It definitely is possible to get some Atmos “feel” out of a standalone soundbar OP, the JBL is great for 5.1 but it down mixes Atmos into stereo - you’re looking for a 3 digit number like 3.1.2 to signify true Atmos. I’d recommend Samsung Q600F (or a D if it’s significantly cheaper, the D is last years model - only real difference is sub size) or if you want something different a [Polk Magnifi Max AX](https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/product/outlet/refurbished/magnifi-max-ax/300542-refurbished.html) which you can pick up for under $400 with the discount code at top of the page.

Yup. The Samsung is 3.1.2 I believe, the Polk is 5.1.2. You’d need rear speakers for true 5.1 surround - but both of these will sound great in your apartment without them.

I second the Polk recommendation. I got a Polk MagniFi Max AX 5.1.2, and it instantly bonded with my Roku tv and sounded excellent right out of the box. I plan to keep it for a long time

Nice thank you. I bought the Polk magnifi ax but I’m not loving it. The voices are low compared to to the background so thinking of returning it and getting the jbl

Avoid the Core 300. Had it, would not stay connected to any of the surrounds and required constant rebinding. Check around, others have the same issue. For an expensive premium soundbar, it uses the cheapest, USB dongle technology to connect. I do have a soundbar (Polk Magnifi Max AX), but moved that to the bedroom. Nothing can come close to an actual AVR setup, so that's in the living room. If you aren't concerned about the look or setup, go with an actual home theater.

Get a Polk magnifi max ax instead. Cheaper, better value, great sound.

Look for a deal on a Polk Magnifi max ax. I got a new one for under 600, but they also sell refurbished. Better than anything you'll get from LG.

I'd lean Polk Magnifi max ax over this for about half the price. Can decode basically every format, and has 3 HDMI inputs.

I second this. He was actually the one that swayed me to my recent purchase of the Polk Magnifi.

Was looking at the plus myself, but no sub, and no rears for 1000, I couldn't get there. Went Polk magnifi for 600 instead. That ambeo max looks insane tho.
