HyperX - Cloud III Series

I want to disclose that HyperX is NOT paying me to preach about their products lol, but I have the same model (wireless) and love it! I have a small head as well, and the headset itself is a bit larger, but the ear cushions are bigger as well and I think this compensates for it. Color selection is not good, though.

I bought a set recently, the wireless kept disconnecting 3-4 times a day. Got too annoying for me so returned and got the HyperX Cloud III Wireless instead. Sound quality is pretty much the same, the battery life is MUCH longer, I've had no disconnection issues and was about 1/2 the price. The only thing the Actis had that was better is the comfortability. The HyperX's cans are a bit more narrow but I can deal with that for the performance and price.

My hyperx cloud 3s are the most comfy I've ever owned and sound great. I've had probably 10 different headsets over the years and they're by far my favorite at a reasonable price

Why bother with used headphone for 15$ less? Go with the new pair, returns and warrenty alone are worth the 15$ bucks more For me the only thing that bothered me with the cloud 3 wireless is that the head strap "slider" where you adjust the positions of the earcups was a little too loose, hence when I would where them for a long time they would always slide a little more down than I would have liked. But that was an easy fix with a small piece of double sided tape to add some thickness for the strap to stop sliding around freely. Other than that its a great headset and DTS sounds amazing, the microphone is crystal clear Only thing I disliked is that the DTS app for activation is only available in the Microsoft store, and if you dont wanna use Microsoft store its a bit of a hassle to download. EDIT: I think from what you have read negativly, it was when hyperx bricked the cloud 3 wireless with an firmware update, that was sometime in march 2024 or something, ive bought mine 2 months ago, updated my firmware as soon as I plugged them in and they have been fine from that point.

I ordered it few days ago for 100 bucks and it arrived yesterday since I needed a new headset and wanted to switch to wireless. After purchase (I didnt check reviews because I owned a wired cloud 2 before and thought it will be the same/better headset), I was kinda scared to see those negative comments about driver updates this year between march - april but was happy to read that it got solved in april already. long story short; 0 problems, amazing headset for the price, comfortable af, great battery. dont hesitate, get it. ps: if you want to improve sound quality, go check trollfriends guide on reddit. look up in google. definitely would recommend it. Also keep in mind that build quality is a bit worse than previous cloud 2 model on this one.

I have no buzzing/extra noise or noice which disturbs me in general, at all

mic monitoring is off under spatial sound, you need to choose DTS Headphone:X and make sure you installed dts sound unbound on windows store as described

There is also an issue with the headset where if it sits for a period of time with no audio, it won't resume playing sound until either the headset is restarted, or you switch away from the headset and back in windows settings. Experienced on two separate Cloud 3 Wireless headsets, one of which I received as a replacement a couple of months ago.

I wouldn't recommend the Cloud 3 wireless personally - It's got a problem where if you don't have audio playing for a while (say, 10-15 minutes plus) it probably won't resume any playback until you either turn it off and on, or change output device and change it back. (Twice I've had that issue, HyperX technical team has been able to reproduce it, and quite a few people on /r/HyperX complaining about it)

I got myself HyperX Cloud 3 Wireless from sale for 90 euros. They're usually a bit more but should be less than 200. They offer good sound quality and decent battery life (120 hours) I'd recommend them.

Got the cloud 3 wireless recently, was on sale at microcenter. Solid headset, you just have to do some adjusting with settings in discord or your voice comes through choppy.

Hyperx cloud 2 or 3, or their wireless variants, or the alphas if you want to pay a bit more. It's a good headset with a mic for the price. I have had cloud 2 wired and how have cloud 3 wireless, absolutely good enough for gaming, media consumption etc.

I can def agree with your statement. Very neutral running that works great for music and FPS/gaming in general. Couple tips thought: 1. Stick to the wireless version of the headset. Although counterintuitive, that’s the better headset. Wired version has some weird issues with sound tuning. 2. STAY AWAY from anything DTS related‼️Especially drivers and DO NOT install DTS app - it will destroy any FPS gaming performance. I did the mistake couple days ago, thinking they fixed the driver/latency/distortion issues and ohh boy was I wrong! Tried everything to get rid of those, but eventually had to completely wipe out the system and start with fresh windows install. Stay with the generic drivers‼️ 3. Mic picks up quite a bit from your surroundings. That’s normal since it does not have any noise cancelling, however if you are running a RTX card a strongly suggest installing Nvidia broadcast and turning on the noise canceling! It does work and your friends will thank you! 4. If you are experiencing weird audio delay/distortion and the dongle is inserted in a usb-c port, you might want to try and use the usb-a converter that comes with the headset. I had some weird issues /might be system specific/ and they all went away when I started using the usb a port.

They are very well tuned so u don’t need anything. I use them without any additional software and it works perfectly for CS2. If you want additional tuning /more footsteps/ you can just switch the ingame audio setting. The big PLUS for me on these compared to the Novas is that they have recessed 4kHz - it reduces fatigue and it’s not harsh on the ears. Especially with those high pitch gunshots and flash bangs. But at the end of the day it’s personal preferences. I was looking for simple setup without and extra bs that I don’t use - Bluetooth, game chat mix, software and etc. just plug and play with minor adjustment on the drivers or ingame.

Just make sure to adjust them in windows sound settings. Sound 24bit/48k and mic 16bit/36k

Encountered one problem since I bought it last Apr. Other than that, worked great. The problem I had was the dts headphone x stopped working. It was a problem since the sound is night and day with it enabled vs not enabled. Fixed it by rolling back the dts app version. If i were to nitpick, it would be how they implemented the dongle. The dongle is usb-c and the package comes with a usb-c to usb-a adapter. Unless you have a usb-c port(i do but would prefer it to be connected to a usb-a port in my pc) or usb-c charging port, you have to unplug the dongle if you need to charge the headset.

I can comment on this. I got them for my gf about 2-3 days ago now and they're perfectly fine for the price range. No issues at all on her particular set. The dongle works without problems, the mic is really good (surprisingly). They look to be of decent build quality while also not too heavy. I come from Senn HD600s and expensive IEMs so to me, the sound quality is subpar, specifically the bass and the treble/highs are a bit too punchy so I did use an EQ software for her to balance it out a tiny bit. They were a bit quiet for me, but I'm used to a DAC/AMP setup so I can get way more juice than I need, but she doesnt even use them at 100% while gaming (says they get too loud). I think they're a solid buy and she's happy with her first wireless headphones. I'd recommend.

There isn't any latency at all and her PC is kinda old, if that helps. Not sure about the alien noises lol, hers doesn't have any of that. I tested the range for you, since I read your comments. The connection did cut off after 13-16 steps away from the PC when I went to the furthest room. It connected right back automatically as soon as I got in range. Hope this helps. I really do think they're a solid pair of headphones.

HyperX makes incredible headsets. My cloud 3 wireless has been perfect from day one and I can wear it for an incredibly long period of time with absolutely no discomfort. People love to recommend the ATH-M50 headphones, but they are so overhyped and overrated. If you look at their objective rtings review you can quickly see they are mediocre at everything except being neutral. I haven't touched mine in years.

I have and use both the Drop x EPOS PC38X & the HyperX Cloud 3 Wireless, and love both of them. The PC38X has an amazing soundstage, great sounding microphone and is super comfortable. They are open back, just something to keep in mind. The HyperX Cloud 3 Wireless are amazing too. I often find myself using these over the PC38X's because of the convenience of wireless. I wear glasses and the clamping force on these near my ears are perfect, I'm able to wear these for hours without issue. The mic is great, and they last ages too. I love both but if I had to choose one, I think I'd go for the Cloud 3's.

I see that many people suggest expensive options; I can recommend the HyperX Cloud 3 Wireless. They have an outstanding microphone, one of the best I’ve heard, a battery life of up to 120 hours, and great sound quality. The bass is average, but for their price, they are incredibly good.

It really depends on your standards if you will hear a difference. For example (and I'm only talking basic audio quality) for most people, including me, their earbuds (apple, samsung whatever) are their main music listening device and most people are pretty satisfied with the quality most of these deliver. I personally can not really notice a difference in audio quality between my buds on a smartphone and my Cloud III wireless on PC. What is noticable is less bass on the Cloud III because they are very very neutral headphones, which seems to be the main reason a lot of people hate on them. I personally was sceptical before buying them as my first wireless pc headset, but I absolutely love them. In terms of gaming I have no problems with directional awareness, and i don't think thats something that is necessarely worse in wired headsets ...

I have both, the difference is drastic imo. Cloud 3 crushes 2 for competitive fps, although i personally wouldn’t get the wireless version due to latency and interference issues.

They are pricey though. If you don’t need the battery and input features, you might consider the Nova 7, if money is a limitation.

I'm using a hyperx cloud 3 wireless headset. Battery life lasts me a week and I work from home while listening to music. Also heavily play games. Audio is good, mic is good. It has great noise cancelling. Only downside is once a day or so it will randomly disconnect for 3 seconds and reconnect automatically. Its because my adapter is under my desk with my PC.

I've been using mine for 2 weeks now without any issues. Did the firmware upgrade and connected the dongle directly to the MBO.

I could walk to the kitchen and back without any interruption. To the toilet too and didn't notice any latency.

The Cloud III Wireless MSRP's just outside of OPs budget, but lets go with that: Microphone: good for a wireless headset Build quality: average Low latency wireless: 2.4ghz Software: required for additional features that also shares your data, but can be used without Mic lift to mute: no Audio quality: scooped trebble, meh directional audio. Functional enough for gaming although bad for footsteps or directional audio due to scooped trebble. This also makes it bad for music as it sounds muffled and unnatural. As you can see your own recommendation doesn't meet 3/7 of OPs requirement, so you agree with my assessment. Yet you had to leave a snarky comment about it. If you disagree with the audio quality, you're measurably wrong. Just go look at the frequency response graph.

Hello! I've been looking for a wireless headset to use with the PC and Cloud 3 Wireless is now on sale in my country. But when I started looking up reviews it seems like there were a lot of problems both half a year ago and recently. So I'm a bit confused - is it fine to buy the headset right now? Or are there still unsolved issues? So far it's the best value I can get on the market right now. P.S. I also have an option to buy a slightly used HyperX Cloud II Wireless, but not sure since the price difference is only $15. EDIT: A quick update in case someone is curious of for the future buyers. Got the headset, I'm happy with everything after an hour of use. Fairly comfy, very well padded headband is a highlight and cups are also fairly deep so my ears don't touch the drivers which is a common issue for me. Connection/latency everything seems good too. And the sound is nice, but I'm not an expert at all. Fairly loud, not muffed. The only thing that immediately threw me off - there are holes on the inner side of the ear pads. I thought I got a product with a defect. But after googling and contacting support it seems to be a feature to reduce condensation? Never had it before so looked weird to me. But you obviously cannot see it during use and can only notice when you put the headphones on or take them off.

Yeah I never expected them to sound amazing, I just wanted a decent headset with a good mic and they were a disappointment. I’m using the Cloud 3 wireless and they sound great for games and good enough for anything else. I don’t have a need for Bluetooth or noise cancelling and these also have an amazing battery life.

HyperX Cloud 3 Wireless absolute beast. I recommend watching GadgetryTech reviews on Headphones and Headsets, he really knows his stuff. DON'T buy the cloud alpha, they are overpriced garbage

You are doing the wrong comparison my friend. No wireless headset has better audio quality than the wired one. The reason why people switch to wireless is first and foremost the convenience, not the sound quality. If you want to compare, do cloud 2 vs 3 wired and cloud 2 vs 3 wireless. In my opinion, the cloud 3 wireless does a good job for competitive fps games. If you can get it for $100 or less then thats a steal.

That sucks to hear. I get up from my desk between games like 24/7 and would love to go wireless but it makes sense. I will continue the quest for a great wireless headset but hey the cloud 3 wireless is on Amazon rn for $72 which is not bad then.

I chose the HyperX Cloud III Wireless. Initially the sound threw me off coming from Wired Hyper X Cloud II's but once I adjusted I actually found it easier to pin point footsteps and gun shots. Although the sound isn't as "fun" and punchy as other headsets I found it to be very neutral and easy to differentiate sounds. For FPS games I can definitely recommend it.

Just bought it on sale for £80. Based on my research you're not going to get anything better until you start spending £200 or you buy wired headphones and attach your own mic. At first, I was disappointed with the Cloud 3's (coming off of Cloud 2 wired). They sound very different, I think that jarring difference was what put me off at first. Now that I've gotten used to them, I can definitely say they're better. If you need wireless, get them, no issues at all, loads of people complain about the bass not being good enough, I think those comments are overblown. For gaming, they're great and they're good for music listening as well. I had to tweak the EQ a bit as the bass was a bit lacking for my preference when it comes to music and 'cinematic' experience while gaming (explosions etc). If you do get them, highly advise you try this EQ on the Ngenuity app (dont use DTS, surround sound sucks as it always does with headphones). +2 +2 +2 0 0 0 0 +2 0 0. There were other EQ settings people recommended, one by a music producer on reddit that was quite popular but I didn't like it. Firmware has probably changed some things since they posted it a year ago. **Compared to Cloud 2 Wired:** Better imaging/directionality, soundstage (everything doesn't feel so close together, sounds more natural/realistic). The only thing for me that felt like a downgrade from the Cloud 2 was comfort, and the crispness of some notes. e.g. kickbass sounds more boomy on the Cloud 3's. But for gaming, Cloud 3's are definitely better. High notes on some vocals we're piercing with Cloud 3 also.

Nope, I'm still looking myself. I think I'm fully done with gaming brands (I even hated the beloved Audeze Maxwell due to how uncomfortable and heavy it was). That's why I'm lurking here to find some good audiophile recommendations. The only "wireless gaming headset" I almost like is the Cloud 3 wireless which I bought on sale for 170CAD (tax included) but I only like these because of comfort and sound. They can get very hot (cheap pleather ear pads) and they only work wirelessly with a usb receiver with no wired or bluetooth options. Their app doesnt work on MacOS either. I really think they're overpriced for what they are so I will be sending them back.

since uve already tried a b+ headphone i'd say return to the roots and get him a Hyper X Cloud 3 Wireless, if he prefers a v shape sound, ie bassy and sharp at the same time he could try the Could 2 wireless ik what these guys will tell u to get, audeze maxwell, senn pc38x, hd 490, he 1000se, hd 800s, 560s, dt 1990, jt1, zeus elite, skip these ur guy doesnt want hi fidelity sound just needs game audio btw what games is he playing? if its COD i can understand y he didnt like the above, but yeah it would also feel sharp in apex sometimes

Maxwell is great but has comfort issues as others have stated. If you have the ability to try and return, I would do that with them. I have the Logitech G Pro X2 and can't really fault them to be honest. A quick search has the Logitechs on Amazon for $300. JB Hi Fi will price match if you use their chat bot so you can do that too if you like. They're fairly boomy in their bass so not the absolute best for FPS if you want to be a try hard, but they will serve you just fine. A bit of a cheaper price bracket is Hyper X headsets, which will probably get me downvoted in this sub but I quite like them. The Cloud 3 Wireless is a decent headset that is a bit cheaper than the Maxwell and the Logitech. I swear by the build quality and how they're just a "solid" set of gaming headphones.

Exclusively out of these options, I’d get the HyperX Cloud III wired and call it a day. Cloud Alpha is good if you want a lot of bass but I personally don’t like the bass drowning out the other frequencies, which it does from my years of using it.

The wired HyperX 3 is my backup/visitor headset, love everything about them. Would probably still be using them if I wasn’t gifted a pair of audio-Technicas. I don’t need full wireless personally, but I get that it’s a problem for some.

I have been fan of hyperx since when I first used hyperx cloud core, then I upgraded to cloud 2 which was the best thing I'ved done, then I was tired of using headphones so I switched to iems of which experience in gaming was not that great especially in fps like valorant, then I decided to upgrade to cloud 3, tbh cloud 3s are not that great when compared to their past gens, my head kinda hurts while playing it for a long time, they are not for medium to large shaped head, I think small shaped head could use it, but not us hyperx failed this time in comfort zone tbh

I honestly don't think the Cloud 3 are worth the extra money. The only scenario I can think of is if you're a professional player and want to sacrifice the overall sound quality to hear an extra footstep or two. Even in that scenario the Cloud II wins, it's the most used headset in FPS eSports. About the Cloud II microphone. It's one of the best microphones i've used. Your voice sounds crisp and clear even if you're speaking lower. It's a highly sensitive device and I see many MANY people on YouTube doing "mic tests" with the microphone almost inside their mouths. That's not how you use a Cloud microphone. Keep it a little further away from your mouth but facing it directly. This will avoid blows and air. The best position is usually lower, next to your chin about 4 fingers away.

Mmx Wireless 200. really can’t go wrong with that. The mic is amazing, sound quality good. Only downside is it’s pretty ugly but who cares Also had the hyperx wireless ones but sent it back because the audio quality is worse than with the mmx and also the hyperx didn’t have Bluetooth. So you couldn’t connect it to a phone or other devices without the dongle

Hyperx cloud wireless. Battery lasts for, i kid you not, like 6-10 months. Mic is good. Its comfortable.

If you only use it to play FPS games like cs I highly recommend just get a Logitech prox or hyper x cloud 3. I use them both but I sold prox, hyper x better for me.

Had the clouds at work, they were okay. saw the astros but I didn't care much to try them.also had the logi G733 and they are ASS. So I haven't had enough exposure with the ones you mentioned to come up with a pertinent "review" or opinions, but I can confidently say the SteelSeries Arctis 7+ are BANGIN! <3

Guys please... Not need to spend 200-400 USD... Just take a hyper x cloud 2 or 3. Mic is not the best but sound is perfect for pubg.

I use the hyperx cloud 2 but i think the cloud 3 is also pretty good. They arent too heavy on my head and you can change out the earpads do this flannel material that turns it from almost noise cancelling to openback. Theyre good for audio in my opinion. I'm fairly casual as a gamer but play a lot and have played ~ 1000 hours with mine, no issues to date and theyre an older model.

Hopefully not the c3 sound us muffled and quieter compared to c2 tried 2 cloud 3s to make sure even tried a gpro x still prefere the cloud 2 it s superb

Maybe I am a bit late on this topic but from what I have heard, the HyperX Cloud series and Logitech Pros are quite good. Or am I wrong and those are not worth mentioning (I am really on the search for new headphones cause the padding on my Hyperx cloud mix are dying)

I recently upgraded from my Hyper X Cloud headset with built-in mic to an Audio Technica ATH-M20X and a basic desktop condenser mic combo. I'll never go back to any "gaming" headset again. It just doesn't compare for the level of FPS gaming I do.

I have a Hyper X wireless that I am pretty happy with. I bought it with one of the stimuluses from the pandemic lockdown since I was working from home at the time (and my cats were kittens who liked chewing cords). It's still working fine. It's just plain black, though. I am not too concerned about my peripherals looking cute, but I know some people are.

For razer I was thinking more about the Blackshark headsets otherwise I tend to agree with you... I'm using an HyperX right now and I'm very happy but for the too long cable 🤣 I'm searching for a wireless headset

Personally, I stopped using "gaming headsets" a while ago. Over the years, I've tried various ones (Razer BlackShark V2, HyperX Cloud (can't remember the exact model), SteelSeries Arctis 7) and concluded that they all have terrible sound quality and are uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Pretty much the only time I used them was when I needed the mic for voice communication. Outside of that, I've been using an AKG K7xx and Sennheiser HD6xx, both from Massdrop, with an external USB DAC and amplifier - in my case, an O2+ODAC and an SDAC - also both from Massdrop. Both of these work fine both in Linux and Windows. A year ago or so, I got a desk microphone (Elgato Wave:3) for voice communications so I wouldn't have to use the horrible gaming headsets at all anymore. Currently using the Elgato Wave:3 as well as a Fifine AM8 (in two different locations), and both work fine with Linux as well. If I was to personally recommend something, it would be to get a decent headphone, such as Sennheiser HD6xx (or HD650, which is almost the same but probably easier to get if Massdrop isn't currently selling HD6xx) and DAC+amplifier, and a desk microphone for voice communication if needed. It'll be a bit more expensive than a gaming headset, and not wireless, but the difference in comfort and audio quality is massive.

I have the Cloud 3s and I’m struggling to get stereo sound in Rust to work on them. Can you imagine how much more difficult the game is if you can’t work out which direction a sound is coming from?

I'll second this, but I also gladly trade a little bit of sound quality for a weeks worth of battery life. Its insane how many hours you can get out of a single charge.

Yeppp. I game daily and charge it from 30% - 100% every 2 or so months. Only downside is the radio signal dies if I leave my room but doesn’t really matter

I had a HyperX CloudS for 4 years, then I switched to the HyperX Cloud Alpha and it is a dream. 300 hour battery life means I can charge it once a month after using it for work and gaming every day.

Not with the hyper x’s or most other wireless headsets.

The wireless hyper x I think it's called like cloud or something. For the money it's pretty epic in all the ways.

I had about 3 of them. They are good when they work but eventually they stop working. Mine only lasted a year almost to the dot on all 3.

I completely agree the sound was great never stopped working but my problems was always the mic. It would stop working that and Xbox controller aux ports suck ass!

Hyperx cloud 3 is your best option under 120 dollars. Or u can get moondrop aria and pair it up with an external mic. That will be good too👍

U said "for gaming". That headphone is designed in a way u can hear footsteps pretty easily if u play alot of fps games. That's why I am suggesting it to u. Or just go with some other non gaming headphones, they might sound alot better

I'll say....I have owned HyperX cloud wireless over 3yrs and they still look the same as when I purchased them. The only thing wrong with them is the volume knob gave up the ghost. But it's no big deal as I can control the volume with my keyboard.

I’ve used a set of hyperx clouds that were like £30 for the last 4 years… can’t fault them.. I recently just got some “kz Zsn pro” iem’s from Ali express for £3 and can’t fault them either… Some headphones do sound clearer but for me personally as long as there’s some form of soundstage you’re ears will adapt and learn player locations anyway… so yeah expensive headphones can be better .. but if your not listening out for what you need to hear it won’t make a difference … just make sure the headphones are comfortable and have a good seal

I recently got some kz zsn pro iem’s for £3 and it feels so much better not having a headset digging into my skull. Music is 10 times better compared to my hyperx clouds I had.. I will say gaming took a little getting used to, just because the difference in sound stage.. but overall I’d deffo say iem’s are the way to go especially with the price difference

I use the Cloud III and they're great.. The ear cups are comfortable with glasses on.

I used to have a Rig headset and it was so uncomfortable on my ears. The band that stretches across the inside also leaves a strong dent in your hair. I have never been happier since switching to a pair of hypercloud III’s. Do not buy these.

For a Logitech headset look at the: - G435 - G535 - G Pro X wired or wireless (version 1, not 2) Other gaming headsets include: - JBL Quantum One - Sennheiser Game One - HyperX Cloud III - Razer Barracuda - SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X or 7X - Turtle Beach Atlas Air. The tradeoff on all of this are the same: buggy apps, poor audio/mic quality and/or poor longevity. If you want a better experience I suggest getting a USB mic like the JLab Talk and pair it with audiophile headphones like: - Philips Fidelio X2HR - Sennheiser HD 560S - Philips SHP9500 - Sennheiser HD 599

Small headed gamer here! I just recently upgraded to the HyperX Cloud III headset because my previous one was too big for my head and was uncomfortable. I've only had my new headset a couple weeks but it's a huge difference! Very comfortable and fits my head well. I have a wired headset but they make it in a wireless version too. I think I paid about $130 USD.

Avoid hyper x cloud 3. Worst audio headset lmao sounds like a 10 dollar headset. Worse headset I ever had. The $30 headset i bought for my little brother is wayy better audio.

The only solution I've found that works out is getting a headphone that has a 3.5mm removable jack and using the V-moda boom mic. But you might struggle to find a headphone that you like that is compatible. OR Get whatever headphone you like and get a wireless mic you can attach like the ModMic from Antlion Audio. It's easier to manage because the headphone and mic are independent devices, but this requires potentially two cables (get a cable sleeve or something ideally) or getting a wireless mic which comes with battery life (though it should still work when wired for recharge). HyperX Cloud is still probably your easiest bet, meh bass and all. But there are options.

I've considered those, because I want wireless. Will it be a worthwhile upgrade to my HyperX Cloud that I've had for 10 years? And how does the point about making any audio source wireless work? I play a lot on my PS2 and 1st gen Xbox still.

Hyperx headsets have been really great for me. The wireless Alpha, Cloud 2, Cloud 3, and Cloud Flight are all really great sounding and comfortable headsets. Haven’t had issues with the mic.

Just went through this same battle myself and ended up paying 25$ MORE for the Arctis Pros for comfort and allegedly better sound quality. Just came from hyper X Cloud 3 and these def bring the "wow" factor. Still recommend these over the Nova pros for music on phone and PC and story games?

Hyperx cloud 2 or 3 honestly. Buying a dedicated microphone is silly

I have a pair of IEMS that work great but they irritate my ears after so long so I switched to hyperx wireless and they are pretty good. Not as good as my cheap iem’s but they get the job done and are way more comfortable

cloud 2 is soooo superior to the cloud 3. just "upgraded" to cloud 3 from 2 the other day, had to refund them within in a day because of how bad they really are.

Well... I got a HyperX cloud (dont know what series) about 4 years ago. It wasn't expensive. Well under €100. To be honest: I really couldn't care less about the brand. I use this headset for digital work meetings and gaming + discord calls. When I got it I lived in an appartment with a lot of sound if my window was open. My laptop mic would pick it up. My Desktop has no mic. This headset has microphone and its is a loooot better than my laptops mic. I still have it today. It still works just as well. There's nothing crappy about it. Funnily enough my Sennheisers that I use for commute and office visits already needed some part replacements. At my home office I also have a studio headset, monitors and an external audio interface. But tbh the comfort, completeness and the easy of use from my HyperX can't be beat by those. When I want to succumb to music I have my HiFi set downstairs.

That’s what I have I think. Battery life is great. I don’t care about sound quality because I literally only use it for chat, and for that it’s fine.

Would go for hyper x cloud wireless, its good sound good mic and not over expensive, arround 100 a 120.

Depents with what you compare, i cant complain i hear the footsteps loud and clear in a fps. Also music sounds good. Maybe it depent on wich one, i have one of the latest cloud 3.

This is the answer right here OP. The HyperX Cloud 3s have insane battery life, really low latency wireless and good sound. It also has awesome mic monitoring (which is important to me since I hate the muffled sound of my voice when talking with over ear headphones). I’ve had my set since 2023 and they’re made like a tank, too. For sound quality, they’re pretty great out of the box. But if you want to tinker with the audio, I would recommend skipping the equalizer on the HyperX app and would instead suggest using Equalizer APO and Peace. Otherwise the HyperX app equalizer can introduce a tiny bit of latency. Not a big deal but if you’re extremely sensitive to audio delay, it can be noticeable.

I have tried wired. Honestly never really felt the need to. Wireless has worked flawlessly for me. With the battery lasting so long, concerns about it dying have been pretty nonexistent. When turning it on, a voice will notify you if the battery is low. That usually means you can still get one or two gaming sessions in before needing to charge. The wireless connection is 2.4 GHz so latency is pretty non-existent and it has great range. I’ve been able to go to the kitchen 3 rooms away and still had good reception.

yea theres a difference between cloud 2 and 3. ive tried 3 and it just didnt feel right, it felt more tense and less agile, worse bass aswell, which to me is a big part. so ive had cloud 2’s for a while now, bought 4+ pairs over the years and will continue to do so. they’re hands down the best budget headset ive ever had

if you want wired headphones with a mic, a detachable cable and a detachable soundcard, then logitech g pro x are a great replacement for the old hyperx clouds. speaking from experience.

As a proud owner of a HyperX Cloud (the original, that is still awesome and kicking today), I can confidently say that the Cloud II and Cloud III are complete and utter doesn't. Seriously. From one of the best gaming headsets ever to complete crap. It's embarrassing.

I had them for a long while, but for me the rubber on the ear cups started peeling and it was a horrible mess. The cloud 3 is honestly mostly the same, use them currently.

Had the exact same experience as me, i loved the cloud 2s for everything fps, upgrade to the 3s changed all the recommended settings from online and still sounded maybe 80% as good as the twos and were comfortable, the only pro was that the microphone quality was way better. Either way, i returned it and bought two pairs of 2s LOL

They are the ones that almost look like pilot headset actually. There’s a cloud 2 abd 3 already as well though both will do just as well for you honestly. The mic is also solid. Hard to beat the value on the first one if you are looking in a budget. Otherwise I’d recommended the newer one, or even the cloud 2. I would personally look at the HyperX Cloud 3. Wired has a better mic and is cheaper but wireless is pretty decent too. It has metal cups and metal attachments. The mic can even be unplugged and replaced if needed. No external software is really required and it starts at about $100 for the wired version

Hyper x cloud 3s are very nice. Come with a detachable mic for when you want to upgrade to XLR or a studio quality mic. Been using hyper x clouds since the first model. Will never change them

How is the Hyper X cloud so low on the list? I own one and everyone who I know that games on PC has one of the cloud headset models.

I actually got the 3 and returned it for the 2, had the 2 even before it broke but I like them so much I just got another pair now

So for context, i have the same headphones. I've replaced both the Ear Cushions and the Top Leather and they're basically brand new. I've had mine for the similar amount of time and have to say they're the best headset i've ever had. The battery is dying a little now so who knows what i'm gonna buy next!

Don't get a "Gaming" headset. Get a studio headset, and a table microphone. Consider something from Beyerdynamics or AKG if you really care about sound. (those are just my picks, you could get something from any solid audio brand, like Sennheiser) If you really want something with a microphone, i think Beyerdynamics recently launched a gaming-oriented headset line, with built-in microphones. If you're not looking to break the bank, the HyperX clouds are and always will be a top pick. Solid sound, amazing comfort, and very durable.

They're terrible. Literally Temu trash. Good headphones plus the DualSense mic are definitely better than this, and that goes for all the GameStop branded headsets. That said, there really aren't any half decent headsets at that price point. If you move up to the $30 to $65 range you can find a lot of good stuff like Astro A10, Logitech G432 or G435, HyperX Cloud III or Cloud Stinger 2, or SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1. But keep in mind that these are still budget headsets with the quality to match. They'll beat out the DualSense mic, but might not match the audio quality of your headphones depending on what you have. Edit: Also worth noting that everyone who has said anything positive about these so far have a vested financial interest in convincing people to buy this garbage. Stonkbros love anything GS puts out regardless of quality.

Nah. From experience, never buy Sony gaming headphones. They have awful build quality. Go for something like a HyperX Cloud II (or III), or maybe a Steelseries Arctis one.

Hyper x cloud. No need to install driver. Put the jack inside and you are done. Best gaming headset. I switched a lot of headset in 6 years and I’ve now returned to this. It’s my second pair

I switched to a boom mic and got higher end (non gaming) headphones which are plugged into a DAC mounted on my rig. My current solution wouldn’t work for the OP as they want to be able to switch between PC and PS5, which is why I think a good mid-range wired gaming headset such as the HyperX Cloud is perfect.
