I have and not a great fit unfortunately. Still a little tight in the midfoot. I’m sure they’d break in fine, but wasn’t my glass slipper out of the box lol

On the other hand, I had a brutal experience with the sg6 - blisters and a lack of cushion.  Went to the 001, and I found them to be a far more comfortable shoe. I would disagree with you on the max of 25km - having used them for a few races now I would say they would be good up to 100km.  I found them to be far more comfortable, but as always, ymmv

I really like my speedgoat 6 offroad in the mud and walking in the mountains, but they lack a bit of damping for running <6min/km. So my next pair will be challenger 8's.

I used to do speedgoats from v2-5 then they stopped working for me as well, I ended up switching to Brooks Cascadia’s

Speedboats are awesome especially after a long hike in your speedgoats. Honestly they don’t have great support. They are “stable” because they are so wide. Plus they degrade quickly especially in northern presis. Brooks Cascadias have traditionally been stiffer with better traction and durability. They got revamped so TBD. If you are hiking (aka walking on a mtn rather than running) over rougher terrain then hikers, even lighter duty ones, are probably better for your feet, ankles, Achilles, calfs, on the down long term unless diligent about conditioning and stretching.

I hope this isn’t a completely pointless post as the specific model - HOKA Speedgoat 5 - isn’t available and I can’t vouch for the 6 but hopefully it’s similar. North of 200lbs, this shoe was a revelation to me, I didn’t realise at the time that trail shoes could be as cushioned. I never had any issues with stability either. I’m not looking forward to replacing them.

good eye! Yes. they did well during the race. when I switched to the Speedgoats at mile 50 is when my feat started to hurt. maybe that was the speed goats, maybe it would have happened anyway. I don't know. but my feeet were feeling pretty good for the first 50 in the Mafate X.

I’m on my third pair of Hoka Challengers as they’re great for the majority of what I do, with a pair of Speedgoats for harder terrain. They last pretty well too with my most recent ones going for 1,200k before I retired them and I still use them for walking.  (I’m not a Hoka fanboy but whenever I’ve been into a shop to try new shoes, I’ve still always preferred these ones).

I have a love/hate relationship with Hoka. I've had two amazing pairs of Challengers and a pair of Speedgoats but I've also had a pair of each I've had to ditch because of severe rubbing on my Achilles. Same size and fit as what I've had before so can't find any reason for it. But I've yet to find shoes I like better than those models.
