You should take a look at Coros. I have an old Coros Apex Pro that still rocks 2 weeks between charges.

I have both - Fenix 7pro and AWU1. Have a Coros Apex Pro too if that matters. The Coros stays in a desk drawer. The Fenix I use for running workouts (it’s paired with Stryd pod). Strength workouts and everything else - AWU for the win. I can do without the Fenix, but like the way it displays the running info 🤷🏻‍♂️ If I had to give up the Garmin or it died, it wouldn’t bother me.

Definetly check out Coros watches too - their Apex Pro or Vertix 2 have insane battery life (like 30-40 days normal use, 60+ hours GPS tracking) and they're specifically designed for mountains sports with all the features you need for hiking/skiing at a lower price point than the Fenix.

my vote would be for a used/refurb fenix or enduro series, many can be found in local facebook marketplace or certified on ebay. my opinion is based on the following: I have owned a number of Garmins several forerunners, a fenix 3, fenix 5, fenix 6x. Instinct x2 Current setup in a 6x and pro hrm strap. My fenix 5 bricked two years ago and I sent it to Garmin for service. They told me it was dead and sent me a refurb 6x at no cost, that 5 was many years old and well out of warranty. That entire experience was really impressive. The battery life is pretty good still on the fenix and charge it every week or so. Since its 51mm I can read it without my glasses on I tend to lean towards chonky watches. Coros apex pro, just returned a pace pro today. The apex I owned was great and battery was insane, I picked it up used while my garmin was being serviced. eventually I missed the Garmin eco system. In the last few months I having been eyeing a new watch and had read about garmin going pay model so I again looked at Coros. I picked up a pace pro, unfortunately the first order was lost. It ended up being returned as I had a hard time reading it without my glasses. The screen was nice and bright at stock settings but in the three days I wore it ate through over 50% battery therefore having to charge less than weekly was a big change. From what I read they changed their settings and I could not toggle between 12 and 24 hour time on the watch or app I want military time on my wrist as I work nights in a hospital and regular people time on my phone. I had to switch my phone to military time for it to show on my wrist. Eventually I will more than likely pick up an enduro 3

I love the Coros Apex 2. Originally had the first edition and then upgraded. Great watch with awesome battery life, and the mobile app is solid.

Coros Apex 2 has been my go-to for a while. Great battery life and a ton of other features. I'm not a fan of Garmin after some bad experiences with them in my cycling days, no complaints about Coros really.

This. I have the Apex 2 and it is awesome. Had it for a year and I still don’t know the ins and outs of it. Probably the best purchase I’ve made in years.

Congratulations! I had Forerunner 255 and it was my first Garmin. I love that watch and miss it from time to time. High value, have all the features you need, it has gpx navigation in breadcrumb line form, great battery life, and it's very light on the wrist. I have never experienced inaccurate HR, no cadence lock, and it keeps up with the HR changes. You might try to wear it higher on your wrist and tighten the strap. I also had Coros Apex, that one was all over the place. Often cadence lock, and often late to keep up with HR changes.

I have an Apex 2 and love it (except for the charger. The charger is trash. Thankfully the battery is so good, it’s a less frequent grievance).

I switched from Coros Apex to Suunto Race Titanium, while the Suunto is beautiful and has good gps functionality and battery life the HR is bad even for wrist based. Really disappointing the customization options and interface of the Suunto is way worse. If I had it to do over I would go Coros or Garmin.

I like the ecosystem/metrics of Coros much better too. I switched from Garmin almost 2 years ago now, and of course I've had friends that use Apple. Coros seems much more evidence/metric driven with more actionable data for "serious" runners, whereas Garmin and Apple have a lot more lifestyle type metrics that sorta have that "oh, cool" factor, but aren't particularly useful/actionable.

I had a vivoactive 3, and my partner at the time had one of the 2xx series, I forget which one. My current partner has a 245. I have an apex 2 now. Couldn't be happier with the switch. Excited to see what they do with the apex 3 models that should be announced soonish.

I love Coros! I switched from Suunto a few years back and will not go back - the battery life is insane. I have the Vertix 2 now and it feels like I never have to charge it. For CrossFit I think the Apex/Apex Pro would be enough though, I went with the Vertix just because I also do a lot of mountaineering :)

watch will absolutely demolish your phone for battery life. i used to do the phone thing and it was fucking miserable always worrying about battery got a coros apex and that thing is stupid efficient. did a 10 day trip in the cascades last summer and only charged it twice the whole time. tracking mode was on for like 8 hours a day too the real move though is getting one with solar. buddy has the garmin fenix 7x solar and literally never charges it on trips anymore. just leave it on the top of your pack during breaks and it tops itself off. he did the entire jmt without plugging it in once phones are garbage for this use case tbh. gps chips in watches are way more power efficient and they dont have to run a whole ass operating system in the background. plus you dont have to worry about your actual lifeline device dying if shit goes sideways just get a decent garmin or coros and call it a day. your phone battery will thank you when you actually need to use it for emergency stuff

The Coros Apex Pro 2 and Vertix 2 are the two Coros watches that happily track indoor and outdoor climbing. I pair mine (AP2) with the armband HRM so that I don't worry about scuffing the watch face from jamming or other clumsy things I do while climbing. Additionally, the Apex (not Pro 2) tracks indoor climbing, though I think it does not track outdoor multipitch. I get excellent data from both indoor and outdoor climbing, as well as exceptional battery life.

Saying all this, I come from a running and triathlon background, and I use a coros apex for running and swimming. It does everything garmin does for a cheaper price and way better battery life for the price point and has never crashed on me like all my previous garmins did. If you’re a serious biker I highly recommend a bike computer instead, it’s so much easier and safer to have the information visible if you’re consulting mapping. For me, all wrist HRM are mostly pointless, when I took that seriously I used a chest strap. I used to try to use them for CrossFit style classes and they did nothing useful.

I may be old school, but I don’t think watches really do any of that in any useful way. I used to be a triathlete and obsessed with data. The watches are excellent at tracking endurance but even then it didn’t tell me a lot on a day to day level or anything usable. In the long term, even as a triathlete, only benchmark workouts and long term trends can be reliably used to inform effectiveness of training. Even doing the kind of training the watches are designed for, the recovery and readiness data were useless and never correct based on my own knowledge of my body and how well I did in benchmarks and races when the watch said I was peaking vs needed recovery. The constant movement alerts, targets etc also fuel obsessiveness and junk training for points. In hiit training, the watches really are useless. The HR functionality isn’t much use, calorie burns are completely wrong. There’s no useful info a watch can give you for lifting or hiit type training. It also can’t be worn with easily kettlebells and can affect front rack position and gymnastics grips. If you want to compare your heart rate doing 10 burpees today vs tomorrow, really the variability during those burpees is going to be greater than the sensitivity of the sensor, and if it’s up or down what does that tell you? Honestly, use an app like sugar WOD or paper and pen and write down your performance in benchmark workouts, time for a certain distance run/row, and your 1-rep, 3-rep, 5-rep max lifts. This will show whether you’re going in the right direction. Now, If you want to spend the money to get a nice watch to track running and other cardio in excess of about 5 minutes steady effort, garmin is excellent and for my money COROS is as good for far less $. Apple Watch does all the same stuff 90% as well, and with many other features alongside.

Nope, but I was researching about what watch to get a month ago. But from all I have seen, the 570 even though its new, people are still recommending the 965 instead of it since its a better value. I got COROS instead since I did not want to deal with the 2 years support life that Garmin watches get and subscription plans

True, but my points are still valid. If Whoop have done anything that contravenes any laws they will find themselves getting challenged. If they haven’t, and I’d be surprised if their lawyers have missed any loopholes, then as I said, people can complain all they want but are left with the two options I mentioned. If they choose to leave I guarantee they will have some other issues with the platform they choose going forward. None are perfect. Good luck with whatever you do. I’ve gone with a Coros watch and the HRV4Training app. Covers all my requirements and is as streamlined as I can make it.
