It's small so it doesn't heat up the house as much as my full-size oven and it has handled everything I've thrown at it amazingly well. The high density pan is a really nice addition for an air fryer. Whole 4lb chicken spatchcocked, I was really impressed by this. The temp probe worked great and the chicken was perfect. Cookies, took three batches instead of two, but increased speed made it the same amount of time Fries and nuggies, ignore the times on the package and cook them until you like them Pizzas turn out really great, the pan has a lip to it, but if you use a parchment sheet to help transfer and then pull the paper after a couple minutes it works great Nachos, toast, roasted veggies, I could go on. I don't use the tilt feature at all. I wish the build quality was a little nicer, but it's better than I expected for the price. I use quarter and eighth sheet pans in it a bit, but the high density pan can't be replaced by anything else, it has rails and a specific design. But those are really the only cons I can think of.

You can pretty much cook everything, yes. If you can afford a Dreo Chefmaker with the temp probe, that will cook everything for you perfectly. I have one and it is wonderful, worth every penny. If you can find a Ninja with a probe, probably great too. Ninja is pretty gold standard for air fryers even without a probe. You can still make a hella good steak with a crust if you air fry from frozen and just use an instant read thermometer to check when you flip or a Meater thermometer.

The ninja went on a double sale (I guess?) right now so we bought it. $278 CAD We often cook meat and vegetables so I think the dual oven style will work great for us. We may consider a small air fryer in the future for small stuff though.

I ended up buying the ninja Dual Door 12-1. When I went back and looked it was a further $40 off from the already on sale price so it was a no brainer.

I used it last night. Love it! It's so much quieter than my last air fryer. One thing I noticed is the top isn't an air fryer. If I had been paying attention I would have noticed this! It's more of a toaster oven. It did heat up quick!

The top doesn't air fry. It's just a toaster oven. The bottom oven is the air fryer. I thought both would have a fan.. it's not a big deal though.

Never had an air fryer before last fall. I bought the Ninja double oven as it was on for half price and my friend loves hers. I don’t make super greasy food though, and clean up is a breeze. Quick wipe of the oven and door and Dawn power wash for the basket and catch tray though dish soap is probably fine too. Works great for me.

Yeah, this is weird - Ninja in the US has always said the opposite and people recommend them highly for that reason. I can even feel that mine are not like non-stick pans, it's definitely ceramic and not fully non-stick. I wonder if something changed, or if this is one of the things Europe/UK have less health restrictions compared to the US? We have a huge movement of objects being healthier for us, including pans and bakeware made without these chemicals. I feel like I mainly see the PTFE/PFOA-free pans compared to those with, now, even in cheap places like Walmart.

Ninja Foodi - probably not as good/convenient as a dedicated air fryer for the actual air frying part, but it can also sauté/simmer, slow cook, pressure cook, steam air fry (good for chicken breasts so don’t dry out), dehydrate and apparently 8 other functions but I’ve not used them lol. Makes for a very useful gadget! Negative is it’s a pretty big unit of a thing, so storage can be an issue. Also the lid flips open so you need room above to be able to open it which may limit where you can use it if you have cupboards above all your sides.

I have the ninja speedi. We use it for so many things, air frying, proofing and baking bread, steaming veggies, I've even used the dehydrate setting to dehydrate fruit. We use it daily. Mine did break outside of warranty and I immediately ordered a new one, same brand and model. Edit to add: I have a few friends who have the ninja foodi and really love that too. I've read a lot of reviews on the two models. It seems the speedi has a slightly better air fry feature, but the foodie has a pressure cooker setting, so it depends on what people are looking for. I know some who really love their regular ninja air fryer as well. If I was in the market for a new air fryer I'd honestly check out the ninja ones, they really do seem to make a product worth investing in.

It’s amazing honestly I love it it has so many options, 2 racks, a light, half way turnover timer, tons of cooking options such as baking, roasting, broiling etc. it also doesn’t have PUFAS/ PFAS or whatever all that stuff everyone is concerned about. The top rack also doubles as a cooling rack. It’s a bit of a pain to clean but that’s the same thing with most air fryers since they need ventilation holes in the surfaces to effectively circulate the hot air. The window is nice to be able to see your food. It’s a pretty nice size, enough to put enough food for 2 adults and 2 kids. It also comes with a cool little laminated air frying guide that shows about 60 different foods and how long to cook them for, what temp etc. it’s definately better than your typical chef man and lower end fryers priced at this range but if you’re looking for something a bit nicer around $120 I recommend the ninja foodie.

I’ve had a Ninja Foodi for years. Usually more than £100 but think you can get manufacturer refurbs off of eBay for close to that price. It’s more than just an air fryer. It also has pressure cooker, sauté, roast, dehydrate as well as other functions I don’t use. Best use for me is for sausages, can get up in the morning, chuck them in there for 13 minutes and they’re done without having to tend to them. Also use the pressure cooker for curries, and you can brown the meat in there first before switching to pressure. Mrs even used it to dehydrate orange slices to make her own Christmas wreathes. We wouldn’t be without it.

I think it depends what style you buy. My mom had a toaster oven type one and I don’t like it as much as my own. Plus gotta wait for it to preheat. I have a ninja foodie that doesn’t need to preheat and it’s what started getting me to cook more. However, cleaning it is a bitch so there might be that regret.

I’ve never had any problems with any of my Ninja products (bullet, double stack XL, or slushi), but I will say that their instructions are more detailed than most, plus obviously they are more expensive, but I think that has to do a lot with product reputation.  The only thing I don’t like about the double stack is that the top rack is so narrow. After finding[ this thread on Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/user/No-Competition-5766/comments/1i5jdq2/air_fryer_models_comparison_spreadsheet/) and comparing the different Ninja models, I think that the Foodi might be a better fit for me. Check out the Ninja Foodi. We love ours. Makes perfect rice and so much more. Insta pot/pressure cooker, air fryer, slow cooker and rice cooker all in one. The only downside is it’s kinda big because of the extra air fryer lid. The pressure lid is always attached. Also the pot is dishwasher safe and is more ceramic like. Makes better rice than a rice cooker and better pulled pork than a slow cooker.

I vote slow cooker because most things you make in one reheat well and often taste better as the days go by. I have three air fryers, one is a Ninja Foodi which functions as an air fryer, pressure cooker, slow cooker, yogurt maker. It does a great job air frying and pressure cooking, but leaves a lot to be desired as a slow cooker and yogurt maker because it gets too hot. I also have an Instant Pot I use a lot, but not as a slow cooker, it’s just not the same.

I have a ninja foodi that’s like an air fryer plus a small oven plus a toaster oven (does some other stuff I don’t use too). I use it almost every day. Sometimes I use it multiple times a day. It preheats essentially immediately, so anything that can fit in it (which includes most frozen pizzas) goes in it instead of the real oven. It makes cooking feel like less of a commitment.

I recently bought the Cosori Pro 2 and it completely blew my ninjas out of the water. I had a Ninja Foodi and the Ninja AF101 and Dual Zone (endless cycles of upgrading and gifting to friends who didnt have an air fryer). Got a Cosori as an extra air fryer. It was $48 on clearance at walmart due to the red color not being very popular. The Cosori performs better than the Ninja in a very key aspect, the removable basket design. Since the sides are also detachable from the overall basket, they can add vents to the side of the basket. This allows the circulation of air to the underside even if the basket is completely full. Ninja's removable plate design would always result in a soggy underside if I overfilled due to the air being unable to circulate. In a scenario where both are half empty, they perform the same - slight edge to the Ninja. The removable basket vents no longer makes me afraid of just dumping a bag of fries This is not worth selling your Ninja and buying a new Cosori. These downfalls can be easily solved by preheating, shaking or simply not overfilling. But it's nice to just set it and forget it And just a preference, I infinitely prefer cleaning the dual basket than trying to remove a hot plate from the bottom

We have a ninja that looks like a small silver oven (I think it's like the 9-in-1) and it's fairly sleek and low profile. It also has a hinge on the back legs so it can be flipped up and take up less space. We got a good deal on it at costco. I've never used a combo microwave/air fryer, but because of how different the components for microwave cooking and air frying are I'd be wary. I'd get a standalone microwave and a good combo toaster oven/air fryer for your counter. I have [this one](https://www.ninjakitchen.com/products/ninja-flip-toaster-oven-air-fryer-zidSP151) from Ninja and love it. Makes bagels super fast, works as a pizza oven, great air fryer, and flips up when not in use to give me back some of my limited counter space.

I'm a big fan of the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry/Toaster (the one that flips up). It air fries, toasts, roasts, keeps warm, etc. And, bc it flips up, it saves on counter space. It's amazing for frozen food. It's not tall, however. You can't roast a whole chicken. Anyway, it's replaced my regular toaster (gave it away) and large oven which I only use monthly at this point.

I have the ninja flip, from what I’ve pieced together from mine would be turning the fan on/off (air frying vs baking), broiling (only turns top heating element on), and dehydrating (low temp and maybe fan for a long time). I think toasting might turn top and bottom heating elements on at the same as well, ultimately just leaving it on air fry would realistically do all of it but selecting those individually might be slightly more efficient

r/airfryer • My old airfryer has bitten the dust so time for a new one. I'm seeing things like '4-in-1' (Ninja) to '13-in-1' (Phillips) cooking options..... what difference do these really do? ->

Honestly haven’t explored too many cooking modes yet but it’s a neat trick how the thing flips outta the way if you’re tight on counter space, the control panel is surprisingly intuitive, gotta like smart touches like the interior light coming on at the end of cycle or being controllable manually.

I reluctantly got the Ninja Air Fryer that's kinda shaped like a toaster oven. I thought it would just be a waste of money, but we use it at least once a day and have had it for about a year or so. It preheats in like 30 seconds so you dont have to turn it on like an oven and come back in 15 minutes to actually cook something. Our model has toast, broil, bake, and other options so it eliminates the need for a toaster and takes place of the oven most of the time. ADHD tip: buy extra pans so you dont have to worry about cleaning one specific pan to cook.

I upgraded to the flip from a basket style air fryer. So I have both. I tend to use the Flip more than the basket style. The tray makes doing four chicken breasts fast and easy. But I do note it takes longer in the flip so,it’s hard to take on a new recipe without monitoring everything.

The Ninja flip style air fryers are great for baking, toasting, roasting, air frying, dehydrating, and more. Takes up a bit of counter space but the flip up feature saves some space when not in use and the size is great for heating up pizzas. Why get an air fryer if you’re not going to fry things with it?

Did you ever end up buying a different air fryer? I know plenty of people who have gone from a basket style to a toaster oven style, but not the other way around because they’d lose so many features. I recently upgraded from a basket style to a Ninja toaster oven model (I used this fantastic [brand and model database](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y4PR6GCz-Lk5mWX1LUzo-3kChRBv302vSv5HZFB5K1c/edit) to help narrow things down). I agree with you that the “air frying” feature isn’t quite the same, but the glass door helps me monitor things and make sure they don’t get too toasty/crispy

I largely disliked it, outside of the capacity. Before you read below, I'd say my wife and I used this unit moderately (i.e. regular cleaning, used 2 to 3 times a week). First of all, the screen makes a buzzing sound that is super annoying. That's a minor annoyance, but one that infuriated me more and more the longer I owned the thing and saw the other short-comings. Secondly, it doesn't air-fry all that well. It isn't bad, but if all you need is a dedicated air-fryer, well, this thing is assuredly worse than a basket air-fryer. Thirdly, this thing makes a f***ing mess. It's hard to clean, the crumb/ drip tray is a really bad design (the seams can leak food oil directly beneath the machine). I can appreciate the idea of having an outside accessible crumb pan, but in practice it is just not worth it. Fourth, the finish on the thing started peeling within one year (black coated model) and the function stickers were rubbing off within 6 months. At this price-point the function indicators 'ought to have been engraved. Fifth, it takes far longer to heat up than conventional air-fryers. Sixth, the g**d*mned light on it turns off after like 5 seconds. No adjusting it, no keeping it on, just an annoying button you have to keep pressing if you're keeping an eye on what you're cooking. After you cook with this and you get annoyed at all of the above, the softly buzzing screen incessantly reminds you that you definitely overpaid for this unit. If I had to summarize this thing: it is far far far overpriced for a machine that really doesn't do anything special that other oven-style air-fryers don't, and MOST CERTAINLY NOT justifiable at 3x the cost given the shortcomings. I replaced it with one of the flip up Ninja thingies a while ago and never looked back. No, I can't roast a whole chicken in it, but I can do everything else (pizza, toast, air fry, etc).

Depends on what you consider big. For reference we have a family of five but my two boys never stop eating. We opted for the Ninja smart XL line. We've cooked four chicken breasts, burgers, a whole chicken, bacon, etc. I think it holds about 4qts and it's worked for the last 4 years until recently. The internal shield failed and now it smells like burnt plastic. Still it's the longest lasting air fryer. We've had three others that didn't even last one year. Ninja also has oven style French door models that hold much more capacity than basket styles

Our oven went out at the beginning of covid so I got one to make it through until we could get a new one. It was over a year until we got one. I've hardly used it as I use the ninja every day. It's just hubs and I also, kids are grown. It's just so convenient. I can cook a roast from froze in an hour, or throw in some muffins for 10 minutes without heating up the house. Pork steaks are so good air fried, and hubs does have to start the grill. Walmart still has some, but they aren't as heavy duty as my old one. Amazon has a few in the renewed section too. That's where I got my first one.

We purchased it around a year ago. We use it 2-3 times a day. Like any new tool it takes a few times to figure out all of its functions. We use it as a toaster, air fryer, baking, and for cooking pizza. I haven't tried the dehydrator feature yet. Other comments regarding the air fryer feature don't really apply to us since we avoid most frying applications. It does crisp chicken tenders and other preprepared foods to our satisfaction. As for cleaning, I purchased liners from Amazon and they saved me a ton of time cleaning this unit. Edit: to add we love the flip option. We have limited counter space. This works great for us.

I got this 2 or 3 years ago as a multi-purpose appliance. This one specifically because of the counter space saving storage option. I rarely use my oven unless I'm hosting a dinner party. It does the exact equivalent to single purpose appliance for toast, oven, pretty good for dehydrate, but the air fryer is the function that's not quite equal to a dedicated air fryer but for me that's OK as I don't use that cooking method a ton. I use it to reheat fried chicken and fries. Lol If air frying is a really important feature to you, maybe not this one. It fits the Motor City pizza perfectly. That's reason enough. 😆 Edit - typo

At the very least, having owned both styles, I would get this over-style air fryer over a basket-style one any day of the week. It cooks very evenly, I don't need to mess with my food much while it's in there, and the toast/oven/keep warm functions are surprisingly useful.

Have had it since last summer’s sale. It is pretty great. However, temper your expectations. 1. The “air fry” function is not quite as powerful as a true air fryer. It works well but time and temp might vary depending on what you’re cooking. The variety of functions means it doesn’t do anything perfectly but it’s really easy to dial in. 2. It’s hard to clean if you let it get bad. Simple green and using foil and a drip tray are your friends. Like another comment said, this basically is my oven, I never use my actual one. It’s the perfect size for basically anything unless you are cooking for larger groups or odd sized things.

Yeah, I'm not sure either, and I kind of wonder if the 'air frying' part is just playing to a certain market. That being said I own this exact brand, and I just think of it as a small convection oven, and it's basically perfect. It heats up way more quickly than my large oven, doesn't warm up my home as much, and basically replaces my oven for like 90% of my baking needs. Never used the air frying basket.

I love using the pizza function because it does a little bit of air frying without going the whole way. Makes things crispier, and of course works well with frozen pizzas.

I just bought one at Costco on sale. So far, I absolutely love it !!! Some say that it's hard to clean, but I honestly find it quite easy to wipe down after each use. I take a soft cloth, and put it into a bowl of very hot water \*(with a tiny drop of Dawn Dish Soap mixed in) and wipe down all sides of the oven with it twice. I then rinse out the rag, and wipe it down again with clear water to rinse it off properly. It does take a bit of effort to clean it after every use, but I know that a few minutes of my time will keep grease from building up a layer, which would make it much harder to clean down the road. \*(I always clean it when the unit it is still a tiny bit warm. I wait for the HOT symbol to disappear, and then I clean it a few minutes later.) It is very quiet, and gives fabulous restaurant style cooking results every time.

I have one. It's been such a help and great with limited counter space in our small apartment. I can see why people are talking about the pain to clean BUT I have so far used parchment paper every time we use the air fry/bake settings. I got this to replace my old toaster and to not have to but a second appliance (air fryer). Is been his to us so far.

I didn’t get it from Costco, but I really have enjoyed it. It is a huge pain to clean. So if that’s an issue, stay away. I have limited counter space. So that was worth trying it out back when it was on sale at Best Buy. I love its versatility. And it’s cooked pretty well for me.

True. But wouldn't that be a problem with most toaster oven air fryers? Another thing that I read about is that it might not cool things evenly, since the fan is on the sidez and not the top. But I guess that's something you need to experience with

I did, and I found out after buying it that it's not the version you can open from the back so that was a bit of a bummer. But overall, we use it almost everyday and barely using our oven since we bought it. We flip it all the time and it does save counter space. But as mentioned by others it is very hard to clean so I just gave up at some point. I'll probably get a bigger one once we feel like upgrading.

I think we have the ninja foodie 10 in 1 oven thing and we've only used our real oven like twice since we got it and that was entirely because the pizza was too big. There's something great about being like "yes, cook my burrito at 400 for 29 minutes and then shut off" that makes it so useful. Well setup food and not worry at all about it being done because it always is. There's even a thermometer and a setting system to get the internal temp to a preferred temp. "Is that chicken juicy or raw? Turns out it's juicy since internal temp hit 180." Sometimes I'll add things in stages so the veggies don't cook as long as the meat or something. We also went out and got random metal trays from a thrift store so we can load small portions separately. But really being able to setup the oven and just let the timer handle it is the bees knees. The one single con is just because a roast or bird CAN fit doesn't mean it SHOULD fit. If the fan is running and fatty meat is too close to the element you can get smoke from the fat. Which could also happen in a regular oven, it's just more noticeable in an air fryer oven. So only a small family roast, no holiday roasts or turkeys.

With Dawn, the basket and tray clean up well. The crumb tray slides out and the bottom opens (when flipped up) for cleaning access. Does it clean up each time to original condition? No. It’s a functional oven where heat and fat mix, so it will looked used. Not the same as dirty. Long way of saying depends on your kitchen OCD level.

Yes! I have the same one and it’s honestly been such a game changer - poke some holes in a potato and toss it in the microwave for 7 minutes then roll in a little oil and salt then 8 minutes in the air fryer (flip halfway) and it’s better than a restaurant baked potato. Frozen veggies? Toss them in the air fryer. Baked chicken thighs? Into the air fryer they go. I love the ninja because it’s the toaster oven shape (as well as being a toster oven) my sister has a non-ninja “bowl” type and I specifically got mine because I knew I would never use the other kind. I’m getting ready to upgrade to a larger ninja that can fit a whole roast chicken and I’m more excited than I thought I would be 😂

I've got gifted Ninja Foodie which can air fry and do a bunch of other stuff. I only use it for the other stuff (like baking, toasting, or pizza) because it's a pain to clean up after frying. For that stuff, I still use the old cheap air fryer I bought years ago off Amazon with a plain square non-stick pull out basket drawer and 2 manual dials (temp and timer) for controls. It continues to do the job well. Couldn't tell you the name. Never cared. Point is, don't overthink it. A dedicated purpose-built air fryer is the way to go for anything greasy or messy.

I have the Ninja Digital 8-in-1 and it changed my life! It can do everything a basket friar does and more. Generally it cooks anything an oven can cook about 30% faster than the box time too. It's pretty big but you can lose the toaster if you have one since it does that as well. It comes with a basket that's kind of a bitch to clean but you can use your own quarter baking sheets with a wire rack if you like. The only 3 complaints I have is one, the size. Thankfully it's on a swivel and can be positioned vertically. Two, the inside is impossible to clean well. And three, it can get pretty loud when you're air frying at high tempatures for a long period of time.

Depends how lazy I am. I usually use my own pan and clean it with every use. You can use little tiny pans to make it easier if it's a small item. I don't clean the basket piece as much as I should. It has some really baked on char on some parts that's not really worth the fuss. The actual inside has sheet on the bottom that collects crumbs I'll pull out every few months. The walls are the part I'm mostly talking about. I think it's inevitable it will be dirty with baked on oil/grease. Long story short you're not actually cleaning it with every use but you should clean the pan you're using. No matter what I would choose this air fryer over a basket fryer in every scenerio. Reheated pizza to fresh in 3 minutes and being able to make +12 crispy Buffalo wings will wing any argument!

I just (tried) cleaning out our Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 Fryer. It was pretty dirty as we never cleaned it as much as we should. Anyway, cleaning that thing is a major pain in the ass. I couldn’t figure out any (easy) way to remove the heating elements and shields to get them cleaned. I sprayed the inside with oven cleaner, then later read that the oven cleaner shouldn’t be used with convection type ovens. So, not sure if the fryer is toast now, or what. Haven’t plugged it back in yet, so not sure if it’s going to even work. Any way. I’ll be following this thread for options, because even if it works, it’s the last time I’m cleaning this thing. Next time, it’s going in the trash and we’ll just buy a new one. As far as performance of the unit, it was ok. Though, it left a lot to be desired for making toast. It takes way too long to toast a couple slices of bread. And frying isn’t exactly giving me crispy results either. Never really did.

I currently hae a ninja foodi (the 8 in 1) and I had a ninja bucket style (I had to replace it when I had it on the stovetop and turned a burner on by mistake). I really like the foodi for large flat things and pulling double duty as a toaster. But as an air fryer I found the bucket style worked way better, with things getting crispier since the air circulation is much better. I never really shook stuff using the bucket style air fryer either. I'm also vegetarian so I use it exclusively for similar food. If you prefer tray style cooking and want that real estate the foodi is your best bet (and if it's pulling double duty as a toaster, but if you want things nice and crispy, the bucket style is better and a lot cheaper.

Good luck finding one that isn't coated in teflon. I had a tough time finding one without the teflon last year. I settled with the Ninja SP201 and it works fine. It does get disgusting looking on the inside rather quick but that doesn't impair function in any way. I catch the grease using the black pan thingy they include. Yes. I was on the fence and we didn't have room for one, but when our toaster died I bought the Ninja Foodi 6 in 1 that looks like a toaster oven. This gets used multiple times per day. You can do regular toast and bagels, you can broil stuff, bake muffins without having to preheat an oven, and make way more than just bagged frozen food, though it's great for that. Fries, nuggets, meatballs, toasted ravioli, taquitos, pierogies, pizza, popcorn shrimp...all that. You can roast veggies or salmon. I don't know, there's just a ton of stuff. You can do sandwiches with melted cheese or toasted buns for burgers. If I'm making spaghetti, the air fryer might get used for garlic bread or roasted broccoli. My husband grilled salmon the other night on the regular grill and I made corn bread muffins to go with it in there. They were done start to finish in 15 min.

We recently upgraded to one with two baskets and I think it is a game changer. If we were going to cook meat and veggies we would either have to do one after the other or do one in the oven. This way we can do both at once. It also has a feature so if they have two separate cook times, you can hit go and it will wait to start the other basket so they finish at the same time. I have seen some with one big basket and dividers and that would be kind of nice if you had a larger thing to cook. I think we have the Ninja Foodi 6 in 1. Forget if it’s the 8 or 10 quart. Also I would WAIT FOR BLACK FRIDAY DEALS. I feel like there are always so many air fryers on Black Friday. I think we got ours like half off at Target but not 100% sure.

Oh really? I figured there would be more in America but thought it had spread. I guess it also sort of centers around our thanksgiving holiday. Either way sale or not they’re worth it. My gf got one years ago and I thought it was some dumb tik tok fas she was buying into but we honestly use ours like every other day. Can get a nice crisp on things, don’t have to wait for it to preheat, and it’s very nice in the summer (especially if you don’t have AC which I know a lot of Europe does not) because you can cook without heating up your whole house/apartment from the oven! Two baskets isn’t necessary but I do think it’s worth paying extra for so you can do meat and veggies at the same time. Some have all these 6 in 1 or 7 in 1 but that’s mostly just marketing. It has settings that will change the temp ranges but will also change the Dan speed but I don’t think that is critical. Either way we like the one we have for sure! Let me know if you have any questions.
