I have a Dreame X40 Pro Ultra. It purports to have this feature, but I've never tested it since I have a cat that goes in its litter box.

We love this thing otherwise. It works great. Got it for about $1600 during a sale. It's still expensive of course, but for our house totally worth it. Never vacuum and mop by hand anymore!

One more thing... On pretty much any of these units, you can designate certain areas to avoid completely. If the dog accidents are always near the pads, you could just designate that whole area off-limits to the vac.

A couple comments. I have the X40 pro Ultra and can say that the lifting/lowering lidar is a big deal to me. It can now get under all the furniture in my house to vac and mop. The dual roller design of the x40 pro ultra is different and is the same as the top Roborock - it is the best I have had for carpets and much better than the single brush too. I noticed that you had all rubber brushes which are not as good on carpet as bristle. You can get a rubber /bristle combo for the vac ( if it wasn't already included) which will improve carpet cleaning performance significantly.

Narwal Freo Z Ultra is the best robot mop but an ok vacuum. It does not have an internal water tank so this means it’ll have to frequently go back to the station to rewet its mops. This shouldn’t be a problem if your house isn’t very big. If it is, consider the other two models with an internal water tank. I’ve also heard mixed reviews about NarWal’s customer service. As for the app, I’m not so sure but I think it’s on par with the other brands (please correct me if I’m wrong). As the robot’s home is behind furniture, I’d recommend a model that has a self cleaning base station. Narwal doesn’t have this but I believe the next two models do. Dreame’s L/X40 has similar computer vision smarts and can extend and swing its extended mop under areas like the fridge where stains tend to accumulate with better vacuuming performance than the Freo Z. There’s currently no other model in the international market that can do this (NarWal’s 001 Max is still only available in mainland China). I’ve heard mixed reactions when it comes to its international customer service. The app is feature rich but means the UI will be more complicated. The QRevo Curv/Edge can also be considered but won’t have as amazing computer vision smarts as the previous two models. However, I heard the app has the best UI and that customer service can be mixed.

Dreame/MOVA models with an RGB camera and Narwal camera enabled models are best at obstacle avoidance. As for hair: dreame/MOVA models with the TriCut brush will do just fine with human hair and pet fur. For longer hair, I’d look at the dreame L/X40 and newer (MOVA P10 Pro Ultra and newer) as the new side brush design is more tangle resistant compared to the previous one. If your pet sheds a lot, I’d recommend the Dreame x50 ultra as it can compress fur in its dustbin as it vacuums. Narwal’s Freo Z Ultra is a good choice for hair and fur too. It has great obstacle avoidance and will have the best smart cleaning program. There is also the LDS-only Freo Z10 which will be able to mop closer to edges and untangle any tangled hair on its side brushes These models all are combo models that mop much better than a swiffer. Upcoming models that will mop better than the previous models: MOVA Z50 Ultra and the Narwal Flow.

It depends on tall your thresholds are: For single thresholds: Up to 2cm: most modern robots can cross with no difficulty Up to 2.2cm: Dreame L/X40 Ultra. The dreame models with the EasyLeap wheels (L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra and the L50 Ultra) can cross the first threshold up to 2.2cm and a secondary threshold right after up to 1.8cm Up to 3cm: roborock models with the AdaptLift chassis. It can cross a single threshold up to 3cm and a secondary threshold right after up to 1cm. Up to 3.5cm: the MOVA P60 Pro Ultra (mainland china only for now) has active suspension like the roborock Adaptlift chassis and the EasyLeap edge climbing wheels to climb a single threshold up to 3.5cm and a secondary threshold up to 3.5cm. Up to 4.2cm: Dreame X50 Ultra, Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track, and the MOVA V50 Ultra all can cross a single threshold up to 4.2cm if the threshold is shorter than 9-10cm (5.2cm if the threshold is sufficiently long enough) and a secondary threshold up to 1.8cm.

The X40 and L40 are essentially the same. I think the lower rating for the X40’s navigation is due to older firmware and the L40’s firmware is more polished. Just choose whichever model is cheaper. My TriCut brush works as advertised, no hair or fur tangles around it. The S8MaxV’s rollers are more prone to getting fur stuck on the sides and their navigation and obstacle avoidance isn’t as good as Dreame’s.

The best self cleaning models can also clean the base station’s mop washboard and the vacuum’s filter. I’d recommend these ones which can do this: Currently the best at self cleaning: the MOVA V50 Ultra can dry it’s dustbin and dustbag to prevent mildew unlike the other choices which brings it above the other robots Almost there: Dreame L/X50 Ultra, L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra In the middle: MOVA P50 Pro Ultra Pretty okay at self cleaning: MOVA P10 Pro Ultra, Dreame L/X40, roborock models with the motorized scrapers, Narwal models with an all in one base station.

I have tile floors and use an X40 master on the highest water setting and don't experience any streaking that I have noticed. Measuring mop effectiveness is no doubt challenging but if your floor doesn't streak then high water usage isn't really a penalty and actually is a good thing since it cleans much better.

Yeah - I would have probably got a e25/28 if it had plumbing, but got the x40 master for 900 - loving it. Though Dreame/Mova also has a heated roller model coming out this year so it will be a toss up for next one.

I'll note I was going to get the Mova P10 myself but after adding in the plumbing kit(since I cannot get the cheaper version in US from aliexpress) - they're nearly the same price(X40 Master & P10) and the master has plumbing built in, so smaller base station from the get go, leave mops behind, and shorter robot(can it retract the lidar?), and more battery life, at cost of midly less suction. Which in theory should help a bit to make up for carpet vacuuming.(swapping mops out)

Also worth mentioning that if you want auto plumbing(empty/refill) the dreame x40 master is a good one, or do the mova p10 and buy the kit for a bit less. I went with the master for the smaller dock and a couple of random enhancements that are ultimately pretty small.

FWIW X40(not even latest/greatest) spinning mop got 3.76 mopping on vacuumwars, where saros 10 got 3.38 for mopping, so even the 'latest greatest' vibrating doesn't beat last gen spinning. Not sure what 'proved' what you are saying.

I have an X40 Master and would not want to go back to filling and emptying water tanks. I have a lot of floor area so depending on how much water I set my earlier model robot to use, it could run out before the clean is finished. The X40 Master solves that problem completely. I change my mop pads weekly with a fresh set and look the robot over for any hair build up. X40 master is on sale right now super cheap for $1050. That’s a smoking deal.

I just got an eBay refurbished X40 Ultra. It has been great so far. But I don’t think any robot vacuum can truly replace a handheld vacuum/mop. I tend to think of these as a nice maintenance option to keep the dust bunnies and grime down. But I will still be doing semi regular vacuuming and mopping by hand.

Do you have the tri-cut brush? Mine has it (X40 Ultra) works great for cutting up the long loose hair (mine) so it doesn’t get wrapped around the brush. I also clean/maintain my robot every week or two as I discovered a lot of gunky build up on the brush and on the robot under the brush. It was affecting how well it cleaned. It took me 2 hours to get it all cleaned. I was putting a cap of Dreame floor cleaner in the water tank in addition to what’s in the dock’s tank - big mistake. That, and me not knowing the build up was there, is what caused the gunk to build up. My dog (Standard Schnauzer) sheds a little but her hair mainly gets built up in the mop base. I now have the robot vacuum first, then go back and mop. I think that’s helping too. It runs 6 times a week. It does half the house 3 days a week and the other half another 3 days. Sometimes I just have it vacuum only. Also, clean the mop dock every week. Guide is in the app. Dreame is different than Roomba in that you have to set how often you want it to empty its bin. Mine empties after every room.

I got it and if the price is close I would easily get it over the L20. Right now it’s out of stock on US Amazon, but if I comes back in stock at a price anywhere near the L20 I would pick the Mova. Just make sure it’s the P10 PRO Ultra as it’s very different from the P10 Ultra. If the Mova came back in stock at the same price I bought mine, I would probably return my X40 and get another Mova.

From my experience. Roborock Q8 very good for the price, S7 Maxv little better than S8, both great, Dreame L10S Pro as great. The newer more expensive stuff is even little better like X40 Ultra, but it has the docks.. I am often surprised, and offended at how much difference there is in premium robots (which is what I tend to test, rather than budget or midrange). You should expect, if you pay that much, for a robot to work. This problem is much worse in lawnbots, but there is no condition under which I would purchase a Roomba or Eufy on purpose. Doesn't matter what model. I'm most impressed by Roborock, Dreame and Ecovacs. That said, each model is different. For instance, I thought the X40 was just fine. Didn't blow me out of the water. But I think the X50 is quite good, although it still has some navigation issues. I haven't tested the Monsga line, sorry.

I really appreciate the thorough response man, truly. I hope you never need customer service 💪🏽 and it seems to be a global thing with Dreame, as the complaints go from country to country as I hear them... I just really hope to never need them. And tbh, in my country they didn't bring the Saros 10R, only the 10, so I wasn't so keen in getting it with the vibrating moppad.. Also the retractable Lidar that has expiry times-of-use threw me off a little.. So I ended up considering either another X40 or Ecovacs x8 for the roller-mop, but ecovacs' last release here got destroyed in reviews, and so I just decided to go with what I know (and love, for now lol

Corners have been pretty good for me, but they’re doing frequent firmware updates so it’s hard to say how it’ll end up when they release the next big update scheduled for July 10th (Eufy told me this directly). I’m currently on a beta version which lets it get a bit closer than the initial firmware did and it’s been getting very close to edges and right up into the corners. I think the X40 would still beat it for corner cleanup though since it has a brush that’s purpose built for that. Do you mostly have hard floors though? If so I’d still recommend the S1 over the X40 and many people in the S1 discord server have mentioned they returned their X40’s because they didn’t find it to clean any better than the S1. Two people even mentioned that the ozone generation in the S1 has proven more effective for cleaning/sanitizing than the X40’s hot water washing. It’s completely anecdotal, but take that for what you will.

Look into roller mop devices. Also do care about things that are dropped on the floor. I have the Dreame X40, cleaning is overall good but stains are a hit and miss. Candy or other sticky stuff is no go, like 0 chance of proper cleaning. You should be better with a roller mop because it cleans the mop constantly. Obstacle avoidance is critical for things like pens, crayons, toys. Here Dreame is good but not perfect. I had several pencils caught in the inlet. I have the X40 and i agree, the TriCut brush does make a big difference. Plus I like the extending mops and robo swing tech to go under the low hanging places like this -> [https://youtube.com/shorts/Nwas4UMqNBo](https://youtube.com/shorts/Nwas4UMqNBo) Again, I still feel, any robot vacuum is not a 100% replacement for manual deep clean.. Example, corners and sides etc. (even with the extendible side brushes -> [https://youtube.com/shorts/L8BG\_fKbz0E](https://youtube.com/shorts/L8BG_fKbz0E) ) sometimes leave a little dust/debris time to time, or right at the edges of the rugs etc., Just gets the everyday cleaning chores a little easier. Still a + in my books.. X40 Object avoidance is great.. Have seen roborocks tangle with cables in almost all reviews but yet to find mine do the same.. And now with Black friday deals going on, its listed for less than the L40 on Amazon (in US at least). More suction power, bigger battery power and i guess 1 extra laser on the front for less.. thats a good deal. only thing missing/lacking vs the L40 is i guess the voice command, which are again going to be hit or miss anyways. I have scheduled my unit to run everyday before we wake up so dont need that gimmick as such. Plus it has "works with Alexa" but i hardly use it.. Just my 2 cents. :).. Good luck finding your product.

Out of the two Dreame models you asked about, I'd go with the X50 if its superior vacuuming and fur cleaning you're looking for. It will have duo brushes to agitate and pick up better when vacuuming and better overall suction to pick up more debris on a single pass through. X40 isn't a bad machine at all, but for medium carpets with dog fur shedding, I'd go X50 and be happy with the purchase the first time around rather than wishing I had went with the other model. The Mova will be similar in terms of build to the X40 so I wouldn't go that route, plus they get you 3 years of warranty versus 5 yrs on the Dreame. Roborock will be the next best one when comparing it to the X50, they'll have similar sensors for objects and quality of life features such as voice control and self cleaning, the Roborock just costs a bit more but will be similar overall, so if it were me choosing between the 4 models, X50 is an easy choice. Hope this helps, Happy Hunting!

Guess why -- because I don't need the OA. The bumper does the job, better than some might imagine.

Coming from Roborock, which in my view has awful customer service, to Dreame, I was really concerned about an even worse experience based on forum feedback from owners. Maybe I'll regret it in the future, but so far my X40 Master has been out of sight, and out of mind. Everything stays clean (two dogs and a dog door, hardwood flooring), and the dock has an unlimited supply of water through our plumbing. The X50 Master doesn't seem to be available in North America yet, but I can't say enough good things about the X40 Master. I bought it and a Roborock S8 Maxv Ultra with the drainage:refill dock, and returned the Roborock after trying both. At CES 2025, Dreame did show off a fancy dock that can store and swap multiple sets of mop pads. That's really the only thing I'd love more at this point (I could go months and months without ever fiddling with the robot).

I would just get a dreame X40 or Mova P10 Pro ultra and then you won't have to tidy up at all since they have they best object avoidance while having great vacuum and mopping performance. Makes it easy to run the vacuum on a daily schedule when you can trust the robot to not eat cords and other objects. I run my X40s on a daily schedule, downstairs runs at midnight every night and has not needed any intervention in over 2 weeks and upstairs runs at 5pm and no intervention for close to 3 weeks.

Considering your house is mostly hard floors, the s1 pro is a good choice however it struggles if you have carpet. If you have a mix of carpet and hard floors, I recommend the Dreame X40/L40 as it has significantly better carpet performance and edge cleaning due to the extending side brush. While the S1 pro has very impressive mopping, running a spinning mop style robot on a schedule will keep your floors as clean but one large benefit of the roller mops design in the S1 pro is that it is less likely to trap debris and scratch your floors.

My Dreame x40 goes under the toe kicks and gets all the debris with no issue. I would think the L40 and the Mova P10 pro ultra would also do the same.

I have two Dreame x40s. Probably one of the best robot vacuums from the last generation. The new generation is the Roborock Saros 10R and Dreame X50. As for the x40, I have two of them and they have probably the best object avoidance on the market while also have great cleaning performance. I run them both on a daily schedule and they have no issues cleaning my house without eating cords, cat toys and other random things that end up on the floor. The obstacle avoidance lets me run it daily without having to prep my house. If you have to prep your house, or can't run the robot on a schedule, it makes a robot vacuum a lot less useful. I basically don't have to think about the robot outside of refilling it's water and cleaning the filter. I also tried the QRevo slim but returned it since its obstacle avoidance wasn't as good. It cleaned well, but the Dreame cleaned just as well while having superior object avoidance so kept the Dreame. Since the new generation of robots just came out, I would wait a bit before buying but it looks like the Saros 10R might be one of the best picks right now. The Dreame x50 also looks good but I've heard some issues and bugs with the software but it does have better features like a self cleaning vacuum filter. Either way I would wait a bit for bugs to be ironed out and more reviews to come out.

Dreame X40. Has better vacuum performance than the Eufy s1 on hard floors and carpets. The eufy s1 has a slight edge in mopping but if you run your robot vacuum frequently, you won't notice a difference in your floor cleanliness between the two. Dreame also has a better app experience and actual smart home integration. At normal prices the X40 is far more expensive than the S1 which makes the S1 the better option, but with the X40 being $1000 during black Friday it's the better choice now.

Dreame x40, L40, Mova P10 pro ultra. Mova is a sister brand of dreame and the p10 pro ultra is basically a Dreame x40 with slightly smaller battery and missing the ability to leave the mop pads at the dock, but it usually comes in significantly cheaper than the X40 when on sale. The x40 is probably the best robot vacuum on the market as it has the least compromises out of all the robot vacuums right now. Roborock has atrocious object avoidance so their robots will tend to eat cords, dog toys, socks and other common household objects which forces you to have to prep your house for the robot to run. Eufy has good mopping with their S1 pro but poor vacuum performance. Dreame/Mova have exceptional object avoidance combined with excellent cleaning on carpets and hard floors. Also they can use the Tri-cut brush with significantly cuts down on hair entanglement. I have two x40s right now, pretty happy with it even with some of the issues I've had with it like a really sensitive Cliff Sensor and not being able to spin the side brush on carpet (being resolved right now with a firmware update). No one currently makes a perfect robot vacuum but Dreame/Mova are really close to getting there. The x50 which should be released this year and might be the first "perfect" robot vacuum.

So this is easily one of the most recommended mid priced vacuum because of its perceived value and Eufy really did bring a lot to the table with this product. With Black Friday coming around, people are recommending this vacuum left and right and I wanted to throw my experience with it out into the public. I watched countless reviews from Jamie Andrews, Vacuum Wars and looked around on this subreddit and came to the conclusion that the Eufy X10 might be the best Value robot vacuum with all of its features and decided to purchase my first on on May 10th, 2024 and my second one on June 4th 2024. After 350 hours of cleaning, [127 hours](https://photos.app.goo.gl/iFHv6AbKHnguRaEe7) on my upstairs x10 and [230 hours](https://photos.app.goo.gl/J4325ia8yiUMxzNp9) on my downstairs x10, I can say that the **Eufy X10 performs very poorly** and you are better off spending a little extra on the offerings from Dreame and Roborock. I bought this vacuum because I have 2 cats and some heavy allergies. I previously had 2 Wyze Robot Vacuums and they worked great but they lacked an auto empty system, mopping and didn't have obstacle avoidance which prevented me from running it on a schedule. After the Eufy x10 came out, it had all the things that my Wyze was missing and at a competitive price, undercutting the Qrevo and slightly undercutting the Dreame L10s Ultra when I was shopping around. And it had the best object avoidance which mattered a lot to me so I can run it daily without babysitting it. Ill start with the good things since this is a short list: 1. Mops well, floors feel clean and have stayed clean. For the money this is a great mop and does a great job at keeping our floors residue/dirt free 2. Good obstacle avoidance, I can run the vacuum daily and it works reasonably well avoiding cables, socks and cat toys. It will still eat the occasional sock or cable but it works decently well. 3. Good base station with easy to clean docking tray. The one piece tray is easy to remove and clean. I wish it was self cleaning like some of Dreame's docks but for the price, it is still great. 4. Decent carpet vacuum performance. Our carpets generally feel very clean and the vacuum does a good job at picking up pet hair and debris from carpets. Hard floors is a different story though... 5. Auto empty dock works well and reliably empties the dust bin every time. The dock has had zero malfunctions/issues since ive had it, I put a bit of Shark VacMop cleaner solution in the dirty and clean water tanks to help with cleaning and keep the dirty water tank from gunking up. 6. Eufy support is responsive and responds to tickets promptly and genuinely tries to be helpful And now the negatives: 1. Horrible hard floor performance even on Max suction, 2x Passes and Deep clean pathing. Both of my Eufy X10s have had the same poor performance since day 1 1. Filter clogs easily due to poor dustbin design 2. Brush guard seal wears quickly causing poor seal with hard floors 2. Poor battery life due to having to run the vacuum on max suction, 2x passes and deep cleaning to get any decent performance out of it and long recharge times. 3. Bad pathing, robot will frequently drive in circles, get stuck, refuse to find the base station and clean in a unsystematic manner 4. Non-existent smart home/Home Assistant support **1: Poor Hard floor performance:** [Here is a video](https://photos.app.goo.gl/GpTTrdmmYHRcc8yd7) of it running on a smooth tile floor in Max suction mode, Deep clean pathing and 2x passes. It runs right over the cat litter and **doesn't pick up anything!** [Eufy X10s failing to pick up cat litter on smooth tile floor in max suction mode with a clean filter](https://reddit.com/link/1gxu13s/video/vtbcyioiml2e1/player) Here are pictures of the clean filter and dustbin prior to sending it to clean that floor. Here is a [Video of the Wyze running in the garage](https://photos.app.goo.gl/nLLJD93Ft8RqdvGS8), compare that to [the video of my x10](https://photos.app.goo.gl/GpTTrdmmYHRcc8yd7) struggling to pick up basic cat litter on a smooth tile floor. [Wyze Robot Vacuum Cleaning metal washers, leaves and other garage debris on an abrasive concrete floor](https://reddit.com/link/1gxu13s/video/096804e6nl2e1/player) I ran the Wyze 2 times in my garage to see what it could pick up. Here is the debris from the first pass and second pass: [Garage Wyze Robot Vacuum, First Pass](https://preview.redd.it/9c9hfepinl2e1.jpg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=723939bfb739bd0a9c1d2d8a7a405bdfad306bcb) [Garage Wyze Robot Vacuum, Second Pass](https://preview.redd.it/ik4iyfpinl2e1.jpg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d0bf5d5eff749cf817c714c94a4ae3dce0c6c2d) The Wyze could pick up screws, washers and even a ring that my girlfriend lost a few days ago while the Eufy X10 couldn't even pick up cat litter! Also keep in mind that Wyze advertises "2000pa" of suction pressure while Eufy advertises "8000pa". Clearly the pressure ratings mean nothing, what matters is how efficient the filter and brush guard work with the vacuum motor. My experience with the Eufy X10 closely matches what [Rtings.com experienced with the Eufy X10](https://www.rtings.com/robot-vacuum/reviews/eufy/x10-pro-omni). It also matches the experience [Jamie Andrews had on hardfloors](https://youtu.be/ZvRaaol5LFA?si=qPYb846Jo9_K6-l7&t=221). I would like to hear how u/VacuumWars has found his unit has held up over the last few months, does he see similar performance? Edit: Another issue with the poor hard floor suction is that since the vacuum is not able to pick up small debris, there is a very high likelihood that that debris will be captured by the mop which will then rub that [abrasive debris into your floor and scratch them](https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/comments/1gxe6h9/scratches_on_floor_from_eufy_x10/). All spinning mop vacuums are at risk of doing this, but the X10 is very susceptible to this since it fails to pick up small debris most of the time. **1.1: Poor dustbin/filter design** So one of the issues likely contributing to the poor hard floor performance is the bad design of the dustbin and filter. Here is what my downstairs (80% hard floor) x10 filter looked like 1 week after replacing it and running it daily: [Downstairs Eufy X10 13 Cleaning Hours after replacement](https://preview.redd.it/782cdr8pll2e1.jpg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53002d834f6d76490ff1a5c98480ef8498dd3ac4) Keep in mind I have been running both of my Eufy X10s daily for the past few months so my floors are relatively clean, I also clean the filter weekly and replace it monthly. Here is the upstairs (90% carpet) x10 filter: [Upstairs Eufy X10s Filter 7 CleaningHours after replacement on 90% Carpet floors](https://preview.redd.it/10h2w9dtnl2e1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=777b5bb6663fa8026affe997d3c15e436c65fed3) In a sense, its good that the filter is catching this dust as the vacuum is able to capture it, but the issue is that the mesh screen is doing nothing to keep the filter from clogging. For comparison, here is what my Garage Wyze filter looks like after 5 cleaning cycles, keep in mind this vacuum lives in a garage picking up a lot of nasty things and its an actual [HEPA filter](https://www.wyze.com/products/wyze-robot-vacuum-consumable-hepa-filter): [Wyze HEPA filter after 5 garage vacuum sessions](https://preview.redd.it/e9dsseaynl2e1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5400855d3298cd1a2e414c2de1a52d7119370842) So why the large difference between the two? I think one reason is the mesh screen in the Eufy x10 is much larger allowing most particles through the bin and onto the filter while the Wyze has a much finer mesh and a HEPA rating, it also has a much larger dustbin than the Eufy x10. A possible solution for Eufy to implement is redesigning the bin so that when the Auto-empty cycle runs, have some air run backwards through the filter so that the dock can "vacuum" out the filter with each cycle. This would significantly extend the lifetime of the filter. **1.2: Poor quality brush guard** This is another issue that is likely contributing to the poor hard floor performance. The brush guard is a maintenance part according to Eufy and it has a rubber flap on it that aids with sealing the suction path to the floor: Here is how mine looked 1 week after replacing it: [Downstairs Eufy X10 Brush Guard 1 week after replacing it](https://preview.redd.it/2rk4phq4ll2e1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=446c85907ce1ea7854f85c0a034fe162b486600e) As you can see, its mangled up and tearing up. Prior to replacing i, that flap was completely gone. My Wyze robot vacuum also has a similar flap but its significantly more durable and has held up fine on the abrasive garage floor. Eufy lists the brush guard as a Consumable item replaced with standard maintenance and costs $13.99. I have a suspicion this is something they will not fix as they make money selling this part. For now I have used a piece of duct tape folded over itself sticking out exactly as far as the original part. Eufy claims this part should last 120hours, but mine degraded after 1-2 weeks which for me is \~20-30hours of runtime. My duct tape solution has been holding up fine and has helped the vacuum slightly with hard floor pickup. My Wyze brush guard has never been replaced and ive owned it for 2 years. It has zero sign of degradation and Wyze doesn't sell it as a consumable....wonder why... **2: Poor battery life** This is an issue also slightly related to the hard floor performance. The only way I can get decent performance out of my X10s is running them on Max suction mode, 2x Passes and Deep clean pathing. Without those settings, the vacuum will just push debris like rice around and not pick it up. This results in the battery draining like crazy. [Downstairs Area and Cleaning Time](https://preview.redd.it/vscnsy2all2e1.png?width=1344&format=png&auto=webp&s=4c25beb2e2a9dd41318cfd6834e5c7ef2691153b) My downstairs area is 473sqft according to the app and the app says it took 1hr 50mins to clean it in Max Suction, 2x Passes on hard floors, and Deep Cleaning Pathing. What it doesn't mention is that it started cleaning at 13:00 (1PM) and it cleaned for 1 hour and 15 mins. At which point its battery was depleted. **It then charged for 4 hours and resumed cleaning at 6pm!** It couldn't even do 500sqft in one charge! On top of that, the only carpeted rooms are the Living and Study room, even on "Max Suction" the eufy uses less suction on hard floors compared to the carpets, if the robot ran on "true" max suction on the hard floors, I doubt it could even do 100sqft without needing to charge. **3: Bad Pathing and Planning** This issue was worse when I first got the vacuum in late spring/early summer 2024 but it still persists. While the X10 is pretty good at avoiding most obstacles, when it gets stuck, its usually in the same place each cycle. My carpeted area in the living room is slightly sunken from the "main area" and I built a ramp for the robot to use to get down to the living room. My Wyze robot vacuum would use it flawlessly and it doesn't even have a camera. The Eufy x10 was pretty good about using the ramp when I first got it but it seems updates have regressed its behavior: [Video of Eufy X10 Getting stuck on ramp and repeating same action over and over again instead of changing strategy](https://photos.app.goo.gl/q5ECiQALp2bNPadw8). [Video of eufy X10 getting stuck in a corner for no reason and not backing up](https://photos.app.goo.gl/vMXagQazTBNR7Ueh6) [Video of Eufy X10 getting stuck on ramp and repeating same action over and over again instead of changing strategy](https://reddit.com/link/1gxu13s/video/4hy5t47kpl2e1/player) [Eufy X10 getting stuck in a corner for no reason and not backing up](https://reddit.com/link/1gxu13s/video/rgktto9rpl2e1/player) **4: Non-Existent Smart Home/Home Assistant Integration** There is zero Home Assistant support for the Eufy X10. Dreame, and Roborock both have integrations for Home Assistant and you can even install [Valetudo ](https://valetudo.cloud/pages/general/supported-robots.html)on some Dreames and Roborocks for full local control. Even my Wyze has a home assistant integration because Wyze has an API for developers. Eufy on the other hand does not have any smart home integration and from what it seems like, no API for developers for the X10 and newer vacuums. [There is this thread on Github](https://github.com/CodeFoodPixels/robovac/issues/68) where some people are trying to get the X10 working but its been up in the air since March 21st. I filed a ticket with Eufy asking for a home assistant integration and they said they appreciate the feedback and received this response on September 22nd 2024: >....we understand your request for better integration with Home Assistant and acknowledge the current limitations with Google Assistant. We are continuously working to improve our app's compatibility and will keep your suggestions in mind for future updates. Its been over 2 months since that and no updates still to enable any sort of Home Assistant support. This is a very crucial feature for me as I would use my smart switches to call for the vacuum to clean a certain room. For example, I would triple tap my kitchen light switch to request my Wyze vacuum to clean my kitchen. For a company as big as Eufy, releasing a smart robot vacuum in 2024 with zero smart home support is pitiful. **Conclusion** So its not looking good for the X10 in my opinion. My comparisons may not be 100% scientific like Vaccum Wars, Jaime Andrews and Rtings performs, but my findings do closely line up with what Jaime Andrews and Rtings have found with regards to Hard Floor cleaning performance. Its great when a robot vacuum can do all sorts of things like mopping floors, avoiding obstacles and auto emptying, but one thing it should definitely be able to do is, **vacuum**! The Eufy X10 falls very short in that aspect on Hard Floors and I wish I could return both of my units and get a Dreame L10S Ultra or Roborock Qrevo instead. I may start a warranty claim on both of my robots due to the poor performance, some people are saying their X10s have been working great, but in the many hours I have ran my X10s, they have not performed well. And while the rest of you are looking around at reviews on this subreddit and elsewhere, please keep in mind that this [subreddit is very frequently astroturfed ](https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/comments/1g9gn00/yall_notice_that_half_the_posts_on_this_subreddit/)and there manufacturers are known for paying for reviews. Sources like Rtings, Vacuum Wars and Jaime Andrews are known for purchasing vacuums with their own money but almost all reviewers post affiliate links in their descriptions for the products they review, whether you think that affects how they might portray a product is up to your interpretation. TLDR: The Eufy X10 sucks (but actually it doesn't suck anything up on hard floors) Edit: Typos, Punctuation Edit 12/22/2024: I have completed a warranty return with Eufy. They took back both of my used Eufy X10s and partially refunded me for both vacuums. They refunded me 50% of my purchase price for my first X10 and 70% my purchase price of the second X10. This is understandable considering I purchased my robot vacuums in May/June. Overall their return process was very smooth and customer support was top notch. After seeing my videos of the robot failing to pickup cat litter, they quickly got me a shipping label to RMA the product. When I asked if I can just get refunded, they didn't hesitate to provide me a refund offer without resistance. Overall, top notch customer service and I will continue to keep Eufy in my mind for future robot vaccuums. I hope they are able to fix the design flaws of the X10 and provide a competitive product with flagship features at a low price with the X11 or whatever is next. Till then, I have purchased 2x Dreame X40s to replace my Eufy X10s, both perform significantly better but have some issues of their own which I will detail in my eventual review of the X40. But overall happy with the X40. [Cat Tax](https://preview.redd.it/xdr5ji6tkl2e1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f4a48afb795fa5af014890e1cd0d432cbe46057)

Skip Roborock if you want good obstacle avoidance. Their robots are mediocre at it compared to Dreame and the S1 pro. Get the Mova P10 pro ultra, it's basically a Dreame x40 with a smaller battery and missing the ability to leave the mop pads at the base station. It's obstacle avoidance is just as good and it's $679 on Amazon right now. I have two Dreame X40s, great vacuums, never get stuck on obstacles or eat cords/cat toys. Cleans my house well and does a good job getting embedded dust out of my carpets and debris off my hard floors. The Mova P10 pro ultra is basically going to be the same but at a much lower price (Mova is a sister/subbrand of Dreame) I had a QRevo slim and it was horrible at obstacle avoidance. Cleaned as well as the Dreame X40 but it would eat cords and socks and felt like the obstacle avoidance is useless. I bought the slim since it supposedly has the best obstacle avoidance of the Roborocks but it just isn't consistent or reliable to trust running it on a schedule. I want a robovac that I can run on a schedule without having to prep my home. The S1 pro is a good robot if you have hard floors only, but it's vacuum performance is bad compared to the Dreame and roborock. Most of the debris will be picked up by the spinning mop and end up in the mop filter and not the dust bin. It also lags bending on carpet performance versus Dreame and roborock and doesn't have an extending side brush.

S7 maxv is a $1000 robot while the l10S is a $400 robot. Compare the S7 maxv against the X30 or the X40 and you will find that the Dreame blows roborock out of the water, it's not even close. The QRevo slim is rated as having the best obstacle avoidance of all the roborocks and I purchased one because of that, in my real world testing on carpet and hard floors, it is significantly worse than the Dreame X40 and even my old Eufy x10. So maybe it's the best Roborock but that really isn't a high bar to pass.

Fair enough. In that case it looks like Dreame made a huge improvement with object avoidance with the introduction of their "X" series like the X30 and X40. Considering the QRevo slim is Roborock's best object avoidance offering, the S8 does do worse than it and by extension the S7 is last gen tech. Looking at all the comparisons, most rank the Slim above the S8 and the S7 and then the X40 is well beyond the Slim. It's a shame because roborock would be the best choice if their object avoidance actually was reliable and consistent.

Dreame l10S or l20 if you are trying to save money Dreame x30 if you have a little more money to spend Dreame X40/L40 if you want the best. If you only have hardfloors, the Eufy S1 pro I also like the QRevo Slim if you want something from Roborock but I am disappointed with its Object avoidance capabilities when compared to Dreame and Eufy. Roborock in general is quite trash at obstacle avoidance and it makes it hard for me to trust their vacuums to run on a schedule without having to babysit them but their hardware is solid and reliable. Skip the Eufy x10 that so many shills like. It's got a lot of features that look good but in reality they aren't very well implemented. I had two of them and Eufy partially refunded me for both of them due to my experience with them. Good customer support, but a bad vacuum design that struggles to pick up anything on hardfloors. For the same money I would get a Dreame l10S or L20 instead. I posted my full review here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/s/AVD9Ph2eHK

Yeah it's the best robot mop on the market right now but it struggles when it comes to vacuuming compared to the competition like the Dreame X40. Also the mopping ability of the s1 pro is a bit overrated as most reviews should it mopping up huge messes which most people aren't doing on a daily basis and running a Dreame X40 or roborock Qrevo on a schedule would keep your floors just as clean but give you better vacuum performance.

Yeah this doesn't really exist. Your best bet is to get a Mova P10 pro ultra or a Dreame x40. Mova is a sister company of Dreame and Dreame currently has the best object avoidance on carpet and hard floors. The Mova P10 pro ultra is equivalent to the Dreame L40 which has top notch object avoidance. You should be able to get a Mova P10 pro ultra for $600-800 on sale and an X40 for 800-1000 on sale.

With the QRevo slim or basically any roborock, you will feel like an idiot because you will be finding yourself babysitting your vacuum and pulling out cords that it's eaten from the brush rollers. Seriously, roborock needs to work on their object avoidance algorithm before I will ever recommend their products to anyone. They have everything else figured out, class leading cleaning performance, app and build quality, but their robots have the object avoidance of $300 vacuums. I currently have a QRevo Slim and a Dreame X40. The X40 is so far ahead in the object avoidance realm that it's not even a contest. Both clean about equally as well with a slight edge going to the QRevo Slim, but that slight advantage means nothing if it can't complete a full cleaning task without getting hung up on some obstacle. I have my Dreame X40 running at midnight every day and never have to worry about it getting stuck on something or caught on something because it's object avoidance works so well, even in the dark and on all surfaces. It stays clear of cat toys, cords, socks, paper towels and all sorts of random household junk. So even if the roborock is very so slightly better at cleaning, the fact that I can run the Dreame daily will keep my house cleaner. The Dreame also does a better job cleaning edges and corners due a better extending brush design and extension algorithm. For the money get the Dreame X40 if you have a mix of hard floors and carpets and get the eufy s1 pro if you have only hard floors.

I mean it's justified to be scared to try another one. Dreame needs to do better with quality control and customer support. Here is the number I've been contacting on Whatsapp: +86 133 9119 2686 The rep's name is Russel, he's the customer service rep for South Korea and Australia but hes been helping people from all regions. He's much better to work with than the regular dreame support. And yeah you can buy a certified refurbished one with a 2 year warranty through all state on eBay. I went this route with both of my x40s since the warranty period is longer and through a more accountable 3rd party.

Jaime, would you say that the QRevo Slim is close in obstacle avoidance performance to the Dreame X40? I have a Dreame X40 but I'm considering returning it due to the side brush not spinning on carpets and because it thinks my rubber anti-fatigue kitchen mats are a cliff so it gets stuck on the mats (something my cheaper robot vacuums with Cliff sensors never had issues with). I'm hoping the slim is close in object avoidance performance as the X40 is class leading.

So yeah the slim has okay object avoidance but not nearly to the level of Dreame. The Roborock Qrevo Slim basically refuses to avoid cords on carpet, even clearly visible and thick extension cords. It's a bit disappointing in the object avoidance but it is nice how well it can clean my kitchen and it doesn't get stuck on my black anti-fatigue mats unlike my X40. Seems like they both have similar cleaning performance with maybe the roborock being better with the double brush roller? It's going to be difficult to pick which one is going back. It is nice that the slim can get under some cabinets and side boards and that it can clean my kitchen well, but its object avoidance makes it hard to trust to run on a schedule. Also it's pathing efficiency seems not as good as the x40 as well as battery life. Meanwhile the X40 has practically flawless object avoidance but it's Cliff sensors are over sensitive and prevent my X40 from properly cleaning my kitchen with it getting up onto my anti-fatigue rubber mats and then getting stuck on them since it thinks the edges are a cliff. Also the lack of side brush on carpet is a bit annoying. I've brought these concerns up to Dreame support and a support engineer I got a hold of on whatsapp and they might be working on a fix but not going to hold my breath on that. They have had almost a year to implement the brush on carpet feature which the L40 for some reason has now but the X40 still doesn't have. Might just keep the QRevo slim and work around it's poor object avoidance. Have you gotten updates on your roborock vacuums to make object avoidance better?

Dreame excels at object avoidance. The only decent roborocks are the S8 MaxV and the Slim but they are significantly worse than Dreame and Eufy at object avoidance. My QRevo slim fails to see cords and basic obstacles on carpet and hard floors while my Dreame X40 has zero issues seeing every obstacle and rarely gets stuck or caught on things.

The eufy x10 is trash at actually vacuuming debris: https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/s/aP3N1VO5Tt The only thing it deserves an award for is best object avoidance for the money. I would say the best would be the QRevo Slim for carpet/hardwood and Dreame X40 if you only have hard floors. The eufy s1 pro is overrated and has the same suction issues as the x10. It has the best mop, but how often are you actually mopping up giant messes every day with your robot vacuum. Running a reliable robot vacuum with a spinning mop system will do as good on a schedule. The eufy vacuums also lack lots of app and smart home integration features like setting the floor grain direction, setting the location of ramps the robot can use and other smart features that roborock and Dreame have in their apps that Eufy is lacking.

His cleaning tests are good but his obstacle avoidance test really needs work. He only tests on hard floors which is the easiest floor to test on, carpet is much harder for most robots when it comes to object avoidance. If he tested on carpet, the Roborock products would end up rank much lower as their object avoidance algorithm is horrible even on their top object avoidance performer, the QRevo Slim. Even on hardfloors, I found the QRevo slim still was not as reliable and consistent at avoiding obstacles as my Dreame X40. Object avoidance really should be one of the most important things a vacuum robot can do as the usefulness of a robot is significantly reduced if you cannot trust it to run on a daily schedule and if you have to babysit it. He also doesn't really test how effective the extending side brushes work and in that realm roborock also is behind the competition as their algorithm for determining if the arm needs to extend or not only really work in perfect 90degree corners. Dreame on the other hand actually extends in any case that the robot thinks it cannot reach normally which results in much better edge and corner cleaning performance. Additionally, the side brush design on the new Roborocks is slightly angled which prevents full contact when extended leaving a large dead spot (I think the QRevo Curv is the only one without this defect). To be fair, this isn't something most reviewers really test at the moment, but it does make me suspicious why Vacuum wars rates roborock's products at the top of his ratings every time. I feel that Jaime Andrews is a much more reliable source of information as he properly tests object avoidance and cleaning performance along with generally avoiding sounding like an advertisement. There are lots of vacuum wars videos which just sound like him reading off the manufacturers press release and then not properly verifying their claims. Regardless, Vacuumwars is just another source to consider but I wouldn't consider him the best reviewer. JustADad seems like a good source for more real-world use reviews but his videos are a bit long and not really easy to watch unlike Jaime Andrews and Vacuum wars. Jaimie Andrews is an overall good source, he's active on this subreddit and I believe he runs the unofficial Roborock subreddit but even with him running that subreddit, his reviews are very impartial. Rtings has been putting out more reviews now and they just released their review for the Eufy s1 pro, QRevo Curv and soon the Dreame L40. If you are buying, purchase from a reputable retailer with a generous return policy. Maybe purchase two robots you think you are interested in and return the one that performs worse in your use case. That's what I did when I bought the Dreame X40 and QRevo Slim and returned the QRevo Slim to Amazon.

You don't have anything on the floor, not even cords, phone chargers, socks, towels or anything that a robot can eat? For me and most other people, having one of those objects on the floor is a common occurrence and not having to prep my house and pick up every little thing the robot could possibly get stuck on is a huge benefit. I can basically always trust my X40 to finish a midnight cleaning session in the dark and wake up to find it sitting in its dock and have clean floors in the morning. Hair wrap is another thing that is pretty important, but that's brings me back to why it's suspicious that Roborock scores at the top for Vacuumwars lists since the Dreame Tricut brush performs significantly better when it comes to hair wrap resistance than Roborock's offerings other than maybe the QRevo Curv with the divided brush. And just because I'm asking reviewers to focus on one aspect like obstacle avoidance, doesn't mean they have to miss out on details like hair wrap. Reviewers should cover all of these topics if they want to be the "best reviewer" so far the only person that does long term reviews is JustADad. If he could condense his format a little bit into shorter and more conscience reviews, it would make him an even better source.

Dreame x40/L40 or Mova P10 pro ultra. Dreame/Mova have the best object avoidance on the market currently along with having top notch cleaning performance. I run my X40s daily on a schedule and they never get stuck on cords or cat toys. The QRevo slim I also ordered to compare my X40 again would basically always eat a cord, sock or cat toy when running so I couldn't trust it to run on a schedule and returned it. Roborock in general has top notch cleaning performance but horrible object avoidance and I would not recommend roborock for that reason Eufy has pretty good object avoidance, especially in the S1 pro but the common issue with Eufy's products is that they underperform when it comes to vacuum performance. They fail to pick up debris on hard floors and carpets. And perform worse than Dreame/roborock.

I have two certified refurbished X40s and they were practically brand new, no sign of previous use. Also comes with 2 year third party warranty so you don't have to deal with dreame's questionable warranty support team. Based on how much you get from returning the shark and roomba, you can get 2 L10s robots or maybe one x30/x40. The Dreame vacuums are far better for the money due to their advanced features like object avoidance and they have good vacuum performance. Roborock has good vacuum performance but severely lacks in the object avoidance realm. Eufy has good object avoidance but not so great vacuum performance. iRobot and Shark are in a tier below Dreame, Roborock and Eufy.

In my experience, the x10 is mediocre at vacuuming hard floors, okay at vacuuming carpets, decent at object avoidance for the money, decent at mopping (although the mop pads are very likely to capture abrasive debris and scratch your floors since the vacuum performance is so bad), good customer support. The review from Rtings closely matched my experience: https://www.rtings.com/robot-vacuum/reviews/eufy/x10-pro-omni X40 > QRevo Slim > Eufy x10 > Wyze robot vacuum The Wyze, while far outperforming everyone in vacuum performance on hard floors, is last because it's a "dumb robot" with no obstacle avoidance, self emptying dock, mopping and other advanced features that the other three have. It is still a really good performer and lives in my garage picking up leaves, road debris, concrete chunks, screws and other nasty garage debris that the other vacuums likely couldn't pickup. Also has a sealed HEPA filter unlike the others. In your case, I think your best options are the Roborock QRevo, Dreame l10S, Mova E30. The roborock will be the best at vacuuming but will struggle in object avoidance. The l10S and Mova E30 are very similar machines, both will perform better than the x10 at vacuuming and mopping but be slightly worse at object avoidance but better than the QRevo at object avoidance. If you are willing to keep your home a "robot vacuum proof" environment, the QRevo should be the best choice in your price range.

Dreame X40/L40 or Mova P10 pro ultra. The P10 usually goes on sale for $679 and it's like 90% the same as the x40 which goes on sale for around $800-900. The p10 has a slightly smaller battery and is missing the ability to leave the mop pads at the dock. The X40/L40 and P10 are probably the best overall robot vacuums on the market right now with the best object avoidance, equivalent carpet and hard floor performance to Roborock and equivalent app features. These robots also have extending side brushes which do a great job getting into corners and areas where the robot can't normally reach. The tricut brush which you can purchase and install does a excellent job preventing hair wrap but I have found it is significantly less effective on hard floors. The included roller brush does a good job on carpet and hard floors. The excellent obstacle avoidance enables you to schedule your robot to run daily without having to prep your house, it just avoids cords, socks and other common obstacles significantly better than Roborock's most expensive offerings. No one makes a perfect robot vacuum right now, all have some compromises, for example the x40 side brush currently cannot spin on carpet (they are fixing it in a software update) and it's Cliff sensors are very sensitive so Dreame vacuums have more trouble with dark/black carpets or mats. Roborock makes vacuums with excellent cleaning performance but atrocious obstacle avoidance so they rarely can finish a cleaning run unless you prep your house. Eufy brings a lot of features to the table for the money but seriously struggles with vacuum pickup performance. If you wait for the middle of this year, there will be alot of impressive offerings like the Dreame x50, and Roborock Saros series and maybe even Eufy will fix their issues with the x10 and bring out a new flagship killer that actually has good vacuum performance.

If you are ordering on Amazon just buy both and return the one you like less. That's what I did when I was looking at the Dreame X40 and QRevo Slim. I ended up keeping the Dreame since their object avoidance is significantly ahead of roborock even though the QRevo slim is their best performance object avoidance robot. Also the edge cleaning was better on the Dreame and overall cleaning performance was about equal. The QRevo slim was slightly better on hard floors and Roborock is generally a little better on hard floors. For me the object avoidance was really important because I can run the robot daily without worrying about it get caught on something and I don't have to prep my house for it to run.

Have you tried changing the empty frequency? Also try running every day, the obstacle avoidance on the X40 is good enough that you can run it daily without having to prep your home. Once it gets through the accumulated hair in your carpets, it should pick up less and less debris on each run and have no issues emptying itself.

Get a Dreame or Mova for best obstacle avoidance. I've owned a Eufy x10, Dreame x40 and Roborock QRevo slim. Out of all of them I rate the Dreame x40 far ahead of the other two with the QRevo slim coming in 2nd and Eufy x10 last I currently have two x40s and their obstacle avoidance is nearly flawless. The robots rarely get stuck or eat cables which lets me run them both daily without having to prep my house or intervene. Roborock in general, really struggles with obstacle avoidance, especially on carpet. The QRevo slim I had for a few weeks before returning it would constantly eat cords and cat toys. Do not go with roborock if you value obstacle avoidance. For your case, I would recommend the Dreame L40 or Mova P10 pro ultra. Mova is Dreame's sister company and the p10 pro ultra is identical to the Dreame L40 other than not being able to leave the mop pads at the base station. And both are very similar to the X40 other than having a slightly smaller battery and slightly different obstacle avoidance sensors while still being as good as obstacle avoidance. The advantage of the L40 and p10 pro ultra is that you are getting X40 level performance but usually around the $500-700 price point.

If you buy from the manufacturer, they can just give you the run around. I have two certified refurbished x40s I bought off eBay. Both have been flawless and have probably the best obstacle avoidance out of the competition. Dreame L40 or Mova P10 pro ultra. The L40 should available on sale for around $400-500. The Mova P10 pro ultra is also around the same price and is identical to the L40 as it is made by Dreame's sister company. Get the L40 over the P10 pro ultra if they are the same price as the L40 gets software updates sooner. The L40 is one of the top performing robots for the money and has excellent hair tangle resistance since you can run the tricut brush. I have 2x Dreame x40s and they have the same brush system as the l40 and I have one running the tricut and one without it. Both have been excellent with resisting hair wrap with the tricut having zero hair tangled on it and the regular brush having a small amount on the ends. The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor. If money is not a constraint and you have lots of carpet, try out the Saros 10r and Dreame X50. Both have some of the best carpet performance while also having good hair wrap resistance. The Saros 10r has slightly better cleaning performance than the x50 but the downside is that its obstacle avoidance is significantly worse than Dreame.

I've had an 2x x40s for the past 6 months and accumulated over 300 cleaning hours between the two. The L40 is probably the best value for money at $500. The Mova P10 pro ultra would be my default recommendation at that price point since it is made by Dreame's sister company but it lacks the ability to leave the mop pads at the dock even though the hardware is identical. The L40 is a great performer, basically as good as the X40 and one of the best features is probably the obstacle avoidance. In the 300 hours that I've run the robots, they have practically never gotten stuck on cords, cat toys or other common household obstacles, maybe 1-2% of the time. This means I can run the robot every night reliably and wake up to the robot sitting in its dock and have a clean floor to start the day. Vacuum performance is top notch and mopping is great, not had any hardware issues with mine since buying it. All the software issues are now worked out. Over all the app is good on Android, it's a little less responsive than Roborock's but still completely usable and has lots of features that are useful. I rarely have to use the app though since I have the robots running on a daily schedule which is setup through the app. Support sucks, all of the Chinese manufacturers suck with Eufy sucking the least when it comes to support and Roborock is probably after then with Dreame coming in third. Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY FROM DREAME'S WEBSITE. If you have any issues with the product, they will not let you return it and they have no third party to hold them accountable. Buy it from Costco or Amazon or whatever reputable third party vendor, that way you have a return policy and a third party mediating the transaction.

I got my Saros 10R yesterday around this time (purchased it myself). I'm upgrading from a S7 Max V. Had a Neato D7 before that and a Robock S5 Max and very briefly a Dreame X40 that broke. [https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png](https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png) **Few things before I go into it:** I live in a relatively small home. My first floor is mostly hardwood/tile with a 15x20' area rug in the living room. My second floor is all deep carpet. I have a long haired German Shepherd and a wife that both shed a fair amount of longish hair. I keep my rooms mostly tity but my computer does have a fair amount of cables/wires that are wrapped together, but run along the floor. My wife also has a Korg keyboard that has a foot pedal and she often leaves it on the ground. **Super Pros:** * General hardwood/tile mopping significantly better than the S7 Max V. My wife and I both noticed it immediately after the first clean I ran. It covered more areas, got closer to objects (the pivoting side mop helps a lot with that) it reached under my cabinets and it was able to get under two pieces of furniture the S7Max couldn't fit under. * Low Pile Rug performance is much better. I do wish I could set it to 2x crisscross every time on the area rugs.. but the mixed pattern will have to do. * It's way, way, way quieter. General runs are quieter. Max+ mode (or w/e its called) is way quieter. Mopping is now nearly silent. The transfer from robot to base is much quieter than the S7 MaxV. * The Anti-Tangle brush is actually Anti-Tangle. All my previous vacuums would get hair tangled in a single run - I'd clean them at least once a week (neato way more) to get all the hair out. After 24 hours, I see 0 hair stuck. Not one. * The feature set is more rich over the S7 Max. This one is a think a bit annoying because I feel like a some of these features the S7 could do, its just software locked.. but having the ability to do pet area deep cleaning, mixed pattern cleaning, the rug options + all the leave behind the mops, extensions, re-mopping, etc is all really cool. * The detergent dispenser is a nice addition over the S7 MaxV. * The ability to clean out the tray and the self cleaning stuff is super nice. **Kind of Pros but maybe a little not:** * Hair Pickup on carpet is better than the S7 MaxV but still worse than the Neato D7. * I confirmed this by running the S7 Max V first (with rubber brush), on my upstairs carpeted room - that I purposely haven't vacuumed in a week. S7 Max V barely got anything and had some wrapped around the edges - as it does. The Saros 10R filled about a quarter of it's bin - but no tangles! The Neato filled the entire, much larger, bin, the chute partially jammed with hair and the bristle brush was wrapped completely. Neato is still king of deep carpet cleanup (if you ignore how jammed full of hair it gets) * I think the takeaway here is that the Saros 10R is big improvement but I find Roborock still lacks with hair pickup on deep carpets - even area rugs, to an extent.. over much older vacuums. * Pivoting Side Brush is good.. sometimes? When it works, it obviously works and pulls stuff out of corners, I don't find it working that often though - especially under the cabinets/corner cabinets. It comes outsometimes for a bit then goes away. (this is with the AI Lab Flexi arm thing enabled). * Navigation seems similar/better. In terms of actually going around and finding how to get there, it seems quicker (i haven't timed it) and it does less random movements like my S7 Max V did both during and after its cleaned. **Cons:** * The obstacle avoidance seems worse, maybe even way worse? I know it's only been 24 hours and I know the system the 10R specifically uses is new, but so far it's been pretty bad at detecting things, especially cables. * Yesterday when I was messing around with it, it ran into one of my dogs stuffed toys and got stuck on it. It also decided to "jump" little tray tables I have under my sofa, and got stuck on a wire behind them. (I set this as a no-go from now on). * This morning was the first time I ran it on a schedule - I do it early before I wake up, but I woke up to it stuck on the cable for my Wife's keyboard, the mop got wrapped in the cable and it pulled it off. * Just an hour or so ago today, when I was testing the carpet pickup on the second floor, it ran into a sock under my nightstand and got jammed. * Kind of disappointing considering my S7 Max V maybe got stuck twice, in the entirety of 2 years I owned it. I'm chalking this up to a combination of bad luck, weirdness because it's trying to hop stuff the others wouldn't attempt, and relatively new firmware on a new type of obstacle avoidance system. I hope it will improve. * All the Bins are too damn small. * My dog blows his coat twice per year. When that happens my S7 Max V can sometimes get nearly filled with dog hair. I've had to split rooms up into subrooms in order to force it to go back to the dock more often to empty. In this case - the Saros 10R not only has a smaller bin, but it's better at cleaning hair. I can see this being a problem. * It seems to use more water than my S7 MaxV while mopping, yet the clean and dirty bin are both smaller. Which means more refills. * The gloss on the front of the dock is a fingerprint magnet. I hate it. **Conclusion:** Overall, again after only 24 hours, I think its' a pretty nice upgrade over the S7 MaxV and I plan on keeping it. I'm hoping software improves the obstacle avoidance, which is my biggest concern at the moment. I also hope Roborock continues to improve it's suction/hair pickup performance - i really hope youtubers also create better tests for this. A lot of these guys say these newer robots are "perfect" at it and it's just not been my experience at all. They are getting better - in fact tangles seem solved, which is great, but they also leave a ton of hair behind.. even when compared to older robot vacuums but especially compared to a Dyson or something. **If anyone has any questions or wants anything specifically answered let me know ill do my best to respond.**

While it worked I really enjoyed the X40. My biggest concern with these bots has been the hair pickup/tanglement issues. Ever since I got my Long Haired Shepherd - its been a battle to keep up with his hair. The Neato by far has the best PICKUP - but it was TERRIBLE with tanglement. The Brush would literally be covered in 2-3 days and need to be cleaned.. it would often jam after a week if I didn't clean it out. It also had no mopping capability, no obstacle avoidance, was loud as hell, the app sucked, etc. The S5 Max with the Bristle brush was decent at pickup - but it too would tangle and become a mess. That + the smaller bin would constantly need to be cleaned out. Mopping was okay but needing to manage it since no auto-dock wasn't fun. It was a great bot but I think the docking station stuff made the newer ones a massive step up in convenience. I still have my S5 Max though. The S7 MaxV had the worst hair pickup on carpets, with the stock rubber brush, of all the bots I ever owned. Tangles were minimal but it didn't do well taking hair off the carpets (it did great on the hardwood/tile though). Swapping out the rubber to the bristle brush improved the pickup but increased the tangle problem - it also created a problem with auto-empty for me a few times. Other then that i thought it was a great bot. The obstacle avoidance was great for my dog's toys. The mopping was good enough for the mud he would track in and stuff. It definitely was little loud but acceptable. Then I got the X40 with the Tricut brush. It had all the benefits of the bristle brush - performed similar to the S7 MaxV and the non-tanglement of the rubber brush. I'd still get tangles, but they were very very minimal - it did way better actually getting the hair off the carpet. I've read the X40 was better at obstacle avoidance but I really never had a problem with it on my S7 MaxV, so for me it was similar. Mopping and the cleaning of the mop pads was much better than the S7 MaxV. It was also quieter. I honestly would have kept the X40, as I loved it while it worked - but i ran into that docking problem and their support made me jump through massive hoops, spanning nearly 3 weeks, in order to get, what was initially just a replacement... but it was such a nightmare I ended up just telling them I wanted a refund, I didn't want the replacement anymore. And to be clear - it's entirely possible that Roborock's support is equally as bad, but I just haven't experienced that yet. And as it currently stands even the S5 Max still runs great 5 years later, despite having something like 1500 hours on it.

I've had the Dreame X40 for 30 days tomorrow and I'm returning it. For the first week it was good but by week 3 it was squeaking, getting stuck on ramps, stopped doing edges and I had to replace roller twice because object detection was lacking and roller tore. Mopping capabilities were always iffy but I decided I could live with having to manually mop once a month to avoid return hassle. But once it stopped sweeping and mopping anywhere it transitioned from rug to floor, I was done. It would leave 2 ft circumference around every rug unswept which was horrible near dog doors and the rug in front of them (main reason I got vacuum!) So now I am once again in the market for a vacuum mop. I have 3 pets and all hard flooring throughout house outside of a few rugs in front of doggy doors. So it doesn't need to be great on carpet or even halfway decent. Looking for the best robot vacuum for sweeping and mopping and can handle large amounts of pet hair.

Mine was great 1st week, wasn't a fan of mopping but overall, great, week 2 in started squeeking, annoying but doable and each week it got worse at navigation, essentially only doing half rooms...I think from other reviews and how great it was in the beginning, I just got one with glitches. Word of advice...Do not throw away box or any packaging, even Amazon is particular about how they will accept this back, they need to review product before issuing refund, not just giving refund as soon as it's in UPS hands, which is Amazon standard...needs to essentially look brand new, all pieces there.

I think you misunderstood...all the above issues I was fine with...annoying for a 1k machine but willing to deal with it. But was not willing to deal with it stopping sweeping the entire floor. It was glitching out around edges. Since it did it in the beginning, this problem was not supposed to happen, and I contacted manufacturers, and they didn't have a fix, and I saw on reddit that this glitch was due to a recent update. Since I was getting a different one, all I asked was the best one for hard flooring and pets. I don't think that is asking too much.

I also recommend Just A Dad. The YouTube affiliate-link sellers are all shilling the Roborock Saros at the moment. However, his testing shows that while it cleans quite well, the object avoidance really hasn't gotten much better. It runs over a cable and a fairly big Lego construction like they aren't there. My mid-range Dreame would have chomped the cable but would have avoided Lego 1/3 that size all day long. I think he updated the comments to say Roborock had reached out to him to explain the cable and his carpet was the wrong colour or something. The Dreame X50 does well with obstacle avoidance but looks lost otherwise trying to find its way around. Personally, I'd get the Dreame X40 if you don't need the threshold jumping as it had all the bugs ironed out and was pretty much perfect by all accounts.

Thanks for reviewing it! I was curious of this X50... I had the X40 for some weeks and returned it due to their poor support and subpar performance. I'm sure Dreame isn't honest with the kPa's and other figures. A Q8 performs much better being 1/3 of the price. I might go for a Roborock S9 when it gets released.

I bought the Dreame X50 Pro from China and have been using it. This is not sponsored at all, I bought it completely with my own money. https://preview.redd.it/ftsik64hz9be1.jpg?width=1780&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03a47133d3ce92cbecd6d72d8d95b5226b3022f3   So, I wanted to give my overall thoughts and will try to give a somewhat detailed review. There was no lab testing, but I did try to do a couple of ‘lab like’ tests. This was done in a 4-bedroom 1 story house with no pets or dogs. I also got the version with the clean water and dirty water tubs (the standard) because the version that connects to the water pipes wouldn't suit my house layout at all. I’ve never owned a Dreame before and my last Roborock was many years ago.   Some new features:   \-Double brush design \-Dustbin compression for Pets (If there is pet hair in the house, it will try to limit how much space is used in the dustbin via compression). \-Retracting Lidar to access low areas \-Electrolyzed water (Pro/Ultra versions only) - This is a good feature if you live in a country with 'hard' water as this can affect longevity of these devices. \- Self-cleaning Filter \- Self-cleaning tray \- Ability to lift at high heights (I didn’t test this as I have no value in it and majority of you probably don’t either).     ***Vacuum design: 8.5/10*** The vacuum looks very slick and modern. The retracting lidar with the different coloured LED is also a very nice touch, so I will give them props for this design. I will talk about functionality later on. https://preview.redd.it/2b1bjaij1abe1.jpg?width=2905&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a6fef8b9bedab0a0e5beb6034e89262af94ad0b ***Dock Design: 8.5/10*** It feels very premium and looks like the X40 dock design. One of the main differences is the full removal tray is no more! And you only have a small filter tray that is removal. I’m sure some will be disappointed by this change but one of the features of the X50 is that it cleans its own tray and so far, I’ve found that to be true, after multiple cleans, the tray still looks spotless. However, it has now been a very similar design for a few editions of the top model for the dock, so I feel it is time for Dreame to take a bit of a risk and change it up for the x60 in the future. That is why I'm giving it an 8.5/10 because the dock looks good, but it’s the same design. In terms of functionality, I’d give it a 10/10. It did a good job cleaning the mops for example, so I tested it with some coffee powder and here are the **before:** https://preview.redd.it/jrf6fbs3babe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95ee636660f702b6e1c5600ca5b04e0ce4f2e5e6 **after** https://preview.redd.it/gyjneuh5babe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78234d597d5aaf1274696e5b06145fe8caf18856 Overall, pretty good job.   ***Brush design/anti-tangle: 10/10***   https://preview.redd.it/y6h3q61v2abe1.jpg?width=2825&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3961f0bb9708417ea6aabdaa0af8661dfd208c3b I live in a family full of females with very long hair, after multiple passes of the house, I’ve seen 0 hair getting caught in the brushes, so 10/10 for that one.   ***Self-cleaning filter: 6/10***   This is one of the features that was mentioned for the X50, and it sounds great in theory. I tested it after cleaning up instant coffee powder, it did remove most of it: **before:** https://preview.redd.it/72or0croz9be1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6f82d6b34d5a6b665c8ad76aa9cb17a41ad7d58 **after:** https://preview.redd.it/oy07m2hsz9be1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29be14b13752d86fc76a9b526e15dff2a63548b9 I wouldn’t say the filter has been thoroughly cleaned though and will likely require manual cleaning very soon. I also tried it on yellow sand and once again, it did clean the filter somewhat: I'd say the results are worse here. **before:** https://preview.redd.it/j4e7tn4yz9be1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84e0bae076c50905d704b122088a1a7296ee46c3 **after:** https://preview.redd.it/accwedq00abe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49a7d9658cfd60b806f89189ca2e3e1e75e5a3df but it wasn’t anything too significant. So, that’s why I gave it a 6/10 as it is a neat idea and has potential, but right now it is okay and slightly delays manual cleaning of the filter.   ***Self-cleaning tray: 10/10***   https://preview.redd.it/izcundz50abe1.jpg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5ef0e1209a1f901b9de85a7b1b9eef8205315c0 The new design is very good, I did not have to clean it at all during its use and I likely will never have to clean it again. So, good job to Dreame on this one as it is definitely an amazing feature. There is a small filter tray in the middle that picks up debris and it just has to be emptied every so often.     ***Retracting lidar: 6.5/10***   Design wise, it is a slick design, and the different LED colours are a neat touch. You have different settings for how cautious you want it to be in this feature. https://preview.redd.it/o68jellv8abe1.jpg?width=1115&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f56c0065e2a5e01cec04d7c565913513891ba380 I tested it on a couch that has a high enough area underneath that it should be able to clean under it. The results were it using the retracting lidar in the beginning of the couch https://preview.redd.it/i1ih74z73abe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=838598a422fb1210d9b8f8a7e95d1fca665f5411 However completely refusing to go any further despite there clearly being enough room + setting it on the least cautious option. That’s why I’m giving it a 6.5/10, right now it is way too overly cautious and I hope Dreame can improve this via firmware updates.   ***Battery life: 5/10***   This is the most major disappointing aspect of the vacuum. Essentially 1% = 1 minute of use (on Clean Genius). You have around 90-100 minutes of use with a full battery, which is significantly less than the industry standard. I wouldn't say the vacuum is any faster than other brands in cleaning the house, so I can't justify it by saying it is quicker at navigating through the house, in fact it is sometimes slower in certain environments (Which I will talk about later). This is probably the biggest glaring issue with the vacuum and should be noted. However, if you plan to go to work at 8-9, let it start vacuuming and come back at 5-6 then you should be okay. For example, I started it at 8:45am and it finished at 4:45pm. The whole house area cleaned was around 121m\^2 and this was on Clean Genius (no deep cleaning).   ***Carpet performance: 8/10***   So, in terms of carpet performance, it does pick up most things on the ground but, it does miss a few things including the sides of the room (Just unfortune limitation of most Robot Vacuums due to shape). I’m seeing multiple small pieces that it should pick up on the carpet + tiles and the sides are just full of small pieces. I feel this is because the FlexiArm is not used well in these situations when it comes to sides of rooms with carpet. I even set it (The FlexiArm) to the highest frequency via the app but I still had the small issue. Another thing I ran into was if there was 'stubborn' dust that is really stuck onto the carpet, it fails to really clean the majority of it. I thought the 20k kPa suction power would be enough, but no it isn't anywhere near enough. Also, it does this thing where let's say it vacuums just the carpet for 30 minutes, it will go back to "wash the mops" even though the mops were not used at all. I also notice the mops are dragging along the carpet to the point it somewhat distorts the shape of the mops, but luckily the carpet does not become even a little 'wet' at all due to this. One example of this is that I did one test where it was on carpet with Coffee Powder (Had issues, so will not bother talking about these results) and the mops were all stained after the test despite it not being used at all since it is on carpet: https://preview.redd.it/tqhgo8464abe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99651bc5d9b7faecafd9f64e407418c534ff253f I did some carpet cleaning tests with Yellow Sand and here are the results: **before:** https://preview.redd.it/yfi97jqg3abe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45048354b1909403e3912967c441fd8061239f48 **after:** https://preview.redd.it/0ziujigi3abe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3cb5180a42ca99b2373acd2823d93851fae6371 This was just 1 run, so overall I’d say it did a very good job and probably would have gotten the last little bit after a second run. Here is a map of the cleanup: https://preview.redd.it/eafzt6k26abe1.jpg?width=490&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ccb7bbbcf5d1cf4fc6b1f638a12d33c36f45c06c   ***Mopping performance: 7/10***   The mopping is solid, the tiles come off as clean after a run and the extended mop makes sure every spot is covered. It does miss some small pieces of dust, but the FlexiArm is a lot more active on this surface and it does usually pick them up. The only negative is that the amount of water is uses can be high, but this can be changed via the settings. It does use the auto detergent, but considering it is 1:200 dilution, you will not notice the difference vs normal water. I tried testing the mopping  via the use of Coffee Powder on the ground to see how it deals with a situation like that. https://preview.redd.it/og8z2k1s4abe1.jpg?width=2482&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2159c0a5663c0157449228d38d818f84745f7f48 It has a stain recognition + large particles setting in the app: https://preview.redd.it/ve9ssm3x4abe1.jpg?width=1115&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43bc9e0eaf65fe859af077a68c1b953ab768fccb It genuinely did a good job at the start, it recognised the stained areas and so it paid more attention to them: https://preview.redd.it/dam9xy855abe1.jpg?width=833&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40260a1a7e0ad0a258831990e6639c3b9bb784d5 I was happy with its performance until around 30% left, when it decided to start mopping with Coffee Powder present and so you got this: https://preview.redd.it/t6y8ovta5abe1.jpg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed98c3ac1ca51d0f31ffaad9a62ccd9e89f08268 The Coffee Powder was just attached to the ground at this point, so couldn’t continue the test anymore and probably would have been better using something else. However, large amounts of pieces were still on the ground but it is my fault for using Coffee Powder to do this test, it wasn't a good choice. It does fine in every day situations.   ***Obstacle avoidance: 9/10***   The obstacle avoidance is very good, it avoids everything and recognises everything ALMOST right. This includes cables, small objects like a white toy pen that I couldn't even see on the carpet until it told me about it. The screenshot qualities are not great, but good enough that you will know what is in the way. However, the reason it isn't 10/10 is because it does have false positives at times especially on carpets with patterns on them, but sometimes it does correct itself and recognise there is no obstacle there later on. Also, it will recognise obstacles in the wrong part of the room sometimes, so it will ‘avoid’ it in the middle of the room when the actual obstacle is at the end of the room.   ***Navigation: 7/10***   Overall, navigation is alright. If you have an open area with little obstacles. However, if you have things like a table with chairs that does not have a lot of room, few tall sofas closely together (where the robot vacuum can go under and clean), it struggles quite a bit to be honest and takes significantly longer than it should. It will also sometimes form random circles on the carpet, but this has gotten less after recent firmware updates. It also got stuck in one specific area, where there is a higher and lower carpet close to each other next to a wall even though it  should easily be able to get out of the situation, it just gives up and says there is an issue with the wheels (when there isn't). However, it was limited to that area only and I didn't experience this anywhere else. I would also say very tight spaces, it is not fantastic with, but I'm talking spaces barely bigger than itself so this is understandable. I forgot to mention, within 1 hour I see a massive white line across the vacuum, so it bumps into things (gently) and will do 360s when it is close to things such as well. I bought some thin PE foam tape and put it around the vacuum (avoiding sensors, cameras etc) and this resolved this issue but that 1 white line still remains.   ***FlexiArm: 6.5/10*** I completely forgot about this one, but I did mention it in the other sections, I'd say it does overall alright job on non-carpet area but could be better used on carpet to cover the sides and should be turned on more frequently. ***Maintenance: 9/10***   Pretty straightforward maintenance overall. Empty dirty water, re-fill the clean water, re-fill the auto detergent etc. The self-cleaning filter is 50/50 but the self-cleaning tray is amazing and does a really good job. Where it loses points for me is that I feel the cover where the auto detergent and dust bin are placed can be a lot more user friendly and easier to put back in. It required me doing it a few times before it finally sat properly. The app tells you when and what to replace over time as well, which is very nice.   ***App experience: 7.5/10***   I'll keep this section short; it is a pretty good app and gets too much hate at times (outside certain firmware updates). It has a ton of features and is overall user friendly. I did run into one issue where when 90% of my house was vacuumed + mopped and this resulted in the app becoming very laggy, which is definitely an issue.   ***Things I cannot/did not test:***   Longevity - Only had it for a short period. Pet use - There are specific features it has to help with pets, but I don't have pets so any testing related to pets I can't discuss at all. I can't test the voice commands (including via Alexa and Google) + AI voice features because it is the Chinese version. Lift feature – No interest at all in this.  Electrolyzed water - I wouldn't even know where to begin in terms of testing it.   Overall, I'd be lying to you if I said I was blown away by its performance, it has issues that need addressing that were mentioned above + the price it will be released at is likely going to make it likely the most expensive Robot Vacuum on the market once it is released, so I can't justify the price tag at that price (Probably $1900-2000 USD before discounts). However, I bought it for $650-700 USD (excluding additional costs to get it working here) so for that price, it was probably worth it. If you have the X40, I'd recommend saving your money and passing on this one unless you have pets then I'd look into the new features or If you feel the self-cleaning options etc are worth it. If you want a rating out of 10, I'd say it is a 7.5/10.     \*\*tl;dr\*\*   Overall, decent vacuum but has poor battery life (1 minute use = 1%), navigation can be iffy if complicated layout but otherwise does well, carpet performance + mopping is good but nothing mind blowing. New features like retracting lidar is too overly cautious, self-cleaning filter is okay, but the self-cleaning tray is extremely good. If you have X40, skip this one unless you want the pet features and/or retracting lidar. The self-cleaning stuff maybe a selling point for some as well. 7.5/10

While I agree that for many X40 --> X50 is not a massive upgrade, I disagree that it can be considered a downgrade. The double brush design with amazing anti tangle properties, the self cleaning tray, the retracting lidar, the auto detergent that is used on the floor cleaning (as opposed to just washing the mops). If you own pets, this is a decent upgrade for example. If you have rooms with high thresholds, this is a good upgrade. It just depends on your needs, but let's say it is between x40 for 1/2 the price of x50 and you are just an average user then I'd probably say save your money and get the x40.

Those are older robots. The Roborock and Dreame would be OK for the right price, but I would probably avoid the Ecovacs X2; it did poorly in reviews, particularly at navigation. The Roomba doesn't have mop pad washing; for the prices I'm seeing, you can do much better. If obstacle avoidance is important, then I would purchase one of the flagship robots from a brand known to have good obstacle avoidance: the Eufy S1 Pro, Dreame X40, or Narwal Freo Z. I might tentatively include the Roborock Saros 10R; Roborock has historically been poor at obstacle avoidance, and this is a new product, but some reviews have indicated it does much better than other Roborocks at avoiding obstacles.

I use two mid-grade robots to keep my main floor clean and I rarely haul out my old manual vacuum. My Shark AI is loud, but a total workhorse. No mopping. The Yeedi cube I have mops and cleans- poorly at best. You're looking at the models I am. The Yeedi parent brand is Ecovacs, just for reference. I loved my oldest Yeedi, it was super tough. I'm hesitant to invest in another Yeedi, but people do love them! They probably got better since my last purchase. Roborock S8 (MaxVUltra) is the other one I've looked closely at... but sometimes people say not worth the cost. Investing $999 in a vacuum is a big deal! The Eureka J15 looks cool. The Dreme X40 is the best discounted price on Amazon right now. As the robots get better, I really want one that vacuums and mops well. I have kids, cats and dogs, plus boys who cheat and don't take their boots off when I'm not home. I work a ton, so I really want something I can set and monitor from my office while I'm away.

Had an L40 for a week and now have had an X40 for the same amount of time. Not sure why but the L40 performed way way better. The x40 always leaves clumps of my golden retriever’s hair in a couple places.  Never had that happen with the L40. Pretty annoying considering the x40 is supposed to be better. Used tri cut brush in both as well btw.

>Since the new generation of robots just came out, I would wait a bit before buying I think now is a perfect time to buy an X40 at a discount. I just bought a Dreame X40 "refurbished" for $800. There's nothing on the X50 or Saros 10R over the X40 that is appealing to me, so the extra $500-1000 was not worth it. I've only had mine a couple of weeks but I'm loving it so far. It's far better than the Ecovavs I had before. The mopping and vacuuming performance have been great and it's much better at avoiding obstacles and the thresholds setting in the app helps it get over some places my Ecovavs would fail on. The X40 also integrates beautifully with Home Assistant too with the HACS integration.

I don't think you'll find anything with 3.5 inches clearance in that price range. The Dreame X50 with its retractable lidar sensor may be your best option, but it will be $1500-2000. The Dreame X40 checks all the other boxes and you can get it for $800 "refurbished" from eBay with a 2 year extended warranty. I bought one recently and it looked brand new and completely unopened.

Thanks for this review, I own the X40 and I don't see any reason to switch to the X50 as of now. FOr some reason it looks like the X50 may be a downgrade. I wish they didn't change so much and simply improved on the X40 by adding the retractable lidar sensor and adding the height feature to go over taller saddles in between rooms which is actually a great features for many homes FYI.

I actually ended up with 2 X40, after buying one, dreame sent me one to test. I think its hands down the best all around option right now, especially once you hook it up to the water line and drain, i run it daily in our house and we got rid of our cleaning help because of it. The X50 price will drop to 1k within a few months like the X40 did and no one should pay the 2k premium price.

You will want something that has a twin rotating scrub brushes or a roller mop as the vibrating mops are meh. I have the Mova P50 pro ultra and love it. It's a small step up from the Dreame X40 which is also a great machine. The Qrevo series has twin scrubbies as well. Eufy is one of the few brands that has a roller mop. So not only does it clean but has a dirty water tank to dispose of all that bird poop in. The others could possibly smeer it around. Object avoidance, even with the most expensive vacs are still lacking for some homes, but I have found my Mova to be adequate. I believe it's the same object avoidance that's in the X40 but I could be wrong and is on par with the X50. They still might chomp some USB cables from time to time, but won't be outright running full speed into things. Roborock is supposed to have the best app. I think Mova/Dreames app is pretty darn good. But I'm stepping up for a shark and Roomba. Both of which have the lousiest apps. Having pets, a mopping station that "auto" cleans itself is a big plus. I hope that helps narrow it down. I know it's a lot and had to force myself to just hit "add to cart" or I would still be stuck looking at too much information and confusing myself all over again.

Not a single best list / review I've seen actually deals with fully carpeted homes as is common in the UK. In addition, homes are 100 years old and have steps everywhere. I want a top of the line one but it has to work perfectly when lifted up and dumped into a space without having access to its little base. It therefore needs a decent bin size as fluffy carpets full those things up very quickly. I tried an X40 and it was AMAZING in the bathroom, which is tiled. But it sucked everywhere else cause it couldn't hoover close enough to the walls (the horizontal spinning thing does nothing when everything is carpet) so there was always a foot along the walls where it wouldnt hoover. In addition, if you carry it to the next floor / room / whatever to hoover, it would fill up and not tell you about it cause its not used to being on full carpet all day long. Anyone got good recommendations for a top end vacuum (mopping also nice) that works perfectly well when being carried around room to room and on fully carpeted surfaces?

I feel seen. I've gone through the same emotions. A 1000 dollar robot should have some minimal qualities that just work. I had Dreame x40 and it was impressive but then things didn't work. Too many sensors were wonky. It keeps beeping saying "charging" every few minutes. Didn't warn when it was out of water. Or when dirty water tank was overflowing. The Eufy S1 pro was the best at washing floors with a caveat of it did not go near edges. So I had a strip or 2 inches of dirty floor in the kitchen. Currently landed on Roborock Qrevo master but I learned to adjust expectations. It's first fun run I had to rescue it once and a couple of other times remove a small plastic wrapper that was caught in the roller and making a lot of noise. But it does a decent job. And their app is the best out there. I think this is as good a it gets for this era of robo vacuums. PS - none of them handle rubber mats well and all leave an inch of dirt around it as they try to climb on.

Hey — honestly both are excellent, but a lot depends on how much you want to future-proof. For your 200 m² house: * **L10s Ultra Gen 2** will definitely handle the size no problem, solid mopping, and you’re already getting hot water mop washing which is a huge step up from the original L10s Ultra. * **X40** gets you more AI avoidance, better edge cleaning, more flexible mop lifting, and smarter route planning — it does a bit better avoiding cables, socks, etc. And yes, it tends to track with floor lines better because of the newer pathing. If you’re mostly worried about "is the $330 difference worth it" — in a big space like yours, the X40’s better object avoidance and slightly faster clean times *do* start to add up over time. But the Gen 2 is still a very, very strong value. TLDR: If budget’s flexible, go X40. If you want the best price/performance combo, L10s Ultra Gen 2 is already great.

I have the x40 master. It has a detergent reservoir which works well. Overall it is a great bot and I love having it plumbed it. Lately though, I’ve felt less impressed with its mopping capabilities and I’m probably going to get a new unit with a roller mop once I can find the holy grail trifecta of excellent obstacle avoidance, roller mop and plumbing kit.

It’s early but so far great although for some reason my kids have been better at picking up after themselves so the robot hasn’t been to challenged yet. I have gotten two messages asking me to rescue the robot because it sucked up something it shouldn’t have. The first time I was busy and let it be for a bit and it eventually resumed on its own. The second time I came to the rescue and it had swallowed a small toy the size of a Lego. Not sure if it would have resumed on its own and the toy lost to the trash bin. I love that it’s plumbed in! I did not end up using the valve adapter it came with because it leaked. Instead I used osmosis water filter adapters found on Amazon. I am quite happy with its mopping and vacuuming but I’m not too fussy in general about perfection when it comes to cleaning performance. I figure with time and repetition the robot will eventually clean better than I have been (which is not at all).

I bought an X40 refurb from Dreame's eBay store for 799. It was literally brand new, as they said someone returned it unopened, which has usually been the case with others on this forum. But the important thing is that with kids, my house is constantly messy: a bunch of socks here and there, jackets on the floor, shoes at random places, under the couches, and in general chaos. But with Dreame x40, I just set it and forget about it; I never had to unclog/unblock it, and my floors feel nice. One thing I am learning is that with excellent obstacle avoidance comes great responsibility - Onion peels in the kitchen can get misrecognized as dog poop, so there is that versus going over it. My earlier Roborock Master, every run I had to unclog a sock or a lace or a cable. It was just frustrating.

I was in a similar spot to you two weeks ago. I previously had an iRobot Roomba S9+ and Braava jet M6. The Roomba would constantly eat wires and never finish a full run while the Braava was clunky and inefficient. I have really thick carpets, wife and cat that shed a lot and it always did a number on the Roomba. I also had a similar budget of $600-1000 and overall it was hard to stomach paying $400 more for a robovac. I ended up finding Dreame has an official storefront on eBay and sells X40/L40/X30’s refurbished for heavily discounted prices over there, with two year warranty from allstate instead of the warranty coming from the manufacturer. Pulled the trigger on a certified refurbished X40 for $700 from them and was hesitant doing so but it arrived in brand new condition with no signs of use or imperfections when unboxing. Have run it daily for over 15 hours now on custom turbo with mop after vac setting. It hasn’t gotten stuck once, the roller hasn’t split in half like Roomba’s had a tendency of doing, and the magnetic self cleaning mop pads have been a game changer. I’ll send the little robot to vacuum the entire house then it picks up mop pads once it’s done and there’s been no water smearing on carpet, no wires eaten, and the maintenance so far has just been dumping dirty water out each day after work. The reason ultimately I went with eBay over the manufacturer was that if you go to the subreddits of Roborock, iRobot, Dreame, Ecovacs etc you’ll see horror stories of customer support not responding or giving up on warranty support so at least the allstate warranty should be more reliable.

No worries at all! If this one happens to break at some point, i’d consider buying another Dreame yeah. Probably another X40 or an L40 as the X50 has hit or miss reviews on the subreddit from being so new. The app lets you customize a lot of functionality, from room sequencing, no mop/vac zones, if you want to have the robot leave mops in docking station before running the vacuum or mop + vacuum at the same time, how often the robot empties the dust bin/cleans mops, to even how wet you want to leave the floors when mopping. You can even have the robot run according to different cleaning configurations on scheduled days and times. I wish it had a dark mode, and I find the optional picture taking gimmicky, but that doesn’t really impede the main function of the robot. It’s easy to fine tune the robot to the parameters you want it, and then once you find that sweet spot all that’s left is to dump the dirty water and maintain the vacuum.  For maintenance after one week I removed the board that cleans the mops, dusted off the HEPA filter, cleaned the roller, gave the sensors and outside of the robot a good wipe down and it just took 15 mins or so. That’s the maintenance for the week lol. Nothing was broken or loose and in that week I haven’t seen any mold or excessive dirt deposits in the dock or robot. The running costs for 1L dreame detergent from Amazon is $25 (3-6 month supply for daily runs), and the reddit recommended an AliExpress seller “My Robot Hub” that sells a 3 month supply of 1 replacement roller, 3 replacement dust bags/side brushes, two HEPA filters and two sets of mop pads in original packaging for $16-26 after tax, so around 10-15 bucks per month. Compared to roomba where i’d spend 10 bucks per month on just rollers alone (my wifes hairs would split the middle of them) it’s a lot cheaper for way more performance. I have yet to try out the tricut brush but I ordered one to see if it helps with roller tangles, from the same AliExpress seller it was 17 bucks, just waiting for it to arrive to test it. The last big thing i’d say is that the robot runs without hallucinating and stopping halfway through a vacuum cycle. After 15 cycles i’ve seen it go under metal chairs and in tight crevices in my house that would consistently make the roomba throw error codes and stop at least every other day.  You can have the best robot out there, if the obstacle avoidance is terrible and it doesn’t actually clean the entire house, the specs on paper are pointless. It’s never gotten stuck and on the highest settings in intensive cleaning modes i’m able to vacuum and mop 1800 sq ft in 3 hours, the roomba it’d take 3-4 hours just to vacuum alone, if it didn’t get stuck and shut down after 90 minutes.  I’m sure there’s robots out there that could be even smarter and more efficient, just wasn’t able to find models with equivalent features without going into the $1400+ range (RR doesn’t sell refurbished top end models in my region for example).  I did want to say one last thing as well - Dreame notoriously has bad customer service if something goes wrong, like they give you the run around if you need warranty work, so if you do decide to get one, i’d only get one with some form of third party warranty like Asurion from Amazon or Allstate from Ebay. That way you remove the main downside with the company and that’s their repair support. Not sure if other companies have the same problem. Hope this helps!

Well the only real way to manage such cat fur is with a real vacuum like a miele or Sebo. My Miele compactifies months of kitty crumbs & fur like a champ (no cotton candy fur effect here). I use a dreame l10s ultra as my robot. I don't rely on the robot doing deep carpet cleans as I real vacuum about once a week but the dreame has been excellent with kitty floor and my long thick hair (with the dreame cutting brush). The q revo curv is the best robot money can buy right now so ofc that's the best recommendation. I like the dreame better for tighter margins and being more intrepid about mopping next to rugs. Get the dreame x40 master if you can afford it and do the water hookup as the water hookup is one of the final frontiers for a hands free robot. The dreame l10s ultra is sufficient and can empty its bin regularly to deal with kitty floof, but running it everyday should avoid any bin clogs. I would say the dreame l10s pro ultra is worth getting for hot water and water dirtiness sensor (advanced new mopping features). If you want the most advanced vacuum features get the roborock q revo curv. Checkout vacuumwars for feature comparisons and checkout RTINGS for some more grounded opinions. Overall stick with dreame and Roborock. They're repairable with great customer service and parts availability. One thing, the roborocks are SIGNIFICANTLY quieter than the dreames, but Pepperoni doesn't mind the dreame running. The Miele is ofc quieter than the robots on max power tho. Overall a robot is an amazing, indispensable companion to a bagged vacuum in a pet home! With my robot running multiple times daily, I almost never feel the need to "on demand" vacuum anymore.

(Note there is a current Mother’s Day sale, and the newer x50 apparently has a shitty battery) It’s only been a week but I am absolutely blown away. Ultimately I think if it’s your first robot vacuum, the brand won’t really matter. It’d be like having a flip phone and researching the best new smart phone. Yea I won't name the company but one big company just emailed me last night and told me to change the pascal rating from their own marketing material and up it by 1k! It is just BS. Yea I have new testing equipment for the hot water mop washing which will allow me to data log the entire wash cycle. I think is a borderline marketing scam as well. The Dreame X40 hit its peak temp for one second and only produced hot water (above 100F) for 20 seconds out of 2.5 minutes. Atleast they hit their peak though. Many others don't. Hot water would be effective with mopping, but my tests show no noticeable difference with cleaning stains from mopping pads.

While I have not tested the S10 I have tested the S1 Pro. Here are my thoughts for comparison. 1. A roller mop on a robot will mop better and clean better that a spinning or vibrating mop. 2. A roller mop will require a good bit more hands on maintenance than a spinning or vibrating mop since it remove dirt and debris from the floors it has to have a filter inside that must be cleaned by hand. For the S1 this was every 2 cleanings of my home. 3. A roller mop does not have edge cleaning abilities. The S1 Pro is much closer than the Switchbot which is pretty dismal with edge cleaning. 4. IMO you are better buying a Qrevo S or Pro and supplementing with a Flexi or Dyad mop which mops better than any robot and has the best edge cleaning ability. I actually tested this theory yesterday. I had spilled dried up coffee stain under the kickplate of my kitchen cabinets. The S8 MaxV with the side mop barley touched it. The Qrevo MaxV did little to nothing with it. The Dreame X30 and X40 did nothing with it. The S1 Pro could not reach it. I broke out the Flexi Pro and it removed it all in 3 passes. People really overthink mopping and edge mopping with a robot. They spend crazy money and go through all types of effort in attempt to have a robot completely replace mopping by hand. Robots at least today don't effectively replace deep mopping. They are designed to keep the floors clean in between deeper mopping once or twice a month thus your floors appear to remain clean daily with less effort than hand mopping daily. If you are going to buy a roller mop and go through the same maintenance you have to perform with a Flexi Pro or Dyad Pro then why not just use a Flexi Pro and a Qrevo. To me that is the best combo and best way to keep your floors completely clean. I have said this for years.

It depends on how much you consider your floors being really clean a life changer. I view it as a life changer, I've now bought 6 Dreame vacuums (everyone in my family now has one, and every one of them loves it), only one has given serious issues, the rest have been pretty problem free. I recommend trying to get at least the 20 series or better, it is a significantly better product then the older models. The L10 is quite weak on corners/wall edges (and needless to say the 40 is the best). I've used other brands in the past, and Dreame is easily the best experience I had by far. Their customer service does suck though for the one I had issues with. Buy from Amazon so you have a good return policy in case it doesn't work well early on. I believe if you buy starting Oct 1st, the return date will be 1/31/2025 so you know you got at least 4 months of a good warranty.
