I’d probably recommend one of these three: * Dell S3425DW (34-inch display that meets your requirements) * LG 34WQ73A-B (not sure about power delivery for the Mac) * Samsung S65UA In my experience as a software developer, if you’re going to be screen sharing your code with your team members regularly, ultrawides can sometimes cause problems but there are ways around it. When it comes to coding, I really love ultrawides and I generally it's a good experience for most people. I've heard some people like the separate 2 monitor setups more and once they switched to UW they instantly went back so it comes down to personal preference imo. I also recommend using a window management app so it’s easier to organize your windows. Regarding using your laptop alongside the monitor, I’ve seen people do it, but generally, most people run their Macs in clamshell mode with the monitor. It can be done, but in most cases, I’ve heard of people keeping their browser open on the Mac and their music or Slack open on the monitor instead. If you get a flat ultrawide monitor, you’re mostly going to be staring at the middle. Most people don’t end up using the entire screen, which is why they often put things like music or Slack off to the side. My go-to setup is code in the middle, music to the left, and Discord or Slack to the right, with the browser open in the middle on my Mac. Most of the time, however, I just run my Mac in clamshell mode and have a browser and code editor in the center, and then whatever else on the far right. Like I mentioned before, when you use a really big ultrawide, most of the time you’ll end up looking in one general area and not really utilizing the rest of the screen.
For productivity, I’d recommend going with any IPS monitor in the 34-inch range — that’s really the sweet spot. From the options you mentioned, the LG or Samsung models are solid choices, and even the Dell 32" curved works great. If you're looking for something geared more toward gaming and video, then I’d suggest going with an OLED. Hey there I used LG 34WQ73A-B with 60W delivery for the past 5 years and just recently upgraded to Asus XG349C. I can’t recommend the LG monitor enough. It’s currently 399 on Amazon with the 90W delivery option. It has checks all the boxes on the your list. The only reason why I upgraded to the Asus was for the 180HZ for PC gaming as the LG was 60hz only. In terms of screen sharing, I just share the window the team needs to see instead of the whole screen.
I'm happy using a single LG 34" (3440x1440@60Hz). Enough room for 2 pages of A4 size and then some, or e.g. a PDF and some Ghostty splits. And also nice for movies. I usually use my apps in full screen mode. If I ever need more room there's still the possibility of opening the 16" MBP screen (but that happens rarely).
I use a 34 curved ips from LG. There are also mini LEDs from TCL.
If you get the 34" IPS LG, it's produced a good picture so far.
I still have a 34" LG IPS monitor, it's a good piece of equipment, and until I find the right OLED...👌
I adore my current LG monitors (2x 34” IPS, 1x 27” IPS), but they’re fairly old now, lack the OLED displays, and I’ve been concerned about upgrading cause larger form factors have had pixel density issues. This seems like the perfect mixture of size, tech, and would fix perfectly into my mixed work from home and gaming setup.
Damn, I should have waited those 2 years.. I bought used LG IPS 34" for the price of new DWF
I wanted to get it - I stuck with the 34" IPS LG. But the resolution on this and the 38" screen size was super appealing.
