"Beyond gaming, the Maxwell is one of (if not) the best entry-level planar headphone on the market -- that just so happens to be wireless. ... It's closer to reference out of the box than many of Audeze's more expensive sets, like the LCD-X, LCD-2, and MM-500, which makes it an unironically great critical-listening headphone."
"The Maxwell is the best option from a pure sound quality perspective"

My Maxwell never left my desk since the day i bought, and i own waaaaaay more expansive (also less) gear to roll.
They sound amazing but the default earpads are so shallow I had to buy replacements immediately because my ears were grinding against the drivers badly! But honestly they're the best pair of headphones I've ever owned and I've had A LOT. With the new pads I can wear them 9 hours a day with no discomfort.
I'd recommend tweaking the EQ a little though once you change the pads. The thicker WC pads dampen the sound a little. Little bass and treble boost in the EQ sorts it out though!
I use one of the custom EQ profiles. Mine is set like this if you want to try it out after swapping the pads. [EQ profile](https://ibb.co/9mHm7QDc https://ibb.co/qMT8MzZ1)
I have adeze maxwell, use them on bazzite, plug in the dongle and your good to go, then download the app on your phone for the settings, they also sound fantastic.
I have the Xbox Maxwell's and they sound good on ps5 pro and Xbox series X and on my PC. But I hate the stupid limp mic and that you can't do simultaneous wireless audio. Like dongle on your PC and Bluetooth on a phone or a tablet or tv.
I personally just got the Audeze Maxwell, which are essentially a hybrid between gaming and audiophile. They’re closed backs, but they still sound great. I agree that it’s important to take a step away from these overpriced “gaming” headsets that are really just garbage. My previous headset was the Arctis Pro Wireless, which was inferior in every regard, and it was *still* more expensive than the Maxwell’s. Really goes to show how poisonous gaming branding is.
Hard to go wrong with the Audeze Maxwell. Only downside is that it’s a bit heavy.
The first pair of Maxwell I bought had great volume or at least they were perfectly normal like any other headset I used. I returned them because the cost gave me a little buyer's remorse. I thought they were good but maybe not $300 good. There were way too many people in this subreddit with messed up drivers and I take my headphones on trips sometimes so I bailed. The second pair was a year or two later because I missed what I remembered the sound quality to be. I don't know if it was a firmware problem or what but the volume on those absolutely sucked! I had to put them at 70% instead of 35 or 40 to play games with all the detail coming through. It was silly. I could listen to them at 100% with no pain which is impossible on any other headset I own. I read somewhere that Audeze made some firmware changes to avoid the driver damage people were having. I don't know if that's true but I returned those. I'm not sure about version 2. I think they have wiped out the sub bass with a port so that people can't damage the drivers with air pressure. Not sure I want that in a headset that costs even more. That mute switch buried in a hole looks like it sucks too. I mute my mic all the time in conference calls if I need to cough or I won't need to talk for an extended period of time.

Actually, if you care at all about side tone, it sounds like the 2 are an upgrade in that department. That is my biggest issue with the M1.
TBH, the Maxwell 1 is excellent already. If you want to save money, definitely go for it. Maxwell 2 is the option for those who want an updated product at a similar price to the first.
The biggest problem for me when it comes to Maxwells is the weight. It's not something I'd ever considered when it comes to headphones but damn they get cumbersome after a while. I returned mine for that reason
