It’s very personal. I find multiple monitors annoying/distracting, so I use a 34” UW (AW3425DWM). This model regularly goes on sale for $100 less than list price. I play pretty much exclusively single player games that benefit from UW, so there’s that too. That being said, I know someone that uses 8 monitors, and wouldn’t have it any other way. He finds less than 4 stifling.
I was in a similar situation and was about to order the AW3425DWM as the Dell was way out of my budget for a work monitor. I stumbled on a press release from Samsung few months ago when they released this monitor and immediately realized its a cheaper variant of the Dell. I pulled the trigger despite it not having any reviews online and had decided to return it if it didnt suit me. I have been commenting on every post i see someone recommending the Dell U4025Q. It was the go-to work monitor with best PPI for office use. The G75F is at half the price and can be used for gaming too as compared to the Dell with better response time. It doesn't have a KVM which is a plus to have when in an office but the price justifies its drawbacks. I still wonder did Samsung target this monitor only for gaming? If yes, then why make it 5k2k with a VA panel. They dont advertise it as a work monitor amywhere even though its mainly being bought for that purpose as a rival to the Dell U4025Q.
Got it 2 weeks ago. It is amazing. Wonder why no reviews are out yet? Samsung refreshed its entire Odyssey lineup with a new G5, G6 and G7. Im running my G75F at 5k2k for productivity on a M1 Air and no complaints so far. My office has a lot of sunlight so might want to reduce that a bit. Hard to see in a bright room imo. Otherwise, its the cheapest 5k2k for productivity at $650.
The alienware AW3425DWM is a solid choice.
Ah I just got mine today. Here were the top 3 picks I narrowed down to: * MSI MPG 346CQRF X24 * Alienware AW3425DWM * AOC CU34G4Z There were several other options but I eliminated them. Ended up going for the MSI. MSI has a higher refresh rate than the Alienware, and the Alienware had smearing at Extreme response time. MSI also had higher static contrast and an AI tools function (not sure how good it is). There isn't much information on the MSI though.
I just bought AW3425DWM and I must say I am very happy with it. Havent tried much work on it yet since I got it yesterday, but for gaming it is really good for that price. Didn't notice any ghosting or VRR flicker playing ARC Raiders. I am coming from 27" IPS, 1440p 144Hz and overall i lile the Alienware
How about the AW3425DWM ?
Never had any issues with mine
1000R is quite a lot more aggressive than 1500R. If you're making any type of content, I feel like that is too much. 1500 is fine though. I'm. Using that myself, while working in the animation industry, and I don't feel like it is too much.
