If you do go down the OLED route, go for the Samsung G93SC instead of the G95SC. [It's several $100 cheaper and the only difference is that it doesn't have the Samsung Smart TV features](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcmonitor/comments/1h05rux/heres_my_research_on_the_samsung_49_odyssey_oled/), which are pretty useless if you're using this truly has a monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • trying to decide on 49" monitor for productivity, light gaming, movie watching ->Any of you two thinking the blurring effect of the anti glare coating can be a deal breaker ? Or is that overblown? People tried to pull me away from the OLED g9 because of OLED text fringing, but my g93sc does not display any worse than any other monitor ...
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best ultrawide in your opinion? ->G9 57 inch or the dell 5k2k IPS black panel, or that new lg 45 inch 5k2k. All options around the 2k mark. Half the price, consider a $1k g9 49 inch but as others said, the va version. Or do as I did, g9 oled G93SC and a 4 year warranty that covers burn in (I got the Allstate plan sold by staples). That 240 Hz can do picture by picture at 120 Hz (without vrr or HDR while in pbp mode) that essentially gives you 2x 27 inch 1440p monitors without the bezel. 1.5 months in, doing 8 hours a day of excel and outlook and a web browser and I love it. I use power toys fancy zones to split my 2 monitors in 3 zones so I have the best of both worlds (I often have to share my screen for presentations and sharing the full 5120x1440 to other people (most of them on 1080p monitors) is too impractical but everyone can see a 1440p monitor just fine. Sharing just one app is also possible... Or a zone... But 2 cables from the laptop to the monitor solved this problem for my work usage, and I use only 1 cable for the gaming PC. I know you don't play, but trying Forza 5, GTA V, FS 2024 is a literal game changer! Even just google earth on that monitor is something else! Hope you find your monitor soon!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide for Productivity ->As a new owner of a 32:9 g9 oled, 80% work in pbp mode ans 20% gaming ... I have to ask if you worked on both 32:9 and 21:9? When I got my first 1440p 16:9 it felt great compared to 1080p. Then this g9 essentially is 2x 27 inch 1440p monitors glued together which is great but can't deny the weird vertical lack of height feeling and for gaming I guess 21:9 is the perfect zone... But what about work? 5k2k looks like I could work well with 3 windows side by side like I do on my g9 but ... Is it? Typical work for me is teams open on my laptop display, outlook, pdf or email being written, web browser. I can't get my brain to think it will be as comfortable working 3 windows wide with 21:9 instead of 32:9? Thanks for your input.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Super Ultrawide user considering Super Ultrawide vs Ultrawide (G9 OLED vs LG UltraGear 5K2K) ->I have the G93SD. Just got it 2 weeks ago. My only regret is that I never got this sooner. Amazing monitor and my first OLED!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Really considering this monitor - have a 5080 ->I have the 240hz version (G95SC) and run an i9 14900k with a 4090, typical example game like Warzone, I'm hitting 150 fps maximum (ultra settings). The G93SC is the same thing but without the Smart TV functions. The model you're looking at there is (i think) the CHG90: - 144HZ - WQHD - UK RRP £420 give or take
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Samsung G9 49” OLED 144Hz ->Before I express my opinion, some context. Up until this past week, I have never used a monitor larger than 24inch, greater than1080p, or a higher than 60hz other than sitting down at a coworker's desk for a couple of minutes who had something better. I have never felt like I needed one, but I decided to try one out because I've been getting into video editing, and I wanted a lot of screen real estate. I also wanted to record with a higher fps and resolution for videos. So, I bought that INNOCN monitor the same day you actually posted, and I liked it a lot. However, my biggest issue was that in PBP mode, the refresh rate maxed at 60hz. This was very important to me because I need to use PBP mode often and if I'm buying a monitor partially for the higher refresh rate, then I want to use it at a higher refresh rate. Other more minor things: While in PBP, if you have it set up where the two screens are from the same computer, there is a slight screen tearing. It's not bad and it only seems to happen when things are moving vertically. The speakers are some of the worst I've ever heard. They had the same quality as office monitors we just got for $350 that do their job and that's about it. At the same time, I don't think anyone would be buying a monitor like this and not already have speakers but if you are, you will probably want to buy speakers. The user interface is on par with every other monitor I've ever had. It felt clunky and unresponsive. If I want to switch the settings for PBP (which I was often doing), it just felt kinda bad. The stand is huge. It could not fit on my desk, and this was an oversight on my part before buying it. I had to temporarily support it with a block of wood, a book, and keyboard riser haha. Overall, I feel like it could be worth the $800 but for me, it was not because of the refresh rate thing. I don't think it's worth any more money but it's hard for me to tell the worth since I'm inexperienced with monitors. So I bought the Samsung Odyssey G9 which is also on sale for $1100 currently and it just came in today. Everything about the monitor is an improvement so far except for the ports in the back. You get 1 display port, 1 hdmi, 1 mico hdmi (didn't realize that was still a thing), and 3 usb-c. I wished it had 1 more hdmi but I could probably still use the usb-c. The micro hdmi doesn't seem to have higher than 60hz. Of course, I'm not sure about other 49inch monitors but the difference between these two I believe was worth the extra $300 I paid. The colors seem deeper (you also get way more options in the UI for it), the stand can actually fit on my desk, the overall quality seems much much better, there is no screen tearing in PBP, the refresh rate is 120hz in PBP (default is 240hz outside of it), there's also another mode for PBP instead of just half and half, and the UI is actually responsive. The speakers still suck but they are better and again I don't care about that. (There was no bass like at all but the mids are better). TLDR: The INNOCN monitor is great overall but has some notable quality issues in a few areas that the Samsung Odyssey G9 improves on. Personally, for my needs, the extra $300 I paid for the Samsung one seems to be worth for me so far.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Has anyone ever herd of this brand before? Anyone actually own this monitor? Seems like a great deal for a 32:9 OLED. ->I have the G93SC, it's an amazing monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Samsung G9 49” OLED 144Hz ->The alienware aw3425dw was released last month. It has an 240 hz refresh rate instead of 175 and goes for 799 dollar The Gigabyte MO34WOCQ2 and the MSI 341CQPX have the same panel as the alienware i mentioned. If i were you i would get the cheapest one of those three. And if you want 49 inches then the samsung g93sc(glossy) or the philips 49M2C8900(semi-gloss). These two also have the same panel and are both 1440p,240hz. Samsung also has a smart version (95 instead of 93) or oled (sd) instead of sc, but i would get non smart, qd oled.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best ultrawide? ->Get the OLED, I'm also a software engineer on 100% remote. My C1 had zero burn-in after 3 years of daily work (8h) + private usage. My current G93SC is also doing fine. Just don't bump up the brightness while working, 15-20% (120ish nits) is more than enough at daylight.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Really considering this monitor - have a 5080 ->I have received mine 2 days ago (G93SC, without smart functions) and have gsync activated in the nvidia control panel. Posted a tip for activating it
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Recommendation Ultrawide Monitor G-Sync ->i got me g93sc for that price on black friday . saved myself $600 on an incredible monitor
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This is the cheapest 49'' OLED monitor ever. Any downsides or caveats? ->You've read too much about OLED online from people that have no clue, I can tell you from experience, 4 OLED TVs on 24/7 and my G9 Neo G93SC thats been on static images 8-12 hours a day, for almost a year and a half and not a single one has burn in. It just doesn't happen like everyone is afraid of. Get the G93SC, you won't be disappointed.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Really considering this monitor - have a 5080 ->It's a WOLED vs QD-OLED thing. I had a similar experience very very recently (week ago), granted -- not with the 5K2K, but with an Asus WOLED panel (XG27AQDMGZ) that wasn't even matte -- it was considered glossy, though kind of in-between (not as glossy as G9). I am currently running: \- G9 OLED (4090) \- G9 NEO (5090) Your review was helpful, and unfortunately -- what I feared you would say. I felt the colors on the ASUS were unfortunately, quite bad compared to my G9 OLED, even after tweaking. In fact, I didn't think they were really *that much* better than my G9 NEO. Blacks were obviously far better, but colors were... not. So yeah, that's a bummer. Guess I'll also be waiting for a similar format QD-OLED. Though, I am hopeful we'll see a 39" version. I still think the 49" G9 OLED is too wide. I really was hoping the colors on the 5k2K WOLED were going to be equal. Oh well. Also, the latest firmware killed 240hz for me, as well on my G9 OLED. So I'm stuck at 120 I guess... tried different cables, HDMI/DP both... etc. No go. Goes to black screen after about \~10 seconds to 5 minutes of gameplay. Sadly, pretty commonly documented issue with this monitor. I can't reverse the firmware.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->\- LG Reliability > Samsung Reliability (my G9 Neo has flickering issues, My OLED version won't go above 120 hz anymore) \- Even more power required to drive games on the 57" vs LG. \- 21:9 > 32:9 IMO (and very subjective, but a reason nonetheless for many).
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I actually really like my G9 NEO’s 1000R curve for productivity, but I don’t do anything with image editing— just backend dev and lots of spreadsheets/docs. I don’t like the G9 OLED 1800R curve as much, even for productivity. Surprisingly— asus’ glossy woled wasn’t any better, so I’m not 100% sure it’s just a coating issue. I think it’s more of an issue with it being white backlit and brightness levels. I’m sure coating is related, but glossy doesn’t completely solve the issue.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->My main reasons to move from the G9 were the still underwhelming support of true 32:9 ratio in most games and the width. I moved to a LG C4 42” and besides the obvious OLED, having 4K in 16:9 is just in a less wider screen was fantastic. The G9 simply takes too much desk space for me and the resolution wasn’t that great. In almost every game that I’ve played, it only supported 16:9 or often also 21:9, but rarely ever a 32:9. I had to help myself with mods, If I was lucky that there were even mods. I think most of the stuff that bothered me about the G9 gets remediated with the LG 45, so I’d choose that one over the G9. However the cost difference is not worth to switch from the 42” to the new one. Especially since my GPU couldn’t fully utilize it. So LG C4 is the best out of both worlds in my opinion.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->Honestly, expedition 33 re-sold me on my g9 oled. Game looks great in 32:9
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->49” OLED G9. I use my MacBook by day, and PC at night for gaming. No text issues, amazing performance and Colors. Highly recommend
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The best ultrawide for home office (80%) and gaming (20%), budget: open. ->Yea it’s crazy goods
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The best ultrawide for home office (80%) and gaming (20%), budget: open. ->I’m use to 32:9 OLED G9, and its fantastic. However, it does take up a lot of desk space. I definitely would appreciate a bendable OLED monitor so I can adjust between productivity by day/gaming at night. I think this might be the perfect balance, including more vertical real estate. 🙂
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I’ve been switching between a 32:9 G9 OLED and a 42” LG C2. Neither is the sweet spot. The G9 isn’t tall enough and the C2 isn’t curved. I think the 800R 5k2k might be perfect for me.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->*"3840x1600 is massively underrated"* No it's not, you constantly see people asking for it. I owned the LG38GN950-B and switched to Samsung OLED G8 when the LG monitor got a green line JUST after the warranty was out. Yeah i had to alter my Powertoys FancyZones and it took me a week to get used to less desktop space, but now i don't notice, it's fine. But if i had the option in the future, i would consider if i had the GPU budget to support it! I was PISSED at LG, but the Samsung True Black HDR 400 OLED was such a great experience, i forgot i was mad...
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 3840x1600 is massively underrated. scored an LG 38uc99-w for 200 bucks as a sim rig screen, and now it makes me want to upgrade my beloved hp x34.... short user review in the comments in a few minutes. ->lol, just running it on my pc, connected to a 4090 graphic card and a Samsung g9 monitor
r/WWEGames • WWE on a ultrawide monitor ->Never seen that. I own a store with 100s of gaming monitors, LG, Samsung, Alienware, BenQ, even some Sony inzone monitors but never that lol. I got the g9 49 oled 240hz 0.03ms I sell those for $850 I had the neo g9 49 with a 0.01 Ms response time but currently out of stock on those.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Samsung G9 49” OLED 144Hz ->I'm using a G9 OLED, I often prefer my 2 or 3 monitor setup for work over the super ultrawide. Even though that G9 OLED screen is of godlike quality.
r/IndianGaming • Ultrawide monitor for Working majorly coding ->So far a year in, no burn in.
r/IndianGaming • Ultrawide monitor for Working majorly coding ->I'm on G9 OLED. There is currently G9 in the market and then everything else in super ultrawide category. I saw one Gigabyte one on this sub but haven't heard much about it. Plenty ultrawide options though.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best ultrawide in your opinion? ->Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED. I get it for christmas and damn, it is another level
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Ultrawide for work: nothing new from CES 2025? ->I bought a G9 240hz oled expecting to want to upgrade to triples eventually haven't even thought about it, sure I could have a little more FOV but when I'm racing I've never felt I needed more FOV. But my screen is also 17 inches from my face, so its super close lol eventually I will go 32 inch triples because why not have the peak experience (I already own VR) but its been like 4 years with this super ultra wide monitor and I just don't have the urge to upgrade, the annoyance of setting up the 8020 triple monitor stands and getting it all lined up isn't even worth it right now for me. That shit is annoying lol
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->https://preview.redd.it/jw2g3pd7tb7f1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a057185cf6f0845b616946dcaeac9191416e081d Just swapped to a Samsung 57" Odyssey Neo G9 Series Dual 4K UHD 1000R Curved 240 hz 1ms From a Samsung 49” Odyssey OLED 1440p 240hz 1ms Both are excellent, and I only upgraded to run 4k
r/pcmasterrace • Best Gaming Monitor to Buy Right Now? ->https://preview.redd.it/dimuobn6ub7f1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe6fdd12919a7af58ad0ec1400e9b1023518ee00 49 inch Odyssey
r/pcmasterrace • Best Gaming Monitor to Buy Right Now? ->The Samsung odyssey oled g9 is the best ultra wide for sim racing imo… me, my dad, and my brother all have one and it’s amazing, 240hz glossy oled and the remote it comes with is nice to have too. I was running a 3090 gpu but just upgraded to a 5090 and have yet to test it yet
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->The Philips is only like 75 hz and the gigabyte is 144, The Samsung is 240hz…
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->Also G9 Oled. I also have a Quest 3 but I don‘t use it very often.
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->I have the Samsung Odyssey G9 (non-OLED version). I tried the OLED version and the t XT issue was too much for me as I do a lot with text in my job. LOVE the monitor. I did check out an OLED Ultra gear at the same time and it was fantastic, just too small for me, was 43" maybe. Text looked really good on it too. I would need two of them and the price was too high for that, otherwise I'd have two of them! :)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best non-OLED ultrawide ->What display cable are you using? Displayport or HDMI? I haven't been able to get native res working on my G9 oled yet. I'm guessing it's because my usb-c "dock" im using is capping bandwidth
r/macmini • How Mac Mini M4 works with ultra wide 49" screens (5120x1440)? ->Oled G9 was 1k when I bought mine, but not today.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buying an ultra wide monitor with a $1000 budget. What would you buy? ->i got the 49“ G9 Odyssey OLED. Its an absolute blast and will never change back. iRacing looks in HDR like a new game. Its only 1800R but in my opinion its enough.
r/simracing • What super ultra wide monitor is best for sim racing? ->Lol well I only bought the G9 2 weeks ago because it was on sale, then the 5k2k went on a better sale this week and so since I still have 2 weeks to return the G9 I decided to give them a few days or so to duke it out. One of them is going back for sure.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I've had a g9 OLED since August for daily work and gaming. I haven't had any issues but I do have the brightness lowered and all the protection settings on. I've had zero issues.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->I will say it's all personal preference. Definitely check out a qd-oled at a store if you can and see if the text is good for you, individual eyesight and all that. My room is also pretty light controlled so glare isn't an issue.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->Samsung oddysey g9 OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->I have the best Buy warranty on it. And the precautions are keeping the factory protections on and keeping the brightness a bit lower.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->G9 oled paired with TET
r/starcitizen • Ultrawide screen for SC, any recommendations? ->if the 57” was oled id give up my g9
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best ultrawide in your opinion? ->Yep and it's also twice the price of a G9, if I remember correctly. You'll mostly appreciate it if you play with HDR on, but then again not so many simracing games support it, I think. But if you play other video games as well, it may be worth it.
r/simracing • What super ultra wide monitor is best for sim racing? ->The answer is the odyssey G9 OLED 49". Ittl always be the answer. No other monitor is as good as this one imo. From display quality to pixel density to viewing angle to the stunning 32:9 aspect ratio and the colors and refresh rate, there is NO other monitor I would want to use for anything else. Maybe a 16:9 OLED, which I also have, for movie watching. It's the only thing that isn't better on the G9. Games, multitasking, productivity, the G9.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 49 inch monitor for gaming and productivity? ->Just got the odyssey g9 OLED for work and hobbyist editing. Looks terrific but I am now a little worried about burnout from having it on all day
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 49 inch UW is best for business, emphasis is on text clarity. ->Love my 49” OLED odyssey but was so nervous to break it it almost defeated the entire purpose. Went back to Best Buy and purchased the 4 year warranty. $170 well spent imo. Complete peace of mind and it covers burn in as well
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Really considering this monitor - have a 5080 ->G9 oled here too. Been using a 4070ti GPU. No problems cranking settings to ultra and staying well over 120 fps.
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->I’m using the OLED G9 model and Mac mini m4 with Better Display and a mini HDMI connection to achieve 5120x1440 resolution at 240Hz, albeit in a low DPI setting. The monitor’s game mode settings need to be adjusted to HDR10+ Gaming (either Basic or Advanced) for optimal use.
r/macmini • How Mac Mini M4 works with ultra wide 49" screens (5120x1440)? ->I went with the 49" Samsung odyssey oled G9 just over a year ago. I work from home full time and have used it for 8-10 hours / day doing normal work, and in the winter I also do 2-5 hours of gaming on it per day. I have zero burn in, zero issues. I love it. I've seen some complain that the text isn't as sharp as they'd like due to the pixel layout, but I haven't personally noticed that. Would 4k be sharper? sure. I say go OLED. It's gorgeous.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Suggestions on ultrawide monitor 49 in? OLED or (N)OLED? ->I think 45" is very close to, if not the sweet spot. I have the 49" g9 OLED, which I very much enjoy, but i think the extra vertical screen space would be nice to have.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Yeah. I use my G9 for work/productivity. 32:9 is sadly poorly supported in games. Many games support ultrawide (21:9), but when you're going superultrawide the sides are just getting stretched and you can encounter bugs here and there in certain games. I actually prefer 16:10 but I guess thats so year 2000.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->Oled g9 frequently goes on sale for 1k. Owned for a year and it’s flawless.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buying an ultra wide monitor with a $1000 budget. What would you buy? ->I'm on G9 OLED. 5K2K LG doesnt have better colours so its a pass. Waiting better version of QD-OLED or something that is better than G9.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best ultrawide in your opinion? ->Thanks OP for doing comparison. I own G9 OLED also and i did feel that immersion in gaming Samsung got it better. The aggressive curve on LG and 4K just doesnt cut it. Games that support full UW i have huge immersion.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->Exactly same feeling here. If we buy OLED panel monitors there cant be compromise in colour accuracy or vibrant tone. Sadly LG using matte coat and with WOLED its not as good as Samsung QD-OLED. I'm been using a lot HDR Mode also in games even if they dont support naturally, its still so much better than without it except few games where its messed up like D4. This is where G9 shines. Another problem is aggressive curve. Not good for productivity.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I have the Samsung 49" G9 OLED. It has been amazing. Splitting the monitor in 3 let me do a lot at once, like watching a game while doing accounting, while I have Facebook, local newspaper or the stock exchange open at far left. I really don't see the difficulties regarding small text. I have just finished my master thesis in economics, which means a lot reading different sources, writing a lot of pages and implement quite a few formulas. Never have I had any issues reading the text, nor writing it. Integrated speakers, 240hz, remote control, OLED... what's not to like? The only drawback is that it only support 1440p, thus I've just ordered the 57".
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultra Wide - Productivity ->agree on almost everything single bit - except you didnt mention the fact G9 OLED handles text clarity way better. I am not returning the monitor though, because G9 OLED is just too slim.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->For many years I just loved my G9 VA-Panel. Even compared to my new OLED G9, the picture still holds up in clarity and colors.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best non OLED ultrawide monitor? ->I agree, I just got my 49" OLED and it has been amazing but I have also been looking at the LG as my next upgrade already. This tells me that I can wait and be happy with what I have. I don't have the budget or GPU for the 5k2k anyway.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I got the Samsung OLED g9 for 1099, and I'm loving it. Would recommend.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buying an ultra wide monitor with a $1000 budget. What would you buy? ->I picked up my Samsung OLED 49" for $600 off Facebook Marketplace. Dude that bought big lots of things.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buying an ultra wide monitor with a $1000 budget. What would you buy? ->My G9 was my first and last Samsung product as well.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 5k2k 45GX950A-B 48hr review ->45" might be the sweetspot. I'm coming from a 49" Samsung G9 OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I have the G9 OLED and am thinking of going to the LG myself. I love the picture on the G9 but I've noticed in the games I've played, i tend to focus on the center of the monitor than the edges. In my case, the increased height and decreased width would be a benefit. Plus, the LG has DisplayPort 2.1 which allows it to be pushed more if you have a decent 50 series Nvidia card.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->The one I upgraded from was an LG 34UM88C I'm now on a Samsung Odyssey G9 which was a big upgrade for me. More than doubled my refresh rate, OLED, 32:9, HDR. Although the 34UM88C is no longer available new I'm sure there are suitable 1440p 34 inch IPS displays that are more feature rich now. In fact I can see LG's 34WQ75C is an IPS 1440p 100Hz, HDR10. I'd also recommend using [pcpartpicker](https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=344001440&P=2&sort=price&page=1) to look at monitors that meet your specs.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Asking about pixel density on a 34 inch 1440p ultrawide. ->I have both the Samsung g9 49 inch OLED and the Samsung neo 57inch ultra wide with the more aggressive curve. I prefer the larger more aggressive curve of the neo for sure!!! The color is amazing on the Oled but I love the curve. I put my OLED at my gf's on a desk with a wheel stand for my sim set up there. It works really well for that set up because I'm able to sit further away from the monitor. So it helps with not having to turn the head as much. While the Samsung neo despite it being 57 inches can be set very very close to me because of that more aggressive curve . That card is going to power most games at 5k( a little less pixels than proper 4k) res at pretty high settings and frame rate. Now the neo i have running at 7k (two 4k screens) would need to be using heavy DLSS or FSR to hit that res at very high settings. Sometimes it's better to turn down my 4080 super and run at 5k and get super high frames instead.
r/simracing • Ultrawide vs Super ultrawide ->It's a 5120x1440p Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED monitor with HDR on. These pictures doesn't do the game justice :3 I got a 5800X3D, and a 7900 XTX which I upgraded from a 3070, so I could play this game at UW and Max settings. The game runs at like 60-90fps, but sit on 70\~75 most of the time with Native resolution, I only use FSR Native AA, no upscaling otherwise. It's at a stable 120+ fps with FSR frame gen, which actually looks decent! I'm very happy with it, it's a very good and versatile monitor for both gaming and productivity. c: But there's some annoyances with an UW this large though, like if you wanna play with a smaller resolution, like 2560x1440p(16:9) for more fps, and use the other half as a second monitor, you'll need to play in windowed mode or else you get black bars on the sides. But I use 'Windowed Borderless Gaming' to remove the window borders and lock the games to one side of the screen. and set the game to a custom resolution (I usually played with 2560x1440(16:9) or 3440x1440(21:9) before I got this GPU). Also some older games that doesn't support windowed mode and this resolution may end up getting stretched out and look awful, or play in Fullscreen with borders on the sides with no options to use the other half. But a cool thing you can do with this monitor is Picture in Picture(PIP) mode, where you can either connect two cables to the same PC and use it as two monitors, or you can connect a second PC or console and use them both on the same monitor; either as a small window in the corner or the other half of the screen. I haven't tried it yet but, you don't lose all the benefits of having two monitors vs one UW :D Bit long answer, but I hope it can help you in your decision! I'm at least very happy with this monitor, I've had it for 6 months now. c:
r/HorizonForbiddenWest • This game is something else in 32:9 Ultrawide! And it runs really well ->Looks alot Like my 49" Samsung Odyssee G9 Oled. Can recommend that one alot. Beast of a Monitor.
r/WWEGames • WWE on a ultrawide monitor ->I have both with me right now. Going to return the LG
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I LOVE my G9 OLED, however my first cable WAS defective.... had to swap it for a different one, but it's been amazing since... been a year ish? since I had it no burn in yet. I turned the auto off feature on so I can let it fall asleep at night. Also do the pixel shift anytime it comes up. For me it's amazing!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 📊 POLL: What’s the Best Ultrawide/49” Monitor for Work & Play? Help Me Decide! ->I recently switched from Alienware AW3423DWF to Samsung G9 49" OLED. The only thing that was not great was test caritas on Alienware, it was perfect for gaming. G9 appears to handle test better and it is absolutely fine for me for 6h of daily productivity use. On the other hand 5K2K screen is less adjusted for gaming so your results my dependant on the games yoh are playing - for example Forza Horizon looks amazing, but Tekken 8 is werset with black bars only. I'm happy alienware stayed with me and is now connected to my son's gaming pc 😀
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) ->The Samsung Oled G9 is one huge 40% discount right now 49" of the best oled I've ever experienced
r/ultrawidemasterrace • "Best" Ultrawide for me ->49" G9 OLED!! If not, than at least get an OLED of whatever you're looking at. Once you go OLED , you'll never go back. I can now see ALL the stars in the galaxy and still see my skip lit lol. Caves are great. Landing in planet at night even better
r/starcitizen • Ultrawide screen for SC, any recommendations? ->Hi could you expand on this please? I have the m4 Mac mini and the OLED G9 49”, I cannot for the life of me get 5120x1440 resolution. r/macmini • How Mac Mini M4 works with ultra wide 49" screens (5120x1440)? ->I thought there were another g9 oled when I read the original post since I also have both plus g9 original 800r. I wish g9 oled was 800r. I love the oled but like this tight wraparound fr immersion. 1000r is better for productivity but I am using 800r for work, 1000r oled for gaming fixed with my simrig and lg 5k2k for general gaming and working (another room)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I had a 34inch flat 21:9 ultrawide. Went to a 49inch Samsung oled odyssey with 1800R. Was a huge upgrade in terms of fov (75 to 115), but didn’t really wow me as much as I expected. I then went from the 49 to the 57inch 1000R monitor and the difference is huge. I get 152 fov, the curve is great and at 410mm away it completely fills my peripheral vision. I don’t miss the oled at all with the 57inch in game, the blacks are very black, although outside of gaming there is a lot of noticeable haloing around bright spots. If I had to have a 49inch I would definitely pick a 1000R after having the 1800R. It’s a big difference in immersion and a big fov boost
r/simracing • Ultrawide vs Super ultrawide ->You could also get the g9 OLED for pretty cheap I got mine for 850$, if you wait for it to go on sale
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Deciding on a 34 inch ultrawide monitor ->Yeah I'd kill for a dual 4k 57in qd-oled but that's not gonna be coming for many years. Until then I'm sticking to my g9 OLED
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Samsung G9 49” OLED 144Hz ->I have the samsung odyssey g9 oled 49". I use it for a mix of work, gaming, and trading. What i like about it is the multi view functionality where it splits from 49 to 2 1440p monitors in one. Their are some nuances about a screen that size. Using a tool like power toys by Microsoft is a must because you can create zones otherwise you do manually. I have other experiences but figurd this was about what your looking for. Also note: a plus but does feel like a con is that it has a screen optimization thing that happens after a while of the monitor being on. It runs for 10 minutes and comes back. Some folks have had issues with burn in as many monitors have dealt with, the first one I got i had to return due to having a dead pixel line down one side. I returned to my local microcenter and came back home same day and have 0 issues since. Switching inputs can be a pain until you get used to it also the version monitor I have is what samsung considers a smart monitor with streaming and such built in. Knowing what I know now I would have went with the non-smart version 1 because it's cheaper and 2 if I am streaming anything I'm doing it on the computer or TV not specifically the monitor. Other than that I love this monitor
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Recommendations for a Ultrawide Monitor ->This^ So far I have had great success with my odyssey which is the g9 oled. My monitor had this screen optimization thing that keeps the pixels refreshed. I use my monitor for a mix of stuff. I'm a tech consultant who has a ton of virtual meetings, reading statement of works, as well as pc/ps5 gaming. I like the g9 oled because I can split screen the ps5 and pc while working
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Recommendations for a Ultrawide Monitor ->As an owner of three G9 Odyssey, I’m going to say that this 5K2K monitor might really be the sweet spot since I’m certain more games support this aspect ratio.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Hi all, After watching and reading countless reviews on LG’s new 45" 5K2K (5120x2160) UltraGear WOLED monitor, I finally caved and bought one to see how it compares to my current setup. Spoiler: I’ll be returning it — and I’ll explain why below. **Context:** I’m not in desperate need of a new monitor. I currently daily drive both the Samsung G9 OLED and the G9 Neo Mini-LED. I’ve also owned the original G9. But as a tech enthusiast, I couldn’t resist trying out a 21:9 5K2K WOLED panel — a spec combination I haven’t experienced before. This review is written from the perspective of someone who already owns the Samsung G9 OLED (or similar ultra-wides), and wants to know if the LG 5K2K offers anything better. If you’re in that boat, this is for you. If you still have questions afterward, feel free to ask in the comments. **TL;DR:** Tried the LG 5K2K WOLED monitor (45", 5120x2160) to compare with my Samsung G9 OLED. Returning the LG. * **Productivity:** LG wins. Its taller 21:9 screen fits more usable windows without neck strain. Great for multitasking. * **Gaming Immersion:** Slight edge to LG due to its taller screen feeling more "portal-like," but the G9’s ultra-wide curve still holds strong. * **Color/Vibrancy:** G9 OLED wins. Its QD-OLED + glossy panel has noticeably more pop, especially in games — particles, effects, and colors feel more alive. * **Ergonomics:** LG is better in bright rooms (matte), but G9 feels more immersive in dim settings. **Verdict:** LG 5K2K is great, but G9 OLED is still king for immersive gaming and vibrant visuals. Returning the LG. \------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ # 1. Productivity – LG 5K2K Wins (Surprisingly) This was the biggest shock. The LG absolutely crushed the G9 OLED when it came to productivity. * The 21:9 aspect ratio paired with the 45” diagonal and higher vertical resolution (2160p) gives you a lot more usable vertical space than the 32:9 G9 OLED. * I could comfortably run **six windows** in a 3x2 layout (3 top, 3 bottom), and each one was perfectly legible, even with my less-than-perfect eyesight. * On the G9 OLED, I usually top out at 3 or maybe 4 windows horizontally. Trying to stretch to the sides just strains my neck — that ultra-wide width becomes a disadvantage over long work sessions. * TL;DR: If productivity is your focus, **LG wins hands down**. * One note though, I prefer reading text on my G9 OLED more than the LG5K2K. I don't know what it is, maybe due to how WOLED arranges its subpixels but the font feels a little more blurry to me despite the higher PPI and resolution. # 2. Gaming Immersion – Slight Edge to LG (But It's Subjective) Here’s where things get more nuanced. * The LG 5K2K feels like you're looking through a **portal** because of the taller screen. It fills more of your vertical field of view, which makes the experience more enveloping — particularly for first-person games. * The G9 OLED, being wider but shorter, wraps around your peripheral vision more. That sounds great — and often is — but also means you **see more of your actual environment** around and behind the monitor, which can slightly break immersion. * **HUD placement** was a noticeable issue: * On the G9 OLED, HUD elements can be *too far apart* — pushed to the far corners of the screen — making it harder to glance at key info without turning your head. * On the LG 5K2K, the HUD is tighter, but I found myself moving my **eyes up and down more often**, which became fatiguing over time. I tried adjusting distance and posture, but it remained a minor annoyance. I'd still prefer this over the G9 though tbf. * Weirdly, I felt like I could process what’s happening in a game faster on the G9 OLED. Maybe I’m more used to its layout? # 3. Display Quality / Color Reproduction – G9 OLED Has the Edge This was the **deal-breaker** for me. * **G9 OLED (QD-OLED, Glossy)** delivers richer, more vibrant colors, especially for games. Skill animations, particle effects, and subtle lighting cues just “pop” more. * **LG 5K2K (WOLED, Matte)** is no slouch — it’s still a gorgeous panel and miles better than any non-OLED monitor. I'd even use it over my G9 Mini-LED But: * Reds are slightly muted. * Color transitions feel a bit flatter. * Particles and subtle effects lack the sparkle and depth I’ve grown to expect from the G9. * It’s hard to capture in photos or video, but side-by-side, the difference is noticeable. * I spent **two full days tweaking** settings on the LG — brightness, contrast, HDR modes, color balance — trying to get it to feel like the G9. I got close, but never quite there. Is this a WOLED vs QD-OLED thing? Matte vs Glossy? Both? Possibly. But **if you’re picky about vibrancy and clarity**, the G9 OLED still reigns supreme. # 4. Form Factor & Ergonomics Some quick notes: * **LG 5K2K’s 45" screen** size didn’t feel too small coming from a 49", but I definitely noticed the difference in width. For split-screen multitasking, it’s *fine*. For ultra-wide games, it feels a bit tighter. * The **curve** on the LG is gentler than the G9 OLED. Some people prefer this — personally, I liked the G9’s more aggressive wraparound for gaming. * **Matte vs Glossy**: The LG’s matte coating reduces reflections, which is great for bright rooms. But the G9’s glossy finish enhances perceived contrast and vibrancy, and I personally find it more visually appealing in a dim room. # 5. Performance & FPS Tradeoffs – LG5K2K Demands More for Less Visual Payoff One critical point I haven’t seen covered much in other reviews is **how demanding the LG 5K2K is on your system**, and how that plays into overall experience — especially for gamers. * The **5120x2160 resolution** is no joke. It’s significantly more pixels than the G9 OLED’s 5120x1440 (about **33% more**), which translates into a **noticeable FPS drop** across most modern titles. * In my case, using a **7900XTX**, I consistently saw at least **20% lower frame rates** at native resolution on the LG5K2K compared to the G9 OLED. FSR helps with this greatly but I honestly don't like turning it on or using framegen if at all possible. * For slower-paced or cinematic games, this might not matter much. But in fast-paced shooters or action-heavy games, the performance hit makes a real difference — especially if you value high refresh rates and smooth gameplay. What made this worse is that **the visual payoff didn’t justify the cost**. While the LG5K2K has great image quality, I kept thinking: *"I’m losing what 25–30 FPS just to get slightly less vibrant color?"* That tradeoff didn’t make sense to me — especially when the G9 OLED already looks stunning and runs better. The higher resolution on paper is nice but honestly I didn't notice it too much unless I'm looking at a static picture. I'd totally watch movies on the LG5K2K over the G9 OLED though due to the resolution and taller size. If you don’t have a top-tier GPU or are sensitive to drops in smoothness, the LG’s higher resolution might end up feeling more like a burden than a benefit. # 6. Final Verdict The LG 5K2K is a fantastic monitor. If I didn’t already own the G9 OLED, I might’ve kept it. But for my use case — primarily gaming and productivity — it just doesn’t offer enough to warrant replacing what I already have. * **If you value productivity and prefer taller screens** with less neck strain, the LG might be a better fit for your setup. * **If you want top-tier vibrancy, and color punch,** the G9 OLED still wins. Ultimately, I’ll be returning the LG. It’s a great panel, but not a **better** panel — at least not for me. I really wanted this to be my endgame monitor for the next couple years and one question I had to ask myself was how would I feel if Samsung or someone came out with a 5K2K 45" 21:9 monitor with the same color and vibrancy the G9 QD-OLED offers? I'd no longer want the LG5K2K, I'd want that one! Thanks for reading, and let me know if you have any specific questions I didn’t cover and I'll do my best to answer.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I'm hoping for maybe next year /2026 for an OLED version of their 57" Odyssey. Now that we're seeing 5k2k 21:9 kick off, it's only a matter of time for 32:9 7k2k 7680x2160 OLEDs to be the next big thing. This solves the problem with immersion and productivity, that resolution is going to be a nightmare trying to run... RTX 6090 will be needed. I have the G9, and after doing the math in terms of physical size, going to a 21:9 OLED really just seemed like a side grade without major benefits, especially since it's a WOLED panel that's a step down in color.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I've had the 49 OLED for almost 2 years now, got one at launch. It's a great monitor. My only real complaint though, is just how buggy the damn TV OS it uses is. Still have frequent issues with the displaying blanking out while alt tabbing, or sometimes the UI just crashes and I have to physically reboot the monitor to get video output again. Outside of that, from a color and gaming perspective it's the perfect monitor. 32:9 and 240hz is amazing for playing boomer shooters, stuff like Forgive Me Father 2 or Project Warlock 2 are great on this monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->As someone who owns a G9 OLED, AW3423DW, and a LG 5k2k I will say that it all comes down to preference. Personally I rank the G9 the lowest. I don't love the format. I bought it for flight sims gaming and find that I don't use it much. It sits on a separate desk and my kids use it mostly. I love 21:9 and think the AW3423DW is the best display I have ever owned. I was a 21:9 early adopter and bought the first one ever made in 3440x1440. So I have been using the format and resolution for about a decade. As such I wanted something new. Enter the LG 5k2k. I had previously tried the 1440p version and it is comically bad. The PPI is truly awful. The 5k2k on the other hand is truly a remarkable experience. I anticipated I might return it. I don't like matte coating. I thought that 800r curve was going to be stupid. I wasn't a fan of the fact the PPI is only 126 instead of the comparable 140+ from the 32 inch OLEDs. After owning it though..... There is nothing like it. I have a 5090 so driving it isn't a problem. So for my two cents 1. LG 5k2k 2. AW3423DW (but a close second) 3. G9 (distant 3rd) I think the 32:9 format is going to die out. It just can't compare to these new bigger 21:9 https://howbigg.com/?displays=%5B%22Display+1_16x9_0_0_27_in_2560x1440_0%22%2C%22Display+2_21x9_0_0_34_in_3440x1440_0%22%2C%22Display+3_21x9_0_0_45_in_5120x2160_0%22%2C%22Display+4_32x9_0_0_49_in_5120x1440_0%22%5D
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Super Ultrawide user considering Super Ultrawide vs Ultrawide (G9 OLED vs LG UltraGear 5K2K) ->I've got the OLED G9 combined with an RTX 3070. If you wanna run the newest games on your monitor, then forget it. I couldn't get Horizon Forbidden West to run at 60 FPS, even on the lowest settings. Expect way worse results at a Dual 4K resolution, which is slightly more than 2x as expensive to run.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->I'm using the Samsung oled 5120x1440 and it's awesome.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Ultrawide monitor for RTX 5090 ->When you play an immersive game, it's nice to have "more game" in your peripheral vision. Idk, I can't go back after 32:9
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->Yeah that's why I like the gentle curve, work and gaming both feel good and 32:9 still immersive for me
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->u/LG_UserHub \- I currently use a Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED 49" super ultrawide. I can say that I wish the curve was more aggressive. The resolution is fine at 5120x1440p but I do wish it were a little bit taller on the view height like the 2160 size of 4k monitors. The 32:9 aspect ratio is good when the content supports it but most game devs don't do 32:9 but they do support 21:9. I would love to try out that 5k2k and would be able to provide a great real life testimonial if it is truly a better experience.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I agree with this take. I’ve got the G9 OLED, and I use it for both gaming on a Windows box and programming on a Mac Studio. Once I installed BetterDisplay and got it dialed in on the Mac, I absolutely love it. I’ve got VS Code setup up with dark Solarized highlighting, and it’s so easy to have docs open while having one or two files open for edit.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultra Wide - Productivity ->Just got the g9 oled 49 in. a week ago. I almost exclusively play Iracing. I’m working with ryzen 9 7900x with a 7900xt. I came from a single 1440 32 in. and was real worried about performance issues. It’s been worth every dollar, no issues at all, running near max settings (I think I have crowd and foliage turned down some) and seem to run close to 200 fps normally. Daytona start can drop frames a bit, but it picks right back up on formation lap. Hope this helped some.
r/simracing • Ultrawide vs Super ultrawide ->Just got my Samsung oled g9 and about to try elite tonight on it. Running 32gb or ram, a 5900x and a 3080ti. When I ran 1440p on my 32inch g5 I was getting decent fps. I'd wager it'll drop now with the 49" monitor but I hope not lol I love running this game on highest settings
r/EliteDangerous • CMDRs running Ultrawide monitors, what Monitor and Graphics cards do you use? ->Interesting, I have my G9 Oled plugged into my PC with Display port. But using a Macbook pro max M1 the screen quality is significantly worse. Am I doing something wrong? I think I was using Displayplort 1.4 cables to thunderbolt.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best big wide screen for a mac mini m4 pro? ->Samsung G9 Oled supports Gsync and Nvidia cards
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Recommendation Ultrawide Monitor G-Sync ->I currently own a G9 OLED after switching from 3x 27in 1440p LGs. I really miss being able to dedicate a screen to gaming, discord, and YouTube/ Spotify etc. I ended up switching to PBP mode and just gaming in 21:9 but it feels weird not being centered with the monitor when focusing on a game. I’m tossing around the idea of getting the 45in LG and mounting the G9 above it in PBP to solve that. I just don’t think it’s a big enough problem to spend 2K to fix. Someone tell me I don’t need this…
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->I like 32:9 screens. Got the Samsung g9 super ultrawide OLED and love it. I can swap easy or using PiP go half/half or 2/3:1/3
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The best ultrawide for home office (80%) and gaming (20%), budget: open. ->I currently use a 32:9 49” OLED, and absolutely love it. 21:9 seems to be the most adopted aspect ratio. Would love to see what Assassins Creed or Death Stranding looks like on this beast. It appears to be the best monitor you can get. Would absolutely love to test one out and give unbiased opinion.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I would’ve bought this in a heartbeat over the oled g9 but the 144hz was a deal breaker for me. Plus that stand is hilariously intrusive
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This is the cheapest 49'' OLED monitor ever. Any downsides or caveats? ->I got a g9 oled on sale for 900 from Amazon not the “smart tv” version but it’s been a great monitor for me so far
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 5120x1440 Ultrawide recommendations ->I have g9 oled and the lg 45 when i am switching betwen them from flat or little curve to 800r it makes me sick sometimes but if you will use just the lg you will get use to it eventualy.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 45GX950A Review – 5K2K OLED Is the CRAZIEST Gaming Monitor of 2025! ->G9 has no more negatives than any other monitor has. If it was trash no one would own them
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide Gaming Monitor in 2025? ->It is overblown. The panel has features to delay it from happening. Every 4 hours of use it will do a pixel refresh, and it has settings to save excessive light from staying bright and burning the panel in
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 49 inch monitor for gaming and productivity? ->Samsung G9, best monitor I’ve owned
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Monitor Ultrawide: Your suggestion? ->I use the G9 OLED for productivity and gaming. The hate is way overblown. I came from IPS and absolutely love the monitor. Text is clear and easy to read after calibrating. I'm on Windows 11, but maybe people using MacBooks or something don't have as great of results?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does the perfect Ultrawide monitor for productivity first and gaming second exist? ->My G9 Oled has been my second Samsung G9 monitor (and general samsung monitor) and the OG G9 I had before had many issues, this was fine for a year then the black screens started. Just put it in for "repair" with samsung UK which apparently generally results in a refund because they don't do replacements or repairs for this faulty product. I'm left here need 5120x1440 Oled 49" and don't want to downgrade to anything less, but not wanting to buy another Samsung G9 Oled because it too will eventually have the same issues. Is there any alternative, there seems to be loads of somewhat similar products from phillips, MSI, Asus, Gigabyte and lesser known brands but apparently they have the same panel as the G9 Oled and so would suffer the same issues?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Samsung G9 OLED 49" died, need new monitor recommendations ->34” is the standard mass-produced panel size, so honestly just get whatever. I’ve had good experiences with LG. Expect to pay around $240 for a LED panel. If you can spend a bit more, the standard choices would be the LG Ultragear 39 or 45 vs the Samsung Odyssey 49. Both are OLED 1440p. The Odyssey is wider (equivalent to two monitors side by side) but the Ultragear is taller and tends to work better for games (you don’t have to turn your head to see the minimap, etc.) The choice here is productivity (Odyssey) vs gaming (Ultragear.) Also be aware that the Odyssey is a Samsung so you have to sign in to an online account to use the menus, which I found very annoying.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Deciding on a 34 inch ultrawide monitor ->32:9, 8k2k, 49-52" or so OLED... nice sweet spot.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->As a G9 OLED owner - how are the smart features on the LG 5k2k? I'm real tempted to jump ship but the smart stuff on Samsung's monitor is *painful* to say the least, and is probably my only/main sour point with the G9 OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->That's why you flex the Best Buy TotalTech plan. Bought the 49 OLED Sammy, used it for 20 months. It developed some sleep issues, and I walked it right in, returned it, got my money back on a gift card (minus the $50 fee). Now holding onto the gift card for the LG coming out later this year.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG5K2K Review (Samsung G9 OLED Owner) ->Not even close. I cant even push og g9(5120x1440) with 3090. Without frame gen i cant maxout new titles anymore. I dont even blame the gpu tbh.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 5k2k 45GX950A-B 48hr review ->I like my Samsung G9 for wfh. It’s essentially two 27 inch 1440p monitors combined.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->Try fancyzones, a tool within PowerToys, a free Microsoft product. Helps a lot with my 49in ultrawide Samsung g9.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->It’s very sharp. Only thing I’d have liked is for it to be taller. It’s so extremely wide but only as tall as a 27 inch monitor.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->Yeah this was a struggle for me, choosing between the G9 and a bigger 4k monitor (or even 4k oled tv). For wfh the g9 is great, for some gaming (that would benefit from more vertical real estate) it’s terrible.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->It’s great but there are much better options. I went from Samsung G9 49” to triple 32 and the difference is HUGE
r/simracing • Is a super ultra wide monitor worth it? ->A couple tips on the G9: mount it directly in front of your wheel base. Touching isn’t too close. Secondly, enable triple monitor mode in games that support it; this will prevent stretching. Just check the display settings. After that, THEN use a fov calculator to get that set correctly. Mine mounted right behind the wheel came out to about 100 degrees. Having all of this set up correctly will have you judging speed and distance much more accurately.
r/simracing • Triple monitor advice ->Having tried both 16:9 and 32:9 monitors, I definitely feel like the sweet spot is 21:9. Looking forward to trying it out, I’ve ordered one but my country won’t have them available until June/July. This will be my first 4K and first OLED monitor, currently using Samsung G9 49”, just got hold of a 5090 and feels overkill for 1440p
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I have a 49" and 57" G9 Samsungs so not on your list that you're looking at and plugged into several Macs. First the 1000R curve is almost a must for me because the curve matches the plane of my eyes when I turn head, the screen looks straight to me. Great for ergonomics. The scaling and text quality is fine to me but I know others find it blurry compared to retina resolutions because ultra wide is a not a retina sanctioned resolution. That said, it works fine for productivity and movie watching. Others can opine on if the apps make it better. To me, the extra screen real estate is the win that I was chasing. If you need text clarity, stick with a 5k monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Macs and ultrawide monitors ->Using my 49-inch Samsung G9 for productivity! Va, but the text is super clear and I can do 3 screens at once on it. Get 1440p at 120 hz on my Macbook Air M3, but I am just using a dock I love anyway and needed for peripherals.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does the perfect Ultrawide monitor for productivity first and gaming second exist? ->I use the same in just a single monitor setup. If you actually do proper setup with the screen as close as possible and proper fov, it's way more immersive than it has any right to be and you just might be happy with the single. Regardless, whether single or triple, it's currently way too far away with poor fov. It should be as close to the back of the steering wheel as possible, just above the base, and the center of your eye to the center of the screen. Then use fov calculator and set it accordingly, 1-3 degrees off the calculation is fine but it's pretty accurate and I wouldn't recommend being more than 3 degrees off. https://dinex86.github.io/FOV-Calculator/
r/simracing • Triple monitor advice ->I ended up just getting one without USB c/thunderbolt because the options were pretty limited. Would have been nice but I can deal without
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) ->The Samsung g9, so 32:9 instead of 21:9
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) ->Then I stand corrected. I had a 55 Ark before going back to the 49 G9, and assumed they were using similar panels/pixel density, seems to not be the case. The ark was fully compatible on 1.4 and 2.1 at full spec. If the 59 truly can only operate on DP 2 1, then i am thoroughly shocked. Wild that you cant get full specs using the best card on the market rn.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide monitor? price not an issue. ->I currently have a 49" Samsung G9 and been on the market to replace it with something more practical for work. while its great sometimes I feel like a less aggressive ratio like the 21:9 on this GX9 would be more practical for work. this has it all!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Windows + alt + B. If you have an RTX gpu and you have no other monitors plugged into the GPU, just leave HDR on and enable RTX HDR. I also have the Odyssey ultrawide oled. This combo is good.
r/buildapcsales • [Monitor] Alienware - AW3423DWF 34" QD-OLED Curved 165Hz .1-ms Ultrawide FreeSync Gaming Monitor - $649.99 (Best Buy) ->I have mine hooked up to a Samsung G9 49” @240hz with no issues.
r/macmini • M4 Mac mini compatibility problems with ultrawide monitors? ->I have a 49” Odyssey g9 and a 4080 Super, as well as a 7900XTX, both can run the display just fine. I’m getting around 130fps in space and around 80-90fps in cities. Rendering at full resolution. The ultrawide is crazily immersive! But it def has some drawbacks. In addition to what other have said, other games may not support it, which makes it the opposite of immersive, seeing the big black mars on either side. Biggest thing for me is a monitor this big and heavy is just a pain. You need a huge space, a huge desk, and the stand leaves little room once set up. I got an arm for it, which was expensive because it needs to be very strong, and that arm broke my desk with the weight. Then I got another desk, and even with it being a solid core desk (not solid wood, but plywood with a metal frame) it has still managed to permanently bow the desk top…and it’s a good desk. If you’re using it for a few hours at a time with a high refresh rate, it gets quite warm. Warm enough that I can feel the heat radiating off the screen from several inches away, and that heat (at least in my case) is enough to heat my office up a degree or two over time. I’ve had some issues recently with flickering that I’ve been trying to address, and support hasn’t been super helpful. We move probably once every year to every two years, and this is a pain to move. We have to store the giant box it came in, since there isn’t any other way to safely secure it, and again, the thing is gigantic, so it’s just difficult. All that said, I still love the monitor! It’s so immersive and cool. If the OLED model had been out when I was buying a few years ago, I would have gone for that. It’s so much smaller and lighter.
r/starcitizen • Ultrawide screen for SC, any recommendations? ->I had the original 49” G9 with a 3090 back in 2021 and it was great. I just recently switched to the 57” with a 5090. Your 5080 will be more than enough for that resolution. You’ll want to use all of the AI tricks to use ray and path tracing but you’ll get a solid FPS.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Really considering this monitor - have a 5080 ->Pro: Playing SC with a 49" is very immersive, you have a great view, it's really nice. Con : SC is not optimized for ultrawide yet (lot of icon or effect are cropped). I have a G9 Odyssey with a 3070, and frame rate is horrible...
r/starcitizen • Ultrawide screen for SC, any recommendations? ->I have had a g9 odyssey for 4 years, three house moves. No dead pixels, no issues, great monitor. If you take care of stuff it will usually take care of you in my experience. I would purchase another G9 at this point if I needed to. It's been great to me.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Recommendations on my 1st ultrawide ->As an owner of the 49” ultrawide monitor Odyssey G9, I believe the sweet spot for the ultrawide monitor is between 39” to 45”, 5k resolution with at least 120 hz refresh rate. Anything bigger is too big and anything smaller defeat the purpose of ultrawide concept. Of course in order to take advantage of this, you need a high end system with a 4090 or higher video card, which I currently have.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I use a 49” Samsung Odyssey G9 with a M2 Pro Mac mini at 5120x1440. Works fine, with no blurred text under macOS and Windows 11 on VMware Fusion (which is now free for personal use, BTW).
r/mac • An ultrawide curved monitor suitable for a Mac – does this exist at all? ->I have both, i prefer the g9 as it works every time, no tweaking settings and i get a bigger fov. I do miss the depth perception and elevation changes so i understand why people can’t go back to screens. Running at 200fps is incredibly smooth and everything is clearer than you’ll ever get in vr so I’m happy with my decision.
r/iRacing • Should I switch from VR to Ultrawide ->32:9 of 2 27’ monitor no compromises xD
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What size of ultrawide is big enough to justify dropping dual setup? ->I use the Samsung g9 but not OLED
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What size of ultrawide is big enough to justify dropping dual setup? ->Don't get an OLED, as good as it is for gaming and movies it is bad to read texts on. Samsung odyssey g9 or lg UW dual qhd, both are great
r/Monitors • Please reccomend an ultrawide monitor with good text clarity ->I’ve had one since it came out and I love it! I was badly messed around by Samsung customer service when I ordered a G9. It’s got a better burn in warranty and some great anti-burn in technology. The MSI OLED care that pops up after 4 hours of use is a bit annoying but I have no regrets at all that I didn’t go Samsung.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This is the cheapest 49'' OLED monitor ever. Any downsides or caveats? ->I'm not going to tell you what to do, just share my experience I've moved from a reverb G2 to a G9 ultra wide and setup head tracking with my webcam and open track and I'm perfectly happy to have left VR in my rear view. Image clarity, frame rate and the lack of fucking around optimising VR are all worth it. I use a playseat trophy and have the monitor mounted right over the top of my wheel
r/iRacing • Should I switch from VR to Ultrawide ->Would be great to upgrade from an AW3821DW. Tried a g9 odyssey and returned it. Sweet spot is definitely 40".
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Work/Productivity and value only? Probably yes. OLED is out of question, so you're stuck with VA or IPS. Unless you need Samsung most of the 32:9 VA panels are the same 144hz/240hz panel Samsung uses - you might find a cheaper 32:9 VA from ASUS, Acer, Phillips, Illyama, AOC - most use the exact same panel, some OC it out of box or offer other stuff that could actually be interesting for work/productivity (like a built in kvm, usb-c power delivery, speakers, etc.). LG does 32:9 IPS panels, better color and viewing angles on those make it interesting for productivity/work too, depending on the type of work. So I would keep those in mind and check the pricing in your country. Maybe there's a better option, otherwise the entry level G9 is totally fine for work.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • SAMSUNG 49 inch Odyssey Curved Black Dual QHD Gaming Monitor, 144 Hz LS49FG910ENXZA is this the best value option for work productivity only? ->Triples are least expensive and give best FOV if you have the space. The Samsung 49 inch G9 is more expensive, but it’s an easier setup and gives a very good FOV, but a bit smaller than triples screen. The Samsung Arc is massive, heavy and way expensive if you are just thinking using it for a sim right now. I got mine in sale and I’m happy with it. But it’s smart device, a great entertainment device/tv if you use a game console, it can even act as a game console, and it’s good for doing work but I’m not sure I could use it with my rig. It you want to go that big and your use case is only sim racing, just get a big regular monitor or tv.
r/simracing • Is a super ultra wide monitor worth it? ->I’ve had a G9, moved to triple screen for racing. Triples are better if you have the space.
r/simracing • What super ultra wide monitor is best for sim racing? ->Very personal opinion: 38” is the sweet spot for productivity and gaming. I had a giant mega 57 and it was way too big, I like having the entire monitor in my view at all times. Maybe it was my desk setup, but i sold it and replaced with an alienware 38” and fucking love it for coding and gaming a few hours at night. On a Mac I can have 3 good sized vertical windows with Amethyst window manager, or two full sized ones. One with code and one with the program open. Coming from 2560x1440 it’s the perfect size. For gaming it’s also better because yeah a mega giga 57 inch can be really immersive, but like I said it felt like a better experience being able to see the whole thing without having to move my head or neck. There’s definite value in the giant ones and you may love it, but consider getting a nice 38” or 40-something OLED top of the line one (144hz, GSYNC, etc). For reference i have an alienware A3821W. Had the samsung G9 for the giant one
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The best ultrawide for home office (80%) and gaming (20%), budget: open. ->I have a non oled g9 and it serves me well
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best non-OLED ultrawide ->I was really happy with my original g9 for sim racing, but since I got a quest 3, I don't think I've done any racing without vr since. Total game changer for me imho. Also the quest 3 is so much cheaper than a super ultra wide 😜
r/simracing • What super ultra wide monitor is best for sim racing? ->I have issues screen sharing with my G9. If you can share just a window it solves the screen sharing issue, but if your going to share the entire screen, others will have issues and need to zoom in on an area.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 45GX950A Review – 5K2K OLED Is the CRAZIEST Gaming Monitor of 2025! ->Playing on Samsung odyssey G9. Advantage: * You can see from tier 2 to tier 1 tower in one screen and have more information available to you * You have no space for a second screen with youtube that distracts you Disadvantage: * It can be too much information, which can make you lose focus on the closer things or in general be overwhelming (especially at the start, you will get used to it) * The shop is quite far in the corner, smart shopping is neccesary (key binds or multiple items in shopping queue) * Basically you cannot shop and look at your hero at the same time if your camera is centred Overall it is pretty good but nothing ground breaking. I wouldnt pay the high price of such a monitor for dota. They shine more at atmospheric games with good graphics, imo. But Dota 2 does work better than some games as you have no black bars but a real full screnn. Many other games (eg PoE 2) dont tolerate the 32:9 but only go to 21:9 with black bars for the rest
r/DotA2 • Are there ultrawide monitor gamers here? ->32:9. I cant go back. There's so much information you can see. I have an Samsung odyssey g9.
r/simracing • 21:9 or 32:9 ultrawide for simracing? ->What about a OG G9 or the 49”Neo with Mini LED? Can you find those where you are? I have a G9 I use for work and LOVE. Not as big a fan for games actually so got a Corsair Xeneon Flex for that.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->I have a satechi 6in1 dock/adapter on my 15in m2 air with a usb c to display port cable from Best Buy connected to the dock and it just works on my g9 won’t do full resolution with 240hz but it does full resolution with 120hz no apps needed. I have my mba on a verticals stand and just keep it behind the monitor plugged into MagSafe
r/macbookair • Use with a super ultra wide monitor ->Biggest downside is PPI (Pixel Per Inch) density. For some jobs, it matters. I do software development so I want the sharpest text possible if I am staring at Visual Studio Code 8-10 hours a day. No ultrawide comes close to a (true) 5K or 6K monitor. I have a G9 Oddyssey and it actually hurts my eyes right after I use my two LG 5Ks. It has the same PPI as a 15 inch 1336x768 cheap Office Depot laptop at 108 PPI vs 219 PPI on a 5K monitor or 265 on my laptop. if you insist on an ultrawide, I suggest some of the 5K2K. It comes close to a true 5K but still not close enough. Always pull the PPI stats or calculate them (there are online calculators)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Want to switch to an ultrawide for work… are there any downsides? ->Samsung G9 and EVGA 3090. Dial everything up to maximum. It is glorious. VR still brings it to its knees though.
r/EliteDangerous • CMDRs running Ultrawide monitors, what Monitor and Graphics cards do you use? ->G9 is still the most sold 32:9 monitor, but i wouldnt call it the king. there is too much personal preference when it comes to monitors to even crown any monitor the best. there are a lot of people who really dislike 32:9 and also many, like myself, that really dislike 800r curve. than there is WOLED vs QD-OLED and Matt vs glossy. its a whole religion already and guys will debate for hours and hours only to agree to disagreeing. for me, i tried matt WOLED for a few months, switched to glossy QD-OLED and couldnt be happier. every single little thing that bothered me just disappeared. but that doesnt mean its the same for everyone else.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide Gaming Monitor in 2025? ->i would also never get a WOLED again, QD-OLED is just superior in basically every aspect. switched from an LG WOLED to the samsung G9 and the picture quality of QD-OLED is just so much clearer and better. (i am really picky when it comes to displays, so im definitely not the average user and ive been selling TVs for the last 18 years, so ive seen basically every tech stage from ctv to oled with all their ups and downs over the years)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 5k2k — day 1, not feeling it :/ ->I switched from VR to a 48 G9 Odyssey to triple 32s. I would've stuck with the UW but it died two months into owning it
r/iRacing • Should I switch from VR to Ultrawide ->Yes. I bought a Samsung Odyssey G9 49” for gaming. Even though the OLED display and 240Hz refresh rate are top notch, I couldn’t adjust to 32:9 for games. Not a fan of black bands on each side of a game ( most ). I prefer gaming on a LG C9 55” 4K (@120Hz) Now, the Samsung G9 is used solely for productivity. Excel is great on one third of the screen. Teams open on another 3rd of the screen; and the last third of a screen a browser open for AI/etc and I am rockin and rollin.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does the perfect Ultrawide monitor for productivity first and gaming second exist? ->For programming you want a high vertical height to have a good overview over your code. For gaming, you want a wide horizontal width in order to improve immersion. Theoreticaly, those requirements contradict each other. Now, there are different solutions to this. One solution would be a smaller and lighter widescreen than can be turned easily to be used vertically alongside your laptop for work or horizontally for gaming. This is the cheapest solution, but it can be annoying to readjust your screen twice a day. Another affordable option would be going for a non-ultrawide screen that is more flexibly in its use. Currently, my SO is using my old 32:9 Odyssey G9 Ultradewide for coding.... Let's just say, it wouldn't be comfortable for me. Too much vertical scrolling. Of cause, a good old two monitor setup should also be considered. It would also be cheaper than premium widescreens. Now, that being said - if you are willing and able to pay a premium price, the new LG 950 5k 2K would meet all your needs. Its massive screen size makes it highly immersive for playing and for work, with grwat clarity The screen (1m wide, 46cm high) can be segmented into multiple windows, e.g. one simulated vertical widescreen on the left for programming and two horizontal widescreens on the right for JIRA and TEAMs.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • UltraWide for Programming on a Mac and gaming on a PC? ->This review just made up my mind for me. Ordered. Thanks!
r/Monitors • the Samsung Odyssey 49" G9 G95SC and my Review ->Got it and love it, but having a bit of trouble running the G9 and a Neo G7 together. I use the G9 for games that support ultra wide but find that when I try to play games on my Neo G7 now it constantly reboots every 30 seconds or so.
r/Monitors • the Samsung Odyssey 49" G9 G95SC and my Review ->What an awesome opportunity! I reckon 40-50 is the sweet spot! I've used a Samsung G9 and found it a tad too big so I reckon a 45" will be golden!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->If you have room for triples I’d just go there. I had the g9 and went to triples. Would never go back.
r/simracing • What super ultra wide monitor is best for sim racing? ->It’s amazing for gaming. Don’t listen to haters who don’t actually own or use them. I’ve owned a Gigabyte WQC34 curved 34” monitor and it was great. I upgraded to a Samsung G9 49” monitor and it is AMAZING. I love how immersive it is, how much real-estate I get, and the overall experience. Absolutely no drawbacks except needing a beefy GPU for 5120x1440. There are no games I play that can’t do 5120x1440, except PoE2. Then, it’s just like running a 34” widescreen instead. But every other game plays at native 5120x1440 and looks amazing. Highly recommended.
r/pcmasterrace • People who use ultra wide curve monitor, is it as good as it looks? ->It is a bit noticeable when the picture switches between light and dark, like looking at shadows in game. It takes some getting used to but once your eyes adjust to it you kinda forget about it. The panel is great otherwise, it’s quite bright and feels responsive. I have recently upgraded to a Samsung odyssey g9, which is an oled panel, but the gigabyte panel can surpass its brightness in full screen. (The oled panel is still brighter in smaller windows though) I still use my gigabyte monitor as a secondary display
r/Indiangamers • Looking for a 21:9 Ultrawide Curved Gaming Monitor with 144Hz at least (under 40k) ->G9 odyssey, I can never go back.
r/webdev • What's better, 34 or 38 inch Curved monitor? ->I got the Samsung Odyssey G9 on Black Friday and let me tell you it is so awesome. You have to go PiP mode if you’re gonna play a console game on it but still doing video/animation work on the ultra wide is luxurious as can be
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->I bought 49” g9 a couple months back. I’ve been happy with it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Can anyone reccomend some good Ultrawide monitors in 2025? ->Buy what you can afford with what fits your situation. I bought mine on sale from Amazon for $900cad. Now it back to $2000. If mine didn’t come down so low I would have never bought it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Can anyone reccomend some good Ultrawide monitors in 2025? ->I just upgraded to a Samsung G9 49", but was using an Omen 34c, which is a 34" 21:9 monitor that runs at 165hz. I was able to get it for about $400, and I plan to send it with my son for his college dorm room as a second screen. Are you connecting to PC or console, or both? What video card do you have? EDIT: i just did a search on BestBuy as a sanity check. You can get refurbished on clearance under $200. Any new 27" monitor at 144hz-240hz, on sale, with minimum res of 2560x1440, is running $200+ That said, there were some good monitors on sale.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Any not super expensive 240hz ultrawide monitor? ->I've been rocking a 49" G9 for almost 5 years now and I decided about a year ago that my next monitor would be 21:9. The 32:9 is great, but I don't feel like I'd be less immersed with the new 45" UltraGear
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Super Ultrawide user considering Super Ultrawide vs Ultrawide (G9 OLED vs LG UltraGear 5K2K) ->Which mac do you have? I'm also interested in what resolution are you running it on? I'm currently on a Samsung G9 49", which is fantastic because I can have 3 windows open at any given moment, but I really dislike the VA panel and the 1440p resolution with low dpi. I would be willing to sacrifice the 3 window setup to two window setup if I can get HiDPI, and enjoy a retina-like experience. I'm currently on a MacBook M1 Max, but it seems like it cannot handle the 120hz of the U4025QW, so I would probably upgrade to either MacMini M4 Pro, or a Mac Studio M4 Max when that comes, hopefully that would be capable of running this screen properly.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best big wide screen for a mac mini m4 pro? ->45” may just be the sweet spot. I use a 49” G9 and a 38GN950 which are both brilliant but in the middle could be a great compromise
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I’m on a 49 inch Samsung G9 5120x1440p. My old build 5950 & 3080 held reasonably well but did struggle at times.
r/pcmasterrace • Advice on (ultrawide) OLED monitor ->I almost went with an OLED, but I decided I didn't want to baby my display all the time and worry about burn in. I had a 49" Samsung Odyssey G9 previously. When it went out, I couldn't get myself to go with a smaller size and I really liked the 1000R curve, so I bought this year's version of the 49" Samsung G9 that Best Buy had on sale for $799.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Ultrawide monitor for someone scared of burn in ->I’m currently rocking the 49” Samsung Odyssey G9 which is a nice monitor and great for work. I love the space and it’s very nice for gaming. I’ve been considering this monitor because the down side of the G9 is I don’t have much space for monitors in the side. I have one stacked above it and it’s like cracking my neck every time to look up. Knowing the aspect resolution is smaller is enticing to me from a gaming perspective, most likely more frames. I have a 9800X3D and a 9070 XT. Would you still recommend this monitor for my use case? I literally just searched for reviews and found yours last night 😂
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 45GX950A Review – 5K2K OLED Is the CRAZIEST Gaming Monitor of 2025! ->Why would you have 143 fov? Are you sitting 6 inches from the screen? I have the same monitor and use 108
r/iRacing • Advice on PC Build for iRacing on a 49” Ultrawide Screen ->When I get that close, my eyes get crossed up lol. No idea how you can manage that but props to you
r/iRacing • Advice on PC Build for iRacing on a 49” Ultrawide Screen ->Get as big of screen as you can afford. I went from the 49" g9 to tripples and it's such a big difference. The 49" was good but still preferred vr since I couldn't see apexes. Now I have tripples I hardly use vr.
r/simracing • What super ultra wide monitor is best for sim racing? ->I would always go bigger. What I program (travel systems) isn’t important for resolution, but even with 49 G9, 27 portrait, and 55 (tv on wall behind), I could still go for more screen estate
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Choosing an ultrawide monitor for programming (and occasional gaming) - 49" vs. 57" dilemma ->I use my M1 MacBook Pro with my odyssey G9 at 5120x1440 and it handles it perfectly. I see no reason the m4 mini would have a problem.
r/macmini • How Mac Mini M4 works with ultra wide 49" screens (5120x1440)? ->I play on Borderless Display mode 2560x1440 240fps on my Samsung Oddyssey G9 UW. Playing on full screen just feels too much. Easier to focus on 16:9.
r/RocketLeague • Question for players playing with (ultra)wide monitors ->It would feel too short. The 49” G9 is a 27” 16:9 display in vertical height. The LG 45” 5k2k is a 36” 16:9 display in vertical height.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best ultrawide in your opinion? ->Like the others said here, your monitor is too far imo. I have the same one above my wheelbase and its decently immersive. Maybe try that first!
r/simracing • Triple monitor advice ->I have no issues using my Samsung Odyssey G9 QHD with my Mac mini M4 Pro. It’s connected via Thunderbolt to DisplayPort, running 5120x1440 at 240Hz.
r/macmini • How Mac Mini M4 works with ultra wide 49" screens (5120x1440)? ->I went from 27" 1080p triples to a 49" G9 ultrawide. Only stayed on the ultrawide for a few months before upgrading again, this time to 32" 1440p triples. It's a night and day difference, not even close. The 49" is perfectly fine but it pales in comparison to triples.
r/simracing • 43" tv or 49" ultrawide monitor? ->Before buying my 49" inch G9 I heard the same kind of reviews from various sources - that the curve of the screen is difficult for the eyes to get used to, among other things. I did enough research to come to the conclusion that those reviews were total bullshit. After receiving mine, I now think that those reviews were *surely* paid by competing companies as the 49" G9 is literally *perfect* for the eyes. I suspect that the same thing is happening here.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why I'm returning my 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ->Yeah I dunno, the 49” has the same sort of thing going on with sort of flat ends. It’s not noticeable and it’s probably intentional to improve UX.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why I'm returning my 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ->49” G9 with M4 mac mini running display port connection works nicely when it works. The constant disconnecting from the back USB C port is a giant pain.
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->I have this monitor along with a 7800x3D and a 4090. With nearly max graphics and depending on the number of other cars on track, I average 170-220 fps at about 143 fov. So based on what you’re wanting, I’d say this is the hardware you want. There is no future proofing with that monitor running 240hz. Basically the next gen of chips/gpus (9800x3D + 5090) will be future proofing, because by then you’ll be maxing out your 240hz monitor.
r/iRacing • Advice on PC Build for iRacing on a 49” Ultrawide Screen ->Yeah not sure. I also have the g9 49” and absolutely love it. I also have the crg9 49” and the lack of curve is pretty noticeable. Much prefer the g9. Sounds like the 57” might be somewhere in between. I’d like to see one in person but can’t find it anywhere.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why I'm returning my 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ->I mean it really depends on what your standards are here. You're looking at like somewhere around 110 PPI which is pretty average and on par or better than most standard monitors you'd see in cubicles at companies that people work on every day. Perfectly serviceable but in this day and age we are spoiled with 300+ PPI screens on some of our devices so now we can notice the difference in text sharpness especially between the two so that's either something that bothers you or it doesn't. I'd say you're absolutely fine. I use the G9 5120x1440p and that's 110 PPI and is text blurrier than my phone or iPad? Yes. I can notice it if I pay attention and look at it but it doesn't bother me and I think it still looks great.. another person would see the density and never unsee the less than perfectly crisp text.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Asking about pixel density on a 34 inch 1440p ultrawide. ->Yes that 49" Samsung G9 is the best monitor out there. You can nicely fit 3 windows next to each other. Sometimes I will even do a 2:1:2 split With docs, terminal, code, preview, devtools Sometimes I wish the radius was slightly curved less because I like to sit close to the screen but then It is wider than my field of view. The more shallow version had much worse specs though. Still awesome though. I couldn't believe they had them on sale for $800 \~2 years ago. PS the 55" ARK and the new one look interesting as well but I don't know about the aspect ratio. They are closer to a TV panel.
r/webdev • What's better, 34 or 38 inch Curved monitor? ->Exactly what I think. There is so much room for activities.
r/webdev • What's better, 34 or 38 inch Curved monitor? ->I have a MacBook Air M3 and I use it with my Samsung G9 49inch monitor by connecting it from USB-C to DisplayPort and it works like a charm. Warning: not every cable works with the M3 chip so be aware to buy a good one. Tip: install the free program called Loop for your window management.
r/macbookair • Use with a super ultra wide monitor ->I second this. I use the same set up and essentially split the screen into 3 monitors. As my main layout I have the main center area take up about ~40% and the side areas take up ~30% each. Fancy zones also lets you have different layouts so the percent values actually change depending on what I’m doing but generally I have it as described above. Side note for OP, gaming can be wonky on a 49 inch ultra wide
r/VisualStudio • Visual Studio and ultrawide monitors ->I have a Samsung 49" wide, curved, gaming monitor (5120 x 1440) I also use for work. With Windows PowerToys Fancy Zones, it's a great way to lay out windows.
r/VisualStudio • Visual Studio and ultrawide monitors ->49” Samsung odyssey
r/AskProgramming • Thoughts on Ultrawide monitors for coding ->I have a mac mini M1 on a 49" 5120x1440 monitor and i am never going back.
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->It's not tall, it is just really really \*really\* wide (whole width of my desk), which is amazing for how I work. Would not work well as a TV at all ;)
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->I have a Samsung 49" 5120x1440. Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4. I used to have a 2080ti which could get 60-100FPS in space, 30-40 FPS on the ground. A mix of settings per the guidance from the nVidia GeForce Experience app. I upgraded to a 4080 and am now locked at 120FPS in space, and 60-75FPS on the ground. Weirdly, when on the ground and not hitting the 120FPS cap, none of my components are bottlenecked in any way (I'm running an Aida64 sensor panel on another screen). GPU Power, RAM, frequency, VRAM, utilisation, all well below max. No CPU thread more than 25-30%. I don't know why it can't run at the full locked FPS.
r/EliteDangerous • CMDRs running Ultrawide monitors, what Monitor and Graphics cards do you use? ->I use a Samsung 49" and dell ultasharp 27 " best to open ArcGIS pro on one monitor, and connect both windows and Mac and still have additional monitor. But that might go over $400.
r/gis • Monitor Suggestions ->my current desk is 55.1" x 23.6", a bit off from your dimensions i used to run dual 32" for content consumption and gaming(both console and PC), i did run dual monitor arms for the displays and to me it didn't feel like they both were too wide for my desk with them going over a bit on each side. gaming and web browsing were the priority for that setup. next setup was with an 49" Samsung(for gaming and productivity), the dual 32s' mounted to the wall atop the 49" were for things like discord, emails and web browsing. though i enjoyed all the screen real estate, it didn't last long and thoughts of sizing down became paramount. i thought "how about" an single 34" but having 32" displays it didn't feel right, then i thought 45" LG Ultragear OLED but after owning the 49" (to me) that was still a tad bit wide for what i wanted. i ended up with an newly purchased(earlier this month) 39" LG Ultragear OLED. FOR ME it checks all the things i was looking for as far as size, specs and use. I use it for photo/video editing via my new mac mini m4 and def for FPS gaming(again console and PC). HDR when gaming has been an eye opener and game changer on this display. in my opinion, the 39" compliments MY desk's dimensions. On an monitor arm and positioned directly in the middle of the desk at arms length. haha, sorry for the looong read. good luck with whatever you decide.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best size ultra-wide monitor for a 48” x 30” desk (Work and gaming)? ->This company started off making high end portable oled monitors, I used to have one. This particular one is just the samsung 49" panel with their electronics powering it. Should be reliable.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Has anyone ever herd of this brand before? Anyone actually own this monitor? Seems like a great deal for a 32:9 OLED. ->Agreed I would go 57" I have had a Samsung 49"curved and now a philips 49m2c8900.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Choosing an ultrawide monitor for programming (and occasional gaming) - 49" vs. 57" dilemma ->I use a 49 inch samsung monitor. For regular gaming: its great and very immersive. Games that support it look great. Mechwarrior with it looks great because you really feel like youre in the cockpit. Downside of having such a big monitor is that the UI sometimes goes to the very sides of the screen, which is really annoying when you need to see the data on the screen. It makes you move your eyes off the center where the main focus should be. Some games like armoed core 6 actually centered the UI towards the midde instead of having the HUD on the edges. It was a great surprise when i was playing it. Also, some games dont support the full resolution and will give you black bars on the side. Examples that come to mind is Street Fighter and Diablo 4. As for sim racing, its very immersive but you still dont get the complete FOV triples would get you. Another trade off is the verticle height of the monitor. Ultrawides are usually wider, but not taller. Taller monitors can give you a little more distance in the window, a better view of the approaching hill. If that makes any sense…. However, the good thing is, its only 1 monitor to run. So not too bad on performance. Easy to set up and takes less space than triples would. Personally, if i had a massive amount of space, i would build a dedicated sim rig with a triple screen set up. But for now, i use my 49inch with a wheelstand on my desk, sonce thats all the space i have. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions!
r/simracing • Is a super ultra wide monitor worth it? ->I've played it on both my Gigabyte 34" screen, as well as my Samsung 49" display. It's absolutely glorious to look at.
r/starcitizen • Ultrawide screen for SC, any recommendations? ->I have an Ultrawide curved 49in Samsung monitor and it’s awesome.
r/mac • An ultrawide curved monitor suitable for a Mac – does this exist at all? ->2 different 49" samsung models both died on me in about a year. Would not recommend, neither was OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide monitor? price not an issue. ->2 different 49" samsung models both died on me in about a year. Would not recommend, neither was OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide monitor? price not an issue. ->Yep I use the Samsung G9 57 and the 49 before that. Picture By Picture works brilliantly for work and then I change to a single display for gaming.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Super ultrawide that acts as two true monitors? ->I started on the Samsung 49” for editing and loved it. Same real estate as 2 27” monitors. The curve didn’t bother me at all. I decided to splurge and got the Samsung 57” ultra wide and I love it even more. It’s equivalent to 2 32” 4K monitors side by side. I also prefer it to the 49” because it’s noticeably taller than the 49”. The 49” sometimes felt a bit narrow.
r/editors • Curved monitors? ->Got Samsung 49” monster, 1080p. It’s pretty good, I haven’t really encountered any problematic games aside from Souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro. And even those can be fixed via open source software. Surprisingly, all Resident evils, ( even RE5 ) are supporting the resolution. Can’t even imagine playing on anything else anymore. CS 2 is a bit of a wreck though
r/DotA2 • Are there ultrawide monitor gamers here? ->The only disadvantage is it’s heavy asf, and due to my table being from IKEA, can’t mount it with arm in fear of table giving in to pressure. Also the leg basically takes up the whole table
r/DotA2 • Are there ultrawide monitor gamers here? ->why not both? i have the samsungs 49in monitor next to my gigabyte 27in
r/excel • Two monitors or ultrawide? What is everyone using? ->I think Samsung probably has more issues than other brands, but it gets blown out of proportion. I've had a Samsung 49 since 2020 which my wife now uses and the Samsung 57 since it launched without any issues.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 57" Ultrawide? ->We have the 49” Samsung and love it.
r/simracing • 43" tv or 49" ultrawide monitor? ->I built a setup just like this and when I put it together I realized it was terrible. Returned the TV and got a 49" ultrawide Samsung instead, much happier with it
r/simracing • 43" tv or 49" ultrawide monitor? ->I ran a 49 Samsung and a 43 Samsung side by side. The curvature allows a lot more for your eyes to take in. I like being able to see a wider field of view in FPS games. Diablo 3/4 are also a lot of fun when you can see what would normally be off screen. https://preview.redd.it/obe5ikwbhmid1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65c17f44122b2d6e3f68b865079f367abf30a202
r/pcmasterrace • To gamers who game on ultra-wide monitors: why? ->I got it on sale for $1399 @ B&H. I probably looked at every other monitor above 34" out there. Test drove a 49 Samsung for a while, even tried the 57 but it was way too big for my desk.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Dell U4025 still the best productivity monitor? ->The Alienware for sure.... was in between that one, LG 45' and the G9. No regrets.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 34" Ultrawide now ? ->You could even go for the G9. But only AW has burn in warranty. And that's a real game changer.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 34" Ultrawide now ? ->I use the odyssey G9 32:9 1440 , First part is somewhat right, my postman thought its a mini fridge. it absolutely is bigger than a coffee table, one of the biggest reasons why I can't bring it to my girlfriends house, as there is no table there strong enough to hold it. it is very immersive, it's not a flat screen so when you're looking at say destiny 2, you would have your normal screen at 16:9 , but in the corner of your eyes the border wouldn't exist, it would be more screen, 50% more to the left and to the right.(32:9) If you're playing CSGO, you have a lot more advantage, in some cases when you see 1 door, I'll see 3 doors and the entire room. Racing games also super immersive. Added picture as example. https://preview.redd.it/5loc9833ylid1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c12eaf38f932263bf66fe2b48d14356ede42b5b6
r/pcmasterrace • To gamers who game on ultra-wide monitors: why? ->21:9 I got a 32:9 and I’m regretting it 😭. Going to return it anyway back to Samsung
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I'm running a Samsung Odyssey 32:9 at 3840x1080, graphics set to ultra. I have a Ryzen 7 3800X cpu with an RX 6750X, and 32 gb of ram. So essentially a 6 year old processor with a 3 year old gpu. I get right at 144 fps consistently in space and about 100-135-ish on foot.
r/EliteDangerous • CMDRs running Ultrawide monitors, what Monitor and Graphics cards do you use? ->
