i personally like a convertible seat & just using bassinet on a stroller or wearing baby in a wrap/carrier because infant seats only last until around age 1. convertible car seats last until they’re in a booster (8yo ish depending on weight & height)

for convertible seats i personally don’t like any rotating seat because they all have low rearfacing limits & extended rearfacing is absolutely the safest thing you can do. one of the only things you can control as a parent safety wise. most of these also can be used for a newborn

We’re in the same position where we have complications and our travel plans got canceled. Also didn’t really have a budget so I just picked what I wanted most in my stroller and wanted something on the smaller/lighter side and went with the nuna triv and pipa aire rx car seat. The stroller seat can be switched out for the car seat, and you can also get the bassinet attachment if you need it.
The doona is actually very heavy and really short. I’m 5’2” and I feel like it’d be uncomfortable for anyone taller than me, plus it doesn’t have any storage.
Nuna pipa air rx clips in the seats. I went into Nordstrom and they were all so helpful showing us how things work. I recommend going there or another baby store that exclusively sells strollers/car seats.
