I looked at the integrated dash cam for the Highlander. The reviews for the integrated dash cam weren’t great, particularly at the price point. I put a Viofo A229 Pro in the Highlander and am going to do the same in the Camry this weekend.
Top Dead center in the Highlander and intend to do the same in the Camry. It’s a small camera. No complaints from the Highlander driver and expect none from the Camry driver.
On the r/Dashcam subreddit, you'll see VIOFO is a top rec, for goodreason. A229 Pro in my car and now my wife's. They even have an employee browsing that subreddit commenting from their official account to answer questions.
It is not really 4k. Although the installation fits nicely with the santa fe, note that you are compromising image quality.
So it depends what you are after. Seemingly ingegration with santa fe or quality.
Something like Viofo A229 Pro 3-channel (3CH) has a much better img quality (night protection img is way better) .
+1 for VIOFO. I have the a229 plus, which is “only” 1440p front and rear. I hardwired it with the hardwire kit (fuse taps) and have parking mode as well. All wires neatly tucked away. I am thinking about getting the a229 pro since the power cables I already ran will work with it, and I’d move the a229 plus to my girl’s car, but for now even the a229 plus is excellent. Highly recommend.
I agree here. I had a Garmin dashcam that I purchased with a standalone GPS unit. The dash dashcam was pretty bad. Overheating issues was the biggest thing. Which led to issues recording. I later went to a Viofo A119, later upgraded to the A229 Pro. And now I have the A329S. The clarity of the videos is amazing! I have a Wolfbox G900 also. Its pretty nice, but the Viofo still has it beat.
Viofo A229 or A329. I've used a couple of different dashcams, including a Garmin, Wolfbox G900, and the mentioned Viofo dashcams. imo, the Viofo has them beat. Video quality is amazing! Able to read license plates fairly easy, which is a big issue with many dashcams. Even nighttime use is great! Parking mode is excellent when you use the hardware kits. I'd be glad to answer any questions aboit any of these if you needed.
