I have the MSI MPG 49CQPX QD-OLED 240Hz and have been pretty pleased with it. Got it for $950 on sale brand new. Warranty covers burn in

I see. For the work I do, being able to have 2 to 3 tabs in view simultaneously is more important to me than pixel density. I considered the LG as well, but nothing about it suggested it was worth double the price of the MSI, at least not to me. The MSI I bought was definitely a clear upgrade from the QLED G9 it replaced. I’ll consider pixel density as a factor next time I shop for monitors.

It’s awful, lol. I have been swapping between them about every 3 days. One thing I discovered on the 5K2K (so far only in shadow of the tomb raider) is that the in game HDR slider does not respond. I’m assuming this has something to do with it not being compatible with the 5120 x 2160 resolution. For whatever reason, that really bothers me. I guess when you pay X amount for something, you want everything to work. It’s nice to see another individual cranking digital vibrancy. I set mine to 65%. That tells us that we prefer the color output of QDOLED. We’re trying to mimic that on a WOLED screen. I will say, games that support 32:9 (most of what I play does) look truly amazing. Gives me a chuckle every time I load up a new game. I think it comes down to an internal battle. On paper, the 5K2K is superior in every way. In real use case, there’s not that much of an improvement at all, some things the 49” actually handles better. Basically, I feel like I have to convince myself that 1440P is almost on par with 4K amongst these two specific panels. It just doesn’t feel right picking the “lesser” panel.

I would recommend the MSI 49" monitors as they have USB-C power delivery and a KVM. You can do picture by picture on most of the 49" monitors but you will also half the refresh rate as well. The MSI come in a 144hz and 240hz model so you would for sure want the 240hz model (MPG 491CQPX).

No, I'm using the MPG 491CQP that is comparable to the Samsung G9. Same size and OLED panel. If you want 240hz there is also the MPG 491CQPX. This model also high higher USB-C power delivery.

I don't know what OLED you had previously but I had the same issues on a first gen Alienware OLED and also ended up not keeping it. I now have the MSI 49" OLED and have no text issues. All of the 49" OLEDs are Samsung Gen2 with the subpixel updates so they should be similar. I have also worked on this monitor for about a year with no burn in issues. Not trying to change you mind but it may be worth looking at one.

Pretty much every 49" other than the Samsung will not have the smart features. My MSI 49" does not.

I've had the 5k2k for 2 days. For reference, I'm coming from an MSI 240hz QD-OLED 49" 32:9 monitor. I've done a bunch of comparing side by side. My biggest concern going in was the lack of a glossy screen. In games, it actually hasn't bothered me at all. It looks incredible. And the HDR highlights are much better so contrast in HDR games appears higher. Even though it's only certified for True Black 400, it peaks around 1300 nits. Text clarity is better for productivity. I love the extra height over the super ultrawide I'm coming from, especially for video editing. The curve was a lot to get used to for productivity at first, but if you're sitting at the right distance and centered, it's almost unnoticeable. For gaming, it's great. The biggest difference for me really comes down to WOLED vs QD-OLED. That seems to primarily manifest in color reproduction. The LG is more NATURAL. The MSI is very vibrant. I've gotten used to this vibrance, so initially I was disappointed. However, with more time spent, I really appreciate the natural colors, especially for productivity and video editing. After more back and forth the MSI started to look OVER saturated, even though they're both calibrated. As such, I think the LG will be better for photo and video editing. Games that have saturation or contrast sliders were easy to tune the way I like. Games that don't... Well, they look more natural, and less saturated. BUT! I think I found a "fix" to get the best of both worlds. Using the Nvidia control panel, I adjusted the desktop colors from 50% to 60% for brightness, contrast and vibrance. This is an excellent middle ground for me, as games now have way more pop and vibrant colors, without being as over saturated as the MSI. And if I want the natural colors, I can drop back to 50%. Still get all the other benefits. I haven't made a final decision yet but I think I'm keeping it. It's working great for both work and play. Games are seriously impressive, especially with the NCP hack mentioned above. The improved hdr is noticeable, and the size is amazing - if I pull it a little closer than recommended, it feels like gaming on an imax screen. Very immersive. Sorry for the long comment, hopefully this info helps someone.

Love my 491cqpx. Can be found for $900 at MicroCenter. But for 34” 21:9 probably the AW3425DW is the pick

MSI 491CQPX that I picked up about 3 weeks ago. I was coming from a 32” 4k OLED as my main and a 27” IPS 1440 vertical. Have always used two screen for almost 10 years. It took a couple of days just to adjust but I got used to it pretty quickly. Now you may think that a 4k to 1440p downgrade would be bad but I actually don’t notice much of a difference. I get used to things pretty quickly. Yes, text isn’t as sharp. Videos I notice a slight decrease in sharpness but nothing crazy. I actually prefer having a shorter monitor as I don’t have to look up as much and can keep a more neutral head as my main window is always in the middle. Colors on this monitor have been fantastic and I do now get why people glaze QD Oleds as much as the do here. My 32” was a WOLED. My big reason for picking up this monitor was for sim racing. Going from a 16:9 to 32:9 is a massive FOV improvement for being able to see. It’s also a slight bonus that the it has about 10-12% less pixels than a 16:9 4k so my performance took a nice little boost. But all in all no complaints. Productivity is great as well. The amount of ways you can divide a 32:9 is great. I usually have a 16:9 in the middle and two 8:9 windows on the sides. Or I’ll just split it with 2 16:9 windows if I’m doing photoshop stuff with a reference image on the other. I might try out display fusion as it would be nice to have a gaming window at 16:9/21:9 and another window to watch videos on independently. Just don’t want to fork over $40 for an experiment.

Update: I decided on the MSI 491CQPX. First impressions are great. Colors pop a little more than my WOLED. HDR looks a little better because of this. Ultimately chose the 49” for the better FOV in sim racing. My biggest concern was going down in PPI but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. It’s noticeable but definitely doesn’t make me want to return it. Having all the horizontal space for regular tasks has been great as well. Still have to fine tune it but it’s been a great experience after the first day. Hi All, I am trying to figure out which monitor would be best for me. I currently have an LG 32” 4K OLED(32GS95UE) which has been serving me really well. I want to get into the ultrawide since I’d like to ditch my vertical 27” on the right. My main use cases for the new monitor would be sim racing (iRacing, LMU, AC Evo), the occasional shooter and for regular content consumption like movies, shows and YouTube. I currently love the resolution of my 4k and feel like the drop down to 1440p (110 PPI) is going to be really noticeable. Currently I can get the 5K2K from LG for $1500 and they also gave me a 10% off code just for asking(it’s that easy). Total price of the monitor would come out to about $1,470. The MSI monitor would be about $980 from Amazon. Do y’all think the LG is worth the extra $500? I currently have a 5080 and 7900x so I’m not concerned about being able to drive the 5K2K resolution. Hopefully I can get around $600-700 back from selling my LG 4k on marketplace. Please let me know about your experiences with either monitor. Thanks.

Yeah, the gaming aspect of it I assume isn’t gonna be much of an issue with the ppi. It’s just everything else like videos and reading. I’ll probably notice it. Also, I would have to sacrifice the vertical real estate going down to the 49 ultra wide. Seems like I’m gonna have to weigh which one is more important to me.

Nope. Life chat. Said I was interested in the monitor but it was very expensive. Asked if there’s any coupon codes available and they replied with a code for 10% off

I went from an LG 32” 4k OLED to a 49” MSI OLED and have no complaints. Love having all the horizontal space and yes I notice the drop in PPI but only for videos tbh. Playing games I dont even notice. And the text quality has been fine. The day to day productivity stuff it would be nice to have the PPI but it really doesn’t bother be and I’ve gotten used to it.

Same here I use it for sim racing but used it multi-purpose for a month or two before I got the new LG 39 inch. I would say the text clarity definitely caused eye strain that's gone with the higher resolution of the the LG. You gotta have a deep desk for the 49 inch cuz you're gonna be turning your head a lot otherwise.

I got the msi 49 cqcpx for my sim rig and it’s awesome and I hear a lot less software and firmware issues with it unlike the Samsung

lol i got the 39 after using a 49 inch msi for some months and am now considering the 45 since I got so used to larger screen
