So practically I have 8mp IMX678 sensor on front camera and 5mp IMX675 sensor on back camera which is all other brands put on front cameras (Rove, Xiaomi etc.) even it is Starvis 2 new sensor it ’s still a 5mp. So back camera performance on Viofo is similar to top brands new dashcams front camera ... Top of the line sensor with 8mp and Stravis IMX 678 sensor - image quality is perfect. ... because I want not just dash cam for the sake of having dash cam, but also best image quality therefore I spend more. ... "Yes my crash was at night and rear camera which is only 2K had what I consider perfect night vision. I could clearly see her facial expressions as she plowed into the back of my car."

"But, there is one thing that you should know about parking mode, which almost nobody is talking about. The cam may drain your battery. Whether the hardwire kit has discharge protection or not, there is always a chance. ... Also, even if the harwire kit is working properly and cutting off power if the battery is discharged to some level--it puts a strain on it. Which means it wears out quicker. ... Gotcha. Be careful with setting it so low, as it not only puts a strain on the battery going through so many cycles of charging/discharging every time, but discharging it to such a low state can lead to not being able to start the car on a colder/hotter day at 11.4V ... good to hear because I had some clients who reported batteries died on them over time after they tried using parking mode. I love this brand. I have yet to see anyone else with such good quality. I have the 129, 229 and the recent 329 version in my truck. No issues at all. Money well spent.

r/Camry • Dash cam ->Whatever you pick, I’d recommend against a camera that dangles off a mount unless it’s very small. I tried a Thinkware Q200 but I had to take it off immediately bc the Tacoma windshield is so small, it distracted my view no matter where I tried mounting it. I got a Viofo A229 instead and like another commenter, I mounted it in the black dot area of the windshield next to the mirror and I hardly notice it.

Ridiculous quality and you’ve got the option of forward facing, inside facing and rear facing. It’s got a parking mode too and voice commands. r/DubaiPetrolHeads • Changed dash cam from Rove R2-4K to Viofo 229 pro dual channel. Ask me Anything ->Been looking into this as well. I like my Viofo A229 in my Mustang, and will eventually buy one for the new CX-50 but with the preferred trim the hard wiring seems to be the hardest part with no sunroof or frameless mirror. Would love to know if others have done it and whether they went into the engine bay through the firewall or tapped in somewhere else
r/CX50 • Dash cam for cx-50 preferred hybrid ->We had a FitCamX hardwired in our 24 Ioniq 5 and it would not loop record. I had 2 very close calls the FitCamX completely missed. FitCamX could not resolve why my camera would not work, and after 1 month of trying, I yanked it out and replaced it with a Viofo A229 that has been flawless. I have ours setup for recording when parked, a function the FitCamX failed at as well. A lot of people report good experience with FitCamX but that wasn't my use case. When we were troubleshooting the FitCamX, it had a Beta testing vibe to the process. FitCamX will relentlessly work with you to their credit and when I returned the camera to them, they fully refunded me without any prodding.
r/Ioniq5 • FitcamX vs alternatives ->I had a hardwired FitCamX, and it would not loop record. I ended up replacing it with a hardwired VIOFO A229, which has been flawless. I had two near-miss incidents, the FitCamX missed, and after several attempts to fix the issue with FitCamX, I gave up on it. A dashcam is for peace of mind, and I could trust that the device would work when needed. If you get the FitCamX, thoroughly test and periodically confirm that it is doing loop recordings. FitCamX as a company is reputable and well-intended. They refunded me the full amount without any prodding. We needed our camera to be hardwired because we want to record when the car is parked; this is a feature the FitCamX does not support.
