I just bought the remanufactured Jura Ena8 it was just under $1,200 out the door so a little more pricey than the other super automatics but so far it has been great. Huge upgrade from our Kurig, and I figure each cup costs about half that of a K-cup not sure I’ll ever recover the whole $1,200 but there is a little savings in there.

How would you compare the milk based drinks (cappuccino, latte) between the 2? I have a Jura ENA8 and for that particular model I don’t like the milk quality (not to mention the cleaning).

Find a third option. I've had SuperAutos forever. The Jura ENA 8 is great *when it works*. Which isn't all that often. And the brewgroup is sealed up, behind (not kidding) undocumented hard-to-remove trim and *then special oval screws that require a special tool*. Mine has been a five-year disaster; it regularly grinds, fake-brews, and dumps the ground-but-dry beans into the hopper. The only "fix" is an expensive (regular) return to service, where presumably all they do is clean and lube the brew group. *Don't buy a Jura ENA. Don't do it. You'll regret it*. Now on to Terra Kaffe Demi... it uses a removable brew group similar or identical to the Saeco/Gaggia/Philips unit. I mean, it's not clear to me they're not directly replaceable. Fine, it's an okay unit. Best coffee won't be as good as best Jura coffee, but at least it's reliable and you can service it. Except, no idea why, I simply cannot get a decent shot out of it. Oh, it's clearly espresso-adjacent, but not intense enough, and the pucks are wet sand rather than pucks. I haven't found the magic adjustment to make it right. And yes, I literally own both, right now.

Ah, the symptom I'm fighting isn't clogging. I tend to put a lot of regular effort into tuning the machines for a good shot, retuning regularly as necessary. That's one reason the ENA 8 frustrates me; you can't service *or* tune it easily beyond the top-level menu controls. But it can generate a very good shot, with a firm puck. Better than most machines. I've been struggling to get that out of the Terra Kaffe Demi. Haven't succeeded. And I have them side-by-side. https://preview.redd.it/t52byrw5l7pg1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a9f131d1f38749bcd0a0d8806262efaaa2b3492 Taken just now. The Demi is giving me an okay-ish but not good shot. But at least it costs a lot less than the ENA and is mostly user serviceable.

r/superautomaticI'm tired of the effort of manual espresso. I just want my milk drinks with my little espresso in there, and particularly iced. What's good in the USA, in the 1500-2500 range?

Had issues with error message... I think it was related to the brew unit motor. Repeatedly same thing. Cleaned accordingly and regular maintenance. Had occasional blockage. Even after the regular cleaning. I bought a super automatic for ease of use not regular tear down and hope it works.

We have a Jura ENA8 and recently started using Lavazza Qualita Oro beans and have been liking it. Previous attempts at other beans were too acidic for our taste.

If you want cold drinks as well as hot I would go with the Jura Z10 if that's in your budget. I bought the refurbished Ena 8 recently from the Jura site and it was brand new with basically no drinks ever made on it or possibly one or two, I forgot to check the counter the first day. Anyway I love this machine, zero regrets, would not hesitate to buy another Jura.

ENA 8 is perfect for you bc it has none of that milk nonsense. It also has a smaller counter footprint than the bigger brothers. The only drawback for me is that small water tank. But that’s just because 2 of us make 4 cups of coffee and the ENA tank was too small. It was my first machine when I was single.

I have the Jura ENA 8. We just don’t use the milk function. My wife likes lattes but we use our old Nespresso Aeroccino. It’s way easier to clean. It’s not an efficient use of money but we get the best combo of coffee and maintenance convenience this way.

I have both an ena 8 and an e8. One for our summer place and one for our winter place. The espressos are the same from each. People will tell u that is not true because u can get a 16 gram dose from an e8 and only a 10 gram dose from an ena 8. But u can just adjust the water quantity lower and get the same ratio of coffee to water, and they taste the same. Milk froth however is much better on the Jura e8. I dont even bother frothing on the ena 8 and just use a $7 frother and its much better!

r/superautomaticDo you really need a big coffee dose / brewing unit capacity to get a reasonable espresso?

This is incorrect. (I have both an ena8 and an e8). It has to do with ratio of water to beans. you can dial down the amount of water in a 10 gram dose in an ena 8 to get the same ratio of water in an e8. of course, this only works if you are not using both a 16 gram dose AND the lowest water setting, but that would be a pretty lousy shot of espresso. You can get James Hoffman's recommended ratio of 1:4 coffee to water for super automatics in either an ENA 8 or E8. But of course you can make the shot 60 percent larger with a 16 gram dose.

Yeah, I dont agree with him. all u can say is you cant as big of a great shot with an ENA, u can get the same ratios of coffee to water, But that aside, if milk matters, the E8 makes better froth than the Ena 8.
