SteelSeries - Arctis Nova 7 Series

Had Astro a50’s for years and years and swore by them. Got these and they have way better audio quality, better features etc. the kids and highs are so crispy and clean you can hear tiny details that I never heard on the Astro’s. Since they are closed back the sound stage isn’t mind blowing but it works well and you still get great depth

I’ve been gaming on my PS5 with the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P for a few months and it’s been solid.

I personally use Astro a40s and they work great. A lot of people recommend the steelseries arctis nova 7, so if I were you, I'd go for those if you're able to afford them.

Ah ok ok. Well I wouldn't say it's a bad purchase. I see the nova 7s are on sale here for a similar price which in my opinion sound a little better it's just not as big as a battery so that's also a decent alternative

Eh. I ended up with the Arctis and not bad. Still miss my Astros but more control and better audio with Arctis. Mic quality on my end is kinda ass and it sometimes disconnects when I first turn the PS5 on.

As someone who owns wireless nova 7’s and wired 7 pros, no fucking way would I spend 600 on these. Sonar GG is arguably one of the worst peripheral softwares on the market and I won’t spend another dollar on steelseries until they develop something better

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7. Been running the same headset for years without any issues. If it helps sell ya; Embarrassingly enough, I rage-threw my headset at the wall for the first time a week ago. Broke the audio cable to the headset. Ordered a replacement cord for $15 and it still works perfectly.

Steelseries 7p or 7x probably gonna be your best bet and finding them used will be even cheaper. There are others id recommended but there over 100

Audeze Maxwell - Considered one of the best wireless gaming headsets. Popular with music creators as well as for gaming. Mic is reasonably good, though can clip a little. The overall audio quality isn't as good as either the Maxwell or PC38X, but they're closed back so their bass response is more like the Maxwell. And the mic quality is generally better than the Maxwell, but no where near as good as the PC38X. Most (maybe all?) use cloth earpads. Nova Pro Wireless and Nova 9 are both quite good, with the Nova 9 being slightly better in terms of audio clarity and mic quality, but the Pro Wireless has better bass and noise cancelling.

I would avoid Arctis Nova, as other people already said they don't last very long, go for HyperX-Cloud-Alpha, the metal beam is not going to break on you and they sound great!

Would avoid all of them and go for cloud 3 wireless or atlas air, Steelseries arent that great their headsets sound mid and quality even more so. I tried 7x and Nova Pros and disliked both of them. Cloud3 wireless much better around 99

The Arctis ones do it with a cool little dedicated box where you can also control other things. I had some years ago and it was a very handy feature...though yes, windows now does much better, channel-based volume control. Still not as cool as a dial on a box though :)

The Arctis Nova 7 isn't just way better build quality, it also sounds miles better than that shit especially when you load a custom EQ profile using a PC. It also has comfort Max tech which makes the headset feel great.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P for Playstation (has a blue headband). I bought and tested 5 different pairs when the Sony Pulse Elites came out (complete garbage by the way), and loved this one the most. I had previously had the HyperX Cloud Alpha wired headset for like 6 years before that which were also fantastic.

I had no luck finding a decent all pink headset. But I really love my current headset. I have the Steelseries Arctis Nova in white! You can also buy replacement ear cups from third parties that are pink in color!

Never again : The bluetooth is a pain to pair, it beep some time for no reason, mid quality for headphone. Oh and the sonar software who was designed by an intern ten years ago.

Not good Do the maxwells use planar magnetic drivers which are designed to be inherently flat and play audio in its purists form with little to no enhancements. You’ll get bass but not the rumbling/thumping bass you are probably use to hearing in standard dynamic drivers which 99.% if headsets use If you want bass I’d recommend the Astro A50x, Arctis nova pro wireless ore the Arctis nova 7ps. The turtle beach stealth 700 gen 3s are also a good choice The above will give you balanced audio with both bass and clarity/detail. The a50x and turtle beach headset are a smige more bass heavy but not overbearing though

Cloud alpha wireless sound awful, but no wireless headphones that function off of a USB dongle are going to sound good and Bluetooth headphones have too much input lag for gaming unless you're playing single player titles. Arctis Nova are the least bad imo, but I've just given up on wireless headphones for now. I used to call my wireless HyperX headset my tin cans because they sounded like tin cans and the mic quality was worse than my laptop webcam's

I have the Arctis Nova 7 and there is no RGB. Only light is the microphone being red when you have it muted.

Razer Blackshark line is also good and has an awesome mic but I opted for for the Nova 7's for the slightly more pronounced bass. Both are comfortable but the Blackshark V2 Pro were probably the most comfortable that I've tried. I just got my Nova 7 yesterday. Somewhat lighter than the Arctis 5 I have. But I will say comfortable is superb. I have had hearing issues since I was a kid and I have rarely found a headset that satisfied my need for a louder sound. I finally found a set that has really good mid and highs but also packs a very good bass. Once you take the volume limiter off in the software, the head gets really loud and keeps its quality sound. However they do warn you how loud they get and after some testing my ear drums began to ache. Maybe it was a bad idea taking the volume limiter off because my ears were aching for quite a while and that was a little scary lol. Maybe I’m getting too old for such high volume. But sound wise this set blew me away. The biggest issue is the Chatmix dial function. It only works with the software (this was not the car on the Arctis 3). Also on previous versions I was able to assign two channels on the dial, so game would be assigned to the game I play while chat was assigned to a browser to stream music. When doing that there was no quality loss. However on the Nova 7 when you put a browser or any music on the chat channel it sounds terrible like it was meant only for using chat/discord or communicating with other people. Somehow I got it to work on the software by assigning a browser to the media channel and it works on the dial. I have no idea how I got it to work and I feel like if I lose that setting I’m not going to be able to get it to work. Long story short the software kind of sucks and takes a while to get use to. And if you don’t use the software you lose out on using the equalizer and won’t sound the best it can. Believe me you want the full sound potential. For being wireless these are the best I have had so far. I have had cheap sets, I’ve also used a 300 dollar Sony xm4 set which is great all around with the exception of connectivity. The Nova 7s have a solid connection and haven’t had any issues

I'd stick with the standard Arctis line, not the Novas imho. there's not a lot between two two, I think Novas as slightly lighter, but their headband wasn't as comfortable. They felt cheaper too. Plus whatever they did to the mic, wasn't as good as my original Arctis 7's. The entire soundstage wasn't as good in fact. I refunded mine to get the Pro wireless, which has its own issues tbf and I honestly considered going back to the standard Arctis 7's, or 9's.

They’re comfy and do their job well. A bit pricey tho

I have worn mine for 8 hours straight so many times and never had this issue. Definitely not normal, if it’s still under warranty I would try to get a replacement.

Steel Series headsets *are* great. They’re making broad generalizations, which are usually right. Gamer branded headsets are usually trash, but steel series is an exception. I’ve had my nova 7 for years now (2022~) with no sign of wear and tear. If (when) they eventually break I plan on buying another from steel series. The only downside is their proprietary software. It’s clunky and filled with dumb apps for a million games I don’t even play. Edit: I know the audio quality won’t be as good as studio headphones, but I don’t care. It’s good enough for me, and I play plenty of competitive fps. I like headsets because I don’t want a huge mic+stand on my desk. A retractable mic is a must for me.

Facts. My Arctis Nova 7’s are awesome. Except for the software lol. It’s a pain in the ass to have to set sonar as the primary source every time.

The Arctis steel series ones that are marketed for Xbox work with PlayStation too and I see now they have some PlayStation branded ones too

honestly you can’t really go wrong with most of those.cos most wireless headsets sound good enough for ps5 anyway. but the real difference shows after a few hours of wearing them. stuff like clamp pressure, padding, and headband weight make or break long sessions. also check how each handles cross device use. some headsets (like the nova 7p) make switching between console and pc or phone easy. also [this guy](https://medium.com/@bnazir592/my-pc-setup-journey-wireless-headsets-were-the-hardest-part-to-nail-down-53f6c38dfef6) started building a pc and grabbed some dope components. like the corsair keyboard and asus monitor. he also picked the steelseries nova for the headset. so you can also check what he has to say about it. the sony pulse 3d sounds nice but has weaker battery and doesn’t feel as comfy for marathon gaming. if you play late at night or share a space then closed back designs help a ton. cos they keep sound from leaking and block background noise better. and whatever you get, just update the firmware before judging the mic quality. cos a lot of them improve after patches.

Steel series makes some absolutely amazing headsets. I have used hyper x, Corsair, turtle beach, the original ps head set, Logitech, and the one that stood out the most and I have never put down is the steel series arctis nova 7.

Pretty good, the app is good, you definitely need EQ to make them sound good. Comfort is good, better than most. Only downside is the cheap look and feel, only plastics, no aluminium like nova 7 or pro

Who needs hotswap batteries when you can buy two Nova 7 and swap them out. Apply the same EQ/profile settings and it's a smooth transition Edit: and it's still cheaper to do it that way than get a Pro with potential issues

I got mine at Walmart, see them regularly on sale 115-120, my set was 120 and they've been flawless for ~2yrs. Would gladly get another pair and just hot swap the whole headset

I tried a few headset last month (PC gaming) SteelSeries Nova 7P, Audiotechnica M50X, Benedynamic DT880 Pro, and HyperX cloud 2. These are my opinion as day-to-day game and music enjoyer. Not an audiophile. I’m using EQ with Steel series GG - Sonar. Nova 7 and hyperX are wireless and closed back. M50X (closed back) and DT 880 pro (semi-open-back) are wired. I settled down for HyperX cloud 2 (upgraded with wicked cushion) for wireless and DT 880 pro for wired with DAC. Nova 7 is awesome, but it falls short on 2 pain points - too small for my head and plastic hinges. I fear I’ll break it in months from my daily usage/abuse. Otherwise they are terrific. M50X is also good with crystal clear sounds… but I prefer open back of the DT880 Pro more. DT880 Pro also has bigger ear cushion, more comfortable long gaming session. Purely personal preference. HyperX cloud 2 works wonders for me. Good sound and bass. Even better when used with EQ. When compared to Nova 7, it has better omph bass in wireless mode (nova 7 is a beast when plugged in). DT 880 pro is my spare for when the hyperX ran out of battery or when I need a better sound for movie immersive-ness. It just works. As your partner wanting wireless, give HyperX and SteelSeries a try. They are both closed back with good reviews. YMMW. These are under $150. If you can spend $200+ then there are other tier of headset that’s outside of my budget range.

I think the Stealth 600 is better. I got the Nova 7x and returned it in a week. Got a Stealth 700 instead and I can't tell you enough how good it is!

This may, or may not, be relevant but as a glasses wearer the Arctis Nova 7P has been the only headset for me that I could wear for 12+ hour gaming session and not cause me to have a massive headache by ramming my glasses into my skull. The other bonus is the ability to simultaneously connect to the Ps5 through the dongle and bluetooth to my Ipad, or something else, to listen to music while I game.

The gen 2 comes with support for the arctis mobile app which means you don’t need to use sonar and you can just select presets from your phone for whatever game you are playing. A lot easier than using sonar

I have the Nova 7X in white and its a solid set. Good sound (I use the focus preset). Simultaneous Bluetooth audio from another device like a phone. Very comfy, decent microphone that gets the job done, long battery life and USB-C charging, and it doesn't break the bank. The 7X works on all devices including Xbox. The Nova 5 series allows you to change audio presets over the phone, but loses simultaneous bluetooth audio. The 7 series would require a PC with SS Engine (GG) to make changes to the audio.

I have the 7P. Recently. Good for casual gaming. Im no pro gamer. Just want to hear directions. Footsteps. Clear chat audio. And have good battery.. These tick those boxes and feel somewhat premium. Use on PS5 of course I use AD700x on pc if i want to be more of an audiophile.

I tried the Pros, 7x, and 5x - kept the 5x. For the money VERY little difference in sound quality, IMO. I paid $118 just a few days ago.

steelseries arctis nova 7, great sound (idk im not an audiophile if it makes sound im happy), the software is a bit annoying yet great at the same time cuz theres preset audio settings for tons of games (idk dont ask me i can't hear the difference) and the headset also has spatial sound (just remember to turn it on in the software!), very nice battery too, lasts quite a while and is quick to charge. only downside is that after a while (2+ hours for me I think) it does get a bit uncomfortable on the ears, idk why but I think its cuz the ear cups are a bit small. Easily avoided by taking a break after a while tho which is something you should be doing anyway.

Wireless the way to go. I have a wired Razer Kraken 3 which has good sound and comfort but not so much a quality build. Headband snapped, wire wore out, pleather wearing out. Good thing I got it as a gift. +1 for any Steel Series Arctis wireless as well. I ended up buying cheap $30 wireless from Amazon which works fine but not the same as a headset that has software to go with it. Even with Razer Kraken, the sound quality is better if you have a Dolby Atmos license (~$10?) for the virtual surround sound enhancements vs the Windows Sonic which is built into Windows.

I am seeing the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X at around 130€ and it's my go-to recommendation. Mic and audio quality is great but not excellent, however the headset makes up for that in the sheer amount of features. It's a wireless headset that supports simultaneous bluetooth so you can still answer calls while you're gaming, and the headset works on all platforms wirelessly, not just Xbox.

It would be helpful if you could list your preference for wireless or wired, and a rough idea of your budget and what region you're in. But personally, I recommend the Steelseries Arctis 5X or 7X. Steelseries makes several headsets in their Arctis Nova line, but the ones with the X next the number are Xbox compatible. I think they're a much better headset than the official Xbox Wireless headset, the biggest one being compatibility. The Official Xbox wireless headset is convenient in that it connects to the console using the Xbox Proprietary Wireless Protocol, so you pair it to the console like a controller. You can also pair it to a phone at the same time for music and taking phone calls. The Steelseries Arctis Nova 5X and 7X headsets come with a wireless USB dongle that you need to plug in the console, but the benefit of this is that they work on waaaay more than just Xbox. They are one of the few headsets that works on all platforms, meaning it can be used on Xbox One/Series, Playstation 4/5, Switch/Switch 2, PC, android, etc. On top of that, while the Nova 5X lets you toggle between the transmitter and bluetooth, the 7X supports simultaneous bluetooth like the Xbox headset does, so you can pair it to a phone and take calls while you are gaming. They also both have excellent battery life, and my favourite feature: they have retractable boom mics. That means when you're not gaming, you can tuck the boom mic into the headset and they look like normal headphones that you can use for things other than gaming.

Oh, forgot to mention, in another comment you mentioned that you were very interested in on-headset game/chat volume balancing. The Arctis Nova 7X also have this feature. There are two wheels on the headset: one for volume, and one for game/chat balance. Hope that helps!

Arctis Nova 7 works very well for me. Also it’s quite convinient as it’s wireless.

Are you still enjoying them as much? How fast do they recharge if they run out? I use my headphones quite a bit and one of the best things I find with the arctis novas is I can just fast swap the battery, but I'd love having a smaller (and portable) solution in general.

My biggest gripes with Steelseries (nova 7 owner) is the software is terrible. The audio dial to tune between gaming/chat works occasionally, there were several times where I had drivers updates that basically reset all my sound settings, I couldn’t create an account with my gmail so I had to go another email I don’t really use, and there is like 10 different headset settings in your sound settings that you need to go through and disable if you aren’t using them just so you know which ones you actually use. The headset alone: good. But the software is just a nightmare.

As a nova 7 owner, no. The software will drive you nuts. Every driver update resets your sound settings and you have to reset your standard mic settings. Been trying to find an option outside of Steel Series for a while now

I tried the nova 7 and I felt like the headband was smaller than the arctis 7... So I didn't like it. Even the earcuffs seemed smaller

Found mine on clearance for under $80 so, I obviously have no complaints! But I'd I HAD to complain.... Little bass heavy (as most gaming headsets are) and I sometimes wish they'd go a little louder (but I'm old and deaf) but overall extremely satisfied

I love my 7P+ but when I'm leaning against my back pillow the volume wheel will roll and turn down or up my headset...only thing I can complain about which is the smallest infinitesimal dumb as hell gripe 🥴 The sound adjustment and comfort (with WC Freeze PS5 earpads) is amazing and I couldn't recommend more!

I have very little headset experience but had to get one a few months back. I picked up the Steelseries arctis nova 7, I think they were on sale for like $120 and honestly they're pretty damn good. last pair I had was a 9 year old sony studio headset that lacked bass and noise cancellation, so the arcis nova 7 are night and day obviously. Big pro for me is, I'm generally a speaker gamer and i like my games loud and booming. Audio quality and bass are good enough for me to actually prefer wearing my headphones during most times of the day. on top of being pretty comfortable with a very nice battery life, I'd recommend em. Cons aren't enough for me to hate on em, but they're a tad annoying. 1. I have to disconnect the BT dongle and plug it back in everytime I boot up my PC if I want to use my headphones, otherwise it just fails to reconnect. It's not too bad since i plug em into my front ports, just a mild inconvenience. 2. However, I notice a lot of times the headphones have a hard time splitting audio when multitasking. Again maybe this is just a headset thing, as it's not prevalent with my speakers, but when gaming on one monitor and listening to youtube/streaming on my 2nd monitor, it sounds like the audio gets kinda meshed on top of eachother rather than hearing each dedicated source on each side. This makes it hard to multitask like I like to do because I can't really hear my video streaming source over whatever game I'm playing, and this is despite heavily lowering in game audio settings, while trying to avoid not hearing the game entirely.

The Bluetooth connection is a little jank in that I have to disconnect and reconnect the dongle to the usb port every time I boot up my pc but it’s a minor inconvenience. But, with that being said, there's of course a difference in quality with what you get with $50 vs $200. I would personally recommend the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P or 7X. Be careful if you're on console because it has 2 versions of the headset, one that has a dongle that works with PlayStation and the other Xbox. I use a steelseries arctics nova. I got it fairly recently (like a month ago) and i can hear the smallest of sounds when I play pretty darn well. It's also fairly lite weight and has a long battery life.

Arctis Nova 7 here. No breakage and I share it with my kids at my single gaming pc station.

I found them ok, the sound was ok unless you tweaked it with the Sonar software. The problem with that is I have a sim racing setup with haptics that uses a usb soundcard and Sonar kept messing up those settings and defaults. Also, I found them hot and the white ones discolored without much use after a couple of months. I did like the retractable microphone, but even it was awkward at times because it would bend in the right way. I ended up giving them to my son and buying the new earbuds that Steelseries came out with. Much better sound out of the box, you can tweak it on your phone and not worry about the Sonar software. They do all the same stuff with switching from 2.4 to bluetooth etc. Just my 2 cents.

I have the arctic nova wireless. And it’s been the best bit of money I’ve spend in ages. It’s so easy being wireless and in my opinion it’s ridiculously comfy. I’ve been playing for many years now and it’s just by the best I’ve had

My Nova 7 with "Gadgetrytech's" Game preset is pretty amazing when footsteps are important. Game winning infact with Sonar.

Gaming headphones are for comfort primarily IMO. The Arctis Nova Pro is the most comfortable set of headphones I've ever tried out on, the Nova 7 was very close and way cheaper. I've listened to Staxx headphones, and currently have analog "audiophile" denons, and have had many Sennheisers. I've heard very expensive audio setups, specifically with headphones primarily. Are the Sens more accurate than the Arctis Novas? Sure. Do the Denons have better bass and treble? Sure. But the Arctis can be EQd to sound similar enough to preference. But for simplicity, and being able to instantly pair wirelessly with any device, with near no delay or noticeably audio quality degradation, yeah I'll choose convenience and overall ease or comfort. Lol man some people on here. Sure pal, go have fun hooking up a Modmic to a PS5 and wire it to your headphones. Inevitably you'll stand up and yank that wire out or off and damage something. If your on PC, then yeah you have a lot more options. But any modern console, convenience wins all.

I hadn't seen those before. They look like pretty great headphones actually. Comfort is 100% subjective preference though IMO. I'm happy with the Nova 7s, and at a reasonable price I think they are a good overall package. There's always better or worse out there.

I’ve had these for over a year and it’s a nice sounding, durable headset. They are kind of quiet imo so I use SS Sonar which makes them louder. Might be louder on consoles

It's really good, super comfy and the audio quality is great. Battery life is great and supports simoultneous btooth. Not who you’re replying to, but I had the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7s and ended up returning them to Best Buy after a couple months for the A50 Gen5s. I think something was faulty with the Novas cause the right ear was always lower volume than the left despite then both being balanced, which is why I returned them. But the Astros have a much better overall sound in my opinion. For what I was paying, I could’ve got the Arctis Pros as well, but after a few hours of researching on the day of purchase, the Astros seemed to have better reviews overall.

I have the 7x since I play 3 different platforms. I've had nothing but problems on the ps5. I've updated firmware and tried everything. The sound is hardly ever consistent. It gets choppy and static sounding constantly. People say it is bc of the wifi band. I've turned the wifi off on my TV and used ethernet on ps5 and it still happens. These headphones sound like crap 80% of the time on ps5.

Currently using Arctis Nova 7X Wireless and they are pretty ok, but i used to have [1MORE Triple Drivers](https://usa.1more.com/products/triple-driver-in-ear-headphones) and those were easily the best earphones i have used in gaming. I would have bought new ones when my first ones died, but at the moment they didn't deliver to Finland.

I just don't like how wide the dongle is... Especially if you don't have a USB hub. Other than that I love them.

Astros will be the most comfortable by far. Steel series will probably last the longest because you can swab batteries. That's the only reason I gave up my astros and changed to the steel series. But astros are definitely way more comfortable. Sound and mic quality are basically the same between the two

Big fan of the arctis 7p. Very comfortable and good battery life. The pulse 3D is ok but the rubber ear muffs feel a little gross to me. Turtle Beach 700s are also nice but for some reason TB headsets and my WiFi do not get along and I constantly get noise dropping or crackling. This rarely happens with the other headsets

I got an issue with my Arctis 7+, low sound even on max volume. Headset was bought in Poland. I wrote to them, and after about 2 weeks and destroyed headset (per their request) i got a voucher to get Nova 7 from their official website. So try it, it may work.

Yeah ik. But me as a guy with a very bad 8yo laptop and steelseries arctis nova 7 I'm fine with them. I bought them more than for audio quality for versatility, I played switch and pc at that time, and wanted discord while I played so I got this ones that can have dual audio from the dongle and Bluetooth. Mic is also really good, a bit oversaturated buy its way better than most. And compared to what I had of audio stuff, it's exceptional, but I agree it could be better, I can now hear details and bass but I see that it lacks in subbase and highest highs, but clarity is good and having lows and highs at the same time doenst make the details dissappear. And the highs are a bit wonky but to my untrained ear it's fine, can't pinpoint the issue but there is a little something making the audio a touch weird. So while I could've probably gotten some decent headphones, and a mic what I was looking for was the audio throughput, wireless, OK mic, decent audio, interconnectability and plug and play style ease of use. Plus it being able to be wired for when the battery inevitably dies since its not the pros.

I had a 7X a little while ago and nah, these are not as good. No earbuds will be as good as true over-ear headphones at the same price point. You're missing out on outer ear activation which plays a massive role in making the soundstage sound natural and immersive. The mic is also way worse, but what can you expect. These are nice to have in conjunction with an actual gaming headset for convenience reasons, but would never replace one unless you were upgrading from something truly bargain-bin.

Oh they're good, don't get me wrong. I paid the $170 for them and feel like it was totally worth it, I just wouldn't go as far as saying they would replace my real headset. You'd be totally fine with maining these, but if you don't already have a headset I'd spend that 170 on an Arctis Nova 7 instead.

Unfortunately yes, but thats what happens when you ask for the best. Steelseries are great all rounders with great quality in both build and sound. Although still expensive, there's the Arctis Nova 7X for $400 at JB or I'm sure you can find it cheaper somewhere else. I have the same ones for PC but I'm sure they're basically identical.

I actually have the nova 7 and no issue bit each time I use it I pray to not break it. I never owned a headset so filmsy.

How is the mic quality? I have the arctis Nova 7X and the sound is great but the mic quality is so bad I have to use the Pulse of my Corsairs if I want to chat with friends.

I have the artis nova 7 from an older gen and have been the best so far. Super light and comfy but sturdy. Had razer kraken before that and were decent hut prefer the steelseries

steelseries arctis are as good as it gets for me. I've tested every major headset over the last year and they've been the best sounding and by far most comfortable. they suffer from some software issues when using in pc but outside of that i will be sticking with steelseries offeringsbfor the foreseeable future

Had mine for about 6 months and I must say the are really solid headphones. Mic sounds good and is clear. They sound great and are pretty comfortable. I must say personally I’m not a fan of the hanging headband but I got used to them pretty quick

Gonna be honest, I have a buddy who splurged for Maxwell's and the mic quality was noticeably worse than his Logitech G Pro X, he had a ton of problems with their software, and on top of that they're insanely heavy with mediocre battery life. If you don't need ANC, I love my Steel Series Arctus Nova 7. They're light, I get great battery life, and simultaneously pairing to my PC and phone to answer phone calls is fantastic. I used the Steel series GG software for awhile, but ended up just disabling it and they still work like you'd expect a headset to work. They have media volume and sidetalk/monitoring volume on the headset, a mic mute button, and the power button doubles as a play/pause.

Nova pro's aren't that deep. The nova 7s were better for me. However the blacks hark v2 or v3 pro should be plenty deep for you.

I've used them a few times and in my opinion they are really nice set of headphones. Audio quality is excellent and they seem pretty well made. A guy in my squad also runs them and rates them highly. I'm use Arctis Nova 7s (on ps5/PC) but if I was on XBox I'd save money and go with the official Xbox headset.

Yes. Headset with amazing sound stage for 3d audio is incredibly detailed and immersive. Try a 3d audio game with any set of headphones you might have lying around. (I use an old set of fairly chunky hi-fi headphones). Buying a new headset I concur with other people who said Arctis steelseries with the 40mm "Nova" drivers. I honestly thought they would be a bit rubbish, at least a step down from the previous 50mm in bass. But wow, they're surprisingly good. I have a sort of neckband thing for VR racing, it feels like a HANS device and gives a sort of personal bubble of surround sound. It's a bit of a unique case, but I picked it up cheaply and it makes a huge difference (not isolated, not loud, and not TV speakers).

I like the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7P or 7X if you're multi platform. USB C fast charging and they have Bluetooth functionality to connect to your phone while you're playing.

I haven't had that issue with mine.

I’d look into a hyperx headset. Those usually are good quality and last quite a while. I haven’t found one I’m not a fan of but I’m also not an enthusiast although I currently bounce between the alpha and a Steelseries arctis headset.

I have a pair of nova 7x for Xbox and I've loved them almost exclusively for their insane comfort. I have a big head and these headphones are the only pair I've ever worn that do not start to hurt the top of my head within an hour or two. I currently own astro a50 gen1, Sony xm3, and Bose 700 and the nova 7x are still my favorite when it comes to comfort. These new headphones interest me largely for the improved audio while maintaining the unique comfort head band design. Do the other high end headsets have similar comfort levels? No matter how good a headset performs, for me comfort is king

I'm replacing my virtuouso with the nova. The v's cups are too small for my ears and the headband fatigues my skull, they are super heavy aswell. I did like the build quality and the detachable mic though. Battery has been dieing much quicker after a year but that could be my fault.

Steelseries and something in your budget in the arctis series. I am on my 3rd model. I love the headband part that doesn’t press on my head, and the material on the earpads are so comfortable.

ive had a few headsets recently and none of them have checked every box, its always something either great sound and voice but comfortability 0/10 others reversed next purchase is the artic nova 7, didnt like the astros or the hs80 corsair

Exactly my problem with these headphones. They were great in the beginning, the mic quality sounded really nasally… like air traffic controllers but you could turn the side tone off and you didn’t hear the echo feedback from your own voice. Now mine has a constant delay of 0.5-1/sec and it feels like I’m talking over myself. Very annoying and they just gave up on firmware updates. At least let us keep the old firmware, where the side tone wheel ACTUALLY WORKS??? I checked around and it seems to be the consensus if you have the Nova 7P that you have no mic mixing (AKA side tone control) in the app. I can’t use these to communicate while gaming, which is so annoying given what I paid for these to be crippled by firmware smh 😡

I just bought mine and have used it for a few days. I find when the EQ is adjusted with 3D audio turned off on PS5 for headphones they work very nice. I wear glasses and I can get a nice comfortable position as well I have a MacBook so can’t use Sonar :(. But using GG engine I used another Reddit user settings and find them very good. just adding to that as I had both 2 APW and tried to upgrade to Nova, Nova is... not user-friendly. \-If you get one of the earlier models the thubs inside of the ear muffles are too big and they will be uncomfortable to wear \-If you're low on battery (15% and less) it will start beeping every minute but 15% is like 1-2 hours of lifetime for this headset. \-Changing the battery is a nightmare, there's a hot-load function where it automatically turns back on when you switch batteries fast enough but you have to be fast and it's not designed to be easily interchangable (battery facing the wrong side compared to the hub, hard to insert, etc) \-I've been using it for a little under a year, my microphone suddenly got quiet and now people hear me 30% less well Next time I get a headphone I'm just buying an APW with it. Just make sure you do not sleep with it AND most importantly, do not play with the button to mute too much as it will wear out quickly if you are not careful.

I've owned the pro wireless and I have to say, they are a great headset. I upgraded to them from the nova 7s which turned out not to be an upgrade at all. I totally understand why the pros are great for some people but for myself, I mostly game on xbox these days, I have no use for the dac or sonar as I use atmos. I returned them and continued with the 7s. To be honest, I would just cut sonar out and use atmos regardless of what you play on. Save some money and just buy the 7s. I've heard people say they sound different but through atmos they both sound the same to me. Just my 2 cents of course but if anyone's on the fence between the pros and the 7s, buy the 7s. Dolby atmos is far better than any preset or eq you can make in gg or sonar.

My daily. fiio ft1 wired no mic tho. I use them on PC to. With a amp/xlr 2nd on my desk wireless SS nova 7x tuned tho. with a set of Wickeds cool gels. ( same sound quality as the pros ) half the cost. Better features than any other headset on the market for the price. I would put im EQ against a pair of maxwells. mic is alright once you mess with it. you have to pc tune them then use em on xbox theres a trick to flatten them out on eq setup app. then sonar tune them. Love turtle beach for their style and how lightweight they are but unfortunately I will forever choose steelseries for their clearcast mics and noise cancellation. As a gamer who uses a mic heavily for online gaming there's a massive difference in mic quality when you are joined up to 5 other players and there's always that one guy with awful mic feedback who will tell you his got a decent gaming headset and everyone tells him to mute. I do love turtle beach as a startup set though. Started my kid on turtle beach before moving them onto steelseries a couple years later. 

I use Steelseries Arctis 7 Nova, which sounds excellent and has a great mic.

Drop the edition xs and audeze maxwells; those don’t precise imaging particularly well. Not sure about the mmx330 pro. The 560s and dt900 are both great picks. The nova pro/nova 7 are good on the wireless side. Toss in the turtle beach stealth pros for that as well. The hd490 pros are like the 560s but built better. The hd550 are like the 560s but better as an all-rounder. A good amount of treble is kinda a requirement for good imaging; those are the frequencies that carry almost all of the directional information.

Had mine for a little iver a year. I LOVE my 7s I use em for my PC and other than the software not switching from my headset to my soundbar and back, they are amazing!(I just made a keyboard macro to switch them so its not even a problem anymore)I even found a YT video of an audiophile that gave a fantastic EQ for them.

Make sure to try on a headset that has a web across the top so it's not hard plastic on the top of your head. I have the steelseries arctis novas and they're so much more comfortable than my previous pair.

have been using it mainly for CoD for several months now. Was skeptical at first about the soft build and rather loose fit, but it turns out it is really comfortable and lightweight. build is medium-closed so you still hear what´s around you (and your own voice so you don´t scream). on playstation, the bluetooth option is a plus, on pc, unless you do phone calls, you don´t really need it because a pc can do almost everything a phone can. if you want to record anything in studio quality, you will need a separate mic, but that´s true for all headsets i think. I think I would still prefer a solid padded arc instead of the fabric band, but it´s still a great headset and a recommendation from me at that price point.

Well I have the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7P and it's trash city... the microphone is terrible and you get a constant echo you can't fix because it won't let you turn off the sidetone settings. So I get a 1/sec delay of everything I say... also it picks up EVERYTHING in the room?! They have two mics on the boom, once facing your mouth and another facing outwards that serves no purpose and ruins the audio. I'm gonna see if I can use my Airpods Pro or dig out my old PS4 Turtle Beach wired PS4 headset. I heard the Razer Pro is good but I'm not trying to spend $200. Buying electronics these days is tricky because they don't last and break or become obsolete so quick. I just want a good mic and decent sound... but comfortable ear pads. I will say the Nova 7P is very comfortable to wear... I bought wicked cushions but I haven't put them on yet because I don't know how lol.

I think Steelseries is terrible and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The mic is terrible and everything you say is delayed by 1/sec and it's a condenser mic and it should've been a dynamic mic. So EVERYTHING in the room is heard. Keyboards clicking and literally everyone breathing in the room. It's way too sensitive and they put a 2nd mic on the boom facing away from you??? Plus the program team isn't that good, they're app needs work or a software engineer. I have to buy another pair because these are literally useless to me unless I'm playing by myself. The speakers also get muddy with the bass and there's a lot of clipping.

You obviously haven't used the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7P. That mic isn't just trash but the echo feedback is unable to be turned off in software. So you get a delayed voice echo is obnoxious

I would not recommend SteelSeries Arctis Nova Headset based on the mic quality in itself. I have the Arctis Nova 7P and the mic is unusable and they stopped supporting firmware upgrades to fix it so you can turn off sidetone because on PS5 you get a terrible delayed echo of your voice that's delayed 1/sec. There are much better headsets for that price range IMO. Steelseries is way overhyped by a huge marketing budget. I have a perfectly fine (less than 30/hrs of gaming) almost new Nova 7P wireless headphones that work fine except for the mic. Trust me there are better options and they have a weakpoint where the earcup will eventually break off. I love the mic sits flush inside the headset and the battery life is great at like 25-30/hours but the 40mm drivers don't sound the best and even with EQ to get a proper balanced sound you can't avoid clipping.

Very good headset imo and the customer service from steelseries is unmatched imo, i bought the arctis 9x like 4 or 5 years ago and have not paid a penny for replacements and am now using the arctis nova 7x.

Did you have issues with them echoing. 

I have the Arctis Noca 7x, the sound is good but I don't like the Bluetooth controls. It opens once out of 3 by pressing the button for 1 second as written on the instructions. In addition, I tested with 2 phones, I can't get the battery level. It seems to me that for 5 years all the Bluetooth devices I buy send information on the percentage of the remaining battery.

Just got these. I can recommend them. Not tested mic yet. As for comfort: I have a large head, and am finding the clamping a bit tight however, and the earcups just fit around my ears - it's a bit snug. Nothing bad, per se, but not quite in the super comfort zone of some other headphones. They'd be fine for gaming sessions, but not something I'd want to wear all day. I'd have preferred a bit more of a relaxed fit. On the other hand, a relaxed fit means very big headphone that can turn some people off.

Having owned the arctis, and now just picked up the Scape, I can tell you that it's in a different league to the Arctis. It's very good. Not quite as good as my high end audiophile headphones, but very, very good compared to most gaming headsets. I'd rate them in the same class as the Audeze maxwell. Happy to listen to music on them. Excellent controls too. And very nice looking in person. I have a large head, and am finding the clamping a bit tight however, and the earcups just fit around my ears - it's a bit snug. The sound is the best I've heard and the ps5 audio on pcm (lossless) with the 3d Audio on and going through the profile creation is amazing. Depending on your rig you might have to use different output settings switching back to speakers. The charge lasts more than 5 hours and they are still comfortable. The mic can be slid back into the frame and it still works very well.

I've been getting by just fine with my Sony headset which is comfortable & has good noise canceling & the microphone works just fine for both chatting on PC & my phone. I guess gun to my head I'd be between Steel Series Arctics Nova headphones or Turtle Beach but Turtle Beach headsets can be pricy. Tried Arctics Nova 7P before. The build quality & comfort is really nice & being able to connect to both a Bluetooth device & with a USB C dongle is handy but no noise canceling is kind of a deal breaker & connection & sound quality has its ups & downs.

Alright so I -just- upgraded from Nova 5x, and honestly its a fantastic headset, very comfortable to wear for long periods and the sound was good quality. No qualms about the headset at all, except a small bit of it lacking a good bass, but you can EQ that. However I did have an issue with the dongle/cable. Something went wrong with my extention cable that almost shorted out my motherboard on my PC and started fucking with my Series X ability to charge controllers (other USB slots stopped working when Dongle was plugged in) My PC threw up a warning I say, a year into owning the headset, that it was drawing more power than I had, and was going to fry my mobo. OTHER THAN THAT, generally a great headset. Returned it and got the Nova 7x after the cable fiasco

What headset you recommend? Currently have a hypercloud 2 and it´s breaking down as I´ve got it for 8 years now lol, bought the hypercloud 3 and it´s whack, literally feeling pressure on my ears and the microphone is bad. Tried arctic steelseries and even that one felt like pressure on my ears.

This is what I have. They are AMAZING. Make sure to set up some sound profiles on them to get the best experience. They’re so comfy too, even though I have a relatively large head.

If you can find it on sale the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X is a great one, great build-quality, light, good sound and microphone if you tweak the EQ a bit, insanely long battery life and the simultaneous Bluetooth connection is amazing when you are on your PC and there's an incoming phone call or you want to use a console alongside it. From the ones you mentioned I know the Razer Blackshark has one of the best microphones ever on a gaming headset but can also be prone to breaking.

My steelseries Arctis headset is still going strong after 7 years. I had a hyper x one that didn’t even last a month.

I had the same thing happen and it took something like 6 months to actually get them to send me another pair via warranty. The second set was great, to be fair but I'm back on the hunt less than 2 years later as the replacement set's charger port just... Died. Won't connect.

Ahh, I see. On mine chatmix is just a dial that does nothing unless sonar is installed and the sonar audio devices are used as your output in all apps

i really like mine for music, they sound great with really good bass. better than most headsets ive tried. Sennheiser might be more of a "flat" sound profile which is more accurate but might be underwhelming.

Well as far as I know only steel series and turtle beach have those. I've owned multiple iterations of both brands. My stealth 700 gen 2 still work flawlessly after 5 years. I had to buy replacement cushions on my arctis nova 7p because the default ones are scratchy and you can hear it moving your head around (for those curious, turn the bitch off and you still hear it)

If music is a bit of a primary focus I'd say go Maxwell, if you know how to EQ and want to use Sonar. Then Nova do get good quality sound.

Have Nova 7’s and mine are already dying after not even a year… constant buzzing watching YouTube or roboting the sounds when my Fiber Internet is playing everything just fine. Literally had to go to my old headset till I can get a new headset AGAIN lol

I ended up buying both the Audeze Maxwell and the Arctis Nova 7P Gen 2. I chose the Audeze Maxwell because I wanted the best possible sound quality. I don’t really care about the weight or comfort since I only play games for about one to two hours a day — so that shouldn’t be a problem. As for the Arctis Nova 7P Gen 2, I decided to get it because it’s a newly released model and also comes in the red color I like. Mine must be still 1st-Gen's and I put them aside as my Mains and replaced them with SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7: World of Warcraft Edition, which are great for gaming, but the G Pro X are better for Music and they only make me feel hot in Summer and they are getting a bit uncomfortable after longer sessions, while wearing glasses, that's all. Mic isn’t bad, comfy after a quick cup replacement, good sound staging, decent battery life, and I LOVE the simultaneous Bluetooth/2.4 ghz connection. Yes. It’s affordable, durable and customizable. If I remember correctly, you get 36 hours of battery life on a single charge and 6 hours after charging for 15 minutes from dead. The Sonar software can be intimidating to configure at first but worth the 15-30 mins you’ll spend setting it up and tuning.

Nova 7 - been using for 13months or so. Good as new. Still sounds amazing. And very fucking comfy. Im using this at work, so basically its sitting on my head at an 8-9h daily basis. Okay I replaced the earpads for a protein leather one from the SS store, as the fabric one was keep pulling my facial hair - but it was worth that 15$.

Same, although I have an Arctis Nova 7. For some games the closed design fits better, but for music and movies the Sennheiser is much, much better in every aspect.

Do you want a head*set* or a head*phone*? The Sennheiser Momentum 4 is great but the ANC is weak.  If you want a head*set* I’d up the budget slightly for a Fractal Scape. The Arctis Nova series is also solid, from my own demos. This is coming from someone who owns and has tried much more expensive gear, if that makes you any more comfortable with my recommendation.

The problem with Bluetooth wireless headphones (which is most of them) is the lag (yes, even if they have a low latency mode) for a movie it can be ok but for gaming the lag is usually distracting and if it's a fast paced game it can make you miss something. There are a few wireless gaming headsets and earbuds that have a usb receiver that reduce the lag a lot and it would be the best match for what you want for your SO. from an audiophile, i’d recommend the one you made this thread about, audeze maxwell, and the astro a50s. i personally have the old nova pros and the newer nova 7x. sound quality id prob rank the a50s above the nova pros, but id say the convenience of the quick swap batteries can have a nice argument as well. i’ve heard a lot about the maxwells too, but i haven’t had too much experience with them personally as i don’t really have interest in another wireless set, and they haven’t went on a good enough sale for me to pull the trigger

I'm also considering replacing my Nova 7X but more for the size factor. The 7X is way too loose and just falls off my head, any idea of the G522 is smaller?

They're quite good. To my ears, the Nova Pro are still better though, they seem more detailed. The Nova 7 have more bass though, if that's your preference.

Problem with this headset is no chat/game mid wheel like the old arctis 7. You have to use their software to balance it now. Old Arctis 7 is the best headset I’ve ever owned. The nova line lacks their best feature (chat/game mix wheel) and feels cheaper than the OG Arctis. Only positive over the OG is USB-C charging. Overall the nova line is fine, but I would not tell anyone that they need to buy this headset like I used to with the OG.

I own the Arctic Nova 7p+ it’s a fantastic headset. It’s good in pretty much every way but the thing that really stands out to me about the headset is it’s just so damn comfortable. I have never had a headset I can wear for 10 hours and my ears still be comfortable besides these. I highly recommend and yes the battery life is really good on them, if I had to guess they last me around 10-15 hours on a single charge 

I have Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X.

The Nova 7 is SteelSeries best headset. It's really a set it and forget it workhorse. But now that the Nova 5 is out and the app has made it useful for consoles, I truly think the Nova 5 is the way to go.

I have the SteelSeries Arctis 7 and SteelSeries Nova. The Nova is lighter and more comfortable if you have a bigger head. Unfortunately, even on the smallest setting my head is too small for it and it slides off easy. The Arctis 7 is heavier but because of the ski goggles band fits on my head very well. I mainly use the Arctis 7. I’ve had SteelSeries for many years and can’t imagine switching anytime soon.

the 7 is metal and the 5x is plastic which is lighter so the 5x is gonna feel better lol

my 5 hasn't done that, and 7 made my head hurt after a few hours bc of it weighing more, at the end of the day just personal preference
