FPS averages 120 at medium settings in iRacing. My FOV is 80-degrees, butI honestly wish I had more visibility to see the side view mirrors. I say go with 57” if you can.
I have two of them, it’s disappointing they don’t use DisplayPort over usbc but that’s my only complaint.
Ah I think you’re looking at a non oled one sorry, not sure if that’s the same but I assume it would be. I have two of the OLED ones in different offices. Some monitors you can plug in with a single USBC cable and charge your laptop as well as send video and audio for display. These G9’s as far as I’m aware don’t support that functionality so you’re stuck using an hdmi cable or getting a pricey thunderbolt dock to provide the one cable functionality. Also everything I’ve read says pay the extra 100 dollars or so and get the OLED version with a more relaxed curve
I have a 49" Samsung G95SC (Non-Oled) and I use it with my MacBook M2 for (amateur) Audio Production. It works flawlessly for me with no scaling issues. There's a 3rd party program I use(I believe it's called Rectangle) that has quick shortcuts to arrange windows in multiple ways. I actually run that monitor into a 4 way KVM switch so the Mac, my work PC and my Gaming PC can all use the monitor, M&K, and my audio interface and speakers. After a little bit of tweaking during the initial setup, everything has worked extremely well for me. Edit: I should add the MacBook connects to the KVM switch via a single USB C from the [Pluggable 7 in 1 Dock](http://Plugable 7-in-1 USB C Docking... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKLT853Z?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share). This has it's own power supply and charges the MacBook, as well as creating an HDMI and additional USB ports. Edit 2: here's the KVM switch for those interested 4 Port HDMI KVM Switch 4K@60Hz,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJQHVC3K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
i think 1800r is going to give you all the slight cons of both curved, and flat monitors. it implies a 1.8 meter viewing distance to be perfectly "within" the curve. so its going to vibe more like youre in a rounded off cube, than a curved array. that being said id also argue the same of 1000r, though. realistically you need 800r (80 centimeters from your eye) to be more in line with where \*most\* people find themselves sitting when sim racing. but 1000r is pretty close so its "worth" the trade off imho, if the panel is much better than the 800r options.
I have that same ultra wide. Seeing it sit at table hight hurts my sole. I can’t personally see a reason for more than just the 49”. I had 2 27” above mine with one vertical next to it. I found those above hurt to look at. The vertical wasn’t needed for me because I use windows power toys which offers fancy zones. With chrome vertical tabs and tab groups I’m in perfect shape to do everything I could ever want on 1 screen.
This only works on chrome. Instructions Go to chrome://flags in the url bar. When you get the actual web page you should see experiments that the top In the search bar for the web page search bar look up vertical You will have 1 option. Change it from default to enabled At the bottom of the screen you should have a blue button called relaunch. Press it. Wait for the tabs to come up. Right click on the top bar (not on a tab). In the drop down click show tabs vertically. You will now have the tabs on the left side. It is a fly out menu that can be made any size and be only icons.
If you’re going curved 49", I’d say go for the [Samsung 49" Odyssey OLED G9 (G95C)](https://samsung-odyssey.com/OLED-G9-G95C), dual-QHD ultrawide, 240Hz, OLED panel with crazy contrast. It’s actually on sale on Amazon right now too.
Nice pick with the Odyssey G9, that 49″ curve is insane for gaming and multitasking, basically like having two 27″ monitors side by side. For a second monitor, something like the Samsung G5 32″ works well for Discord, guides, or media while you game. I’d go with the G9 centered and the G5 angled to the side in portrait or landscape, and grab a sturdy arm for the G9 plus a lighter one for the G5 to save desk space. With your 63″ desk, that setup should fit nicely.
