I got DELONGHI MAGNIFICA ESAM4200 around 8 years ago, broke after 2 years so got it replaced with a new one. 6 years with this one at 5 to 6 cups a day and it's still going strong. I only use full beans with it, it never seemed to work with ground but it's not a problem for me. Think I paid 250e during black Friday for it. Definitely worth the money for me.
Super automatic. I like the Delonghi Esam - if you can get an old refurbished 3300 even better. It’ll get you to pre school.
Delonghi bean to cup with a manual milk frother
I buy whole beans from a local roaster. I have a DeLonghi Magnifica machine, whole beans in the top and espresso with the push of a button, milk frother needs another button push. I've had it for so long I've lost track of its age haha! But I definitely consider it a good investment
Delonghi magnifica. Solid, good coffee, easy to maintain.
Good call - note that all the Delonghis have essentially the same internal brewing system so you don't get better coffee by paying more - just more functions (most of which are not needed).
Philips are fine but the brew unit is a pain to clean and grease.
My vote is get a used Delonghi Magnifica or Magnifica S. Makes everything and can sometimes be had super cheaply (I have picked them up for between $30-100 used on FBM if you're patient) & all Delonghis have essentially the same internal brew system so coffee is roughly the same across the range, even including the top end models. If you do buy used make sure you get seller to show you all functions working. These machines need to be cleaned often (ideally daily), descaled every few months and greased once or twice a year (youtube shows how) & they will last forever if you look after them. More reliable than Philips/Saeco & cheaper than Eugstar (who make Jura/Miele). I recommend avoiding the ones with auto milk frothers as they're a pain to clean. Get one with a manual steam wand & learn to use it (takes 5 mins to learn but a while to truly master).
Evo & S are the same except evo = touch controls vs s = physical buttons, plus minor styling differences. The coffee will taste the same. Go for whichever you like the look of most.
I got a Delonghi Magnifica for $200 on marketplace. It has all of those things. I don’t know if I would call it quiet, but I have no complains!
Ideally a burr grinder, some of the more expensive machines will have that built in. Like Delonghi Magnifica. I think you can get one for under 30k.
I have the de longhi Magnifica for 10 years and it is still going strong. Maybe you were unlucky because it is a reliable brand
I have a de longhi Magnifica and love it. It's bean to cup. Since I bought it they've brought out other models also. It wasn't cheap but it has paid for itself over the years. The coffee strength can be adjusted as can the cup size. I'm a double espresso strongest coffee person.
I bought my first supersutomatic, a Delonghi magnifica S when Covid kicked - I needed my daily lattes that I got used to at work. Worked fine, easy to use. Last week I upgraded to another brand superauto in a way pricier range. Took long time to think and decide whether to go semi auto, or what superauto brands. One thing was clear, I did not want Delonghi anymore because I wanted different taste experience and from what I gathered out of tons of reviews, all Delonghis will have the same taste pattern as they mostly use the same brew unit. Delonghi taste was ok for a total beginner but not great. I have to say I’m rediscovering coffees now as my new machine has way more adjustments. More importantly, it brews way better and coffee tastes better. And a bonus, I can now drink proper green and white teas as it would hear water at right temp for those :)) Very happy so far and happy with my decision to not go semiauto, I prefer easy operation over some quality sacrifice :)
