"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."
"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."
"One huge leg up for a Shark over Roomba is that the brush roller is similar to a vacuum (e.g. hard plastic), whereas the roomba is a plastic roller with a rubber cover that is DESTROYED by dog fur and you have to frequently replace."

"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."

"Mine maps and shows you the actual map of everything in the room including the obstructions like furniture."
"reliably vacuum and not get stuck"
"It maps way better too, plus it does the whole map in one pass. ... The roomba didn't properly map my house for 3 months."

"The best part is I only paid $150 for it as a refurb unit from woot.. so for the price, it has absolutely off the chart value."
"The waste reservoir doesn’t require a bag which is a huge money saver."
"I am impressed with their performance they are rebuilt units for under $200.00 and have been in service for several years."

"the only robot vacuum that didn’t clog or burn out was the self emptying shark one ... it’s been going three years strong."

"Oh yeah, the 30 day bin does not apply to shepherd and husky owners in any way shape or form!!"
"The claim of 30-days before emptying is BS, as that’s based on a non pet hair household. ... I auto run it 3 times a week and empty maybe 1-2 times a week."

"it just stopped dispensing cleaner when mopping. ... A common problem with these. ... There is no fix for it. I’ve tried everything."
"It’s decent for a quick touch up but certainly won’t scrub caked on dirt or dog drool."
"the water reservoir has to be refilled almost daily as well and I only have it going in 3 rooms."

"If it doesn't get run at least once a day, the roller brush will get clogged."
I have a shark matrix right now it does a good enough job
r/homeassistant • What are the best robot vacuums for those who're struggling with lots of PET HAIR? ->We have the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 (vacuums and mops). The vacuum does well with all the fur from one Pyr and 3 cats. We mostly use it on hard floors so I can’t speak to its effectiveness on carpet. The brush roll rarely gets tangled and the self emptying feature is great. The waste reservoir doesn’t require a bag which is a huge money saver. Many of the self-emptying models require a bag which is an added expense every time you need to empty the bin (which will be often - I empty our bin at least once a week). The mop feature is ok. It’s decent for a quick touch up but certainly won’t scrub caked on dirt or dog drool. The app is fairly rudimentary compared to some of the other manufacturers. Overall we’re happy with it for our use case.
r/greatpyrenees • To Pyrenees owners, what are the best robot vacuums you'd choose for pet hair at home? ->I use a Shark Matrix. It self empties and has a lot of features for its price point. It uses both bumpers and LiDAR to navigate around and vacuums up GSD and Lab fur really well.
r/germanshepherds • Robot vacuum? Best ones? ->Not BIFL, but our Shark (get the self emptying base!) has withstood 4 cats, a long haired dog, 3 adults, a toddler, and a long haired teenager for 4 years and still doing well. I was incredibly disappointed in the original roomba I tried. If you do buy a shark buy directly from them. Their customer service is phenomenal. I bought one through a home improvement store as it was on sale. It had a charging issue within 12 months and when I called Shark I was told that since I hadn’t bought from them they couldn’t cover the full replacement even under warranty. BUT if I paid shipping they would send me a new one - $34 later I had a new one on the way. Bonus points as I was able to fix the original and had two robot vacs for the price of 1+ shipping.
r/BuyItForLife • Robot vacuum recommendation? ->I have a dog that never stops shedding. And I just got two cats. I have the Shark robot vacuum that self empties. I love it. I still vacuum every couple of days and get plenty of fur and dirt but I know it picks up its fair share because I empty the reservoir once every week or so and there is plenty in there. I can tell if it doesn’t run for a couple days because I will notice the floors not being as clean. I typically just have it run every day while I’m at work on a timer so I come home to fresh carpet lines. It’s worth spending a little more on these robot vacuums because the self emptying is huge, especially if you have square footage to cover. But it is also so much smarter than the older cheaper brand I had that would constantly get stuck and just bounce around the rooms willy-nilly. This one maps it out and covers all the floor space efficiently.
r/CleaningTips • I'm about to check myself in a mental institution ->yes. we have three shibas and *had* two automatic vaccums until one of them succumbed from dog hair and the other one is literally on its last leg. highly recommend, as well as the shark vac/mop!
r/dogs • Is a Roomba-like vacuum worth it for dogs? I need to be de-influenced for my wallets sake ->Same here. I have a Dyson animal that I use once a week. I run the self emptying shark matrix the days I don’t use the Dyson. I don’t have carpet though and that seems to help. When we had carpet it required more effort on my part.
r/husky • Best robot vacuum...for all the hair? ->I like our Shark Matrix. Low cost (relatively), no mop, no bags (empties into a removable plastic bin), and the app is decent. Have been running for a few months and it’s good. We have a dog also (medium hair length). Picks up the hair really well. The claim of 30-days before emptying is BS, as that’s based on a non pet hair household. I auto run it 3 times a week and empty maybe 1-2 times a week. Once every other week it will get stuck, but for the most part it handles the terrain and the thresholds, and jumps onto an area rug well. We also have some new rugs, so they are “shedding” a lot, which makes me empty more often. I think I got it for about $279 around the holidays, but have seen them lately in the low $300’s on Amazon.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the best self-emptying vacuum only device? ->That’s crazy. I’d hate that too. How old is it / what model. I’ve never had anything like that happen. I have had it stop because the roller needs clearing, which I now clean about once a week.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the best self-emptying vacuum only device? ->I would offer a couple of things. We have a medium length hairy dog. It’s whey we got a robovac, tbh. We got a shark matrix (not selling you this one, just commenting on features I think are important to understand). We’ve had one a few months and it’s a life changer, imho. Two features I’d look for in any vac are rollers that won’t tangle because they have some advanced feature of some sort, and a self emptying bin, not a bag, a bin. I didn’t realize what an advantage the bin would be, and lucked into this feature, because I wasn’t purposely shopping for it. Maybe bags last long and compact the do hair, idk. Our “30 day bin” has a little dirt and is full of a hair ball in a week. I’d ask folks with dogs how long bags last. I’d want to make sure they aren’t ripping through them at a cost you aren’t expecting. Other than that, I love having a robovac, no more hairballs floating all around the house. Enjoy.
r/RobotVacuums • Which one is better for dog hair? ->My Shark is just over one year old out of warranty. I was very happy with it but it just stopped dispensing cleaner when mopping. A common problem with these. There is no fix for it. I’ve tried everything.
r/RobotVacuums • Best affordable mopping robot ->I have the Shark that empties itself. Only does one floor and mixed hard wood and rugs. Empties itself twice while cleaning and does a pretty good job.
r/husky • Robot Vacuums? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
