To add: With a properly calibrated FOV, a single 49" monitor cannot see the right sideview mirror in GT cars. This makes anyone using a single 49" monitor a risk on the track as they may turn into other users without knowing they are there. A 49" is perfectly fine for open wheel cars where you're seated in the exact center of the vehicle and have the ability to see both mirrors. I came from a 49" monitor to 3x 32" monitors and now I have a proper FOV and full visibility of all my mirrors when driving GT cars.
Nah, it's really just money, time, and patience at the end of the day. It's a hobby that I have enjoyed for a really long time so it was easier to justify the expenses (within reason). I'll lay everything out and hopefully you'll find some use in the details. I ended up getting 3x CORSAIR 32" IPS XENEON displays that support 2560x1440 resolution @ 165Hz (32QHD240). There are two versions of this display and I went with the one that supports HDR600 (the more affordable version is only HDR400). All in all, It was super easy to setup but that could be because I'm using Sim Lab's triple screen stand with their VESA mounts, which is the flagship mounting option for any sim rig. I then took it a step further with a bezel-free kit so that I could get rid of the bezels between the individual panels and have it appear as one seamless display. This took a little effort as I ended up buying 2x sets of 3D-printed adapters on some ETSY store so that I could mount the bezel-free kit between the left and right 32" display (the stock bezel-free kit only supports 27" monitors by default so the 3D-printed part acts as an extension) The only real hiccup I ran into was that the furthest monitor away from my computer required the purchase of a longer display-port cable as well as a longer power cable. I was really eager to get it all working only to find out that the OEM cords didn't reach so I had to wait a few days for shipping. Oh, one thing I did learn though, after a whopping 13 years of simracing, is that AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround absolutely suck! Using them really tanks the performance and causes the left and right screens to appear stretched out and distorted. Thankfully, most modern simracing titles support triple screens natively, which means that you have to disable the use Eyefinity or Surround and change the in-game settings to support 3 displays. From there, the simulator will include a way to adjust the angle of each screen for a proper FOV without any stretch or distortion -the framerate will see a nice bump too.
For what itās worth: I bought a Samsung 49ā super wide monitor a few years ago. It was nice and wide but I found that the curve wasnāt curved enough. To comfortably see the outer portions of the screen I had to move side to side instead of just pivoting/rotating. I ended up returning it and have since just been using 2 aux monitors.
Iām on a 49 inch Samsung G9 5120x1440p. My old build 5950 & 3080 held reasonably well but did struggle at times.
Yeah. I use my G9 for work/productivity. 32:9 is sadly poorly supported in games. Many games support ultrawide (21:9), but when you're going superultrawide the sides are just getting stretched and you can encounter bugs here and there in certain games. I actually prefer 16:10 but I guess thats so year 2000.
I just bought the same monitor today...will end up returning it as eBay had a better deal with the 95SC...Don't need the TV crap and it ended up being \~$400 cheaper (with warranty)
I have the G9 oled since I also use it for other games.
I have both, i prefer the g9 as it works every time, no tweaking settings and i get a bigger fov. I do miss the depth perception and elevation changes so i understand why people canāt go back to screens. Running at 200fps is incredibly smooth and everything is clearer than youāll ever get in vr so Iām happy with my decision.
I love my G9 because of work, although I find fonts blurred, but having three windows open at all times is great. However, for gaming I prefer the 21:9, it has more vertical visibility. The super ultra wide feels chopped on top.
