I took the plunge 5 years ago and got a 49inch ultrawide monitor, and honestly itâs great. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. I had tried a curvature of 800R and it was too much for me, so I went with a Samsung C49RG90 which has a lighter curve, and thatâs perfect. That said, one thing becomes an issue over time: the lack of height. With a 32:9 screen you get a lot of horizontal space, but in my opinion not enough vertical space, and the ideal format would actually be 21:9. LG released what is almost the perfect monitor, the LG 45GX950, but the curvature is too pronounced for my taste. Itâs tricky because some people will love a curve like that. Also itâs crazy expensive. In short, the first thing I would consider is the screen height.
Get it, give it a week to get used to it and you will never go back.
I got the 57" G9 yesterday, upgraded from a 49" CRG9. It's funny because once it got set up it really didn't feel that much bigger in terms of physical size - but the increased vertical and horizontal resolution are AMAZING for productivity. Before - I would only be able to have two spreadsheets side by side that were actually usable for my purpose. They would have to be side by side, Now I can have 3 - which doesn't sound that impressive but makes a massive difference because now I can have one centered and two on the sides. The curve on the 57 inch is just right IMO, it's not too curved but when you're sitting in front of it - it puts the entire screen in your periphery. I have a secondary 32" 4K QD-OLED monitor that's mostly for gaming. The colors on an OLED are so much better, that this monitor looks pretty bad to me from a gaming perspective (57 inch). If you really care about the gaming experience, you could look at the LG 5K2K as it's much better tuned for that than the 57 inch, which to me is primarily a productivity monitor.
I live in spreadsheets and documents - I JUST upgraded to the 57 inch samsung (G95NC) from a 49 inch CRG9. The 49 inch ultrawide with 1000R curve was great, but the extra resolution on the 57 inch makes it so much better to work with large documents. The problem is that USB-C PD isn't available in a lot of the higher end non-gaming ultrawides - so you'd have to connect through a dock. The UlraGear 5K2K is a bit out of your budget - but that might be the best bet. It's new, has the features you want, and is generally well received. Otherwise, you could look at some of the 3rd and 4th gen QD-OLEDs that are 32 inches (MSI MPG321URX as an example). I have one of those as well, and it works great with USB-C PD and sources.
I went from 2 22" displays to 1 49" Samsung CRG9. The 49" was great for work productivity but for gaming I found it to be too short (not tall enough). I sold the 49" and now have a centered 38" (3840x1600) "main" display and an off center 27" (2560x1440). For my uses, the 38" is excellent for both work productivity and gaming and I use the 27" on the side for comms (Email, Teams, Discord, etc.)
This is exactly what I do, just have the game in windowed mode, I have an older Samsung crg9 49"
How is the 57" compared to the 49"? Is the 49" a G9? I've got a CRG9 and rly close to pulling the trigger on a 57" and would do a similar setup to this. I think 49" on top would be better, I can't imagine an even taller monitor on top. I've got a little 27" on top of my CRG9 and if my CRG9 was in a proper ergonomic spot itd be pretty damn high up to see the top of my 27".

Cool! Im mostly interested in the uwqhd one. Right now using a crg9 49 inch but 1440p. I'm wondering how much better pixel density feels and the hz :)
A steal. I have one and itâs fantastic (and was more expensive by a long shot, lol). Youâll never look back.
