Sigh, yeah. I want to move on from my AW3821 but no one makes 21:10. A 6K 32” OLED would be nice too.
Sorry, I know this has been discussed before, I just can't decide. I currently have AW3821DW which I like, but sometimes I'd like it bigger. I only play games on this rig like Rust, Satisfactory, BF1. I have 9800x3d RTX 5090. I can't decide if 57" is too wide or if 45" is too curved and don't know how 21:9 vs 32:9 would be support wise. If you had to pick one for just gaming which is the winner - and cost aside...
Ok I just visited BB to check out the LG, and I was a little disappointed. I just didn't like the 800R curve and it actually felt less wide than my AW3821DW - perhaps because of the aggressive curve. Anyway I'm leaning toward the new LG 39GX950B-B as it think it would be a good replacement with OLED and 5k2k.
AW38 gang here. No longer the craziest spec-wise, but I swear the combination of the 38" size, slight curvature, and nano IPS make it one of the best monitors ever made. 32" monitors are too awkwardly tall and side-by-side windows too misproportioned. Single 27" too small. LG5K2K too curvey. The AW38 pretty much nailed it. The short go I had with the Asus 27" 4K OLED almost had me convinced to swap to a 2 x 27" 4K setup. I think I did find the screen causing eyestrain, but really it was a black screen issue during gaming that had me send it back. Hiding task-bar also wasn't my favorite but I resigned to just using it like an IPS. Still looking for the right replacement and maybe this forthcoming 39 incher is it.
I had one, I returned it, I disliked the FOV (distortion on the edges), and the head moving. Got a AW3821DW, happy !
If you were me I’d say you’re crazy. A 38” IPS looks like shit compared to oled. Blacks are shit pixel response is mediocre and colours/hdr isn’t even close. I have my 34” ultrawide IPS as my second monitor and it reminds me every day how inferior that tech is. But you’re not me you’re you! And if you aren’t getting your $1200 in value and are instead happy with your current monitor even more then why spend the $1200? I love the curve but some hate it. Those people should find something else. I love the size but it’s too big for some. Or who knows maybe too small for others haha. Those people should not spend over $1000. If you like it, keep it, it’s an amazing monitor. But if not I’m sure that money could be put to better use.
I'm on the same boat, the 38"-40" really is an amazing sweetspot. All I really want is a 38 with higer PPI. And hopefully not an OLED.
