"The tread is ultra durable. ... I play 300 days a year and they lasted about 18 months."
"Both Asics gortex and Salomon gortex Ive found to be the best I've used. ... I get probably 2-3000km out of them? ... Say 8km a day of sandstone gravel fire trails and rocky escarpments for a year. I would get 12-18 months out of them. ... Sometimes I just wear out heel rubber and foam is still good so I build it back up using Sikaflex or something to go another 6 month lol"
"This was the third Camino in those shoes and socks and will use them again when I do the Norte next year."

"I do everything in them! Hike intermediate to hard trails on the north shore and haven’t had issue. ... We frequent the mtn bike trails on Seymour and have done lots of day hikes in them."
"trail running shoes are the best compromise. ... love me some salomon xt-6"
"Good for everything. ... I use them in the city and they're great."

"I found the gore-tex to be worthwhile just because the trails can get muddy after winter and you are able to just step thru them."
"super waterproof"
"Definitely helped walking in the rain."

"started having holes in them very quickly ... I used a pair as my main hiking shoe"
"The small amount of walking on pavement has done 10x’s more damage than any hike…. ... Mesh near my pinky toes is was going mainly, it’s torn and new holes show up over time. ... Plus the ball or base of my sole is almost completely gone now. ... So I’m not sure if they’re “worth the price” if you plan to wear them daily."
"somewhat lacking in durability."

"a pair of Salomon's that I didn't realize were Gore-Tex until it was too late and I abandoned in Leon."
"Yeh the GTX is a complete con. ... They will sweat like anything, leave sweat stains and your feet will be cold and wet."
"they developed a sweat stain and it wont go away ... Should have known living in a humid and hot climate not really ideal 😮💨"

"You’re not on the trails as much as you’re on boardwalk and cobblestones. That’s what killed my feet."
"I had trail runners (Salomon XT-6) and they gave me the worst blisters of my life. ... I typically don’t get blisters from any shoes, so I was heartbroken that this happened."
"aren't really for trail running/hiking anymore ... not intended anymore for actual trails ... more of a casual/city shoe and not intended anymore for actual trails ... Basically it's a gorpcore shoe for trendy fashion"

"Make sure your shoes are really cushy (mine were not). ... even on the Litoral/Coastal there are pretty of cobblestones and they just wreck your feet."
"The downside of trail runners to me (Solomans) was I would sometimes get foot bruises on sharp rocky ground. ... My Solomans had a rock plate (thank you for pointing out my omission), but I feel a big difference with my Murrell Moab's."

The xt6 is a trail running shoes isn't it? If you already have them and it fits, run in those for a bit. Then you can figure out if you want something wider, less drop, different tread etc. Brands fit everyone differently, some people love shoes that give me awful blisters. If you decide you enjoy trail running, then maybe ask this sub what shoes might be best for the types of trail you'll be on and the type of fit you like. Then go try some on, ideally with the help of someone at a store, though I've had mixed experiences with shoe store staff, especially when i was a beginner and didnt know what to ask for.
r/trailrunning • Shoe recommendations for beginner ->The best ones are the ones that fit!! I have wide toes and wore Solomon trail runners for a long time. I switched to Merrell Moab hikers a couple of years ago. Both are 13 Wide (EEE).
r/backpacking • What is the best trail runners for backpacking? ->The downside of trail runners to me (Solomans) was I would sometimes get foot bruises on sharp rocky ground. I switched to hiking shoes (Merrell's) and I feel it's a better compromise between trail runners and boots. Pretty light and more comfortable.
r/backpacking • Trail runners for backpacking ->My Solomans had a rock plate (thank you for pointing out my omission), but I feel a big difference with my Murrell Moab's. To each there own, I know trail runners are the favorite, the Moab works better for me (I have dainty feet, I guess).

r/trailrunning • Most durable trail running shoes? ->I use Solomon trail runners, non-waterproof because my feet overheat easily in the summer. They've seen the presis in the summer without issues, and have decent grip.
r/wmnf • Boots for the Whites in Summer? ->Salomon Gore Tex sneakers. My second choice are Saucony Gore Tex sneakers.
r/discgolf • Disc golf shoes? ->trail running shoes are the best compromise. love me some salomon xt-6
r/onebag • Help!! What shoes do I bring ->Salomon XT-6. They’re lightweight and comfortable, with a grippy sole that’s great for hikes but also easy to walk in. The mesh upper keeps my feet from sweating or smelling, and they dry quickly if they get wet. Plus, they’re not bulky and come in a lot of nice color options.
r/travel • What’s your biggest struggle with shoes when traveling light? ->What do you want to do? I love my Solomon trail runners but if I'm sliding down shale I'll take the Keens all day long. Both are good brands in my experience.
r/HikingAlberta • Which one should i get? im both comfy with both its just im asking for the durability of the brands, any reviews is a great help. ->I live in my Salomon’s and hike/run in them 4-6 times a week. I have a narrow heel and find that I have heel slip and therefore blisters in anything more stiff than a trail runner. The Xt-6 works well for me and I’ve had like 4 pairs in a row. The sizing is weird on them so I recommend trying on in store. I also don’t get the goretex versions because I don’t care if my feet get wet 😜. I prefer my shoes to breathe. I’ve had Merrell, hokas and asics as well but found the hokas too soft so they irritated my feet and they were too lifted and therefore unsteady on rocks and roots. Asics were also too soft and more for running only. The Merrells were probably the best hiking boot but i find them bulky and tooo stiff for daily walks. To each their own. I have worked with shoes for 8+ years and can tell you that a strong midsole with good stability will be better for your foot longterm than flexible and cushy runners.
r/vancouverhiking • Trail runner/hiking shoe recommendations for a beginner? ->I have the Catamount 2 and I really like it (ran in them today), but actually prefer the Cascadia. Also, another vote for skipping GTX. You probably don't need it (or want it) for most runs.
