Henry Canister Series

TL;DR: Durability king, budget price, but heavy and poor on carpet.

Miele for the house - I have it for more than 20 years. Nothing can beat it. Have a Dyson cordless for quick jobs - every year needs serious maintenance. Luckily I am an engineer and can take it apart and deep clean it. Frankly with all the PR around Dyson's engineering marvel - it is a piece of shit and it wasn't built to last. Henry for the garage and car cleaning. Good workhouse - it hurts my eyes to have it in the house. Too industrial looking.

I ditched my cordless Shark for a Henry Hoover. BEST decision I ever made! There was so much debris in my carpets that the Shark repeatedly missed. In a single use on the Henry, my carpets were their original colour again! 😄 (I have children, they destroy carpet on a daily basis!) The Henry never loses suction, can actually hoover under the sofa, finds all the dirt in the nooks and cranies of the room. My parents got their Henry in the early 2000's and it still runs as perfectly as day 1! Get the Henry!

Seconded. Henry lives his best life on the farm (dust, mud and more dust).  The Dysons et all surrendered at between 6 -18 months. I think she would give away one of her kids before she gave up Henry.

It's probably not great. Despite claims of a hepa filter there's no way at this price it's a sealed system so you will be getting air and dust/allergens etc...escaping throughout the air path before they reach the filter. If £20 is really your top budget or if you can stretch a little I've had a look on FB marketplace for Miele and Henry vacuums. Miele's are out there for 40,50,60 - yes they're older models and used but they'd be significantly better than something new and cheaply built. You can get Henry for 30,40 I even saw one at 20. Again, this would be significantly better than the new and cheap vacuum.

Our Henry is well over 20 years old now. Indestructible.

Henry has always been the best hoover in my eyes and I've used many over the years. However I admit that they are cumbersome and they do deliberately throw themselves over in a tantrum, grab the corners of walls to avoid their workload and talk shit about you behind your back all while having a very smug look on their stupid red faces. That being said I would also reccomend miele. Also very good quality but much less personality.

Hands down the Henry. I have had two sharks, a Dyson and a Hoover upright, all bagless. My Henry Pet has out lasted them all and Neumatic have great customer service and are a UK made product.

I’ve got the 15 with the laser, and agree it’s really there for convenience I can quickly grab it whilst I’m waiting for the coffee machine to heat up or the kettle to boil and give the living room / lounge a quick once over, etc It takes a bit of maintaining, so I’ve got a couple of filters so I can swap out when one needs washing, and you’ve gotta take it “apart” occasionally and clean out the canister and vents inside with a brush, but it works and has enough suction to do a decent job. I’ve got a good old Henry for the deep cleans, has way more suction but is much more heavy to carry around and means pulling out the cable and plugging it in
