawlessly.

For fleet we often do blackvue DR-series with a tamperproof case. That way, it can not be unplugged. Some options for LTE models for remote viewing capabilities. Pricing will vary depending on where you are.

I like the BlackVue dr900x (or 770x for 1080p instead of 4k). Most purchase configurations include a rear camera as well. Price is worth it

Bought a blackvue dual front & back camera with parking mode. Watched YouTube videos of day and night performance and readability of license plates. Video clips are corded in 60 second increments with overlap start and finish. Last month got rear ended by person on the phone. They didn’t know I had a camera and they called the cops. I downloaded the event clip from the mobile app and was able to show the video to the police on the spot. The other driver got a ticket for using the phone.

I have a BlackVue front and rear on my 2025 Outback. I’m not a car guy and I installed it all myself; was pretty easy. Only thing was I forgot to untuck some slack for the wire attached to the rear camera, and when I Opened the trunk it ripped the wire out of the cam and damaged it so I had to order a new one. But both work great and I would 100% get front and rear.

Depends on what your budget is. When I got my '23 Santa Fe Limited a year ago, I immediately bought a Blackvue (https://blackvue.com/dashcams/4k-lte/) and installed it myself (pretty easy if you're even a little bit tinker-y). Never looked back! Always got it recording. Got a hotspot for the car so that I can access the cam 24/7. No regrets, and no issues with it so far!

Still have my BlackVue DR900X 2 channel from my 2019 Sport. Custom mount behind/below the mirror. Still works great.

I have a BlackVue DR900X 2 channel. I also have an external battery for parking mode. Not cheap but very effective. I bought a 3rd party mount that hid the camera behind the mirror. Originally purchased for a 2019 Sport and transferred to a 2025 Sport.

There's an Audi dashcam? Hmm.. I have a blackvue 2 channel camera which is very nice and sleek. It hides well on the front and rear window. My only gripes are: 1) The app. It's a complete pain in the ass to view any footage and it won't update the firmware because the dashcam connects to my phone via wifi and if it's connected via wifi, there's not any actual Internet access from the cellular signal so it can never update 🤣 what a joke. There are other ways to update the firmware, but I can't be bothered lol And 2) it records in minute increments, which makes viewing footage a pain. There are an enormous number of files associated with a day of driving. Other than those 2 points, it's a great dashcam and overall, I do recommend it.

We're currently using a Blackvue DR900X two channel model in both our Outback and XV. Both are hardwired into a Blackvue B124X and B112 battery respectively to keep them independent of the car battery and will run them for up to 24 and 12 hours respectively.

Blackvue works fine in our XV, mounted under the passenger side EyeSight camera (on the windshield). No issues with EyeSight functionality.

900X Plus, two-channel model. On our Outback, we have it married to a B124X battery under the driver's seat to keep it independent of the car battery, allowing the Dashcam to run up to 24 hours whilst parked, and on the XV we have it married to a B112 battery which allows the Dashcam to run up to 12 hours whilst parked. Both batteries fully recharge in 45 minutes of normal driving.
