I found a really great workaround that practically solved my PPI issue with text. I just bought the LG 39" OLED WQHD Curved Monitor (39GS96QB, deal from Costco) and immediately noticed the fuzzy text issue. I asked ChatGPT and it prompted me to search "`Adjust ClearType text`" This worked amazingly well and now I am not struggling to read things on a white backdrop. Exact steps: * **Search**: `Adjust ClearType text` in Windows search * Go through the wizard and choose the clearest text in each step. * This helps Windows adapt to the subpixel layout of your OLED.
got this bad boy off Costco about 6 months ago for $600 and couldn't be happier. it is 3440x1440 native, I use DLDSR on 5160x2160 with rtx 5080 and it's awesome!
Yeah, native 95 ppi is definitely rough. I just use DLDSR to brute force the internal res to 5K and let it downsample. Completely bypasses the low PPI issue for me, looks crisp af for my case
I take it back. It's good especially with high frames
I have this monitor and I honestly dread the day I have to replace it. The size is perfect and I actually like the fact it's only 3440x1440. It still looks sharp enough in games to me and it's not very difficult to run.
I like my new 39" UW over my 32", but it's not all about pure size. The refresh rate is better and it's OLED. It's also lower resolution, so there are trade-offs. Deco Gear makes a 40" 4K UW, but it's only 60 or 75 hz. There aren't really any UWs bigger than 34" that are budget-friendly, so if cost is an issue you might just wanna go with a 34" UW to give yourself a ton more buying options.
I had an LG 32UN500-W and replaced it with an LG 39GS96QB-B.
Yeah I got the LG 39GS and I just love the dimensions but at times I feel like 3440x1440 is kinda low PPI and 5k is just too much to run confortably without some hardware limitations. Would insta buy a 3840x1600 39'' version.
I've got an LG 39" 3440x1440 monitor now. I've been contemplating getting that around black Friday when there are sales at my local microcenter
I got mine Friday to replace my 39" 3440x1440 Ultragear and I have zero regrets. It's incredible and makes for the best gaming experience I've had hands down.
At this resolution you can't really go wrong with either monitor. I prefer the additional size so I'll be sticking with my 45", especially because the price on the 39" is probably going to be unreasonable for quite a while. I had the 39" 3440x1440 UltraGear before going to the 45" and the extra vertical space is nice. It removes the sort of squished feeling that can come with some ultrawide monitors.
I've only been looking into WOLEDs but found that they also covered planned QDs at around 16 minutes in [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjCQzKwgBow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjCQzKwgBow) They have a less aggressive curve at 1800R Currently have an 1800R VA panel myself and it's great for media, productivity and gaming. I just haven't seen any mentioned in the 39" size for your height preference. LG does have a 39" currently but its 3440 x 1440. Similar to running 1440p monitor on 32" screen. Not sure if PPI is a dealbreaker as well. Here's the WOLED roadmap for comparison, has past and present models at about 19:40 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyYRevThUUw&t=1061s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyYRevThUUw&t=1061s) As for more curve talk, I'm still hesitant about the 800R curve from looking at pictures from above, but most people say it's great for 39" and higher models and you get used to it for gaming. My initial ideal monitor was WOLED 34" but with a less aggressive curve, but that's not in LGs roadmap for the next 2 years so I'm just going to give 800R a try. Saw one in person at a BestBuy with a game demo running. I thought it was fine for gaming, but don't know how it'll feel for movies or productivity, so my plan is keep my VA for productivity and WOLED for gaming. So that's the current market for 21:9 ultrawides 34" QD OLEDs at 3440x1440 now in 240hz (109 ppi) 39" LG WOLEDs at 3440x1440 now in 240hz (95 ppi) 39" LG WOLEDs at 5120x2160 late this year (142 ppi) I also haven't kept up as much with OLEDs so theres a chance a 39" QD may have been announced at CES
I agree with this. I thought it would be too much, but I absolutely love it on my desk. Barely even notice it
