Why choose? I bought both the QuietComfort headphones and the AirPods Pro 2 earbuds last week. They both do things I need the other doesn’t. The AirPods will be used a lot more though.

I loved the QuietComfort back in the day but they are the same now, right? Micro USB to charge, outdated Bluetooth version, same price as before? That’s just insulting to technologically minded people. Give us a spec bump, add USB C and I’d get those. Otherwise, I prefer the Quiet Comfort Ultras. Airpods Pro 2 are…earbuds, right? You are asking about the difference between over-ear earphones vs earbuds? The AirPods Pro are frankly one of the best inventions that have come along in my lifetime, but you can’t compare them to over ear headphones.

I’ve had both the quiet comfort and the AirPod pros. The AirPods don’t stay in my ears well. They are nice for what they are but the Bose headphones are way way better. I didn’t get the ultras because I read to many complaints. If I tried a pair and they were way quieter I’d prolly be bummed.

I have the Bose QC Ultra Earbuds and the Apple Airpods Pro 2 (for my wife). Fit: Both are comfortable. But I'd say Ultra is better because after using it for a while, I sometimes forgot I was wearing the earbuds. Apple is deeper into the ear canal so you'll always feel it, however they are light -- no big deal. ANC: Ultra blows Apple out of water. No contest there. When my range hood is on high, Ultra blocks everything but there's still quite a bit from Apple. Sound quality: I'd say the Apple sounds more balanced out of box. Bose is heavier on the bass, which I don't prefer. However, I use the wavelet app on Android to EQ it back to a balanced profile. When doing so there isn't too much difference. Connectivity: I noticed the Bose would occasionally turn off in one of the ear as well. It's annoying but doesn't happen very often. There is sometimes the statics and electronics noise from the left bud, personally I'm okay with it. Personally I'd pick Bose Ultra. But hey you can buy both of them :) As for Bose QC -- they are not comfortable for me so I tried and returned them. Edit: grammar

You’re comparing apples and oranges. But I will say the APP2 are one of the greatest purchases I’ve made. If you have Apple Products it’s a no brainer. I use them everywhere. I don’t even travel with over ear headphones anymore because the ANC on the APP2 are good enough and they’re obviously way more portable. If you can afford both, they would complement each other well. Over-ear for when you’re working or watching movies. In-ear for when you’re on the go.

oh sorry my bad. in that case, its all preference. connectivity: if you own a bunch of apple products, this is no contest. if you don't then you can probably pick either and be happy. maybe the bose is better for general connectivity, but the apple ecosystem is unparalleled. sound: subjective. idk how the bose sound, but the APP2 sound great enough imo. ANC: i have no complaints with the APP2. theyre good enough. i cant speak on the bose. probably splitting hairs. transparency mode: i heard the APP2 are the best. i would agree with this because i often forget i'm wearing them comfort: subjective. some don't like the APP2 tips. to me theyre comfortable and light. portability: APP2 case is objectively smaller.

I have both and late to this. Got Bose as a Christmas present from parents. I’ve had AirPods forever. The Bose actually sound a lot better on a call. People have trouble hearing me on work calls using AirPods. I also have a Dell laptop. Hoping these help. Likely use Bose for the gym, work calls and traveling. Walking around likely AirPods. The sound quality with music is far superior imo. I plan to keep them because it was a gift and I’m a 42 year old man who can buy what he wants. If I was younger and had to pick as an iPhone owner, get the AirPods.

I just brought the Bose quiet, comfort ultra, and they are the best headphones I’ve ever owned so much so that I sold my AirPods Pro because in ear earbuds no longer work for me. They caused too much pain with my allergy ears so I would go for the ultras. The sound quality is awesome. The noise canceling is just fine and they’re the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever owned. Hope this helps.

AirPod Pros do not hold up to daily workout sweating for me. I’ve burned through multiple sets and the most recent pair started to malfunction while still under their 1-year warranty. Apple refused to honor the warranty though (said the case was submerged - it wasn’t, it was just exposed to sweaty AirPods being placed back into the case but there isn’t an appeal process). I grabbed yet another pair of Pro 2s a few months ago but added AppleCare for $29 this time. I can already tell this new set is also doomed as they’re already starting to crackle. Apple doesn’t make AirPods that will hold up to sweaty ears for long periods of time. AppleCare is a must because their warranty and warranty process is an absolute joke.

Nice review. I’m a new Air Pod user and mainly bought them as a hearing aid. After many years in a manufacturing environment my ability to hear high soft voices is frustrating. I also listen to music and have several blue tooth over the ear sets. The initial hearing test was a bust for me as it kept getting an error message in the end saying that the noise in the room was too loud. That wasn’t the problem and after reading on Apples forum it a big problem. I was able to use an App called Mimi and upload those results after an hour of hearing tests. I really like them and use them for everything from watching tv to any important conversations. They are a game changer for the money to me.

They just don't work for some people. I have Sony wf1000xm5 with a very similar design but I also tried app2 and they just work their way out over time. Smaller tips don't make a seal so they don't sound good. The right size tips just work loose with vibration, talking, eating, etc.  Some people just have different shaped ears so the friction of the tips isn't enough.

For what it’s worth, the [headphone show team](https://youtu.be/SNpkLbuKpqY?si=BMdnPBtBZbYer0B4) love the AirPods Pro 2 All of these are very expensive for what they are, buds with a set life time that will become e-waste. The two of these I looked up have pretty mixed opinions in terms of sound quality and frequency response, and most likely have sub par ANC and comfort. It’s probably better to buy something like the AirPods Pro 2 which serve not only as a good pair of wireless earbuds that fit amazingly well, but also something that fits into an eco system, and has amazing quality of life features.

If you have an iPhone, AirPods Pro 2 no contest. They aged like fine wine, incredibly comfortable, great anc, great sound, tiny case, and an excellent suite of smart features that all work. They recently announced that AirPods Pro 2 could be used as an FDA approved hearing aid that comes with a medically approved hearing test to test and adjust for hearing loss (apples words). They are also advertising that the noise protection will function in a way that can be used for live music/concerts as smart earplugs. It’s probably one of the best purchases you can make for your iPhone period. But if you want something for other devices/ more focus on sound quality, the AZ80 and the MTW4 were on my short list of buds that I really liked from everything I got got demo. But even after having tried all of that I would be hard pressed to let my AirPods go. Because to get a “better” sound I would have to deal with how large the MTW4 is, and how large the case is, and how weaker the anc is and so on.

No, they are still too bassy and have a small soundstage, very in your head sound. I've tried alot of earbuds, the best ones sound quality wise have to be the Sennheiser momentum 4 true wireless, Technics AZ80 (or wait for the upcoming AZ100 on the 10th), and airpods pro 2. Bowers and wilkins Pi8 is boring, its your average V shaped sound signature, too much bass and treble.

I was traveling and I'd left one Apple earbud at home unintentionally, away from home for a couple weeks, didn't want to buy a new set of Apple Air pods for hundreds since I already have some, I grabbed a set of the Shokz with the usb c and they are lit. Love them BUT they don't work quite as well if you're running in the cold with winter hats and the like. And the volume go high enough to hurt your ears if you like that sort of thing. But they are plenty loud for running outdoors until the fire truck sirens are going by. I was able to test them out at a Target to reassure myself they'd work and I was satisfied. I have long use Apple Air Pod pro and love them but they require an aftermarket ear tip I order on amazon to fit my ears perfectly and not fall out. Good luck.

Unless you buy silicone wing tips for them, they shake loose very easily. I would recommend Jabra Elite 8 active. Never budge from your ears, totally sweatproof, sound good with great bass. If you’re using you’re own phone either directly or with a dialer, get a decent set of headphones and expense them though your company or embellish it on taxes. I have them all! The xm5s are formidable on all spectrums (I use them without anc in the gym because the passive insulation is excellent!) The AirPods are very good but the sound is much worse. The Jabra are comfortable, good active isolation and much better sound over the AirPod Pro 2. The momentum is excellent in sound quality, the ANC is equivalent to the Jabra. The Bose are excellent in anc but their really low end. If I had to give you an ultimate choice, if you listen to a lot of music and quality and reduction are important to you, Sony is the best placed. They are part of my daily and my favorite pair for listening to music with the Denon Perl Pro.

While ANC and comfort of Airpods are good, sound is terrible and not even as good as cheap $20 earbuds. Bose sounds great, good ANC, works with Android, iPhones, Mac, Windows and TV and they are super comfortable for longer periods of use in my ears .

I really think there's a big "fit" component to determine ANC effectiveness. My experience with the ones I've tested. Sony WXM4: impressive ANC, but not very comfortable. But ANC on planes was incredible, but after a few hours I had to take them off. Sony WXM5: for me very comfortable but I imagine I could not get the perfect fit to isolate passively so the ANC felt poor (but many reviews praise ANC). I returned them quite fast. Pixel buds pro 1: Very comfortable, more than both the Sony's, but the ANC for me is so poor I can hardly find a difference between having ANC off or on. Airpods pro 2: for me very comfortable and the ANC is really great I think not so much as the WXM4 but still amazing Conclusion all of these have many reviews praising ANC and in my case some of them have not achieved this so it really means that there must be a strong component of how they fit you

I have tried the latest AirPods Pro 2, the Bose QuietComfort 2, and the Sony WF-1000XM4, and now I have just bought the Bose QuietComfort Ultra. I have an Android phone and move a lot when listening, like cycling and working physically. The Sony headphones did not fit properly, and I lost one pair, so I bought a new one. They have good sound, but the noise cancelling is not overwhelming. However, what bothered me the most were the buds, which disintegrated, were difficult to clean, and did not fit very well in my ear. Maybe the ..5 are better? The Airpods fit very well in my ear. I like the desing and the way they glide into the case which is nice and smal. The noise canceling is as good as the from the Bose quietcomfort 2. Sound is good but still I like the sound of the Bose better. I liked my Bose 2 but the microfone stopped to work after 2 years of almost daily use in all weather. The only draw back was the quality during calls with noise around. Finally the Bose ultra. Which I think are amazing right now. They fit very well in my ears. I read a lot of reviews on them and I was not sure if they would fill my needs sound wise. On the other hand most of them were are year old. I updated the Bose earbuds at once. The sound is like always Bose, which I like best. The noise canceling is very, very good for being earbuds. Of course not yet as good as the Bose headphones but quite close. There was a lot of critic around the immersive sound. I listen a lot to audiobooks and it makes a big difference. I love the way they become more kind of a tale told in a room. Also for music it gives a feeling of space. I have tested the voice quality during calls, which is good, including moderate noise that worked very well. However, I have not tested it with heavy machine noise yet. So for me the Bose quietcomfort ultra were a good choice without major drawbacks beside the price.

If you're on an iphone I would serious consider the Airpod Pro 2. They're not at the top of the list for sound quality, but they're pretty high up the list. Meanwhile they have by far the best ANC which for what more people use True Wireless buds for, is a lot more important. I would avoid the sony. The XM5 is a step down from the XM4 in most Sony fan's eyes. And the XM4 has absolutely horrendous QA issues with battery life, to the point the top post in r/SonyHeadphones is about it and had to be stickied. For pure audio quality the Technics would be my pick, especially if you're willing to adjust the EQ to Treble+ in the app. But ANC is it's weak point. I have not tried the QC Ultra, but I dislike Bose as a company, so they are not on my list of contenders. For me after doing a bunch of research it was between the Technics and Apple. Honestly it would have been no-contest if airpods came in black. For less than the $400 colorware option.

The names that come up over and over again are all good. No amount of money is going to get you the best in every category. Just figure out what you prioritize and make a decision. Sound Quality? EAH-AZ80. Noise Cancellation? Airpod Pro 2 (if you're on ios) or Bose QuietComfort. etc. The only thing I will add is after the reliability nightmare that the XM4 was, I do not yet trust the XM5. The fact a lot of people prefer the sound quality of the XM4 is extra helpful in regards to eliminating them from contention.

I don't rate Airpods particularly highly. They are effecient, easy to use, and easy to find a good enough fit that stays put. To me their sound is somewhat narrow and a little thinner than the Sony or Senns. Mind you, they're still very good compared to the majority of TWS options, but I'd put them around a 6 or 7. My initial impression of the 100s is rather glowing. Broader sound, much more warmth and depth of sound without turning into some Beats-like muddled bass monster. They're like a 9 to me. These opinions may very well change once I can sit down and spend some time A-B'ing them against the Airpods and others. It could just be a case of "ooooh, new shiny stuff is always better" and I'll come to rate them lower. But right now, I'm just a big fan.

They all have compromises so it's just about picking what you prioritise For me I prefer the sound of the XM5 by quite a way The transparency is a million miles better on the AirPods, the ANC works better for me and the call quality is more consistent, most importantly the fit is impeccable for me I prioritise those features when I'm not listening wired so I end up using the AirPods most often The OnePlus buds sit middle of the pack for sound, transparency and fit but have the worst ANC

I have AirPods 2 Pro and just got the AZ-80’s. AZ-80 definitely beats the AirPods Pro 2 for music and sound quality, if you’re a busy person and talk on the phone a lot then stay with the AirPods. An other plus is that the AZ-80’s fit better in ear and they only really fall off with friction.

Wait till they stop working, whilst I think they have better sound quality, I don't think it's worth spending money if you already have decent earbuds. From an audio perspective, it will outperform wireless earbuds. But, you lose the other advantages of a quality tws. With an IEM, theres a cable, no ANC (although with well fitted ear tips you will get reasonable passive noise isolation), things like transparency modes so if you’re in an environment you want music but still want to know what’s going on around you, and so on. I love my IEMs. But when I’m out and about, at the gym, or even at home when I need to move around at home doing things, my AirPods Pro 2’s are my go to. And yes, the sound is still very, very good. But something like an SM4 will sound better, it may not satisfy all your needs. I like having both options, as well as over the ear headphones. For me, it’s like picking the right tool for the job.

The QC Ultra shouldn’t even be mentioned. I bought two of them last week as a gift to my wife and sent them back. Bose tried to save way too much money on them. The ANC has a very high level of continuous background noise with music on pause. It’s even hearable in low volume stuff. Also. The left earbuds of all of them have these static sounds and interference constantly. It’s so bad it’s insane Bose dares to ask this much for them. Internet is FILLED with people with these issues having gotten 3 replacements all with the same issues. Unless they fix them, don’t go near them. The sound is good though. But for the rest they suck. If you want constant noise and insanely annoying static and interference go for it. My AirPods Pro 2 are WAY better (just not in the sound department. I hope Apple updates that in a next iteration). I am even thinking to buy my wife AirPods Pro to use on her android just for how good they are. ANC is super quiet, sound is good. No strange noises. No connectivity issues. Only haven’t tried Sonys. If my wife likes them I will get her those.

I have the AZ80's coming in Tuesday. I also need major noise cancellation. I have iPods pro 2's and Sony XM5's. My old 4's died. I have tried 10 different manufacturers tips with the XM5's. If I get a comfortable set, little to no noise cancellation. The Sonic Foam are very uncomfortable, but have superb sound quality and great noise cancellation. Anything on the XM4's canceled sound way better than the 5's. The AirPods Pro 2's are really good for most of my noise at work, but deep rumble comes in depending on the job. The good news, I have some Comply tips for the XM5's that are comfortable and fairly decent for noise cancellation that may be great when the AZ80's come in. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would just get Airpods Pro 2 if you have an iphone. Their sound is immensely detailed and well tuned, I think they might've been the first in ear buds I've ever heard that has no defined peak in them (as in if I put them on very loud, every frequency hurts, not just one). Their ANC is also best in class and you get the Find My and other ecosystem goodies.

as long as you dont connect to windows with them. unless you enjoy having to disconnect and reconnect them every hour or so. oh, and the audio quality is trash on PC if the mic is enabled. Oh, and it will randomly ignore all your volume mixer settings and play everything at 100% forcing you to disconnect, then reconnect and disable the mic again to get back to the same quality you had before. no problem with them on my iphone, but i am about ready to throw them in a blender with how absolutely barbaric apple's bluetooth connectivity is outside of apple only products. it should be investigated by the EU commission to get it fixed like they did with their scam lightning adapters.

I use my AirPods Pro2’s for teams meetings. On my old phone, which I would use to call in to most meetings, I would get that irritating robotic sounding cutout. If on my iPad, I did not. It was also flawless when connected with a PC or Mac. When I replaced my iPhone recently I noticed that the quality was much better, with zero audio issues. In saying all that, it is likely a Bluetooth issue that is causing the problem - either the device you’re connected to, or the AirPods themselves. But as a brand of earbuds, the AirPods are solid.

I do a lot of treadmill running. Mostly, I use AirPods Max, but with the noise canceling off because the pounding of the treadmill will sometimes seem to overwhelm the noise canceling ability. even with noise canceling off, they are great at blocking all external noise. They are really great for running. I have white ones, and I bought an extra set of ear cups (green) that I use on the treadmill because they are just held on with magnets. That way, my running ear cups are the ones that get all sweaty, and my regular white ones stay clean and nice. Sometimes, I will use AirPods Pro 2, which are really great also, but once the sweat is pouring, they start to feel like they are going to fall out.

I don't know what your budget is, but the more expensive ones tend to be the better noise blockers. I have Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds that I use for gaming/listening to music while working to help block out when there's construction/tons of trains going by outside, and I recently bought Airpods Pro 2 that I use specifically for the gym, since the gym tends to play overhead music SUPER loudly to where my Bose ones were having a hard time cancelling it out. The airpods do a fantastic job of cancelling out 90% of the gym background noise, and once I turn on music, I pretty much hear no background noise. Both earbuds are excellent. But they are pricey, but it's seriously worth it.

If you get sweaty in the ear then it can come loose, but just wipe the sweat away and you’re good. It’s rare that they fall out. Only issue for me has been chalk getting into the microphone grilles. I have airpod pro (1st gen) and if I do anything that makes noise or there's noise like the tv in the background it makes those noises louder and heard during a call. I have an iphone 16 pm, but I can't honestly say I'm an apple fan. The airpod pro 2 main difference is the stuff like they can be used as hearing aids and for hearing health. I have zero interest in using an earbud for hearing health. I don't care one bit about a swipe up/down for the volume for 200$. I should've mentioned that I typically always wear one airpod pro, so I can hear my environment. I don't like noise cancellation mode in earbuds bc it makes me feel cutoff from my environment and I get anxious wondering what I'm missing

Honestly you may have just had bad luck with them - I have AirPod pros 2 and they work incredibly well. No concerns with volume, and the mic picks out the voice well and keeps out a lot of background noise to make it be somewhat more longer lasting be sure to get the Apple care plan, or since it sounds like you’re steering away from apple then I’d suggest whatever company’s care plan. At worst you pay a small amount and never use it, but once things start going awry (as long as it’s not from user-related things like dropping them or going thru the laundry) then you should be able to get them fixed

Hello friends! I am new to the Steam Deck OLED family (I got very lucky and found a mint condition special edition on Marketplace [the smoke gray and orange one] and I absolutely love it)! Ok so - here’s the situation ~ I tried using my USB-C AirPods Pro 2 and while they worked well, they disconnected often. I think they kept trying to reconnect to my iPad/iPhone and it was just disconnecting over and over. In any event, I ordered the SteelSeries Arctis Gamebuds (the white ones for PS5 and PC). I like them, but at the same time they are complicated for no reason. They aren’t plug and play - they require the app to set up and then they “kind of” work (?). When I was playing Final Fantasy XIV and using Discord on the deck, they worked fine - sounded great actually. That said, I think Discord defaulted to the mic built in to the deck. Either way, they worked. I then tried them tonight with Discord and Split Fiction playing with my friend. After a false start requiring me to reboot the deck, they worked but volume was kind of quiet. The frustration is for what they cost, they should work a lot better. They should easily connect, easily switch from 2.4ghz to Bluetooth, etc., but they don’t - at all. These are NOT worth $159.99 (at least, not as far as I have seen so far). There is a firmware update available, but a subreddit I checked said do NOT update as the update apparently breaks a bunch of things and is terrible. What are your favorite wireless earbuds to use for the deck? I’m open to anything - preferably on Amazon or at Best Buy. The most plug and play, easy to use, the better :-). Thank you very much in advance for any recommendations. It’s super appreciated! :-)

Same. Gen 2 is drastically better than Gen 1. I was a hater until a friend forced me to try. The pass-through mode is nearly perfect. The only thing I don’t like is occasionally they get in a position where they kind of click or I can hear some inner mechanical knocking.

My gen 1 would run out of batteries if left out of the charger for 3-4 hours. I can leave my gen 2 by my bedside out of the charger and still put them in the next day and have at least an hour of charge. Apple’s weak spot has always been battery life and they improved it to something more in line with the status quo in gen 2

For general everyday use Airpod pro 2gen. For music and movies Perl Pros. But the software and hardware still have the same exact issues the Nura model Perls are based on had, Denon doesn't give a shit unfortunately. Zero software updates in 1 year of ownership. For everyday commuting and gym the unusual shape is a detriment. B&O EXs are outdated, they need a model refresh to compete. Jabra no longer make products for consumers, replacements and repair options will dry up soon. My personal next purchase will be AZ80 or 100, depending on what deal I can get when the time comes for my next trip to e-earphone in tokyo. Honorable mentions are nothing ear 3, oneplus buds pro 2 (bass thumpy) and anker liberty 4 nc (the nc model has better anc than the newer pro 4.)

There's no such thing as "best" - there is only the best for each particular person. Everyone likes different things, so this is really a useless question. You get a bunch of replies that say a certain brand or model which tells you nothing. I have both Sony WF-1000XM5 and AirPods Pro 2nd gen. I use them both almost every day for different reasons. Neither is "better" than the other which is why I keep both of them. I have also listened to Bose QC Ultra and for the couple minutes I played with them, I thought they sounded good and that the ANC was excellent (was in a loud pub). I want to get those for myself and spend more time with them. I prefer the sound of my Sony XM5's over all three, but I did not like them at all until I switched to silicone tips. At the same time, the Sony's are not great for running or excercise for me because I hear "thump thump thump" in my ears from my feet, but I do not get this with the AirPods for example. So many different elements to consider, which makes it hard to choose. It is almost as if learning more makes it even harder.

There isn't a "best" though - so unfortunately it is not so simple. Every headphone is different in the way it fits and the way it sounds as well as other things like features, controls, apps. Some people like one thing, someone else likes another. So it can be quite difficult. It is even harder with IEMs because some places do not allow returns. I am sure this is different around the world - but I am in Sweden and everywhere I went said no returns unless there is a failure, so I had to just buy the ones I wanted and hope for the best. I would also like to try the Sennheiser TW 4 and the Bose QC Ultra, but did not feel like buying all of them. I have the Sony WF-1000XM5's and I do like them, but I did not like them with the stock/factory tips. For me personally, they work a lot better with silicone tips. In my opinion, they sound fantastic and the ANC is adequate - but I also have AirPods Pro 2 and the ANC is significantly better on those (I know you did not mention those but those are the only other earbuds I have). I really like the Sony's though. They also work very well with calls. Not so great for exercise. Never tried the others you mention.

I have both APP2 and Sony WF-1000XM5. I keep them both because they both have their strengths and I can't choose just one. If I were forced to choose one, it would be the APP2. This is because they have the best ANC of any earbud I have used and they actually compete with my over-ear ANC headphones; they are THAT good in my experience. The Sony WF-1000XM5 sound is more exciting and engaging for me though and this is why I keep them. They are also very tiny and hide well when wearing a beanie or jacket. But they sound so good sometimes I use them around my home or just sitting listening when usually I would use some over-ears and a DAC/Amp. The EQ in the app is great and helps you tailor the sound to your specific preference. Things I like about the XM5 sound are primarily: deep, punchy bass which is adjustable, crisp clear highs, great separation and imaging - all of this is surprising for a mainstream Bluetooth earbud. Downsides of the XM5's for me: I had trouble with the factory tips and did not like them at all. I was almost not going to keep the headphones because of this but found that I could use some spare silicone tips from my previous RHA headphones. These are similar to SpinFit - just a standard silicone tip. These work a lot better for me personally - better seal, better sound, better fit and easier to keep clean. Next is that foot-strike sounds are transferred directly to my ears. So, walking around a store slowly - no problem, but walking fast or any sort of exercise and I hear THUMP THUMP THUMP in my ears. This is the primary reason I keep the APP2 around. Last downside of the XM5 for me is the volume control is weird: 4x taps on the RH side to go up, 4x taps on the LH side to go down. Dumb. All other controls (start/stop, next, back, and switching between ANC/Ambient) work great. Some people report sensitivity with these (controls activated accidentally with a hat or hoodie) but I have never had this happen. They are sensitive so if you touch them they will do "something" but this only happens with skin contact for me. Other strengths of the APP2 over the XM5's: they fit in my ears easier and stay there better for me even with more movement/activity. ANC is fantastic - super strong and the best I have experienced with an earbud. I did not buy the XM5's for their ANC - it was just to have another set of BT headphones for me to take out and about, so it does not bother me so much - but in my experience the XM5 ANC is not anywhere close to as effective as the APP2. APP2 sounds good but not great. I enjoy them but when I switch to the XM5, it is always better sound - which is enough for me to keep the XM5's. I can also track the APP2 if I misplace them which is why I have them in the first place. I "lost" my XM5's for a few days - turned out they were in my car on the floor in the back seat. I did not see the matte black case on my matte black floor mat and had no way to track them, so I thought they were gone. This would never happen with APP2. With regards to wired earbuds - I do this too - primarily with a FiiO BTR7 and sometimes/previously with an Audioquest DragonFly Red. It works great to be sure but there is no ANC. The problem with this is that there are a million different IEMs that you could choose from and they are all going to have a slightly different sound signature. There is no real way to recommend these because it is an incredibly personal thing. I use RHA T20's for this purpose and they sound fantastic to me - but I am 100% sure there are some out there I might like more. Just have not listened to them, and after using them back to back on the train a while back - the Sony XM5's sound so good and are so convenient/easy that I just stopped using the wired IEMs on trips outside of my home. If you are going to use wired IEMs on the go and you like Bluetooth, the FiiO BTR7 is a fantastic device. There are newer versions, but I think functionality is largely the same. Great power, option to run balanced, great and functional EQ (very adjustable and both simple/complex modes depending on how silly you want to get) and seamless operation for me with regards to Bluetooth - can adjust the volume from my phone or watch the same exact way I do with the XM5's or APP2. I'd like to try Sennheiser TW Momentum 4's and Bose QC Ultra but have not primarily because I just don't want to buy loads of Bluetooth IEMs.

I bought WF-XM4 as soon as they were out and 1.8 year later bumped into same issue. Sent it to service centre, replaced the battery (Right earbud) and came back took almost 2 months, the day they came back warranty period was over. Worst part was, the very next week Left one started to die under 30min. This was infuriating. Now I've been using Ap Pro 2 for almost an year- LOVE THEM. Yes they do not give you the oomph and bass of Sony's. They are very light, no ear fatigue, ANC is on par with XM5 ( i tried them ) . I ware them to the gym, walks, work - battery life is great. They are just reliable. Sound is surprisingly VERY GOOD for the size, no distortion on highs, lows and mids are spot on. Sounds - Great (not too bass heavy) Fit good - you get 4 tips to play around Reliably battery and connectivity

OK. I hate apple. My kids begged for phones when we got them phones, and part of that is needing to monitor their usage, which requires an apple device. I didn't really want a tablet at that time and I needed a phone so I got an phone 14pm. So. I loved my android phone and me husband's 25 is pretty darn slick. I tried a bunch of earphones/buds. I have a pair of pro 2s and they are the best of the bunch with the 14pm. If I had a Samsung there's a few gas are pretty good but none. The bose were super comfortable. I do like his Samsung buds, although they are a few gens old now so I'm not going to speak to their noise canceling. I get weirdness from most noise canceling tech. The pro 2 does not make me nauseous, or dizzy. I do get some vertigo if I remove one from my head, but it usually is short lived. So I'd definitely go with the airpods.

If you can, just order them, check and return (in my jurisdiction, you cannot return earbuds because these are considered 'personal' products, but you can return overears). Nothing replaces your own feelings & tests. AirPods Pro 2 are actually great. Custom foam pads slightly reduce NC but makes them more comfortable. Cannot speak for any other earbuds. As for overears, Sony WH-1000XM4 are great but have a strong clamping force and disturbing white noise (I can hear it, others cannot, check it yourself). XM5 are lighter and more comfy, no white noise, but every other day somebody posts their broken hinges on r/headphones Don't have any other personal experience. Check also [rtings.com](http://rtings.com), they are great.

The AirPods Pro 2 are the set to have. I have mixed music for years and these earbuds are the most "accurate" and "quality sound" for non mixing earbuds on the market. I can run a mix through them and have to make only minimal adjustments to the mix because what you hear is generally what you'll hear on all other devices (that's "accuracy"). In turn their "quality" is outstanding across the frequency bands and deliver an almost untouchable sound. The Bose and Samsungs sound good but are not very accurate. What you hear in their buds are not quite the same as what you'll hear in the car.

u/ChiefValour and u/MaaiDiqSoHyuj there is a loophole . airpod's extended warrenty costs 3k rupees. and it has battery replacements included , since airpod's battery cannot be replaced , they swap the entire unit for a new one for free . Airpods have tiny battery , so within 5-6 months they degrade to 70-80% of initial battery health. toh you can go and get then replaced every 7-8 months. Look. I had a big concern of whether to upgrade to the AirPods Pro 2 or the AirPods 4 having owned the AirPods Pro 1 for a long time. The AirPods Pro 1 are a very good AirPods but my seller asked me to just test the AirPods Pro 2s and if I did not like then I could return. We did a bet. Results: The transparency mode on the AirPods Pro 2 is miles….miles …..miles better than the AirPods Pro 1s. For get noise cancelation. These AirPods Pro 2 sit on my ears like I am wearing nothing. Another thing. When I was wearing the AirPods Pro 1 with the transparency set in accommodation mode I would bang the car door and want to remove the AirPods. The bang was so loud because of the sensitivity. The AirPods Pro 2s removes that completely. Finally the hissing that came with transparency is gone. In short. AirPods Pro 2s are far ….far better than the AirPods Pro 1s. As for the AirPods 4s what I hear is the noise cancellation is not as good as the AirPods Pro 2s. Of course this is the case because they have no proper seal the the ANC algorithm keeps having to work hard to compensate.

I was having buyers remorse from purchasing them from Amazon because I already have the AirPod pros, but this post made me excited for them. I’ve had my AirPod pros since 2021 and I have definitely noticed battery degradation. The left pod also makes an odd sound unless I use both pods at the same time. That left pod also makes a weird sound to whoever I’m on the phone with, so I’m basically forced to only ever use the right pod. I also had been looking into beats or sonys for my new headphones and was a bit sad I wouldn’t be trying something “new” but that feeling is also gone because I love my AirPods. This post made me excited to receive a brand new, upgraded pair of my favorite headphones. Thanks for this write up, my buyers remorse has disappeared.

I've tried all the brands before (though not your exact models). Bose is going to have the best ANC if money is no object. Apple didn't have as good a seal or as comfortable, Sony didn't have as good anc, and sennheiser does not do good anc (though their sound is immaculate). Evrything else you can forget if you're not on a budget. Reviews that say Jabra or soundcore are as good for a lot cheaper are disingenuous - yes they can be decent on a budget, but they don't compare in terms of anc. I've tried jabra, soundcore, earfun, you name them.

They are pretty damn far behind. I've commented it elsewhere but no brand holds a candle in terms of anc to bose and Sony (and maybe Apple) earbuds. Other brands are good on a budget, but comparing them to the likes of bose is incredibly misleading. I've tried them all after reading reviews that say that they're comparable - they're not Edit: I was wrong about the Jabra. I tried it out Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 based on the comment below, and ANC is comparable (though slightly worse). I would recommend the Jabra over the Bose because of Bose's shitty software.

The XM5 I couldn’t get a good fit and certainly don’t think they will hold up well to running despite being great sound. That’s very subjective, but I always end up with my AirPods Pro 2, the whole package is just too compelling at least when you are in the apple eco system. They are like amongst the top three best anc earbuds and everything else is so fluid and reliable while the sound is solid but nothing special. My second most used earbuds are the Sony linkbuds s, which I prefer over the xm5 due to the better comfort, at least in my ears. The Bose qc (II,ultra, gen 2) are supposed to have market leading anc, but as far as I tested them, the connection wasn’t reliable enough and there was too much white noise for my taste. And the cases are too bulky for me to carry them always in my pocket - I don’t use what I don’t have at hand anytime. I wish there was something more exciting than the AirPods, but nothing could beat them for me for longer than a week so far. I don’t have tested many over ears, I own the xm4 and the Bose quiet comfort 45. Both are supposed to be great last generation anc headphones but I don’t get more anc out of them than with my AirPods. Since these are way more convenient, I usually don’t come up using overears. When I sit down in order to listen to music concentrated I use my sennheisers or betweens and so on, but that happens very rarely. 99% of the time I use my AirPods especially while commuting, when reliability is key and I want to make sure that a during a long day out of the house my earbuds won’t let me down.

It’s important you buy from a retailer with good return policies, because earbuds are incredibly subjective. You need to wear them for a while and you have no risk then. If you can tolerate the foam tips, the wf1000xm5 are great earbuds with one of the most effective anc and fantastic sound, IF… you have to try it yourself. Keeping AirPods up to date with a MacBook should work, I never tried it myself because they date up clandestinely in the background when connected to my iPhone. There are new Sonys about to be released later this month, the linkbuds fit, but there is no review so far so we can’t tell about their quality. Since I like the linkbuds s a lot, I am very interested in these.

So I need a new pair of earbuds. I used the AirPods Pro 2nd gen for years and the battery started to die. I bought a brand new pair of the EXACT same ones and they stopped working a month in. The Denon Perl Pro are the sleeper though, they look bizarre, but once you run the tuning program they sound as good if not better than the others. Haven’t tried the Pi8’s yet, but love my Px8’s.

I’ve had experience with a few of these, and I can give you some insights based on your priorities. Here’s what I think, in terms of sound quality, Sony and Sennheiser are usually considered the best, with crisp highs and deep bass. For ANC, Sony and Bose are top-notch, but the Technics and Jabra also do well. Call quality is solid across all, but I’d give an edge to the AirPods Pro and Sony for clear, noise-canceling calls. Would love to hear what you decide!

They have a very strong marketing campaign going on but all their talking points are classic IEM noob traps like "more driver = more better" type of thing. IMO for TWS if you have Apple you get APP2. If you have Samsung, you get the Samsung Buds FE. The other option for Android is the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 with those fancy new xMEMS drivers.

This status audio is decent company their support good and very responsive. But if we talk about their product between 3anc is very powerful and detailed bud, yes triple driver makes difference in sound quality moreover, its damn so loud, ugly design understanble cuz lack of room for multiple drivets and chip, battery etc. Before try them do not underestimate . My experiences with earbuds listed below from best to good ( i never buy bad;) ) 1- noble audio fokus pro 2- final audio ze8000 mk2 3- status audio between 3ANC 4- bowers & willins pi 7 s2 5- sony wf xm5 6- B&O EX 7- apple airpods pro 2 8- beats fit pro Starus 3anc is more powerful in the list and then noble audio, both triple drivers iem tws , noble audio is more balanced detailed in vocals and sub bass, 3ANC very close to it. In term of sub bass these both are great. For soundstage and seperation final ze8000 mk2 killer, far better so status 3anc is definitely best value for the money compared to other my great buds its half of price . Give a try , if u listen espcially electonic hip Hop rap, ambient chill, lon fi. U will be amazed

The Bose have great noise canceling but have very bloated bass. You can EQ the bass down to help balance the sound more. The spatial audio on the Bose ultras works pretty well. I have AirPod Pro 2, Bose in earbuds, and Bose QCII (over ear) and all are nice (except the Bose in ear I do not like). At the gym the Bose over ear block out much more noise than the AirPod 2 Pros, however they get sweaty so I tend to use my AirPods at the gym more for that reason alone But, many times I wish I had brought my Bose (over ears) because some noise at the gym is bothering me and I can still hear it with the AirPods. They really are both amazing, I wouldn’t be able to choose between one or the other.

Had airpods 2 pro, they sounded too tinny, so i switched to the Xm4. It had great sound and terrible fit. I then switched to Linkbuds S , which fit great, but I couldn't get past the low quality sound, I then switched to the Galaxy Buds 2 pro, which fit great and had the most bass of any headphone I've ever tried, it's clear bass too. I used these for 2 years, but even with good bass, the highs and mids suffered a lot. Then I finally went back to Sony with the wf1000xm5's, which have all the bass of the buds 2 pro but with clarity in every frequency. They also fit even more secure for me than my galaxy buds 2 pro. In my opinion, it's an easy win for Sony.

AirPods Pro 2. I like them a lot for both running & lifting. And have started to use them as hearing “aids” from time to time. I think they are good at that, but not sure how they would compare to real hearing aids. I sweat a lot, so on longer runs I have had them get too wet & have difficulty hearing them. I really love them (especially with listening to music while cutting out the exterior sounds). But have looked at the Shoks open run ones this holiday season as the bone induction tech sounds cool. And since I sweat a lot, maybe they would be good for that. But I have not tried them.

Sonys have great anc and the mic cancels so much noise if you need it for that too. The Bose are too big imo but have good anc reviews. AirPod pro gen 2 are my favorite. They have very good anc but the mic is pretty bad and makes you sound artificial. The jabras (I tried the 10 and 8s both gen 2) were nice but a step below Sony and Apple to me. Didn’t try sennheiser. I was coming from jaybird gen 1 and 2 earbuds that I used for workouts. The tech has come a long way. I also have Sony overears for airplanes. Xm3. For comparison, those make the world go silent around me. Haven’t tried the newer models. Haven’t had the earbuds long enough to try those on a plane to compare.

The AirPods Pro 2 have the best mics between the three, but Sony’s are worlds better than Bose’s mics. They’re often downright unusable in some situations. Sony’s ANC is behind Bose’s due to its reliance on passive noise isolation. Use Sony’s hybrid foam/rubber ear tips and their ANC is on par with Bose’s, they just filter out different frequencies better. Sony’s ANC always did a better job for me with the lower frequencies (helped by the seal) while Bose did better with higher frequencies. I’d rather have no ANC than deal with Bose’s garbage, buggy earbuds though. Their app and firmware is so bad they contracted out to a different company for their latest $180 earbuds. They use a completely different app with more features and those earbuds have Qi charging. Why or how Bose couldn’t fit that in the QC Ultra’s abnormally large case is beyond me. Sony’s case takes up 1/2 the space and has it, Apple’s case is almost 60% smaller than Bose’s and has it.

AirPods Pro 2 are probably the best overall hence why they outsell every other bud 15 to 1. You have an effective hearing aide feature. Among the best ANC. The best transparency clarity. Controls that can control everything from one earbud. Balanced and clear sound most will love. Superb call quality with voice isolation from the H2 chip. Always listening Siri and gesture control. Find My support. The list goes on. Also, sound is subjective so whatever sounds good to you won't sound good to everyone. So saying that any earphone sounds better than AirPods Pro 2 which is your opinion is pointless.

I'm used to AirPod Pro (2nd Gen) but they are starting to fail. It's the second pair I've had that started failing after about a year. It's probably because I sleep with one in and ANC on all night, but it still feels like a premium set (or $200+ earbuds if you don't consider them premium) should be able to last longer than a year. Do you think the Bose have better build quality than airpods? What do you think is the best ANC set for <$250?

I'm honestly not sure if you can use them without the Bluetooth at least trying to locate a signal. I don't know how that works, but it'll probably be really hard to find out. What I can say is this: they can work by themselves with no phone, just for noise cancellation. You need to set it up with an apple device, but after that you can control them out of the case

Go with the Airpods. Makes also sense since she has already an iPhone and Apple earphones work perfectly within their eco system. If you want to potentially end or damage your relationship over broken overpriced audiphile earphones she does not value at all and even not wanted in the first place go with the Sennheiser MTW4.

Got the first AirPod pros. Replaced both buds because static sound. Warranty expired and they both sounded like static again. Went to Apple Store and was told “they’re really only meant to last a couple years.” Looking into the beats fit pro, but also owned by apple. I just want something good to stay in my ear and last a while since I only use them maybe 2 hours/week

If you're looking for headphones, I'd recommend Sony WH-1000XM4 or XM5. The XM5 are lighter and a bit more comfortable than the XM4 but they don't have as much Base. Sony's LDAC codec can deliver a higher bandwidth and therefore better Sound quality when listening to any High-Res music. When you're a Spotify Guy that doesn't matter as Spotify still doesn't over a CD-Quality audio. Sony's App is also one of the better ones among the headphones, the Bose app kinda sucks and ol'mate Senni also isn't quite the industry standard regarding the App situation. If you're looking for good, reliable headphones with an awesome ANC you can't go wrong with Sony. If that still doesn't fit you and you want to try some earbuds again, you could try the Air Pods Pro. I'm not an Apple fanboy but I have to say, that the Air Pods Pro are really good for regular listening and stuff. And as you're on an Android phone, you can use Wavelet to fully optimize your headphones sound to your liking.

r/oneplus • Best headphones for OnePlus 13? YouTube is about the same as Spotify as far as Sound quality goes, a bit worse. My current setup is the XM4's and AirPods Pro and I'm really happy with both of them. But as you're looking for headphones, the XM4's and XM5's are both good options and they both sound great, you'll be happy with either of them and it probably depends on which one fits the amount of money you want to spend Another guy here pointed out, that he wasn't that happy with the XM5's built quality. I was only able to use them for about a week so I can't say that much about those. I have worn my XM4's for more than 2000+ hours and just now have to change the ear pads and yeah.

Good timing on the question. all four family members in my house use Airpods. I had Gen2 Airpods up until last week when I had gotten my daughter the latest and greatest Gen4s (not the Pros and not the ones with noise cancelling) to replace her dead Gen1s. Okay, so here's the thing: 1. If you are a woman or someone with small ears, check the fit. My daughter and Wife both HATE the fit of the latest Airpods...they are apparently uncomfortable and don't fit well. However they fit me fine and are very comfortable. They also went to the Apple store to try on the Pros, and hated those even more. My wife actually gave my daughter her Gen1's to use, and now we are in search of replacements for my wife to use. 2. If fit is not the issue, then overall I like the Airpods for exercise. I run and work out with them, including with Apple Fitness. They're actually probably the best choice for AF+, because they quickly sync up to your device and/or your apple TV, and have other features like Siri integration. 3. I ended up trading in the new Gen4s to get the version WITH noise cancellation. I'm not sure how much of a fan I am of it. When ANC kicks on, if I don't have anything playing currently it feels like someone put my head inside a soundproof balloon. Also, while ANC works quite well, the tech is somewhat "reactive". The best example of this is when I tried them out while using a nail gun. The did nothing to cancel the sound of the shot from the gun, because it's an instantaneous, quick sound. They do, however, cancel out (mostly) the sound of the compressor. Overall, if they fit well I highly recommend them for exercise.

i have been rocking them since there release however I have always had terrible experience with the microphone, sound quality is good for ear buds for sure but nothing out of the world, a 60$ noise cancelling over the ear headphone easily outperforms airpods, but can not give you the portability and the apple experience.

Hello, MTW1 user here. Mine are still working after 5 or 6 years. The short of it, they sound great and connect quickly to my iPhone, but that’s where it ends. I put up with the shortcomings for a long time and the subsequent models supposedly didn’t sound as good or had QC problems of their own. Firmware updates take an astonishing amount of time (up to an hour), the battery case discharges itself and the earbuds after sitting standby for a few days (so it’s out of charge when you go to listen to them at work or on a commute), and the touch controls are finicky. I continued to use them because they sounded so good, but I bought a pair of AirPod Pros on sale last year and they really are the best for an Apple user. The sound isn’t quite as warm as the Sennheiser, but they do have a nice punchy bass and sound signature that will please most people. The noise canceling is top notch (it actually surprised me the first time I put them on), they hold their charge for weeks, the case is smaller and fits in pockets and purses easier (great consideration for a girlfriend), they work with Macs and Apple TVs (the Spatial Audio on the Apple TV is really neat, sounds like you have speakers in your room). As much as I love Sennheiser, just go with AirPod Pros and you’ll have no regrets.

Out of all flagship 15 pairs of earbuds from major brands I've owned and others I've tried. The Soundcore Liberty 4 has been the best sounding for me so far. With the flagship Sennheiser at second place. But for best transparency mode I'd say the airpods (horrible sound quality). And best ANC goes to the Bose imo.

Oh those, I sold my AirPod pros right away. They’re not AirPod pro sound quality, but they’re still good. Problem with the early stuff is they are REALLY sensitive to all the settings on iPhone and Apple CRANKS everything out of the box. I had to let them update, find and turn off every single feature, redo all my assistive hearing, personalized Spatial Audio, just redo it all from the ground up and slowly turn on the settings that worked for me. They work great now. But it was a pain to get started on them. Good for working out and the ANC is still quite good. Again, not APP2 good, but still plenty for me. They sound awful out of the box, but they update and tweak nicely after a day or two.

I loved my Beats Powerbeats pro. They did not come off when I did HIIT/yoga/weight training, jogging. They also did not give me ear fatigue after 1hr+. I lost the left side down the drain so I had to get something else. If Beats Fit Pro don’t hurt your ears after wearing them for a long period of time, I’d say that’s the best option. They hurt my ears so I went with the AirPod pro and they do fall off once in a while even when I do yoga.

I’ve tried AirPods Pro and though they have great sound, they tend to fall out of my right ear only! So annoying! I tried the beats fit pro and those seem to be the perfect fit and also have a long enough battery for marathon distances. Also, the noise cancellation is just good enough to allow me to hear my music better, but not too much that it makes running outdoors dangerous. Airpod Pros with [these aftermarket foam tips](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088KQKYSC?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1) are by a huge margin the best running headphones I have ever used. I actually can't believe how seamlessly well they work, every day, without fail. That sounds interesting. I don’t wear my AirPods Pro when running because of a thumping noise that I hear with each step, along with wind noise if there is any. Using smaller tips helps, but then they are at risk of falling out. Where did you pick up your ear hooks from then? And do you use a smaller tip than usual when running, or just keep your usual AirPods tips and don’t have them in your ear all the way?

For living room I have a decent thrift store setup: quad with those Polk bookshelves for the front, some random Bose for the back, high up because I like entertaining and ppl being able to talk with music a bit cranked. A random huge sub that I found on the street. In kitchen I have two flat styrofoam panels on the ceiling that I put exciters on so some of that sweet musica is in there while I’m cooking.

I have Airpod Pros, and Bose QC Ultras which are headphones. They both have their perks. First off if your an iphone user airpods are a no brainer for every day use. Airpods are great for numbing the sound of traffic or an airplane. They aren't perfect but they do the trick for most cases. The battery on the AirPods are pretty good, they will last for 3-4 hours with noise cancellation on. And you get the charging case that charges them up pretty quick. The QC Ultras are a bit of a beast. I wear them cutting my lawn and they drown out the lawnmower sound with no issues. If they weren't so bulky they would be a great everyday headphone. The battery in the ultras is vary good too. Never have an issue with them dying while using them on full noise cancelation for the day. When they do die there is no fast solution for charging like the AirPods unfortunately. Those are my top two picks. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but they work well as a combo!

This is marketing and brand reach doing what it does best. There are plenty of brands doing great things in the market that aren't getting a lot of attention. JLAB's Epic Lab earbuds were fantastic; JBL, Moondrop, Nothing Ear, SoundPeats, numerous other brands tested very well against the top of my list, which consisted of the Denon Perl Pro, Technics AZ80, Sennheiser True Wireless Momentum 4, Sony XM5, AirPods Pro, B&W Pi7 S2 and Pi8. I have the AZ100s on the way, and I'm sure they'll occupy one of those top spots. It's important to note, however, that many of these brands do not need to push as many units to remain successful. At the economies of scale companies like Sony, Sennheiser, and Bose are operating at, the investment into their production, distribution, customer service, and operations pipelines is immense. They are likely expecting to sell tens of thousands of units, to the thousands that other brands need to turn a profit. And while you may see those more prolific brands everywhere, don't forget the communities of people on social media platforms that regularly market and recommend the opposing brands. They're not as common, but that's to be expected and will remain that way by nature. In other words, while the popular brands may be ubiquitous, that is by design. It doesn't mean opposing manufacturers are on a downward trajectory. This was the assumption when Jabra cancelled its TWS ANC lineup, and that may have been part of the decision, but Jabra had other, more profitable interests and chose to constrain their business goals around those interests because there was more opportunity there. As someone that's tested dozens of ANC earbuds (and has a wide ranging collection of dedicated, wired IEMs), I have very few biases when it comes to competing brands. If it works well, I'll use the thing. I have no qualms recommending a pair of Soundcore VR P10s, right alongside top-tier TWS sets if I think it fits the individual's use case. Recently, I took a long flight overseas and left all the other major TWS brands behind and took a cheap pair of PortaPros and a $20 pair of Aliexpress stem-style earbuds with me. Everyone else on the plane was wearing AirPods.

One thing that gets asked a lot in the motorcycle subs is … do noise cancelling in-ear headphones offer protection against the noises that riders wear earplugs for? My assumption has been that my AirPods Pro offer the same protection as ear plugs when NR is turned on, but lots of people disagree, saying it doesn’t offer any real protection. I have not yet found a definitive proof for this either way, in spite of hearing figures like -27dB bandied about.

Having said that, for the first time in like 10+ races that I did in AirPods, one fell off when I was trying to adjust it. I managed to recover it without a problem, but I imagine I could 1) annoy a lot of people or even injure someone, when I would stop suddenly in a more crowded place, 2) lose/get AirPod destroyed, 3) get myself strained with a sudden different move. It was on 30k, the crowd was lose and I surprisingly didn't feel any drop in form after this, but it was a bad moment.

RP4P, I use AirPod Pros. No complaints. Pull down the menu, enable Bluetooth and they connect. They are really great for transitioning between devices because I have an iMac, iPad, iPhone and they detect and swap between those devices if you have them out while a device is playing audio. I just disable BT on the handheld until I need them to prevent any Android hiccups.

I paired them with it once, and they pair whenever I prompt them to now. I’m usually only using my apple device or the handheld, so maybe that’s less complicating for them? They work fine, and I just turn the device BT off when I’m not using them and I have had zero issues since I got the RP4P (pre5, maybe 6-8 months ago). Ninja edit: I see how my previous comment is confusing. I don’t try to swap between devices while gaming. I just talk up that feature because every other pair of BT headphones I have ever had was a pain to swap between devices.

AirPods Pro have served me well. Music sounds great and they stay in. Wear all year round (today under a really warm hat as it’s 0F here). Thought about Shokz but reviews suggest the audio is very disappointing compared to the AirPods Pro so I’ll stick with these.

I would vote Shokz for safety but I had two pairs of shokz die on me, they were replaced by the company within warranty and the third pair arrived dead, I just gave up. It’s a shame because I really enjoyed them. I ran with AirPod pros for a while, and they are ok but I run on a lot of roads with no sidewalk so ultimately I just switched to not listening to music when running.

I just use AirPods. Mine are a few years old, so the battery is starting to give way, but they charge super quickly. Whenever I get up from my desk for a few minutes I put them in the case and that's generally enough to get me to late in the evening. By that point I don't mind losing them for 20 minutes for a longer charge since the office is quiet anyway.

There are other buds out there that sounds good like the Bose QC and QC ultra. Sennheiser Momentum. So many out there for audiophile. If you want to stay with Apple, I can tell you that Pro 2 is night and day different from pro 1. I just upgraded to pro 2 and gave my pro 1 to my daughter. The pro 2 has much punchier bass and other cool functions. I’ve noticed that I have to keep pro 2 at 60% to have the same loudness of the pro 1 at 80%.

So nowadays I actually use Airpods Pro which is in-ear. But for running I put on an over ear hook that makes it stay in place and I can let it sit a bit looser so it’s not fully in my ear canal. Then I don’t hear the vibrations from running and hear more from the surroundings to get more awareness. There are other sport purpose built headphones that already have an ear hook built in. But outside running I prefer the Airpods Pro in-ear sound quality (and take off the ear hook). Thanks to using the ear hook in training the Airpods Pro is the overall winner for me and my use cases.

That thumping noise was driving me crazy and the reason why I got ear hooks in the first place. I use the same tip size and just let it not be deep in the ear. Haven’t tried smaller but I think it could work well. Any of these two ear hooks are good. I got both because I wanted to try them. - [WC hookz](https://a.co/d/cx2ZbJa) - [Elago](https://a.co/d/fJZBvJJ)

With the pro 2 being cheaper than all it's rivals right now I think I'm going to snag them, even though my phone is android and I won't get the full audio quality. My AirPods Pro are mostly fine, but have fallen out once or twice. I used to own some PowerBeats Pro, and those are the most secure ones that I've ever owned (although I think Apple has stopped manufacturing them?). Shokz will get a lot of votes here as well. I don't like them myself - I find don't care for the sound quality. But they are a great choice if sound quality is not a primary concern.

Honestly one of the best things I’ve ever bought, makes running any open station tractor 10x more bare able.

Sir i have used cmf buds 2 pro and found them very close to apple AirPods pro 1st gen. I have been using apple AirPods for 3-4 years now, but now the battery & sound quality have degraded massively. I bought cmf buds 2 pro and i am happy to report that they have really good sound quality, clarity and warm profile like the AirPods pro and plus is that cmfs have punchy bass. Talking of call quality: they work flawless indoors. Outdoors they are just fine but get the job done. They also have app on both platforms. Well i also have used my cousins Anker liberty 4Nc and found them not so clear and differentiating in instruments like cmfs do. But ANC was so superior.

Been over 6 months now no complaints so far. Yes the ANC is not that great but works although transparency is good. One more thing that needs to be addressed is the design they’re really comfortable to wear but gets uncomfortable while lying in bed on sides as they protrude more than airpods. When it comes to sound you can turn on dirac opteo which drastically improves clarity and details in sound.

Oh most important thing use 5v 1A charger for your earbuds. Although i feel theres no point as electrical devices now can automatically adjust voltage amps according to their needs but i have been using 30W adapter for my airpods pro and i feel that somehow did affect its battery life (case’s) i started to get less charging hours. I am also charging cmf with same 30w adapter and now i am thinking to switch to 5W

I'll add to other commenters and say that I've been a huge fan of the Wirecutter for a while now. Thank you for the work you and your colleagues do. The biggest issue I still have with earbuds is it seems like none I've tried can touch Apple's Airpods Pro for passthrough audio or even being smart about when to switch to passthrough automatically. Have you tried any which come close and does it seem like they're getting better? I love noise cancellation but I feel like my life is busy enough that I have to keep taking a bud out to hear someone.

I would say airpods pro but only if you want it to start to randomly disconnect after about a year. I know apple has been sued before for basically forcing their products to die early so you buy new ones and I'm not saying that is occurring but it's odd, there is a rather large subset of airpods pro users who report that after owning them for some time they begin to disconnect randomly. I work in the same office 7 days a week, and for the first year they were absolutely incredible, but now they just disconnect and then reconnect randomly. And NO restarting your iphone or any of the BS Apple tells you does not work. It is just a feature of my airpods pro now. It's infuriating especially knowing that the likely outcome is I will end up buying another set for 250 bucks. Apple knows that. So I dont know but do a search on it and read about it because it is VERY strange. I sit in the same seat in the same office every day for the past 10 years so this shouldn't be happening. Does it sometimes 2 or 3 times a minute and then other times once every 15 minutes. I love Apple products but these are a nightmare.

This sub has an anti apple bias and is full of other brands shills spouting inaccurate information people here like to repeat. I speak from your personal experience, the TWS3 are terrible, puting aside sound quality which is totally meh, its design is so bulky that they fall out your ear at any physical activity, and forget about going to bed with them. The ANC is terrible too. So there is no contest between them and the airpods pro, not even close.

The Buds Pro series actually deliver a really good sound profile (https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/samsung/galaxy-buds2-pro-true-wireless), as does the Air Pods Pro. Both have similar overall decent quality for their price ranges and can deliver a nice, punchy sound in a small package that isn't super expensive. They aren't cheap, but you know... Right in that regular consumer price range. I switch back and forth between Buds 2 Pro and some KZ Castor wired IEM's when I am exercising or outdoors. Each do things differently, mostly the lossiness of BT is very obvious over Tidal HiFi, as where the IEMs sound a bit cleaner. But when I want a pair of no-frill, good-sounding, relatively neutral buds that can deliver accurate-enough music? Buds 2 Pro. My original Buds Pro also lasted almost 3 years, but one fell off down a sewer drain. RIP.
