I took the plunge 5 years ago and got a 49inch ultrawide monitor, and honestly it’s great. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. I had tried a curvature of 800R and it was too much for me, so I went with a Samsung C49RG90 which has a lighter curve, and that’s perfect. That said, one thing becomes an issue over time: the lack of height. With a 32:9 screen you get a lot of horizontal space, but in my opinion not enough vertical space, and the ideal format would actually be 21:9. LG released what is almost the perfect monitor, the LG 45GX950, but the curvature is too pronounced for my taste. It’s tricky because some people will love a curve like that. Also it’s crazy expensive. In short, the first thing I would consider is the screen height.
Get it, give it a week to get used to it and you will never go back.
I got the 57" G9 yesterday, upgraded from a 49" CRG9. It's funny because once it got set up it really didn't feel that much bigger in terms of physical size - but the increased vertical and horizontal resolution are AMAZING for productivity. Before - I would only be able to have two spreadsheets side by side that were actually usable for my purpose. They would have to be side by side, Now I can have 3 - which doesn't sound that impressive but makes a massive difference because now I can have one centered and two on the sides. The curve on the 57 inch is just right IMO, it's not too curved but when you're sitting in front of it - it puts the entire screen in your periphery. I have a secondary 32" 4K QD-OLED monitor that's mostly for gaming. The colors on an OLED are so much better, that this monitor looks pretty bad to me from a gaming perspective (57 inch). If you really care about the gaming experience, you could look at the LG 5K2K as it's much better tuned for that than the 57 inch, which to me is primarily a productivity monitor.
I went from 2 22" displays to 1 49" Samsung CRG9. The 49" was great for work productivity but for gaming I found it to be too short (not tall enough). I sold the 49" and now have a centered 38" (3840x1600) "main" display and an off center 27" (2560x1440). For my uses, the 38" is excellent for both work productivity and gaming and I use the 27" on the side for comms (Email, Teams, Discord, etc.)
This is exactly what I do, just have the game in windowed mode, I have an older Samsung crg9 49"
Cool! Im mostly interested in the uwqhd one. Right now using a crg9 49 inch but 1440p. I'm wondering how much better pixel density feels and the hz :)
A steal. I have one and it’s fantastic (and was more expensive by a long shot, lol). You’ll never look back.
many of them.. what you will not find is an ultra wide with high refresh rate and a VA panel and HDR 1000.. The CRG9 is the only one besides the odyssey Neo g9 57 that has a great VA panel.
