Ah if you have a 5080 then yeah you’ll definitely gonna have to use frame gen and dlss. then again since you’re getting a dual mode you can switch to 1080p for competitive multiplayer games and then switch to 5k for single-player games. i’ve been doing that for my 45 gx9
I own an LG 45 5k2k with a 3080 ti and a The games I play like zenless zone zero (max settings), cyberpunk 2077 (surprisingly at high settings with dlss), runs well in 70-90 fps. Older titles run super beautifully (like nier automata. I also play marvel rivals, overwatch, and deadlock in the 2k mode, usually getting 200fps. (At low settings, probably being cpu bottlenecked) Unless you plan on playing the most recent AAA games (or mhwilds) you’ll have a good time gaming if you don’t mind using dlss and lowering the graphics. as for OLED i’ve ran mine for over 1600 hours and haven’t found a burn in. Hell Optimum tech showed his 32 inch oled running for 3000 hours and even his burn ins are barely noticable. a lot of modern oleds have a tool to reduce the time it takes for burn ins to settle so you’ll honestly do fine with your workload.
It’s a great monitor but I used it for all of a couple hours this afternoon and already decided to send it back. I’m 100% productivity at the moment with a M3 Mac Pro and 250 nits peak brightness in SDR mode is terrible. (Also made my eyes hurt) I didn’t care for the 800R curve either. Hoping the rumored 39” improves on the GX45 specs with a bump in brightness, PPI, and a less aggressive curve. Until then looks like I’m sticking with my U4025QW.
I can answer this! For some games, particularly those that are not that competitive, and have DLSS built in, it’s excellent and I play battlefield 6, and The Finals, in 5K2K. The 165 doesn’t really affect my gameplay. BUT, for Destiny 2, I do feel sometimes that the lower HZ affects my shots. I tend to put it down to 1080p, 300FPS and se to get better shot registration. Same is true for CS2 and valorant as well, overwatch the same. So if you want the flexibility to have the most immersive 4K UW experience AND high refresh rate 1080p competitive FPS, it’s very good. But if you know you really only want the competitive FPS gameplay I’d rather have 1440p, 500+hz monitor, or maybe the new pulsar monitors.
I think the final point on these monitors is well stated in this review, very good and offer a unique experience, but 165hz is not adequate in 2026. Until we get 360hz 4K I don’t think we can talk endgame. I have the 45” version and I’ll keep it bc there are situations where the widescreen immersion is worth the trade of worse motion clarity, but it is a trade, not a no compromise win.
Currently running a 45GR95QE - it's elite for gaming, but for work, especially coding, the resolution at this size is not ideal. The 39" would be a massive upgrade for productivity!
Most retailers have generous return periods. I’ve bought the monitor and tried it out for a week or 2 to decide if I wanted (I did not with the 45gx9) so I just packed it up and took it back for a full refund at best buy.
I’ve returned multiples of these just to pick it up again. But not for the same reasons as yours. I just have a hard time getting used to matte WOLED coming off of glossy QD OLED.
I only have the 1440p model, but the 45 inch 800r form factor is literal perfection for gaming.
Bro the monitor is LEGENDARY for any kind of strategy or 4x games. I play Anno and civ and it's mesmerizing
