"If you can spend money get a Viofo and enjoy high quality videos ... So practically I have 8mp IMX678 sensor on front camera and 5mp IMX675 sensor on back camera which is all other brands put on front cameras (Rove, Xiaomi etc.) even it is Starvis 2 new sensor it ’s still a 5mp. So back camera performance on Viofo is similar to top brands new dashcams front camera ... Top of the line sensor with 8mp and Stravis IMX 678 sensor - image quality is perfect. ... because I want not just dash cam for the sake of having dash cam, but also best image quality therefore I spend more. ... For now I ’m happy with video quality"

"Yeah they are specifically better in the heat than other cameras because they use a super capacitor instead of a battery to do the final writing to the SD card when the power gets cut by your car. ... Batteries tend to have issues in extreme heat/cold"

"I just installed my A229 2-channel cameras yesterday, I highly recommend using the ASC connector that you can buy off of Hachi Electronics. Makes it so much easier to hardwire than messing around with the fusebox."

"But, there is one thing that you should know about parking mode, which almost nobody is talking about. The cam may drain your battery. Whether the hardwire kit has discharge protection or not, there is always a chance. ... Also, even if the harwire kit is working properly and cutting off power if the battery is discharged to some level--it puts a strain on it. Which means it wears out quicker. ... Gotcha. Be careful with setting it so low, as it not only puts a strain on the battery going through so many cycles of charging/discharging every time, but discharging it to such a low state can lead to not being able to start the car on a colder/hotter day at 11.4V ... good to hear because I had some clients who reported batteries died on them over time after they tried using parking mode. Despite it had voltage protection"

r/Lexus • Best dashcam solution for the 2023 RX 350 ->Yes, but I’d recommend a dashcam with higher resolution than 1080p. Preferably 2.5K* or 4K. I like Viofo.
r/Camry • Dash cam ->Whatever you pick, I’d recommend against a camera that dangles off a mount unless it’s very small. I tried a Thinkware Q200 but I had to take it off immediately bc the Tacoma windshield is so small, it distracted my view no matter where I tried mounting it. I got a Viofo A229 instead and like another commenter, I mounted it in the black dot area of the windshield next to the mirror and I hardly notice it.

Ridiculous quality and you’ve got the option of forward facing, inside facing and rear facing. It’s got a parking mode too and voice commands. It’s the brand that’s generally most recommended on dash cam forums and r/dashcam last I check

r/DubaiPetrolHeads • Changed dash cam from Rove R2-4K to Viofo 229 pro dual channel. Ask me Anything ->Been looking into this as well. I like my Viofo A229 in my Mustang, and will eventually buy one for the new CX-50 but with the preferred trim the hard wiring seems to be the hardest part with no sunroof or frameless mirror. Would love to know if others have done it and whether they went into the engine bay through the firewall or tapped in somewhere else
